Strong FL and ML but too many plotholes

When I watched the first episode, i felt that it was really promising, with the FL as a modern soldier turned bodyguard leading a group of biologist in a forest looking for specimens.they were attacked by a giant serpent and while protecting the group, she fell into a cavern or some sort. As the FL was looking for a way out, she stumbled upon a dagger which transmigrated her to ancient time Longyuan Continent after she unsheathed it. The girl FL woke up in was an illegitimate daughter of the chancellor of Tianque, who had been mistreated all her life growing up in the mansion as her mom the concubine died early when she was a young. The story followed FL’s journey to find a way to return to her time, while at the same time standing up for herself in the family who had mistreated her. Turned out she had a body that is immune to all kinds of poisons, and the 4th prince -the ML- her evil sister was aiming for had taken a liking at the FL during the consort candidate lineup, and chosen her as the princess consort instead of the original arrangement by the emperor for him to be with FL’s sister.

As princess consort, the FL had to keep dodging bullets thrown at her by her own family, the royal family and others who looked down upon her, while trying to find a way back to her time. She was also thrown into the royal political turmoil surrounding the ML while at the same time finding herself falling in love with him.

I liked the FL in the earlier parts of the show cuz she’s good at the portrayal as an arrogant, confident and self-reliant young lady, the personality that is apt for a soldier and bodyguard of modern time. She’s also very beautiful and pleasing to the eye. However as the story progresses, i found her to be rather stiff and wooden in intimate and romance scenes. She liked to put up a puzzled/clueless face in such scenes, and she’s really bad at sad scenes too. The emotion just didnt come through. Also, she’s just too mischievous and lively as princess consort compared to the serious persona she had in the first episode as a weapon wielding soldier. The contrast is just too big. I would expect her demeanor should be closer to Ren Xin’s in A Journey to Love as she was member of the armed forces before transmigrating. Maybe the writer forgot that she was a transmigrator rather than a native of the ancient time.

The number of times FL got kidnapped and captured hence tortured by ML’s and her enemies is also ridiculous to the point of being comical. It just seemed like FL’s superpower is getting kidnapped and captured repeatedly right up towards the end. How can a modern special force get so bad at defending herself all while posessing superb ancient ability like sword wielding, cultivating inner power and qinggong, archery and horse riding? It became comical because these ancient abilities had nothing to do with her special forces training or even the ability of the original owner of the ancient FL’s body. 😂 she just automatically became good at everything after transmigrating. Funnier even that she became good at everything and yet still need to be saved by ML over and over again. Gosh the plot repeats so much that I literally rolled my eyes and laughed. One thing i was grateful is that they did not use the common and ever so popular “got injured, in a coma, woken up with an amnesia” plot.

As for the ML, i thought he looked too old to portray a 20yo+, and isnt as handsome as most ML of other shows that i’ve seen. But one thing i had to admit, he looked very masculine and manly befitting the role as a prince who rose to power by his achievements on the battlefield. He basically volunteered to go to war at 14yo just to escape the awful life he had in the palace. The actor grew into me just like The Rebel Princess’ General Xiao Qi who didnt give much impression in earlier episodes but grew into the audience as the story progresses. The ML’s emotional expressions in all of his scenes came through unlike the wooden FL. The way he looked at FL also looked convincing, in the beginning when he was intrigued by her origins, and later as a longing lover. The happiness, sadness, anger, crazy, basically everything was executed perfectly well, as opposed to the FL who would always looked confused/clueless even when she was supposed to be looking into the eyes of the love of her life.

The show also had a ridiculous amount of flashback scenes which some can be repetitive too! Omg, i fast-forwarded so much of those. They also love to do slowmos which i ff too. What a waste of time. I guess thats why i manage to finish everything in under 3days. There’s many unnecessary scenes which are lengthy! I didnt like the scenes with second ML so i ff most of them too.

Other casts arent impressive too, many had to work harder. The supporting ML looked so awkward around FL and some of the other casts overact. I also fail to understand the plot about finding music scores to discover the origin of ancient FL. And it is also funny that the distance between kingdoms looked so close that they can move from one capital to another in a matter of a short time like they just went through a portal or something. Gosh so many plotholes and the plots are predictable too! The ending is also too stereotypical for time travel genre.

However all in all it is an enjoyable show. Both the FL and ML are likable and they looked good for each other. I could feel the attraction between the two. The storyline on the other hand, needed better writing. I understand that it was a novel adaptation, so it is acceptable that the plot might have been cramped to fit into 40 episodes.

Could have been so much better!

I had high expectations from this series, seeing the leads were such accomplished actors, but the poor editing and mediocre music of this series proved that only having a good story and great actors is not enough, a good series requires good cinematography, excellent camera angles, and a near perfect editing. The transition between episodes was ill placed and there were countless abrupt scenes-endings, which dampened the effect of the basic storyline. The series could have been made a little shorter and crispier, eliminating unnecessary plot-twists and unwanted characters who added nothing to the script. Yao Chi looked amazing in his character and he did perfect justice to his role as the second lead, that said, I would have liked it more if the dialogues assigned to him would have been better scripted. The lead actors, Zhang Han and Zhu Xu Dan were great, because they are inherently good actors, but I would have loved to see better costumes for Zhang Han and some more romance and chemistry between the leads. In the end, even excellent actors require a good script and great camera-work to bring their characters to life. Seven stars to this series for Zhang Han, Zhu Xu Dan and Yao Chi !!

The main leads makes this drama a must watch

Initially, I was hesitant about diving into another drama featuring a transmigration female lead, especially one that might end on a bittersweet note. Yet, despite my reservations, my curiosity got the better of me, and I found myself clicking 'play' yet again.

The turning point came when I stumbled across a YouTube video showcasing the drama's clips. I was engrossed in it, captivated by the chemistry between the main leads. As soon as the video finished, YouTube's algorithm kicked in, suggesting more related clips, and I couldn't resist watching them, too.

I am particularly fond of strong female characters, especially those with impressive martial arts skills, and this drama appeared to tick all the boxes.

Eager to learn more, I headed over to kisskh to check the ratings and skim through some comments.

I genuinely appreciate seasoned drama actors; I’m drawn to characters portrayed by mature, manly figures rather than boyish ones. This drama certainly delivered on that front, and I was pleased with the performances and chemistry.

While the central storyline wasn't groundbreaking or incredibly innovative, the true strength of the drama lay in its supporting cast. I recognized several secondary actors and actresses who had impressed me in previous shows. Their presence added depth and enjoyment, making the viewing experience worthwhile.

Overall, this drama is a solid pick for anyone looking for entertainment. It’s receiving an underrated rating, considering the competent performances and engaging interplay among the characters.

While the overall drama may not stand out as particularly memorable, there are definitely a few scenes that leave a lasting impression. A solid 8.5/10.

Finalmente completata!!

Serie appena completata.
Mi sarei aspettata un finale con maggiore suspance come in "Dreaming back to the Qing Dynasty".
Lo rivedrei? No, troppe puntate non interessanti, per me.
voto complessivo 7.5/10

Quite hesitant to watch this, cause my experience with Zhu Xu Dan as the FL never good. But people keep saying this one is good & the YouTube keep give me the scene. It's all successfully attract my attention to press that play button. Let's discuss drama...

Story about Han Zi Qing (ZQ), an illegitimate daughter of the prime minister with Jun Bei Yue (BY) the 4th Prince. ZQ comes from the future, she come to the past due to a dagger & at first she keeps find her way back to her timeline. One day, she joined 4th Prince bride selection & she catch the glimpse of the dagger in 4th prince waist. Because of the dagger, ZQ decided to accepted BY proposal & since that day, she kept try to find her way to gain BY's trust & get the hand to the dagger.

But of course, their story not ended with the dagger. As the story goes, we find out turn out so many secrets about ZQ herself. And little by little BY & ZQ gain each other trust & their feeling for each other also deepen over time.

That's pretty much the story without giving the spoiler. Now what I like and don't.

What I like:
+ First time I really like Zhu Xu Dan as FL. She's really good as Han Zi Qing
+ I really like the chemistry between Zhu Xu Dan & Hans Zhang.

What I don't like:
- The weird angle. I don't know is just because Hans Zhang don't want to kneel or what... But all the kneeling scene for ZQ and BY really shoot at the weird angle that doesn't make sense or just plainly been cut from the scene. That's sometimes distract me in a weird way.
- The story just feel so heavy... With all the secret about ZQ and all the intrigue between kingdom. The last few ep quite bored me. I skip quite a lot....
- ZQ is really one special girl. OMG it's like she can't dead. So many damn time people try to killed her but unsuccessful

Overall this quite good a story for you to watch...

A Solid 9/10

Modern time character meets ancient China.

Fateful love . presents an intriguing premise: an illegitimate daughter thrust into the world of political intrigue and forced to rely on the protection of the God of War, Jun Bei Ye. The story promises a captivating blend of romance, action, and political drama, but unfortunately, it falters due to its rushed pacing and a plot that feels overly ambitious.

The initial encounter between Han Zi Jing and Jun Bei Ye is compelling. Their contrasting personalities, the forced circumstances that bind them, and the burgeoning romance between them all hold promise. LOVE-LOVE THE COMEDIC PART. Fighting scenes are well choreographed. However, the narrative quickly expands to encompass a multitude of tribes and kingdoms, each with their own agendas and motivations. This creates a sense of overwhelming complexity that ultimately detracts from the core story.

While the main plot involving the islanders and the villains is engaging, it gets lost amidst the constant introduction of new factions and characters. The story feels fragmented, with too many threads vying for attention. The result is a sense of ambiguity and a lack of depth in character development. The potential for a compelling exploration of the relationships between Han Zi Jing and Jun Bei Ye, and their individual journeys of self-discovery, is unfortunately overshadowed by the sprawling nature of the plot.

The acting, particularly from the lead actors, is commendable. The chemistry between the female lead (FL) and the male lead (ML) is undeniable, and their performances effectively convey the emotional complexities of their relationship. However, the direction and blocking sometimes feel uneven, resulting in scenes that lack fluidity and impact.

The visual effects, while not groundbreaking, are generally acceptable. The initial scenes are visually appealing, but the introduction of numerous tribes and kingdoms leads to a decline in visual quality. The visuals become increasingly generic and forced, detracting from the overall aesthetic of the drama.

The OST is pleasant, but the recurring background music feels out of place in certain scenes. The music often clashes with the tone of the drama, creating a jarring effect. A more nuanced approach to the background music would have enhanced the emotional impact of the story.

Overall,
Fateful Love is a promising drama with a captivating premise. Salute to Hans Zhang for carrying all the weight of giving the drama justice and the reason to watch it. However, the ambitious scope of the plot ultimately hinders its potential. The story feels rushed and fragmented, with too many characters and factions vying for attention. While the acting and chemistry between the leads are strong, the uneven direction and the decline in visual quality detract from the overall experience. With a tighter focus on the core plot and a more cohesive narrative, Fateful Love could have been a truly exceptional drama.

It turns out it was a dream

I liked the series in general. However, as in every series, a frenzy of nonsense took over in the last episodes. Chinese scriptwriters can't finish the series they start well in a beautiful, flawless, error-free, logical way. Constant mistakes, wrong things, the guy being a jerk, so what, I did it, it happened. They act like this. They think that it is watched anyway. Or there are many series. Which one should we do properly? All of them are ridiculous. They may think like this. I won't go into all of them, but Bei Yue's mother, who was later found to be a mother, did everything she could. Such a disgrace was watched by everyone. Similarly, the minister in Nanzaho. He did everything he could with full confidence. If the king of Nanzaho threw a knife at a man, he would kill him, they watched. You are the king, brother. All the men are yours. He took you there like a puppet. Then he plays with the ball in his hand. Hit one of you, bring him down. So is this logical? Nobody touches him. The man is making a horse play. They don't agree. I mean, they don't approve of what this guy does, but they watch. The others, the Prince and Princess on the other side, are also struggling with all their being. You'll say, are you stuck here? It's already fantastic. Look, they're dead. They went to the other world. They got the codes from their mother. They came back. They defeated the Minister of Nanzhao. For example, why aren't you stuck on this? I mean, which one should I catch up with? Our scriptwriter is crazy. Come on, add some reality to these series, or fly away when they start so that we don't watch them. They start right. They end wrong. They progress wrong.
I gave the series a 7.5 grade. Actually, I was going to give it a 6, but I gave it to the acting and effort again. I liked the cast. Zhu Xu Dan carried the series. It was good. He also acted well in the action scenes. He did well. Well done. Zhang Han's experience was enough, he mastered his role with his charisma. Yao Chi was very striking. I liked it very much. This role suits him. Hai Ling left halfway through. But he was successful. I don't know if Ryan Ren always plays like this, but I thought he was a little sloppy. It must be due to his role. But he grinned a little. Hao Xiang, Sun Yi, Li Yu Xuan, Luo Shi Qi, Ai Ran, the prince who plays Fei Yan's brother, I couldn't find his name on the list. These were the actors that caught my attention. I liked the acting, direction, costumes. I didn't like the script. I didn't like the writer. Would I watch it again? NO, Would I recommend it? NO. You did a bad thing to the beautiful series, scriptwriter. It could have been much better. A little attention, a little care, a little reality, at least possibility. If you want, check if what I wrote makes sense. Then make it a script. Let me recommend it.

There are better shows out there

ML and FL are gold. Production was clumsy and frankly bad in some parts. I would avoid anything by this producer now. Plot drags on and filled with unnecessary little villains and conflicts that didn’t amount to much in the end. My mind melted by the end of it.

I would not — I repeat with my whole chest — WOULD NOT recommend this who likes a well-produced show with nuanced plot line.

It’s such a shame. I really like the main couple a lot. In acting abilities, appearance and the chemistry, they both are so good. Honestly, they carried the whole show. I would not have watched until the end if it was not for them.

Action & story mostly deliver on this entertaining but unevenly paced show

Bambi Zhu seems to have been very quiet in the last couple of years since her last lead role in Cute Programmer. From the start of Fateful Love, it's nice to see her back at something she's quite good at: being a badass martial artist. Also showcased is a previously underutilized talent - she's funny!

Zhu plays an elite military trained member of a scientific expedition, looking for new medical resources in some un-named jungle. An accidental fall into a cave leads her to discover a mysterious magical blade which transports her into a fictional historical China & into the body of a high ranking minister's daughter. Believing the dagger holds the key to returning to her world, she starts the hunt for it, only to find it in the possession of a royal prince.

While some body switch shows have the main character losing her memory & all of her skills, Han ZiQing remains fully aware of her previous existence, while gradually gaining the memories of her new life. She tries to hide her skills while secretly using them to find a way back to her world in the present. This creates comic encounters which might not seem very original but are deftly delivered by the cast. More importantly, one can develop sympathy for the FL & be interested in how she will get through her predicament as she gets more & more involved in the affairs of this strange new world.

I wonder why Zhu hasn't been cast with higher profile co-stars lately & this production looks rather low budget. But that doesn't mean the show isn't good. Although the ML is a veteran & I recognize very few other cast members, each delivers a decent performance & the story moves along smoothly.

At 40 eps, however, it's a long show as the FL just goes from one mishap to the other when almost everyone she meets tries to kill her. You forget what happened where without gaining any significant developments in the character, a sign the show is too long. The show only moves because of all the action scenes. The tone changes from lighter to darker & final 10 eps seem to suffer from choppy editing as battles come & go with the same footage & I sometimes didn't know who was fighting whom. Characters' motivations & moods change suddenly with very little build up so here the drama became rushed. Han Ziqing's story also seems to be pushed aside when you'd think she should be getting closer to solving the riddle to getting back to her world. And as bad ass as she started, she seemed to need getting rescued by her prince an awful lot, until she unlocked the door to back to her present at the very end.

All in all, the show was entertaining but an obviously long & complex story was unevenly paced especially at the end.
