A Highly Recommended Drama
The drama starts with intense scenes played out in Italy. Yan Xing Cheng is on a mission to regain his mother's rightful place in the Zhuang family back in China. And to help him, he has gotten Shen Man Ning to replace Zhuang Xin Yan (who died in a car accident) as his fiance, as Man Ning looks exactly like Xin Yan, Hence, the plot begins....... The relationship between the two did not start out well as Man Ning is thrown into a role unknown to her in the takeover of LH Group. This occasionally frustrates Xing Cheng who is so focused in getting his plans done right. However, as Xing Cheng guides and grooms her, her confidence grows and in turn Xing Cheng's feelings for her also grows. This pairing of Xing Cheng and Man Ning is mind-blowing natural and totally believable. Their body language, when it comes to love gets you hot and flushed and this is consistently found throughout the drama. I found the lead actor handsome, sultry and cool in every way, and the female Man Ning character beautiful, bold and forward, which is refreshing to watch.
The OST, the songs are still lingering in my head. The lyrics matched scenes and moods really well. It was also a nice change to see a triangle love relationship going on for the 2nd leads. Lots and lots of other interesting characters to be found in this drama and every role was very well acted out. A talented cast indeed.
As for the story, not perfect, but good. The mystery that lingers, makes one glued to every episode. There were many twists in the plots and I found them all done tastefully and necessary to keep the audience on their toes. The director did a good job in building the pace as the truth un-veils. And he kept pushing to the very end... which kept me interested and satisfied with the show.
What more can I say, except to watch it with an open mind to reap it's full value.

Despite some negative comments...just watch it...
I just finished watching all the episodes, although I had serious doubts whether to start at all, and all because of these negative opinions. And I have to say I'm surprised that this drama got me hooked!Despite the fact that there were a lot of gaps in the plot, some threads were not fully understood or unnecessary, some scenes were funny instead of serious, e.g. the general meeting of the supervisory board, where instead of serious conversations there was a verbal battle and even fist fights ... it looked good to me All right.
I especially liked the main lead couple, which went from disagreement and hostility to learning to love and had some really nice scenes together, very well captured by the cameraman, especially those scenes with the main leads. I also understood that YXC's main inheritance lead had been traumatized and had to fight for survival, therefore the feelings of love were unknown to him. He was driven by a desire for revenge and did not allow the thought of giving love to another person. It is hardly surprising that when he realized that Shen Man Ning was starting to be important in his life, he defended himself against this feeling. He wants to get the job done, but he also doesn't want the girl to get hurt. Twice he rejects her in a terrible way and here is a big credit to SMN's determination to fight for their love. From an intelligent, talented, quiet, weak, calm girl, she became a strong, fighting for her love girl so determined that she managed to finally catch up with her boyfriend in this love, who finally opened up to love, trusted her and was able to express what he feels for her and together they could overcome obstacles. It was beautiful when, after an attempt to drown, he experienced a kind of catharsis - purification and finally chose to trust his beloved, who surrounded him with her love like a shield, which gave YXC confidence and peace and allowed him to bounce back from the bottom in which he found himself having lost everything (so he thought).
A good ending and a message that true, sincere love can do everything, even if there are falls, and even if they lose material things, they have each other and can support each other and lift each other up.
Cool camera shots, scenery, costumes, it was ok. So don't be guided by your opinion, just see for yourself if it's worth it.

So much to like here - like a giant ice cream cone
This drama was like a giant ice cream cone that you needed to eat really fast or else it might melt all over your clothes and just be sticky. But first things first, I loved it. Like a lot. I haven't been this obsessed with trashy makjang goodness like this since Maid's Revenge (and this one gave me even more of it.) It was so unrealistic in parts, so over the top, so....well, makjang, that it defied reality at times, but it didn't matter because the actors almost fully sold it.Namely Fan Zhi Xin, the main male lead, he absolutely frickin' killed it here. 100% sold his character, 100% showed up in his character's skin, and I was here for every minute of it.
He's a star in the making, and I will watch just about anything he's in going forward.
There was so much to like (and dislike) about this drama.
Spoilers ahead!!!
What I (really) liked:
-Now THAT is how you kiss your onscreen partner. Everyone else needs to take a few lessons.
-The reminder that revenge doesn't always go as planned. Sometimes we don't get the revenge we wanted, and sometimes it still all goes to shit even with all of our preparation.
-Tang Lin's redemption - I didn't see it coming and it was a pleasant surprise (also I even felt kind of sorry for her at the engagement ceremony)
-I actually appreciate when a character finally owns up to all the loss, when a character acts like one might actually act in real life if they've violently lost almost every member of their family. I'm not saying that being catatonic after multiple losses is normal behavior, but it sometimes is, and even if it isn't outward behavior, often the inner life after such losses mimics this.
Sometimes you just have to have characters who are so shattered by their circumstances and their experiences that they're rendered speechless for a little while. I feel like characters are often SO resilient and tough that nothing seems to bother them and that multiple traumas don't ever catch up to them...and that's just often not very realistic. So when a super angsty drama comes along and allows characters to FEEL things, (even too much at times), it might actually help us to feel things too.
-I loved the plot twists all the way through.
-The OST was great!
What I didn't like:
-the SFL - she was super annoying most of the time, not to mention clueless and needlessly chirpy and loud. I didn't see the point of her character for most of the drama and I hated the stupid love triangle she was in.
-I HATE DUBBING. I hate dubbing, I hate when they dub their voices....I hate it, full stop. So that's not just this drama, but almost all dubbing.
-iQiyi's subs - they are often straight up terrible and they never take my subbing suggestions. (lol). I'm grateful for a place to watch C-dramas I can't get elsewhere but come on with the bad subs so often.
-The excesses of this drama were mentioned before and will be mentioned again but when you realize what kind of drama it is, you should be aware of what's coming. And so I didn't even mind the villains here as much as I minded the SFL.
I'm off to find more Fan Zhi Xin dramas.

Not a Great Drama, But Not a Boring One Either
If you're looking for a drama with strong story and deep emotions, this might not be the right one. But if you want to see two good-looking leads with sizzling chemistry, then this show could be a fun ride for you.The plot is full of holes and doesn’t always make sense. There are many overused drama tropes like business marriages, revenge plans, and family secrets. The main lead (ML) is your classic cold, rich, and powerful man. He starts out rough but turns soft and sweet after falling for the female lead (FL). The FL begins weak but grows stronger and braver as the drama moves forward.
One strange part of the story is how the ML falls in love with a girl who looks exactly like his dead stepsister. But it’s not as weird as it sounds because he never knew her well as an adult. What’s harder to believe is how fast the FL falls in love with the ML, even when he’s rude and controlling in the beginning. Their love story feels rushed and unrealistic at times.
Still, the chemistry between them is very strong. Their romantic scenes are the highlight of the show. Fans of steamy kiss scenes and dramatic eye contact will enjoy it. But the drama leans too much on looks and physical attraction, instead of building a strong, emotional relationship.
There are also too many silly and unnecessary twists, like the ML getting engaged to another woman just to follow the usual drama formula. Side characters don’t really matter, and some, like the red-lipped second female lead, are annoying and overdone.
The acting isn’t bad—especially the ML, who plays the rich CEO type well. But the story tries to do too much and ends up feeling forced and disconnected.
Final Thoughts
This drama is not perfect. The story is weak, and some parts are hard to believe. But it’s still fun to watch because of the lead couple’s chemistry. Think of it as a "good trashy romance"—silly, dramatic, but entertaining.
Watch it if you enjoy hot romance and don’t mind skipping logic.
Skip it if you want a deep, meaningful story.

It’s nice but few things don’t make sense.
So, the drama is pretty good. The acting of the ML and FL is literally something. the plot is also pretty nice. I like all the plot twists. I like how the ml was complete mystery like, I was very curious about him. the fl also was pretty nice. I love how she takes care of the male lead. The casting is also nice…But few don’t make sense.
1) The FL falls in love with a person who used to choke her whenever he wanted. Like WTH!
That’s also fine to some extent because the male lead also started loving her.
2)Jia Kai tries to take Shen Man Ning’s blood sample and test if her DNA matches Zhuang Cheng An when Man Ning was pretending to be Zhuang Xin Yan. But even if she was Xin Yan herself why the hell would her DNA be matching with her mother’s father?!?!
According to science it’s impossible to match your maternal grandpa ‘s DNA.
3) After being heart broken the second fl gives a chance to the second ml and even falls in love with him like what!
4) the second fl finds ml’s mother but wasn’t the ml himself powerful enough to find his mother?
5) the fl’s best friend falls in love with ml’s frnd, he rejects her many times and suddenly says there is someone who loves you and he’s ml’s other friend. and as he says this, this girl falls for ml’s other friend. Like Why?!
6) the ml’s aunt edited a recording to show that the ml is illegitimate child if his father but the ml finds the recording. how the hell does the ml lead find 17 years old a recording and who the hell recorded it?
other things were good and you should watch. But it can be pretty confusing.
Overall you should watch it!

Honestly...Idk if I can finish it
The show was so good the 1st half although they're were holes in the plot. But after she was discovered to not be the grand daughter the plot just imploded. To fit the ending of the story, it had some ridiculous plot. Like a man breaks into her house that she remembers as the person that kidnapped her but she still chases him. She then somehow got locked in the back of a truck and had no signal to call her friend but somehow got a call from the ML. The friend also just ran into the office of a CEO?? Also, the other jewelry company was a rival that threatened legal action but somehow she became the best person to marry? Also, people say that she fights for her love but really she doesn't. She pathetically keeps pushing herself onto him although he rebuffed her so many times. In the beginning i though it was cute that she fell for him 1st but it got annoying after a point when they broke up and she could've leave him alone. Like gurlll stop calling him and crying. Cry on your own and move on. I don't know if I will finish but I'm really trying to push through without getting annoyed.

Messy plot but good acting from ML
This is your typical ‘old school’ Chinese drama. Cold rich super capable ML, who can fight, save the damsel and merely get a small scratch on his face 😅
The storyline is complicated. As usual, there is the power struggle from within the family to gain the majority shares and ultimately power of the family company. A lot of past history intertwined with missing persons and death. Somehow, the history of the ML tragic accidents involves the FL’s family as well! The FL’s character is bright and cheerful, but she loves too easily and emotionally unstable. In the first few episodes, the ML has his hand around her neck choking and threatening her in that manner. Not Cool. But of course towards the last few episodes, she becomes his pillar of strength.
Many holes in the plot. Many things don’t make sense. Very over dramatised 😅 Especially the final episode! Third parties- yes. A very annoying female rival Tang Lin who is rich but so spoilt and just cries when she cannot get the man she wants.
The romance between the main couple is quite nice. A short break up and he said very hurtful things to her, but we all know it’s not the truth 😅 Some nice PDA scenes, and yes it’s a happy ending. ML Fan Zhi Xin’s acting is really good in this one. It’s my first time watching him, and was impressed. Also very good looking 😍
Give this a try, but don’t expect too much.

Fan Zhi Xin is Mesmerizing as a Lethal Man
Ridiculous writing and nonsensical decisions are partially forgiven due to a captivating performance by Fan Zhi Xin. He singlehandedly saved the drama with his charisma. I kept thinking I recognized him and realized, with a shock, that he'd played the part of a manipulative, gaslighting man in a short length series, Dear Liar. It was a low-budget affair unworthy of note except for Fan Zhi Xin's portrayal of a psychopath. He seriously gave me shivers in that one. I should probably note here that he gives shivers in this one, too, but for a far different reason: this is a very kissy drama!ML had schemed and planned for 17 years to take over the family business and find his family's murderer. He had two accomplices; one was very tech savvy, and the other was the muscle. The trio had strategies, but the drama had plot holes galore, like:
1. Unknown vendors showing up in the lobby of a major corporation and setting up a drink stand without any security checking them out, especially in the turbulent times they were experiencing.
2. Uninvited guest crashing the engagement party and blurting out FL's real name. Knowing their lives were in danger, security should have been tight.
3. FL opening a biometric lock with the dead girl's iris, when all she had received in the surgery were her corneas. Irises aren't transplanted successfully yet. Never mind that the dead girl hadn't been in the country for years, so how did her irises get scanned?
4. When encountering a drowned person deep in the water, trying to shake them to consciousness is counterproductive. And once on land, screaming their name repeatedly won't be as effective as CPR.
5. When 2FL barges into the corporate office and insists FL sign a contract, any Business 101 student knows that it needs to be taken to legal first to be read, amended, and approved. Before any of that is done, there is NO WAY an outsider is taken into the super-secret vault.
6. FL's father let everyone think the worst when all he had to do was explain, "I didn't cause the accident." If I'm ever accused of murder, the first words out of my mouth are going to be, "I didn't do it!" I won't hang my head and look sad.
7. It was imperative to keep FL's real identity a secret, so why did ML have her listed in his phone with her real name? Why did her always call out to her with her real name?
8. When it's discovered XXX is the killer, there is a touching scene with tears and hugging that person. HOLY MOLY, GUACAMOLE!!! That person tried to kill at least 6 people (maybe more, I lost count), successfully ended 3, and inflicted trauma and disability to the others. The kicker is someone knew 17 years ago who the killer was and hoped that person would get over murderous tendencies and live a sweet life afterwards. Bonkers.
9. What are golf clubs sitting in the ultra-formal living room of the mansion? They were necessary for the dramatic slashing of the water scene artwork. Jeeves, fire the maids!
10. FL is kidnapped in the back of a taxi. She repeatedly tries to open the door but never tries making a phone call.
11. FL knows her life is in danger. She's been kidnapped and sedated before, but she pursues a similar guy (the typical bad guy with a black cap, mask, and jacket) and climbs into a trailer into which he threw something. Of course, she is locked in.
12. It's IMPERATIVE the ML finds his mother's seal if he is going to complete his mission. It's likely FL has it, but he won't ask her for it, because he wants to "protect" her.
13. When FL learns ML needs the seal, she tells him it's at her house and he can come over the next day. No sense of urgency! This is just something that will solve his 17-year dilemma, and if his enemies get it, it's game over. Let's not mention her house and his office has been ransacked before in an attempt for the enemies to locate it.
14. ML didn't follow through in screening the FL, her past, and her family and associates before installing her as the double. The fact ML's henchmen didn't tell him FL's best friend worked at the same company was beyond idiotic; they owed their allegiance to him, and years of planning had gone into the operation.
TL/DR: Drama suffered from a split personality: intelligent, lethal man fighting a imbecilic, unrealistic script.

Shittiest and illogical plot, turn your brain off and watch it for the main cp
I wish I could give a zero for minus rating for the story. It started as very good one but just around episode 8-9, it feels like they changed the scriptwriter midway through coz why did the ML become so stupid??? Shittiest plot development and in they end, they said 'we are a family'. Like why the whole struggle of ages if you don't intend to punish the murder?I couldn't help but point out so many flaws, especially when ML's friend used to follow villains and keep watch on them.
However, I love the 'main cp' and OST. This is the only plus point to this drama. I skipped scenes too often and just watched them. They have good chemistry but then again, the scriptwriter have to fvck up again so he added poor communication (ep 13-15 If I am not wrong and around 20th episode)

C-drama or Soap Opera, it's good either way
I actually enjoyed this drama a lot, though I understand why many don't. It is one of those over-dramatized family stories with lots of plot holes and questions, doppelgangers, family feuds, death, kidnapping, and all that fun stuff, haha. That's why I think it would qualify as a soap. It was a genuinely sweet drama with a fast-paced romance that keeps you going until the end. The characters are enjoyable to watch, and they fit very well into the story.Shu Manning's character was admirable. though portrayed as weak, nervous, and anxious, she was not afraid in pursuing her love. And she loved that man with her whole life, she was willing to do anything for him.
Yan Xing Cheng fit the role of the Lethal Man quite well. His character was strong and unshakeable, yet showed his soft side to Manning, and he did love her very much. (PS: Their Kisses were the highlight of the whole thing )
The supporting characters were also pleasing to watch, they kept the story going.
the only downside of this drama would be the plot, it could have been written better though the story was interesting.
All in all its a good and recommended drama if you want a passionate romance with a bit of thriller, suspense, and drama.

Go with it!
I get tired of hearing how unrealistic a drama is when shows like Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy are popular! So why can’t a drama plot be similar to a James Bond movie ? I like this drama. It’s fun to wait for the next twist. Dramas, plays and shows are meant to entertain not necessarily be realistic unless you’re watching a documentary- right? I really like the ML as he is totally his role as part James Bond and part Indian Jones. He is flawed so we are rooting for him despite his sometimes mean behavior towards FL. I wish the writers would have made FL role a little lighter - outwardly she goes along with the role too easily as she doesn’t even snoop about her own family. Anyway I like this and want others to watch it. Don’t think too much. Just go with it. Kinda also reminds me of American gangster movies from the 1950,s I think it shows that Chinese writers are expanding their story lines . As for me I am tired of amnesia, love /hate leads and terminal illness plot lines . At least give this show a try.Was this review helpful to you?
