Our Blues - review from England
This series is such a treat and I would recommend anyone to see. There is violence in some of the scenes but keep watching - it's necessary to understand where the characters have come from and where they are going.The script writing is unbelievably good and the stories and heartache through every episode are truly unique. Many of the topics would just not be touched on in the UK so it's a big well done from me.
And the huge cast is to be applauded for acting to such a high level through the series. From the smallest to the eldest. The storylines with Kim Hye Ja and Go Doo Shim were amazing and acted out with such sensitivity that I am lost for words.
Well done to all the crew, keep promoting this in the UK.

It gets better the more you watch it
I wasn't sure to continue watching this after the first two episodes. But I'm glad that I finished the series. It keeps getting better every episode. Because the first few episodes don't determined the whole series. Since the story is not revolving on one character, but almost every character in the series. Main roles would keeps changing around, sometimes the main role would become support role, or the support role would become the main later in the series. Which gives us much better understanding of the relationship between every character. The ending gives me a very satisfying feeling that made me glad that I watched the series.So if you are one of those people like me who wasn't sure to continue watching this after first few episodes, I strongly suggest you to continue the series, you'll thank me later. I can confidently say this is the best series I've watched this year.

Disappointed
With an all-star cast, I guess I expected more from this movie. Lee Byung-hun was my favorite. He created a very interesting character Dong Seok. However, I do not feel the chemistry with him and Seon A. I don't feel she has feelings for him or treats him like she loves him. She's also not very good at playing a depressed person. Her depression failed to make the viewers understand depression and sympathize with her. She described it as "feeling like a wet cold blanket on you and that everything is dark." That's not enough to elicit any understanding about depression.Dong-Seok's mother didn't treated him well, offered no apologies or love to her son even towards the end.
Overall, I'm not happy with the various storylines. It isn't interesting enough. I do like the Captain and the Hanayeo story and the 2 teenage kids story. I feel that if the writers wanted to write about the different blues we have in our lives then perhaps there are other more interesting topics. But that's just me.
I didn't get any thought provoking takeaways after finishing the drama. I do love Dong Seok's advertising "frying pans frying pans, tofu, tofu, cabbage, cabbage, etc." LOL

The warmth Blue brought along with it has filled the heart.
I started it after watching shorts of hyeon and young ju and Jeong joon. But fall in love with Eun Hui, Dong seok, In kwon, ho sik and Eun ki. Min ra, Seon Ah is not a exception in this line up.The way this showed the reality and the beauty of the life which we see everyday life along with the practical difficulty that the life throws at every human in different ways with no exaggeration is so beautiful.
The fact that each frame make your heart long for more is the best justice the actors made to the story with the way they protrayed. You will laugh, you will cry, You will travel and you will make the character yours is the real success this drama got.
The struggles showed are real so is the way the characters handled it. The fact that they showed some real struggles of people from the other walks with an underlying social issues like teen pregnancy, social judgementals based on what one see on surface, the intolerance of the differences among people is something worth applauses. Especially in the portions of hyeon and young ju's storyline. The fact that they matured overtime while accepting and making the others accept them is awesome. And the maturity young ju's friends showed is awesome. And the bond of young sisters is something special.
Overall, The best one I saw in recent times.

The lives of people living in Jeju
It's the stories of people's lives. Mostly their struggles in life.It's about connections between people and growing up poor and struggling to make a living and relationships and families. There's a lot of sadness and illnesses and mental health issues. Things we all face.
But there's hope as well.
It's not a depressing show or anything like that. It's not one of those shows where it wallows in misery, pain, and depression. It shows people finding strength to overcome or live with such pain and move on with their lives. There's a realism to many of these stories and I definitely can relate to many of these stories myself.
The music reminds me of Il Postino.
The character that I most align with is Dong Seok. I can feel his anger and pain and what a terrible life he has lived. But with each story, there is hope and strength.
It's not a show that will have you crying every episode. Far from that. It shows many facets of human lives that each of us can relate to and shows what it is to be human.
I skipped several of the latter episodes centering on the kid.

To tell you the truth, I almost dropped this show somewhere in the beginning. I forgot which part but I did thought of that. BUT... I am so glad that I didn't. I'm glad that I finished the whole show and I have to say I really love it. This show just gave me warmth. It was about friendship, love, family, and most importantly... accepting yourself.
The casting and acting were phenomenal. It was really outstanding. Script, music, everything was on point. It made me feel happy, it made me cry, it made me feel love, anxious... to cut the long story short, it was an emotional rollercoaster (but in a good way 😊)
Honestly, am finding it hard to put my emotions into words since I just finished the show less than 5 minutes ago but I loved it. BRAVO!!!!
PS: It was really nice to see Woobin and Mina in one scene ehehehehe I consider those small moments a bonus for me 😍

Life beginning, life ending and everything in between.
"Blues" - Feelings of melancholy, sadness or depression.This drama depicts the ebb and flow of life by giving the viewer a close-up look at all types of relationships. It shows familial love, romantic love, friendship, the relationship between people in a community and the relationship between people who work together.
The drama showcases a strong sense of community, hard work, sincerity and the concept of earning an honest living.
The drama is emotionally rich, and the ensemble cast does an excellent job of conveying their stories; the acting is superbly authentic.
The most profound message in this show is that everyone carries hidden pain and has personal struggles despite their smiles, and that community and human connection have the power to heal these struggles. Through their various struggles the characters realise that life is messy but beautiful and that forgiveness brings its own freedom and peace of mind. The characters are continually growing and evolving, learning new lessons and healing their trauma.
In this drama the characters realise that pain and joy co-exist and that co-existence provides beauty, depth and reason to keep going.
I gave this drama a 7 for the amazing acting. However, I found some story arcs to be overwrought to the point of annoyance and the over emoting of some characters took away the enjoyment of the story. Similarly, some story arcs showcased the bad chemistry of the romantic pairings.
Overall, this is well worth watching for the profoundly human emotional tapestry the story depicts.

Plenty of life lessons
Our blues (2022) is a kdrama which shows he ups and downs of life and potrays multiple stories of people who live and work on the bustling Jeju island. It talks about different matters like family problems, teen pregnancy, depression, misunderstandings between people who were once the closest etc. It gives attention to topics that are not talked about in most kdramas. I love how we get to see in this kdrama that all people have problems in their lives whether big or small. Valuable life lessons for all groups of people can be learned through this masterpiece. I'm sure you'll relate to atleast one of the stories presented. I liked that they approached a new take in the kdrama world and I hope to see more kdramas like our blues in the future. The stories progressively get better. If you want to watch something real and beautiful that will take a turn on the way you see life then i would suggest you to watch this kdrama.Thanks for reading
Happy new year :)

A Very slow start
I don't write many reviews, let alone positive ones.I mostly write this because at first the show might seem confusing or frustrating.
The characters choices are poor. The stubbornness of others almost get annoying.
But don't give up on this early,
It gets so deep and really is , deep down, a really healing show.
You get attached and get to understand most characters and you end up only wanting to know more about more characters.
Also, you'll probably wanna go and visit Jeju.

There is no shame between Friends- Jang Ingwon
Blue is indeed the warmest color that hugs you perfectly inside out. Just like the blue color of the sea, Our Blues is a multi characterized 20 ep melodrama full of comedy romance and as the title suggests, Blues. Everyone's blues approaches them in their life, which brings the characters to the raw beautiful tranquil settings of Jeju, where they settle their problems with the kind, nosy yet welcoming people.If you're in a mood to watch a drama that's easygoing, simple and ready to watch, our blues should get on your list 💜💜💜

The drama is slow but feels too short.
I don’t usually write reviews, but wow, this drama was just so good.It really pulls you in and makes you feel like you're part of the community. I laughed when they laughed, cried when they cried, it was such an emotional ride.
What I loved most is how it shows people trying their best to be happy and grow, even when life gets really dark. It handles so many real issues in a thoughtful way. Nothing felt forced or overly dramatic, it just felt real.
It touches on things like:
* Poverty
* Depression and suicide
* Teenage pregnancy and abortion
* Forgiveness
* Friendship
* Having a child with special needs
* Love
...and more.
The way these topics were handled made me think, but also feel comforted. It’s like a reminder that no one’s alone in their struggles.
> “We were born to be happy. We wish everyone happiness.”
Highly recommend this one. It stays with you.

Never been sadder
No literally this is such an incredible refreshing drama. The drama follows multiple sets of characters, who rarely ever interact with one another, their stories interconnect so perfectly. Genuinley I've never felt more for characters before, it is simply the reality of life and I'm crying after each episode. I particularly love the storyline with the teeange couple. these topics are rarely discussed in general, let alone the kdrama scene. It is simply one of my favorite drama's of all time.Was this review helpful to you?
