Her Furture Sealed with a Kiss °6.8° °goodish°

“I love the way the lobby feels when it's raining.” Sul gazes outside wistfully. Her coworker can see that she must have lost her mind: “It's sunny out! You're working too hard!” “I saw it. My 6th sense…” 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… ⚡🌧 🌩 Sul can't finish her sentence before the deluge begins.

💋6S is a 2022 release that is rated 88 on AWiki. It is 1 season consisting of 12 70-minute episodes. The show, being just 12 episodes, ends before things get too stale. It's nicely paced throughout. It has wonderful moments and some lovely shots. The blood moon over the lake shot in eps11&12 is really nice. Overall, the show is a mixed bag and, pretty much, tops out as acceptable time-filler.

There's a reason the divine has not granted mere humans the power of seeing the future. We would never live today if we were always consumed with tomorrow. If I had known some of the tragedy headed my way, I would have had a different life, and while I would go back now and change quite a bit, knowing what was coming would not have improved anything. I suspect it would have made things worse.

Sul sees death, misfortune, rain… too many scoldings she lives through twice - the preview and the main event. Sure, she sees some good stuff, but it's mostly bad. She kissed her father's hand at the hospital and saw his death. When she kissed her boyfriends, she always saw another woman in their futures. Not her. ALL of them. She decided she's not kissing anyone. Ever. Never again.

Sul is an AE, which means she works her sleep-deprived rump off in advertising. Her supervisor, Cha, is a legend. He's so good at handling clients that he almost reads their minds, it seems. Sul has learned everything from him. And she's hated him at every moment. He /finds/ ways to torture her. She doesn't believe he can sleep at night unless he's stomped on her self-esteem. He's rude and gruff. When we look into her memories, he might be saying horrible things like her clothes aren't acceptable, but he also pulled out a credit card and told her to go get something to wear. He pulled out his credit card on a couple of occasions, so his hands aren't the problem. His mouth is.

Yoon Kye Sang (The Kidnapping Day, The Winning Try) “Cha” Min Hoo. I've only seen him in Chocolate-6.5, and he's completely different here as a blunt, almost omniscient-seeming man. Seo Ji Hye (Dinner Mate-7.2, Crash Landing on You-9.1) plays Hong Ye “Sul”. She comes over as sincere and comfortable. She's a very good FL. Kim Ji Suk (When the Camellia Blooms-8) is Sul's ex, Lee “Pil” Yo. He's now a celebrated director and he'll be doing one of the agency's ads. We learn that he wants to see Sul again. Why is this guy the one who usually doesn't get the girl? I think he would be a solid ML. He can project comfort and sincerity. He gets the girl in My Unfamiliar Family-7.9 (that isn't a spoiler) but that show isn't really a romance. It's a drama about family relationships. The director is Nam Ki Hoon (Tunnel-8.1, Destined with You) and the screenwriter, Jeon Yoo Ri, brought us Radio Romance & Last Summer.

Now Sul… she's clumsy. We see her trip and fall several times in the beginning of the show. (It should have happened in the later episodes too, at least once, for consistency's sake). As ep1 closes, she and Cha are cleaning up a filming site… for a BED commercial (I know. T😄😃 easy). It's been raining so everything's wet. She slips, falls onto him, next their on top of the bed, and she's on top of him, and their lips touch. She's instantly treated to augering Future-Them getting hot and heavy. Very hot. Very heavy. He had a (fully healed) scar on his back when she foresaw the future. He doesn't have one now. This won't happen right away.

Next we'll see that Cha can't kiss without significant fallout either. He becomes very sick and Sul has to carry him up to his apartment on her back. He's still sick the next day. We learn that kissing women causes him near unbearable pain for several hours. He puts on dark glasses and noise canceling headphones because his senses are heightened. He can hear a mouse step on a cotton ball - from across the street. In the next episode he carries /her/ on /his/ back when she's drunk. They are already mirroring eachother.

Why was she drunk? Pil showed up. She's the project lead for the commercial he's directing. She'll have to see him a bunch, and she didn't handle Day-1 well. He wants to get back together. He sprang that on her Minute-1. So she drinks-dranks-drunks, and Cha ends up tending to her. She tells him her secret, so he kisses her to test it out. Sadly, the next morning, she can't remember much. If she saw the future after that 💋, she has no memory of it. All Cha knows is that, for once, he's not experiencing the agonizing symptoms that he usually does after contact with a woman. Sul goes to work that day in a confused state. Pil corners her pushing guilt over the past in order to extort three dates from her. He wants a chance to win her back.

Later that day, Sul tells Cha she was too drunk to remember if she saw anything. He suggests they check again: Ep6 ends with a romantic montage that is very lovely. It's all in the future, it hasn't happened yet.

While all this is going on, Sul & Cha's two best friends have met, coincidentally. They're completely unaware of the existing connection between them. Their romance is actually pretty cute - all fun and sparkle, and a lot less complicated (though they do have static).

They have Sul doing something that doesn't make much sense in order to forward the plot. She tells Cha what she saw and then asks him to do what she saw so she can just put it behind her. That seems out of character. One would guess that Sul has been biting back her words all of her life and keeping her visions to herself. Why spill the beans to someone now? The most obvious guess is that she's ready to burst, coupled with these two being attracted to eachother (seems like 💯% on his part). The viewer shouldn't have to guess about things like this. It feels more like lazy writing than good writing. *see mini spoilers below

Someone wants to sabotage Cha and leaks their client's hush-hush secret new car design online. The company punishes Sul for the incident. Pil took the photo, so the 3 of them are poking eachother in every kind of way. At the same time, a mystery surrounding Sul and her father emerges. A burglar broke into her house and stole all the pictures of dad.

💋6S has a Western attitude towards sex. Sul's work friend is crass at times when discussing sex, and her best friend is pretty loose about the subject as well. Once again, this fits with Hulu's Westernization trend of more violence, blood, gore, swearing, and sexual content. There's a distinct difference between Hulu‘s K-atalog and the Kdramas on other channels, overall.

In the way of criticism, things get muddled midshow. There's too many moving parts and not sufficient clarity. Cha doesn't seem all that romantically compelling to me. They lay down a couple of clues about the final drama that's connected to the past, but they could have done a better job with the foreshadowing. It feels like more of an add-on and not an integral part of the plot, because they failed to set it up well. We watch a woman toss her head in a way that causes her hair to brush Sul's face and Sul glimpses that woman's future. Any contact her lips make with another triggers this. I wonder if any other viewers are wondering if Sul can kiss herself and see the future? She probablycan't, but they should have laid down the rules and parameters better. The explanation for the entire phenomena is poorly supported by the script. The viewer has to roll with it.

“You'll never see a bad future with me. I won't let that happen.” They haven't been dating long, but Cha's getting pretty romantic. Overall, their romance has some lovely moments when it gets clicking. Leading up to it, the show was unconvincing. The secondary romances are cuter and could have used more screentime.

So, she suggests to him that they jump in the stack together, and “no, she won't regret it later, and she'll be fine around him.” How naive is she? He tells her to come over and discuss it. When they do talk about it he starts giving her the third degree trying to elicit as many details as possible. None of what she saw sounds like him ~ /to him/. He agrees to go along with her idea, but he has a condition. He says he doesn't sleep around. He only sleeps with women he's interested in. If she wants to sleep with him, she'll have to date him. This clearly appears to be a manipulation on his part. He's into her.

By ep6 things have taken shape. Cha admits his feelings. Pil overhears and the two men are in the mood to fight a few rounds.

WKEWY - Now to address: We Knew Eachother When (We Were) Young. {The "K" is silent; it's pronounced "Whey," which is what "WHY??" sounds like in Korean. It's MY word. I can do that😜. I also know that “each other" is two words, however I'm on my own little campaign for more compound words. I think we need alot of them, not alittle.} It turns out Cha and Sul had a deep connection as kids. He's always loved her, but she lost her memories from a trauma. At that same time, their powers kicked in. WKEWY is usually a worn-out, 15th-hand, dried out plot point in which kids, who have a relationship of some sort, later, as adults, fall in love after years of separation. It's a tied to a couple being “fated”. They often forcibly wedge it in and it's often awful. Here, it IS the plot, and that's fine. They failed to tie it in skillfully, or drop enough hints to make wondering about it fun, or to apply the rules to this weird-world stuff consistently. There's lots to like in 💋6S; it should just be better. Thus my rating.

casting and details matter

such a letdown and it was easily avoidable because the webtoon this show was based on n for this show was good. the male lead should have been late 30s at the oldest and the dialogue and acting choices really made things awkward. i do appreciate it was only 12 episodes and it was a more adult show.

Wish they'd been more true to the Webtoon

I wonder why they went with a slightly older cast for this drama. The leads did a fantastic job and were great together, but some of their attitudes and behaviors were a little juvenile for people in or close to their 40s. I wished they would have kept Yoon Kye-Sang's longer hair, they aged him quite a lot when he cut it shorter.

I'd say it was a good show, but I found myself getting bored more than once mid-way through the episodes (only to get pulled back in by cliffhanger-ish endings).

Even though this drama was only 12 episodes long, I think they could maybe have made it even shorter. I'm very curious to read the webtoon it was based off of now, though. I'd like to know if the things I didn't like were already in the source material or if they came about once it was adapted.

The musicalization choices were slightly odd, too. There was one particular instrumental that gave off very strong cheesy-Halloween vibes. Also one that sounded like there was someone gargling liquid.

All in all, nothing too memorable, but good enough.

EDIT:
A few thoughts and observations after having read the 1st season of the webtoon. Ye Sul and Min Hu are 26 and 31 years old respectively.

The show changed quite a few details. The biggest being that the ex-boyfriend has a different name and isn't a film director, but also works in advertisement (personally, I liked this change).

The other considerable difference is that Ye Sul and Min Hu become next door neighbors very early on, and in a series on events not unlike those depicted in the drama My Love From Another Star, they go from fighting constantly to relaying on each other because of this physical nearness (wish they'd kept that).

Another change is that in the webtoon Ye Sul's father is a pianist and Ji Young, Seung Teak and Ho Woo don't exist (they were also a nice addition on the show's part).

Personally, I liked the tone of the webtoon better. It was a lot more comedic, silly and cute. I think the show could have benefited from a more cheerful, energetic vibe. At the very least, they should have stayed true to Ye Sul's exuberant, bubbly personality. The show made her character so drab and boring compared to her webtoon counterpart.

It's a magical show with significant flaws.

Rating this show is extremely difficult. On one hand it's been such a long time since I've seen a kdrama that I enjoyed so much. It kind of recaptures the feeling of some of the greatest kdramas I watched, when I started the Asian drama watching hobby. (Lover from the Star, Secret Garden etc..) However the -2005 era-ish - love triangle is annoying on multiple levels, even though it's not the most frustrating one I have ever seen, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Also the writing is not only inconsistent, but also multiple annoying cliches are used, such as falling onto lips, weird relationship contracts, agree to go on 3 dates with the ex, getting filmed by bystanders at an opportune moment etc..

Onto the good things, I think the cast is great, the leads have increasingly great chemistry as we go along & while the special abilities are a bit underutilized, they add a nice flair to the drama. There is a lot of charm going on across the board, it really often feels like I'm watching art, not a technician's work. The office life part of the drama is above average, there are some kdrama specials of course, but it's usually far worse than this.

As for the ending, I detracted an entire point from my rating due to the last two episodes. Up to episode 10, this is a flawed, but very entertaining fluffy romcom, however that's followed by 90 minutes of flashbacks & the big crisis of the drama, this part held very little interest for me & while I was waiting for the inevitable happy ending the last 20 minutes happened. If this was in episode 7 I would have loved it, but before a 10 seconds happy ending? Heck no, what were they thinking? I guess this is what happens, when the production team thinks they don't really need an established writer, since it's a webtoon adaptation. They were mostly right, except the webtoon is ongoing & season 1 ended with a cliffhanger & the writer did not spend enough time to think up a reasonable way to give us closure. Though with adjusted pacing it could have worked, who knows it might be 90% the editing's fault, after all the audience has no idea what ended up getting cut..
Then I again I'm not sure if I blame them, this is a long ongoing trend in kdramas, the production team doesn't care much about the last episode, because it does not influence the drama's success, people already watched the product placements, it's not like you need the audience to come back for another episode, right?

edit: I should give more credit to the writer, yes she has botched the ending somewhat, but the drama's plot is better than the webtoon's in my opinion. (usually the reverse is true, see Secretary Kim, Business Proposal)

Don't let theses reviews sway you.

I don't usually write reviews, but this series has been dumped on enough. Everybody agrees that the story was compelling, characters were as well, chemistry is off the charts and the flow was great. But then people strat talking about the last 30 minutes of this drama, and I have to say that I have yet to see so many opinions about the same exact thing.

So here I am thinking: "Oh, well. Another one that bites the dust." The last 30 minutes are not bad or horrible and, if you got why they were how they were, they should compliment the whole plot. When people don't have to carry the World on their shoulders or have to worry about how to act around each other, they do tend to get annoyed by the little things, specially couples. It was not toxic, it was silly and supposed to make you laugh.

Do not give up on a wonderful drama because of this. Do it like I did and watched until the end, make up your mind about and be very happy that you did.

Review of "Kiss Sixth Sense" (Spanish, English, French). Contains some small spoilers.

I love Cha Min Hoo and Hong Ye Sul's relationship, but I would have changed the way the script has interpreted their ending, I mean, in the end they find themselves in a relationship that seems very immature compared to what that had been seen of them in the rest of the chapters. I understand that they have lost their "senses or super powers", but, although it took them an effort to adapt, I think they should behave like adults. Another thing I didn't like is the lack of information regarding Ban Ho Woo. Is she supposed to die in the future? Does she have any illness? Will something else bad happen to him? What was her motivation for doing what she did?! I guess we'll never know the answer. Finally, I want to highlight the soundtrack, it immerses the listener in an emotional journey, it is simply beautiful.

Kiss your future

"Was it bound to happen or did I make it happen?"

Likes
1. Loved Minhu, he was a jerk in episode 1 but he kept getting awesome in every episode! Kyesang isnt your traditional pretty boy ML but he is very manly esp with the kissing and bed scenes with Yesool. But he can also be cute and silly.
2. Mixed feelings with Yesool. Love her when she's in love but i hate that she kept running away whenever Minhu and Pilyo tried to confront her.
3. Jisuk can make viewers want the SML be the ML. He's so good at portraying the boyfriend or ex bf. I was fine whether Yesool ended up with him or Minhu. Just too bad that the relationship ended the way it was.
4. I didn't like whiny clingy Jiyoung but she was better when she is with Pilyo so I'm okay with this pairing.
5. The second couple Seungtaek and Howoo were so cute but didnt like that Howoo was too cold to Seungtaek when she started her residency. Inho the actor usually plays the bad guy in the drama so nice to see him being funny and cute here.

Dislikes
1. The last 20 mins of the final episode! WTH was that!!! They could have added more scenes between Seungtak and Howoo if they ran out of stories to fill the rest of the episode!
2. Yesool's mother who kept the whole dad's murder/stalker from Yesool was horrible thing to do.

Rating: 8.5/10

Doesn’t stick the landing, but otherwise engaging

This would've gotten a much higher rating for me if the ending had met the rest of the show. To be honest, they had me up until about halfway through the last episode. For some reason, they felt the need to throw in the cliché we argue a ton, but we're in love back-and-forth thing . Maybe it's just me, but I really hate the bickering Love after they seem to have resolved things. I don't mind some tension and bickering before they get together, but when it's even worse after they get together, that's a no for me.

Another reason this got a lower score, it's because the casting seemed a little odd to me. The ML and FL were OK, but neither gave me ML/FL vibes. This is also true about the second ML and second FL. I might be being a bit harsh on the second ML, he did a pretty good job. However, the second FL just didn't do a great job acting from my perspective. her character was kind of obnoxious and I don't see the second ML ever falling for her. To be honest, the couple I was most interested in was the doctor and the FL's cousin both of those actors had more charisma than any of the main roles. I wanted to learn more about their story and see more of the development of their relationship. Also, it felt like the cousin was dying or something, but I think they were just implying that she was starting medical school so she needed to do some other things on her bucket list before that day. It was very confusing.

Based on the above, you would think I hated this drama. However, that is not the case. I could forgive all of the issues that I have listed if they had just stuck the landing in episode 12. I did think that the ML and FL had great chemistry. I loved how sexy and fun most of the show was. The dialogue was good. I never wanted to skip to the end, which is what happens to me a lot of the time about midway through because I get bored. I never got bored on this one which usually earns a higher score. so this really just comes down to the ending for me. However, it wasn't a completely ruined ending, it just wasn't my preference. So it's still getting a very good score from me. and I would recommend this, I just wish I could recommend it without any caveats.

I actually watched this drama because I love the drama, Destined With You, Which was directed by the same director. I can really see his growth from this to that. And if you enjoyed this, then I highly recommend that you check out that drama. He corrected all the issues that I had with this drama in that drama.

Ok i loved this inspite of hating it

This is a rant. I love clique dramas. I'm a sucker for a good trope with some romance thrown in. This had all the makings of cheesy TV with some good acting thrown in to keep you watching.

With that said the FL character was so annoying. I kept watching in spite of her. If there was a logical choice she always made the opposite one. Even after she experiences her personality change she still makes dumb decisions.

The ending was nonsensical and the last 3 episodes should have been 5 or 6 to keep the same pace as the rest of the drama.

I wrote this review because i didn't see any others where anyone else admitted they hated parts of the FL character.

All that said i watched the whole thing. I enjoyed lots of it. Would I watch it again no. You only need to watch a train wreck once. With that said hit play and enjoy. (If you liked Abyss you'll like this. Honestly review could be for either drama.)

Not Good Enough

Korean Drama " Kiss Sixth Sense " is a office romantic comedy with a fantasy twist.

The drama utilizes the trope of the strict boss-bright and sunny employee to its fullest, in addition to giving them a common background with their fantasy subplot that connected them together from the begining. That fantasy element was also what gave the romance a head start, though that was awkwardly handled. The love story, overall, was messily paced and used a lot of cheese tropes to support it, even having a love triangle to spice things up. However, the second lead had more chemistry with the female second lead and they seemed better as a couple. As for the fantasy part, it was thrilling at first, but got boring and overused after a while.

Finally, the performances were enjoyable from everyone in the cast.

So, overall, three out of ten.

Kiss Sixth Sense (2022) – I was disappointed. I’m not a fan. It was so long before I finished watching this drama. This drama is supposed to be my type with mature characters and pretty decent storyline. I love the actors and actress portraying the roles in the drama but I don't see the chemistry between them and also the second lead. I think the reason why I wasn't into this drama is because I have read the manhwa and I already had expectations but it was not met. I do not recommend this drama.

The Kind of Future You Taste Before You’re Ready to Swallow It

From the outset, Kiss Sixth Sense sounded like it was built purely for high-concept rom-com chaos — kiss someone, see your future with them. But instead of leaning only into quirk, it reached for something darker and more unsettling. And that shift is what kept me locked in.

It wasn’t about fate in the dreamy, predestined sense. It was about the fear of wanting something so badly that it becomes terrifying. Seo Ji-hye carried that fear beautifully. Her character moved through every episode with a restraint that felt less like self-control and more like self-preservation. Each moment she didn’t reach out said more than any dramatic confession could have.

And then there was Yoon Kye-sang. He could’ve played the cold, exacting boss with surface-level arrogance, but instead, every clipped command felt like armor. Every small flicker of vulnerability slipped through in ways that made his character feel almost painfully human. Watching his defenses drop, piece by piece, didn’t feel convenient for plot. It felt earned. Necessary, even.

Their dynamic wasn’t clean or comfortable. It was messy in a way that felt real — two people colliding, unsure if what they’re creating together is healing or destruction. There were moments where I didn’t even know if I wanted them to end up together, because the show made it clear that love isn’t always gentle. Sometimes it’s the catalyst for unraveling everything you’ve carefully built to keep yourself safe.

Not every choice landed. The tone wobbled between rom-com beats and deeper emotional intensity, and a few pacing stumbles toward the end dulled what could’ve been sharper narrative turns. But even in those missteps, the emotional thread never snapped.

What lingered wasn’t the sci-fi premise or the romantic tropes. It was the question it asked quietly in every scene: If you saw a future that terrified you but also made you feel more alive than you’ve ever been, would you still walk toward it?

I still don’t know the answer. And there’s something honest in that uncertainty that I can’t stop thinking about.
