Wow, the acting! It's simply phenomenal!

I don't usually give reviews but I just HAD to. This drama hooked me from the very first episode. I was looking for something lighthearted and well...this isn't always light-hearted, but my goodness I couldn't stop watching. It had the perfect blend of fluff, romance, angst, mystery, realism, and phenomenal acting.

About the acting, Fan Zhixin is a wonderful actor. I have seen him as a 2nd ML in other dramas but he completely blew me away with his flawless portrayal of Yan Xingcheng, a truly lethal man: hot, dangerous when pushed, fiercely protective of his loved ones, and one who is also secretly battling his own trauma while putting on an almost impenetrable mask.

I say "almost impenetrable" because only Shen Manning, played by the wonderful actress Li Mozhi, could break through the ML's carefully constructed mask. The FL is not OP, but she is smart, adaptable, strong, emotionally resilient, and most of all, patient and loving with the ML as he works through his issues. Li Mozhi portrayed the FL beautifully, and I will certainly be looking forward to more works from her.

Together, they make an impressive power couple who, despite some bumps in the road, are able to bravely face everything they encounter with tact and intelligence. The chemistry between the two leads was...wow. Just...wow. There are not many Chinese dramas where I'd say the kiss scenes weren't cringey, but this one is one of them. The kisses were sizzling, sweet, and everything in between. Absolutely immaculate.

The side characters were well fleshed out, lots of character development for all of them, especially Tang Lin. This was so we'll made that by the end, I was even feeling sorry for the villains.

Overall, everything from the cast and production to the styling and OSTs were amazing. Truly one of the best dramas I've seen. I hope the actors get recognition for it, because it's just that good.

This show surprised me (in a good way). This was like a wattpad story coming to life lmao, but the male lead carried hard with his acting. I also liked the female lead, but the excessive breathing was a little weird and annoying at times. Man Ning was a mix between a naive damsel and badass: sometimes, she was so air-headed that she'd follow a stranger or put herself in danger, and on other occasions, her good memory would serve to safe the company, or she'd actually stand up for herself and be strong(willed). I think it was more or less well balanced, if I were her, I would have panicked too, so I don't blame her for being a lil dumb sometimes haha. Xing Cheng... wow. I really liked that even with bumps in his revenge plan, or falling in love, he didn't lose his calculating, ruthless persona. The action scenes were a bit goofy (cue ep. 17 in the parking lot, but at least it made me laugh), but overall the ratio between (very thin) plot, romance and action was pretty even. The music was to die for, I really loved the OST! The secondary couples/characters... Mei Na.... baby girl, who instructed the actress to act like a child sometimes? I honestly skipped most of the scenes that did not include the main couple, cause the rest really just annoyed me. Overall, a surprisingly decent show - the plot was a bit thin and nonsensical though. The male lead was great and I hope he'll get more leading roles in the future.

Sizzling chemistry is the only selling point of this drama

Every time I searched for a modern c drama, this popped up. With a high rating of 8.something, it's worth a try.

But be prepared for girls in tiny, crotch revealing skirts/ shorts. Thank God the squeaky baby voice was discarded.
The villain lady with straight black hair and red lipstick.
The clichéd car accidents
The cringey share holders meetings
The jealous and greedy family of the millionaires

Just be ready to crawl under a blanket with all these silly creatures
BECAUSE
The ML is worth every minute of it.......

He's a dish, carries his role well, underplayed, macho.....Hmmmm mmmmm
The FL does a good job too. She adds the sizzle to their chemistry and does not shy away from the intimate scenes.
Sticks to her role and is kind of underplayed.

Most others need an award for overacting, especially that FL ' s friend.

So yeah, keep your remote close, skip through the rubbish and enjoy the steamy romance.

This is such a good drama! you should definitely watch it

I really like this drama. I think it's a bit of a shame that dramas usually start with the initially ruthless guy, but then you never get to see his ruthlessness again once he's with the girl. But in this drama it's just great.

The intense male lead made me want to watch My Lethal Man. but when you look at the girl you just now how perfect and beautiful she is. I understand that most people couldn't believe that the girl looks exactly like the male lead's sister. I felt the same way at first. When you really realize that they haven't heard or seen each other for 17 years, you'll be more accepting of the plot. You will realize that the man loves his sister with all his heart, but he also loves the idea of his sister when she was younger. But now he has no idea what his sister looks like now that they're older, because he hasn't grown up with her over the years.

About romance: In this drama you can see how the girl fights for their love. She was always the first to announce everything. But when she said it, she wasn't afraid at all. Every time she says, "I love you," she asked him, "Do you love me too?" To which the man always says, what do you think?
You'll quickly notice that the guy is always the one who gets the better end in their relationship, especially how chivalrous the GIRL is: she always tells the guy I'm there for you no matter what and I'm always by your side. You will realize for yourself how the man is always the one who feels dizzy and cold. The girl is literally his home.
she always makes him happy.

about Acting:
the man was a great actor, I really enjoyed watching him. I love how deadly he looks in most scenes. I think he's really handsome. You should definitely pay attention to his hair. In some scenes his hair is really funny. You'll notice how the scene would play out with his hair and this little detail just added to the drama.
About the girl:
She was really good at acting and I really enjoyed watching her CEO's scenes. I thought she was also dressed super nicely in every CEO scene. I would also like to become a CEO, hopefully that will happen

Honestly, great scenes. when the male lead feels vulnerable, you don't see it right away, but you can tell by the way he hides his face in the girl's neck.

Extra, I love this drama. But what I didn't like so much is that this drama made me cry :( I don't know why but I really have a weakness for sad scenes.

I hope I find more of these dramas.

Most nonsense drama I ever watched

** Please do not read this review if you have liked the drama **

MLM has to be the most illogical, cringe, overacted piece of Cdrama I've had the misfortune to watch. There is no rhyme or reason to why any of the characters do what they do. The ML is supposed to be a dangerous man, but what he is, is a typical gaslighting, abusive toxic romance hero and FL a stereotypical manic pixie dream girl who falls in love with her abductor for absolutely no reason. The politics of succession are laughable as is the acting of everyone in the drama. The chemistry between the leads was not enough to save this train wreck of a show (and TBH, I've seen dramas with rubbish plots but much, much better chemistry.)

So, no. This one's a hard pass for me.

This Could Have Been Great

The story was just not it for me. I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around that he started having romantic feeling for someone who’s identical to his biological sister. That alone was a bit much for me. While it was a bit much its not what made me dropped the drama. The FL acting kept getting worse and worse. She overacted so much in episode 13 that she had me feeling like I missed something which would justify her for acting the way she was lol but I didn’t miss anything she was just way over the top. The ML was doing great and I enjoyed his two partners that were along side of him. FL best friend was a tad bit annoying as well. I honestly feel like if the FL was portrayed better I would have kept watching it but her acting just really wasn’t it here.

The script doesn’t make sense on many scenes.

I like twist and turn drama. For this one, the plot is fine. With a good script and good production, it can be a fun drama to watch. I’m on episode 13 and I have a mix feeling if I should go on or I should drop it. The ML is handsome and interesting. I’m still here because of him. Many scenes and many parts of script does not make sense. Business building won’t allow animal to walk around and retriever dog won’t attack and bite for no reason. The FL is annoyed the most. Some scenes her acting is too forced, made me raise an eyebrow. The second FL is typical, do unreasonable things for a guy who she may not even like. Just for fun, maybe? I may still watch it with skipping some parts because I’m curious if the scripts may improve eventually.

Sorry to disappoint but if you’re expecting a I love this series review this is probably not it. I was disappointed with a few things so I’m going to start out with them first:

The random character growth for FL. The way how this was directed at first it seem like she was described as someone weak, an artist type who can’t fight back and now she randomly has a great memory and remembers things when she deals with the business issue. Being brave for the man you love is a given so I’ll let that one slide, but I can’t get over her thinking it was a brave and smart idea to chase the man in black. Thus, in turn, gets locked up in a food truck and wimpy cries for help when she was just so brave all sudden. I don’t know if it was the actress's fault or the way how it was directed.

The sudden cliffhangers or should I say the exposure of ML mystery past or the random agreement to decide to get married to mean girl.

FL random drunken episode and acted cute. Sorry, it was a great scene for ML to kick ass but why did she need to be drunk?

Probably the only thing I like was the ML, his character seems to be steady and well-defined. Of course, he is hot but that not saving the series. I think this series has potential, it really does but the way how the plots and twists were played out was just so random and weird, at least for me. FL didn’t have a well-defined character making it hard to follow at times. I think she does a good job at acting, but they just need to define her character a bit more. If anyone has any recommended movies or series she has done that way better let me know. I am willing to check them out.

Rating 4/10, probably won’t rewatch since I forward through a lot. There are a lot of cute scenes that you can just find on youtube but watching the entire series, is not worth it. There's not much chemistry so you’re not really losing out.

A Dark, Intense, and Addictive Melodrama but Beautiful Revenge Romance

My Lethal Man is one of those dramas that quietly pulls you in and then completely consumes you. I didn’t even realize I was in the mood for this kind of story until I started watching—and once I did, it far exceeded my expectations. This drama is absolutely worth watching for its gripping storyline, emotional depth, and unforgettable performances.

From the very beginning, the flow of the story is smooth and engaging. Every character is well-written and well-portrayed, and the casting feels perfectly chosen. The chemistry between the leads is one of the strongest highlights of the show, making every shared scene intense, emotional, and captivating. I’d easily give this drama a 10/10 because it keeps you hooked till the very end, especially with its twists and emotional turns. By the time you finish, it’s almost impossible not to fall in love with Fan Zhi Xin.

Acting & Chemistry

I’ve watched countless dramas, but I’ve rarely seen an actor like Fan Zhi Xin. His portrayal of Yan Xing Cheng is truly mind-blowing. He doesn’t just act—he embodies the character. His eyes alone convey pain, rage, vulnerability, and suppressed trauma so vividly that you can feel every emotion through the screen. Whether he’s angry, broken, or silently suffering, his performance hits hard and stays with you.

Li Mo Zhi is equally impressive. She beautifully transitions from the timid and insecure Shen Man Ning to a stronger, braver version of herself. Her emotional scenes, especially her crying moments, feel genuine and heartbreaking. Together, Fan Zhi Xin and Li Mo Zhi create a powerful on-screen partnership. Their chemistry is intense, comforting, and deeply emotional—lines like “I’m here” during dangerous moments feel incredibly reassuring and meaningful.

The supporting cast also deserves praise. Every actor delivers a solid performance, adding depth to the story rather than feeling like filler characters.

Story & Themes

This drama is not your typical light romance. It blends revenge, suspense, romance, trauma, and healing into one intense narrative. The plot revolves around identity, loss, and forced relationships, with a central trope that may not be everyone’s cup of tea—the female lead being the doppelgänger of the male lead’s long-lost sister. This aspect has led to some negative reactions, but if you can digest that premise, the story has much more to offer beneath the surface.

What makes My Lethal Man stand out is how it flips the usual romance formula. Instead of slowly falling in love, the leads are forced into a relationship and gradually learn to trust, rely on, and heal each other. The enemies-to-lovers dynamic is surprisingly addictive, giving strong “Wattpad vibes” for fans of that trope.

The suspense is another strong point. Almost every episode ends in a way that makes you eager to watch the next. The twists are well-placed and genuinely surprising without becoming overly ridiculous, which is rare for melodramatic C-dramas.

Direction & Cinematography

The direction is thoughtful and emotionally driven. Certain scenes are especially powerful, such as:

The blood-drawing in hospital elevator scene
The male lead’s grandfather’s death
The burning paper scene in the car
The symbolic drawing of the drowning child

These moments are not just dramatic—they’re meaningful and layered with symbolism. The cinematography also deserves praise. The lighting is beautifully controlled, perfectly matching romantic, dark, or emotional moods, making many scenes feel aesthetic yet heavy with emotion.

OST & Production

The OST complements the drama perfectly, enhancing emotional scenes and heightening tension when needed. Combined with the high-budget feel, gorgeous cast, and stylish wardrobe (even for secondary characters), the production quality adds a lot to the viewing experience.

Final Thoughts

My Lethal Man is a dark but beautiful revenge romance filled with intense emotions, strong performances, and addictive drama. Yes, it’s melodramatic and cheesy at times—but that’s exactly part of its charm. If you enjoy suspenseful romances with emotional turmoil, passionate chemistry, and dramatic twists, this drama delivers all of that and more.

Despite mixed opinions, I’d strongly suggest giving it a chance. Watch a few clips—especially the hospital or elevator scenes—and decide for yourself. If you do, chances are you’ll end up smiling, crying, emotionally wrecked, and completely in love with Fan Zhi Xin by the end.

Definitely an Enemies to Lovers Trope

Overall, it's a really well made Cdrama. I loved the actors and their acting. Everyone's acting was immaculate; I could really sense and feel what they are feeling. The ML and FL start off basically as enemies or just hating each other, but then end up loving each other. The storyline is also unique, not like your typical boss and employee relationship. The music in this Cdrama was pretty good, although it wasn't my cup of tea. This Cdrama is a must watch. Would I rewatch this Cdrama? Yes, I 100% will.

Little bit slow and emotional drama

Good part of the drama the story didn't extend the story too much about particular incident . chemistry between the leads were amazing.
I thought the twins will be connected at the end but ....(watch the drama for the but). It was totally emotional drama . Other pairs were also cute but they didn't have much love story especially about the second leads .
Sacrificed love for friend but nobody knew about this only viewers . So felt bad for the character who sacrificed but nobody knew about this.
I love the drama . The drama had story but it was little bit slow and emotional . Who likes to watch love story may be like this drama .

I am beginning to like these present-day dramas. I hope there are more like this one. A perfect ending. This is like a detective investigating the type of drama but without detectives or investigators. Li Mo Zhi (Shen Man Ning), at first seem like she didn't fit into the character played. She grew on me, then she became believable. But she did well in Renascence. Fan Zhi Xin (Yan Yi), did very well. I wished they would give him more leads but he is still young so I will keep my fingers crossed. His voice tones are smooth like silk. I loved how they had some martial art fighting. I hope to see more of both the main leads. The wardrobes were cute! I loved the ocean scenes! Thank you to all the other actors/actresses, writers, producers, directors, and staff. BTW this was a modern-type historical drama!
