my roman empire lawl
genuinely keeled me… i don't even wanna speak on it butthe cinematic experience was crazy and i never look at plums the same anymore...
To me personally, bora is one of the most selfless and realistic depictions of a loyal friend, despite yeondu being an obvious complication for woonho and bora's relationship i think it's good to remember the age of which this takes place for both bora and yeondu.
Many may think bora is stupid for her choices but imo they're realistic to her age and true to her personality which can be referenced when yeondu confront's woonho about her and bora's feelings and how much a genuine friend she is, as bora prioritises and values her friendship with yeondu over everything. Additionally, bora's decisions remind the audience that she is still a young girl in highschool and went about her life as she thought would be best for everyone, which can apply to yeondu too. The only reason why the viewer may feel frustrated is due to being able to see woonho's perspective throughout the film and the drag of their love story. Still, a story will always need a complication lol.
I went into this with no knowledge of the plot besides the teasers as I watched it upon its release to netlfix in 2022 expecting a wholesome nostalgic romance and then was left feeling like I got shanked at the end IJBOL. (wooseok PLEASE stay alive i beg)
Youjung and Wooseok's performance here was so refreshing to watch and their depictions of the feelings of the characters despite only having so much time for a movie to convey the plotline made this so enjoyable to sit down and watch (They need their flowers fr).
Finally, when we skip to the future bora in 2022 I think a part of me died seeing mother han hyojoo's 5 minutes of screentime for acting excellence when viewing woonho's final tape for bora... I lost years from my lifespan after this movie lol.

The ending kinda sucked
I just wanted to say before I type my thoughts on the movie that this is my very first review. I never write reviews because I have never needed to. Even if something was bad, I appreciated what it was trying to do and enjoyed it for what it was but for this movie. I had something to say.I didn't like how it ended. The main male lead dying like that in such an unexplained way and out of nowhere took me out of the story. The only reason I rated it this high was because everything but that ending was great in my opinion. This movie would have gotten a much higher score if they did the normal happy ending route where he comes back and they live happily ever after, or alternatively, they would have committed more to the death and built up to it better. Right now the death was very very abrupt and it is not clear what exactly happened to him which left me more confused and unsatisfied than sad as the ending should have been.

do not recommend watching it but if u have to then skip the last half an hour
i just watched love untangled and i loved it so much and i searched for movies like love untangled and the first thing i saw was 20th century girl. i didnt watch the trailer, i didnt read any reviews and i didnt even see the rating and i started watching this movie. not gonna lie i loved it soo veryyy muchhh!!! it had a strong starting and i really liked the character of bo ra. she was a loyal friend and i loved her chemistry with the others. every scene made me giggle and happy. it was such a cute story which had many opportunites to end with a cliche yet heartwarming ending but the writers really messed it up. to all the people who are like" but this is what real world is like! not everything goes our way. i feel like the story had a real ending and im happy it didnt have a cliche ending" shut uppp!!!! if i wanted real world i would've just looked in the mirror!!this was supposed to be a romcom! and if the writers didnt want to make it another cliche romcom then they could've decided with another story. this was a story which was cute and fluffy and showed us love and friendship. it didnt have to have a tragic ending. i mean what do u mean he died???? he was a fine man and he didnt have any health issues mentioned before in the movie and he had no damn reason to die and they didnt mention the reason too! i usually never write reviews but this movie really pissed me off!! like they are being lovey dovey one moment and then he stops texting all together and then he dies??um what???it was a really forced ending. i feel like they tried something like 2521 but ended up extremely horribly!!!! i do not recommend watching this movie or if u do skip the last half an hour! except the ending everything is greatWas this review helpful to you?

i watched this a weeks ago and wow like.. wow
it’s been a week i watched 20th century girl and just a few minutes ago i watched some edits of it and i'm not lying i’m in tears again. legit tears... why does my heart feel so heavy? why do i feel so empty at the same time? i can't stop crying, i thought it would be a romantic comedy, so it felt like a bucket of cold water.imagine not knowing he passed away, only 15 years later she found out the truth, it gave serious emotional heartaches ㅠ.ㅠ what hurts more is that there really was no closure, how they ended it like that... he literally disappeared from the screen after they parted ways and she never had the chance to really say goodbye i have no words anymore just tears... rest in love, poong woon ho ♡

What a beautiful movie.
I will not tell about the story itself, don’t want to spoil anything. You should watch it, without any one or anything disturbing you.I would actually like to give the story and acting 12 stars. I will not forget this movie about friendship and freshness of first love. It made a great impression on me. It touched me in my heart.
The movie is the writers and directors debut of Bang Woo-ri.
Young, but already great actors - especially the ML and FL. She - Kim Yoo-jung started acting when she was only 4 years old. He - Byeon Woo-seok is als known for the 2020 drama series Record of Youth. I’ll keep following their careers.
A story like real life. Great script. No flaws or down point, everything had a natural flow.
For the music: for me it had no part in the movie - I was so involved in what happend. Duration of the movie was good. I watched the movie on Netflix.

Bittersweet but warm
As the tag mentions, it is well and truly a melodrama, be aware. I have seen many comments describing it as a Rom-Com and thus being shocked at the course of the film. No, it is a beautiful melodrama film with endearing characters and a good melodramatic twist without too much dramatic overload. I even hesitated to actually categorise it as such. Overall it was very comfortable to watch and one of these films one could watch again for its warmth.Unfortunately there is a plot hole nearing the end that kind of diminished the tears to replace them with incomprehension. As another comment mentioned. I have also noticed this wave of desire to create unique twists or endings to not fall within the "typical Korean romance story" but that is sometimes being done at the detriment of a sensible storyline.
Fortunately, here it was more of a missing explanation rather than a plot hole per se. Hence, for this missing detail I took out half a mark but the story still remains beautiful and warm in your heart. I hope you will be able to enjoy it and let your heart melt into the story just like I did.

That it was amazing!!
I first saw this movie on TikTok and I was low key scared to watch it cause everyone said it was sad. But when I was watching it, it turned out so amazing. The storyline is good and really heart touching. If you ever watch this movie you’ll probably most likely be touched and will end up loving this movie. That’s how good it is! And at the end I can say I did cry ALOT but it was worth it! I also want to say that the cast is so goo! Their acting skills are on point. I love some of the actors characters they played them well. And some of them were so funny and some of the scenes were so funny or cute and some were sad but in general the cast did a good job!Was this review helpful to you?
decent
i dont like it as much as most people do and just see it as a mediocre basic movie..i dont know if i didnt get the full message of the movie but i actually cant recall any significant scene from that movie as i just felt bored through out it all.. i know most people dont agree with me but thats just how i saw the movie and it was just a basic romance with a sad and depressing ending.. maybe if they made the ending differently it would’ve made a difference but really nothing about this was special. im not saying its not good but because so many people put so many high expectations on this movie i thought it was going to give more than what it gave so it disappointed me!

lack of information and appeal
It's really very good and the characters are charming. the production was smart enough to appeal to the point of making yendoo have heart problems, which makes us feel sorry for her all the time. for me it was missing some information at the end about bo-ra's brother, yeondoo's situation, woonho's cause of death. Overall, it's a funny movie and fun to watch. hehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehhehehehehehehhehehehehehehehheehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehhehehehhehehehehehehehehehWas this review helpful to you?

Not happy ending.
Ok so he is dead in the end. Weird twist;the movie would have been just fine had he been alive and went back to see her. Keeping one promise is paramount!
Fine I get it. You wanted to throw a curve ball 😒 in there so you decided you wanted to negatively interrupt the viewer emotions with a crazy ending.
Atleast show or say how he died.
I didnt invest 2hours of my life just to be left bewildered.
Crazy!! am not happy at all, I wish I didn't watch it moving forward I will be checking Asian movies and dramas for happy ending, before watching.
I don't know what's the crazy obsession to have unhappy ending.
For crying out loud! Put the dramatic emotional roller coastsr in the middle and give us the happy ending.
trust me if the heartache is in the middle, we will still feel the pain, especially if it was well written and portrayed well by the actors.
Going back to movie removing my rating from a 8 to a 7.
got me thinking i missed something, like how did he died!!!!!

GO WATCH IT!!!
OMG the movie is EXCELLENT. The story is great. The movie keeps you engrossed in the story and leaves you in suspense throughout, especially at the end, whether she will meet him or not, but I didn't expect her to die at all. Still, I'd love to know why, but being unlimited, let your imagination go wild. The movie is very good, the actors are very charismatic and very talented. The story is brilliant, with an ending you don't even expect. They also brought tears to my eyes, but it depends on the person. The story is emotional, but if you don't get emotional quickly, you won't cry Overall, the movie is brilliant. Definitely worth seeing. 10 out of 10 SUREWas this review helpful to you?
