The Overbearing Lawyer and his Adorable Assistant.
My rating went back to 8 just because of the ending.Okay, so I actually didn't hate it.
I loved the court cases storyline. Their work life kept me interested in the story. The cases were dark, some sad but they kept me intrigued.
The show was very funny. The FL was my favorite character. She was strong, smart, funny and wasn't a pushover.
I didn't like the ML until maybe during the last final episodes.
The supporting characters were fun especially ML's legal team.
What I hated was that the romance took way too long. Everything started to get fluffy around ep 27 and onwards. Then they decided to bring in a female villain around 30 when the leads were finally comfortable and the show being almost over, THEN they added conflict from 30 onwards, but at least there was no breakup, just separation, which the leads actually needed. ML was just simply overbearing and had to learn to touch grass and breathe.
The conflict with FL's ex brother in law didn't bring me as much joy wjen it ended because it felt unfinished and I wanted to see that ass behind bars.
In conflusion, it was a fun drama, with interesting cases, memorable characters and a lackluster romance, FOR ME.
The epilogue was adorable.

Delightful Slice of Life Romance
I don’t know how the male lead is only 27 when he looks like he’s 37 next to the female lead. From the comment section, a lot of people were upset about the lack of kissing and sex scenes. If you’re looking for that and not a good story with good acting, this isn’t the series for you. Guess people like to see some tonguing with the main couple. Others want a bedroom scene where they actually have sex rather than just the implied scenes where they go into the bedroom. Or the ML saying they’ve done everything except get marry. Maybe people are horny for it to determine if a series is good or not. Personally I don’t need the sex scenes if a series has no story to tell with bad acting that it needs gratuitous sex and kissing to sell the series.
It’s been a while since I have seen such a funny series. The series was so good that I was able to binge it in 3 days.
Cheng Yao is not your typical female protagonist which is why a lot of people find her annoying. They are expecting her to be formulaic to being helpless and needing a man to save her. She is strong willed and believe in using her strengths in unconventional ways to deal with the law and life.
Qian Heng is the tsundere ML who is humbled by the FL in many ways that he grows as person. If this is a trope it is t a boring one in the way it was executed by the actor and story arc.
Wu Jun is such a golden retriever with the FL sister Cheng Xi. I am glad she gave her ex hubby his just desserts in the end.
The Glory and Wealth gang was delightful to the office dynamics.
All the side characters were well fleshed out. The court cases are interesting. The female antagonist wasn’t needed but I guess with 36 episodes they need some juicy toxic drama thrown in.
The mom provided some ridiculous comic relief. Overall, it’s worth watching.

Lovely acting but slow pacing
This has a slow, torturous beginning. Honestly it was kind of hard to watch the ML be mean to the FL and she just smiles and stays bubbly. The pacing was slow too. I don’t mind things progressing at a natural pace but the episodes leading up to the leads being together draaaaaged. And then the writers inserted OW drama. Yikes. If it weren’t for the FL’s and ML’s character arcs, I probably would’ve quit this show.
I like that the FL wasn’t just all about the love she had for the ML. She wanted to be her own kind and professional person and that was lovely. I also love that the ML didn’t start looking around for someone else when the GL didn’t just make things easy for him. So despite the pacing, I watched this show for the mature and realistic development of feelings and relationship between the main leads and the two secondary couples. Lovely acting and fun music that you find yourself randomly humming throughout the day.

Feel-good drama
I am having a mixed feeling about this drama. I am fairly new to Chinese Dramas ,which is why it is quite hard for me to stick to dramas with many (36 too many) episodes. I guess I have no patience for it. The first 15 episodes were cute and fun to watch. Even the ML is starting to warm up to FL. The way he looks at her can melt any other girls into puddles. The chemistry is definitely "chemistrying" for both leads but the FL....Oh god how dense can she be? Can't believe the writer is portraying the FL, who is supposed to be a lawyer but she is acting like a doormat to her ML/boss all the time. She is so dumb at getting the signals the ML is so desperately trying to send to her. And don't get me started on the ML. He is very good looking (probably why I am tolerating this drama) but he is acting like an inexperienced school boy in love. His lines can be cringrey and childish at times. Not cool at all for a so called successful 30 yo lawyer. If the drama keeps on dragging back and forth, without any confession from either of them anytime soon, God help me I will flip the table. It's starting to get on my nerves! The lesson to be learned from this drama: BE HONEST AND CLEAR ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS ALREADY!!! or else we'll be pulling our hair out going around in circles up untill the last episode.

The wonderful C-Drama
The story of Qian Heng and Cheng Yao is my PREFERRED story love ❤️. I would like more collaborations with Chen Xing Xu and Zhang Ruo Nan, they are so cute together 😍.I loved the whole series, the main actors, the story and the music.
One important thing that impressed me was the chemistry between Chen Xing Xu & Zhang Ruo Nan, as they make a wonderful couple in this series.
Unfortunately 😔, many beautiful scenes from the series were cut during editing, but those scenes would have created a phenomenal series.
I would like season 2 of "My Boss" ❤️🇲🇩.

Great drama but had potential to be better
This drama is cute and both leads are in their first relationship so watching them learn together was really cute. On the other hand, I was sometimes getting second hand embarrassment because of the fact that it was their first relationship. For example, their first kiss was soooo embarrassing. They obviously hadn’t kissed before and they both closed their eyes. He wanted to kiss her on her lips but since his eyes were closed he missed her lips and kissed her corner lips/her cheek. The sound effect to make it more embarrassing really did it job cause I had to pause the drama out of embarrassment! Anyways, I really loved Wu Jun (ML’s best friend) and Cheng Xi (FL’s sister), they formed a great mature couple, hey should have their own drama tgt. Plus, their visuals were matching. Their was another couple, Tang Yang and the other guy, in the office, really nice and mature couple, loved them! The ending was rushed but I guess like a lot of Chinese dramas. The ending wasn’t that great as their wedding was super rushed and the kid wasn’t theirs but WuJun’s and Cheng Xi’s. It would have made sense if they had more screen time. Overall great drama. Was this review helpful to you?

A Relationship with Flaws
I picked this up because I like the actor Chen Xing Xu. He’s a very versatile actor and I have seen him act in different roles. After watching it, I regret not watching this sooner and it is also what led me to write this review.Chen Xing Xu acts as Qian Zheng a cold and strict person to himself and those around him. He has a very strict outlook on life and his own personal ideals. Which led him to success as a lawyer, as he is able to handle any case with a calm and steady mindset with only his clients claims in mind. On the other hand, our female lead Cheng Yao, a rookie lawyer, got into his law firm through some back door and perceives life in a more gentle and naive sense, which led to much conflict. Throughout the story, we see both of them grow their careers and how they both influence each other. They mostly handle family disputes (divorces, inheritances, etc.) so you will rarely see them in court, since cases like these are settled out of court.
I love the story a lot, it is very realistic and there’s no sugarcoating when the FL makes mistakes. While she does get few chances, she learns from it and improves. We see her shape as a lawyer and as an independent woman and it is amazing to see.
Though watching her get many chances and knight in shining armor brings you back to the fact that this is a drama. It infuriates some people who knows if they commit any of the mistakes she was committing, they would have been fired instantly and pushed to face the blame, so that no harm will come to the law firm. I like the fact that it was mentioned as an option, and common practice to do this. So watching the first half of the show was a bit frustrating watching her so naive. While she does get saved by the ML, we see her standing up for herself towards the end. The last couple of episodes was her showcasing her growth, while she has studied under ML, she took what she learned applied her own ideas into the way she handle cases. She didn’t let go of her gentleness, but used what she learned from her mistakes to prevent any mishaps in happening and she aims for clients interests. Not just what client specified which is the ML way to go, but consideration for the overall outcome and with both sides interests in mind.
Overall I will rewatch this, when I run out of stuff to watch. It’s a sweet drama and watch ML treat FL throughout the series was SO SWEET. The best part are the supports, they got me cackling at their jokes and FL co workers way in treating each other was just so heartwarming. Both ML and FL are flawed, they have problems, but are willing to listen to each other and learn. We see them grow as persons and by the end of the story, we see ML learning from FL. Showing how much FL as grown from being told off on what she should do to backing up her input with solid evidence.

Bao Rui was the real star in this drama
I liked the cast, songs and it was pretty cute and fun.Everthing was fine besides the FL.... Unfortunatly Cheng Yao was kinda annoying most of the time and without a reason.
I hope to see Chen XingXu in another dramas in future, because his acting was too good here.
Finally, Bao Rui was the real star in this drama. He made us laugh in every episode, also the rest of the staff were so funny.

clingyness overload!!
My Boss (2024) turned out to be an unexpectedly emotional and engaging ride. While the storyline had its ups and downs, what truly carried the drama for me were the incredible performances from the cast and the beautiful, heartfelt OSTs. Zhou Yiran and Sabrina Zhuang gave such natural, compelling performances that you couldn’t help but root for them even when the script didn’t always do their characters justice. One thing that stood out in a negative way was the portrayal of the male lead. While the actor delivered a strong performance, the writing gave him traits that made him hard to root for at times. He was overly clingy, controlling, and lacked a proper redemption arc. There were moments where a deeper exploration of his flaws and true growth could’ve made his character more redeemable, but instead, his development felt rushed or brushed off. This imbalance was frustrating especially because Ruonan was written with more emotional depth, maturity, and restraint.
Despite this, the chemistry between the leads, the emotionally loaded dialogues, and the warmth of the supporting cast helped make the show memorable. The soundtrack added another level of poignancy, often elevating scenes with its timing and sentiment.
Overall, My Boss (2024) is still a worthwhile drama to watch especially if you love slow-burn romances and character-driven narratives. Just don’t expect a perfectly balanced love story.

Review of About My Boss
“About My Boss” had potential, but the pacing really dragged down the overall experience. The storyline felt unnecessarily slow, making it difficult to stay engaged. One of the biggest disappointments was the female lead. Her character, much like in her previous roles, came across as passive and helpless. It’s frustrating to see someone studying law yet consistently failing to apply it when it matters most. The lack of meaningful communication between the leads was another issue—it took over 21 episodes for any real progress to happen. By then, I found myself skipping through scenes just to get to something substantial.
This drama could have been much better with tighter writing, more dynamic characters, and a plot that actually moves. Some of these series really need a thoughtful rewrite to live up to their potential.

Fluffy Office Romance
Ep 1-30 - enjoyed it more than I expectedEp 31-35 - unnecessary episodes (lost its momentum, I practically fast forward the last three episodes just getting the whole gist of what happened so I could finish it)
Storyline (boss-employee & housemate romance) - cliche but done well except on the last 5 episodes. The chemistry between the two characters is great.
Family law concept - the cases in this drama compared to other law dramas I watched are just so-so. They failed on this concept.
Female lead - I don't get how the FL was cheated by the ML with all those "housemate rules" or double rental issue when she is a lawyer herself. Some of his demands, which the FL readily followed, are ridiculous. Her character development is also not that solid.
Male Lead - character development is better than FL, from being an a-hole boss to best boyfriend. The best ML in all dramas in deflecting the advances of other woman. Hello if only he exists in real life!
The three assistant lawyers are the best. I love them! I feel like their characters have more depth than the FL and ML. They help make the story more enjoyable. The scene when they know that the fl and ml are in relationship is so funny. Their expressions are so spot on!
Overall, it was one of those dramas that started out surprising so well "omg this is good" until it feels dragging there is a good chance you'll likely drop it.
