An absolutely delightful story!

I read many comments about the acting of the FL and people stopped watching because of it. I believe she acted exactly as needed when necessary given the story line. I found this show delightful in it's comedic moments! The ending ties up the story nicely. I highly recommend watching the entire series, it was worth my time!

A delicious gem, don't miss it!

A truly great isekai with Vengo Gao as the ML ♡o。.(✿ฺ。 ✿ฺ)

PLOT: The FL, in a coma following an accident, finds herself in a historical world, in the midst of conflicts between martial arts sects fighting over a hidden treasure. She is saved by the ML, a wandering hero, who swore to the FL's mother to always protect her. He will try to heal her, bring her back to her sect, and discover who poisoned her.

+++ A truly great Vengo Gao, in the role of the hero, powerful, protective, and madly in love. Xuan Lu is also excellent, and the CL has intense, flavorful interactions and great chemistry.
+++ Lively direction, with suspense carried through to the end. The fight scenes are fantastic. Kudos to the actors!
+++ Excellent actors (including the villain sister, whom we all want to see die :)
+++ The OSTs are well-suited, matching the comedy tone of the drama.

=> A delicious gem, don't miss it! I'll definitely watch this series again :)

A fun comedy romance...isekai?

I started this series not knowing what to expect and I found it to be quite fun. The story was interesting enough but what stood out the most to me was the overall tone of the series: it managed to balance quite well the comedic, romantic and more dramatic parts. Even though it's not the most serious drama out there, it's not trying to be one. The fact that our protagonist/FL is transported to this fantasy world adds an extra comedic value and, imo, the actress does a great job in portraying the actitude of her character. If you enjoy lighthearted fantasy dramas with comedy and romance, give this one a try! PS: I need that outro on Spotify asap

Absolutely loved it!!!

I didn't know what to expect cause "martial art" dramas are usually a hit or a miss, too silly or too serious but this one is a gem.
I loved every minute of it and never got bored. The adrenaline is high until the last episode. Not getting filler episodes or endless flashbacks felt so refreshing.
The acting was good especially the main FL. The ml was a bit stiff but I think this was his choice regarding the character more than a lack of talent.
Music was funny, entertaing.
The story revolves around rong, a martial art prodige who get kidnapped and later saved by a misterious man. She manages to get back to her home but while kidnapped she lost her memory and hires this misterious man to help her out while gaining back her lost memories.
There is a twist because our protagonist is actually someone from our time but that doesn't impact on the story that much until the very last episodes.
This drama is the perfect mix if you are looking for action, a bit of comedy a cute love story and pure entertainment.
Definitely recommended.

A wonderful story you need to see to believe

I found this a unique and wonderful series, which doesn't appear that way at first. Once it got past the opening scenes, it quickly became something special.

It starts off ridiculously, but I wonder if that was intentional. The heroine wakes up in the body of a woman who is her but not her in a Jianghu (?) world, tortured and left to die in the desert as a challenge and a trap. The hero rides in and rescues her, avoiding all traps, sweeps her away, and thus begins the story.

That whole sequence is funny and over-the-top, with bad CGI and not-great acting. But that's not what the rest of the story is. It gets better and better, with everything, especially the hero - Yan Shao - and heroine - Feng Yi/Rong Shu Kuang - and their story weaving its way into your heart and firmly holding on. I don't really like 'wuxia' shows much, having tried several but not being able to get into them. This is more like 'Love Game in Eastern Fantasy' in its 'accessibility' - I love this show, and I think others who don't usually enjoy 'wuxia' dramas would like it as easily.

It's not long-winded, there are no heavenly realms or palace dynamics, no long-lasting misunderstandings, no annoyingly innocent, naive heroine with a baby-voice, and many other things that free it to be easily enjoyable. There is humour, fun and games, mystery (several all working in together) that you very much want to be figured out, a great romance between the heroine and hero, and very good fighting scenes - perhaps the best martial arts/fighting scenes I've seen in these shows. It laughs at itself and at other shows like it, which relieves tension and allows it to go and still do those things, but either in a better way - making it work beautifully - or without pretending it's realistic.

Gao Wei Guang is the perfect hero, although he's given terrible hair, capturing the part wonderfully. He's noble, gifted, sensible, protective, humorous, wise, active, thoughtful, honourable, brave, selfless.... as I said, the perfect hero. Xuan Lu is an engaging heroine, who acts just like we want her to. Being from our world, she has a certain freedom in the alternate world. Feng Yi is upbeat and cheerful, friendly, funny, active, curious, smart, genuine, and tenacious. She avoids misunderstandings and takes matters into her hands, instead of letting things just happen. Together, these two are perfect - they rely on each other, sacrifice for each other, tease each other, have fun together, help others together.... their relationship dynamic is fun, sweet, poignant, mature and genuine. It's both fun and endearing watching their journey together.

Supporting characters are well-defined, and well-acted. My gripe is with the three 'wandering masters' - both in their characterisation and acting. But they're not in it too much. The main (visible) villain, Shen Zui Tian, has a strong, good part, and the actor plays him very well. There's a great interlude in two of the later episodes where these 3 characters are thrown together, and it's great fun. He also has great hair, in contrast to our hero, which is annoying. There are some plot holes, which is to be expected, but they're not large and glaring.

It's truly a great series that is much more than it seems to be on the surface. Definitely recommend.

Gao Wei Guang, a man of action!

This drama is not an extraordinary one, but a good one if one's brain has taken backseat and decided to enjoy the ride. Amidst the pros and cons, I have decided to think about the pros and leave cons a thousand miles behind.

1. Gao Wei Guang was awesome. After Candle in the tomb (2019), he got to show his martial prowess in this drama. His acting is good, even his eyes have more expressions than the most other GenZ actors.

2. Jia Nai Na surprised me with her acting. Though people might find her character annoying, I must say, her character was well-written. Such people do exist and are living and breathing around us. And, we often fall victims to their schemes.

3. Ren Hao was good, but his part didn’t give him much space to bloom. He deserved a better resolution.

4. Liu En Jia and Peng Bao are new to me. But, they made me their fan. I am looking forward to their works.

5. Martin Zhang's smirk and his action were on point. His was a gray character. His character was not well-written and explored. But, again! It is a 24-episode-drama.

***Editing is not praiseworthy.
*** I will watch it again in my spare time only for GWG and Jia Nai Na.
***The drama didn’t do justice to GWG's talent.
***Talking about Xuan Lu, if she got a director who could actually give her better guidance, she would outshine all.

Wasted Potential, Dumb FL, and a confusing ending

Rating: 3/10 (1 point for the cool kid, 1 point for the ending concept, 1 point for the first 4 fun episodes)

Overall: A frustrating mess with glacial pacing, a infuriatingly dumb FL, and wasted potential. The final reveal is rushed into the last episode after countless hours of filler.

The Play-by-Play (My Thoughts)
The Beginning (Eps 1-12): Promising, Then Disappointing

The start was fun! A girl gets transported to another world.

The FL is energetic, but also a dummy and childish. By Ep. 11, she has had ZERO character development. Finally, some progress with her wielding a sword!
Ep. 12 (31:30): Her crying doesn't seem real? Her face is just frowning but there are no tears! 🤓

I wish the development of her feelings was slower. It's only Episode 12 and she already wants to stay in this world just because the ML is in it? Why is it always the woman longing?

On a positive note: I love the songs in this cdrama. Ep. 12 (32:40), this song is a chef's kiss 💋. And the opening song is so good! I approve.

I hope she becomes more independent or at least stronger. I am longing for character development!

So the man had to go away for her brain to start working? For her to finally start practicing?
Ep. 13 (8:09): Bro, for real? He is the leader of Tiangang. No worries! 🤠 I can already guess it. Oh, he's mysterious. That's his way of protecting her and making her be close to him, I bet.(when he asked to marry her)

Finally, the FL is acting mature?
Ep. 13 (10:03): No, my love! He wants you.
Ep. 13 (11:41): So you started loving her when she changed? When she was weak? Jerk. I don't like Shaoci.

I wish we could get a glimpse of the original girl in the FL's body. She seemed badass, but it's unlikely we'll see her possess it again.
Ep. 13 (35:40): Why are we wasting time doing childish shit like interrogating one of the attackers? And the FL is acting childish again?

Ep. 14 (6:23): Why did they let their attacker go free? And now she's tied up the FL? No survival instincts.
Because of the FL's stupidity, she got captured by the villain. Are you playing with my nerves?
So the villain is actually the reason why the FL and ML are alive?
The FL is becoming dumber and dumber. She just untied him? This man could have ended both of them. So now the villain is becoming friends with the main characters?

Ep. 14 (30:10): So now the FL has lost her brain cells again and would go around the world with the ML? Girl, didn't you say you would marry to help your manor? When she meets the ML she loses all her brain cells. Even the ML is telling her she isn't using her brain! Please, girl, use it.

Why is this turning into a comedy?
They could have easily killed the villain but obviously didn't—how else would they drag this out?

Ep. 15 (28:10): The FL finally tells the ML she isn't from this world, which I like. But because of the childish way she says it, he doesn't take her seriously 😒. There's dumb music playing in the background. Why does she have to act childish all the time?

Eps 16-24: Dragged Out and Illogical

Ep. 16 (10:45): The small kid the ML saved is becoming one of my favorite characters. He has swag. If the ML doesn't tell the FL he's the leader, I'll take it as him not taking her seriously 😒.

The sick girl is obviously the spy. She tried to poison the kid who was working with the villain! The kid told you! Does that not ring a bell? It's all to drag this out.

Currently on Ep 17. For about 3 episodes, we've been doing the same boring shit. How long will they drag this out until she finally marries the Tiangang leader? PMO.

So the FL's maid was a spy. The ML let her go free after she was proven to have betrayed the FL. The maid is working with the sick girl (Young Lady Lin), who is also a villain. Letting her live served no purpose. And because they let her leave, the maid now has a knife to the FL's throat.

This had so much potential! Even after the maid learned it wasn't the FL's fault for her parents' deaths, she still colluded with the enemy. She knew who she should go after once the ML told her.

Ep. 17 (11:46):

FL: "Would you be willing to give up everything for an obsession?" 💀😭

The irony! You should ask that to yourself because that's exactly what you are doing.

Oh, the ML said he would, and the FL agreed that she would too? Bruh.

FL: "So what you are saying is that I am the most useless and always need protection?"

Gurl 💀 Yes, you do. Sadly, the writers decided to make you obsessed with a man since episode 4.

The ML answers that she is not? Please, bro, stop lying to her. She needs to use that brain. She has done almost nothing useful until now.

Oh, hell yeah, the writers couldn't hold back! A woman who loves the villain and would do anything for him, even though he doesn't notice her. She seems like a cool character just wasted on this pitiful "love".

Ep. 17 (28:25): The FL uses her power? What a blessing. (Sarcasm) The writers decided to make the FL use her power randomly. This is so disappointing.

Ep. 18 (14:05): Oh, what a new idea! The ML has to choose between saving himself or the FL? I already know the answer. 😗 Obviously, the medicine to heal him is something really rare that takes 30 years to grow!

Ep. 18 (21:27): Oh, finally! He told her he was the disciple of her mother. Bro took 18 episodes to say five words.
Oh, girly finally tells him she isn't the girl he's been searching for all along. Finally, something serious.
The ML's face is literally like this: 👁️👄👁️

Ep. 18 (32:10): Even now, the FL can't save anything or protect herself.
Ep. 18 (34:50): The ML finally decides to use his brain and suspect Young Lady Lin as a traitor. Why is she so fixated on the ML? Again! A woman obsessed with a man! Do women not have anything else to value except men?(this is towards the writers!)

Ep. 19 (8:50): I do feel bad for Lady Lin. Wanting to be like someone else is an endless torture. Maybe in another life, she can have a strong body and travel the world like she wanted.
Bro, the villains are still alive? This is just repetitive. They attack, the good guys kill some, the villains leave and come back later. At least in the start, they were actually planning.

Ep. 19 (15:40): The FL randomly uses her martial arts? I know the cure helped her heal from the poison, but how does she magically know how to kill? All this time, the FL hasn't killed anyone, but now she does? Now that she's away from the ML, she's acting a bit serious.

Let me guess what's going to happen! The ML will die in this world and wake up in the FL's world, and the FL will wake back up in her original world, and they will be together. Now he is sick and dying.

Lady Lin is still calculating her bullshit? All of this could have been avoided if they had just put her in a cell. 🥹

Ep. 20: Yep, obviously he was the leader. I knew it. But why is he not showing the FL he is the leader? This makes no sense. Just tell her! She will be happy. I know you're dying, but bro, I have had enough of this stupidity.
The ML is wearing a mask to hide himself from the FL. Why, bro? What does that even help? Just dragging it. The ML is so stubborn not to show his face; it's annoying 😭.

Ep. 21 (7:08): Finally! Yes, FUCKING YES! Someone said it! The ML's guard finally tells him: "If you marry her as Chu Tianyao, you're hurting both yourself and her." Someone with brain cells! All of this could have been avoided if the ML could just communicate.

Ep. 21 (16:28): The ML says he was jealous of himself? 👁️👄👁️ (Jealous of his leader persona, Chu Tianyao). This just sounds immature, and the drama just dismisses it.
The ML doesn't care that the FL isn't the original person in her body. This makes me feel bad for the original owner. I would have rather seen her story than the FL's.

Ep. 21 (28:40): A flashback of the original owner of the FL's body. She is so badass! We lost the chance to see a baddie 😞. Why did they make her seem like a softie? At least she knew how to fight, and people said she wasn't one to get involved with.

Ep. 24: And the villain is still undefeated and thriving? 😀 And that Young Lady Lin is still free?
Ep. 24 (27:05): And the FL randomly uses her martial arts like an expert? These skills just come back whenever they're needed.

The whole time, the ML couldn't stop lying. Liar.

Oh yeah, I was right. He woke up in her original world and started to remember what happened. He finds her in the hospital; in this world, he is a doctor.
Kind of confusing.
Final thoughts:
Such a disaster and a disgrace.

My biggest complaint is the pace is really slow. They actually reveal everything in the last episode and give 70% of the screentime to that b*tch! The reaction when they found out the mastermind was so quiet and awkward.
That b*tch died too easily, and Shen Zuitian's sudden burst of power was out of place. In short, a waste of my time! I think this is for It is viewers who want:
A low-stress, brain-off viewing experience
A fluffy, tropey romance without complexity
A protective Male Lead and a "cutely" dependent Female Lead
Not looking for a tight, logical narrative. Turning of their their brain.
The acting was good(specifically the ml's actor)
I think there were so much more that could have been shown. Maybe, the past of some characters instead of the same repetitive non funny scenes? I would have loved it so much more if it was explained as to how did the fl went to the other world. Like what happened to the original owner of fl's body? What did she knew about the traitor?

Beautiful OST but above all, a great female protagonist. Her character is intelligent, passionate and even funny. How can you not love her?
I honestly didn't quite understand the ending. How does she return to modern life? The doctor finds her in the hospital, then they go by car and find themselves in the desert, him in warrior style near the horse, alive again. Another parallel life? You could have thought it was all a dream but like this, it's not clear.

Interesting Story Spoilt by irritating FL

Overall the story is interesting and engaging enough. Production is average in budget hence you cannot expect too much from the set (which is ok). However, the acting of the FL is not good. She overacts as the cheerful and cute person. I think this is Xuan Lu’s first FL role and she looks awkward and it shows in her mannerisms and speech. If she tones it down a bit it would be good, like all her other roles. I actually like her before this drama. Hence it’s disappointing. She is better as a SFL. As for the actor Vengo GAO he is extremely handsome but timeline wise it doesn’t look good as he is supposed to be 25 years old max. VG looks more matured than that and just can’t pull off from that age angle. His extremely handsome face and good acting is the savior. Overall if you have nothing to watch or waiting for new episodes of other better dramas (like me) then this is not bad (better than watching those hyper sexual shallow-story mini dramas).

Bad Woman Lin Show

I liked the series in general. It started off well. It was interesting. It seemed different to me. It seemed different from the dramas we are used to. However, the casting was not good, the story was not settled, it was scattered, a bad woman was created, a semi-unhealthy, constantly coughing, such a familiar type and a sneaky woman hiding under it. The actor was surprising. Although I said it did not suit her at first, later on it was a portrayal that I could say okay, especially our actor did the sickly state well. I leave the rest to everyone's discretion. In my opinion, he was not a suitable actor for the role. I liked some of the cast. I did not like some. They included too many bogeyman actors. You can't have just anyone play a bandit. The cast was not good in this respect. But generally the prominent characters were good.
The second thing that caught my eye was that the bad woman Lin was not noticed, whether she was noticed or not, and even though she was known among the bad ones, she was treated badly but was still held in high esteem. Yan Shao protects and looks after this character whom he has suspected from the beginning, and in the end he is convinced that she will harm him. He doesn't tell anyone. What can he say to his brother? She is supposedly a sick woman. They tell her not to leave the house. They lock her in a room. She appears wherever they go. No one asks you if you are sick and what are you doing here. They just ask why you came. They don't ask how you came. You know that you are sick and since you came all the way here and came out of everywhere, you are not sick. One would be suspicious. The brothers don't hear. Only Yan Shao hears. The father doesn't know anyway. When they realize that she is bad, they don't even intervene. He poisons one person at a time. He throws dust at one and smokes at the other. He spreads poison and so on, but nothing happens to the woman. No one even asks why he is doing it. Can such a character exist? Is there such a story? Make it up and move it. Just write it down and it won't happen. Please be a little more convincing. Screenwriters. Please. Gao Wei Guang and Xuan Lu played well as the leads. I especially liked the male actor's stance and the female actor's liveliness. Jia Nai Na was very good as the sick woman in my opinion. She was weak in the other bad woman case. There was no body language. She speaks with her face but cannot adjust her body accordingly. She looks very sloppy. Martin Zeng, Ren Hao, Peng Bo, Yuan Yu Xuan were the standouts.

Light, Silly and Forgettable - Gao Wei Guang Deserves Better

A confident heroine and a sweet, silly romance, blending martial arts with lighthearted moments, make Love and Sword an easy, breezy watch for some viewers. However, for me, it felt far too light—offering little substance in its script and story, with mindless entertainment and cheap humor at its core. I greatly admire the male lead, Gao Wei Guang, whose acting here is a solid 10, but considering the rest of the cast’s performances, my overall acting score for the drama drops to a 6. I could only push through the first six episodes before stopping. The plot felt silly, characters lacked depth, and the tone came across more like unintentional satire than purposeful light drama. Gao Wei Guang is a seasoned, versatile actor, but this role felt too childish for his talent—a script not worthy of his abilities.
