The many faces of Yang Yang
The first time I saw Yang Yang was in cdrama "You are my glory". I was blinded by his beauty, entertained by the story, but I found him and his acting a little stiff. It seemed like he had just one or two expressions and kept using them over and over again. Then I started this drama and found a versatile actor, able to portray the different stages and attitudes of a boy growing up, facing hardship and finding his way in the world despite everything.
FL was very good too and I really appreciated her duality: strong and resolute in her job, fragile and insecure in her private life.
Leaving aside action and hospital scene, which weren't so realistic (and the toxic mother which we are unfortunately used to), the relationships portrayed are quite realistic and engaging.

Journey of firefighters
Before this drama ,I had watched "A Date With the Future'. So in this drama I I didn't find anything new. The same hard journey of fire fighters . Here one thing is different that in this drama it had shown that why Song Yan had chosen this field before he was soldier and then fire fighter and his love life also been shown . This drama also shown some of their college life . This drama also shown that the rich and poor problem that they can't be one ,there is a big difference between them .I had some expections with the end parts ,first I wanted to see their marriage ,second her brother's love story and third ML lead friend ,Suo Jun . I felt upset when Zhan Da Peng's character died . He was the cutes among all and this character's love story was about to start and he died and I also cried with everyone.
I liked the drama.

slowburn second chance romance story
i just finished the drama, and i can say this is one of the best cdrama this year. i read the novel before watching this drama, and i assure you, yangyang and wang churan did a great job portraying song yan and xu qin characters. what i loved the most from this story is how flawed this two characters are, as a result from getting hurt in the past. other actors are great too!!! hence 10/10 for the casting!!for the story, i think it depends on one’s personal preference. this drama had every troupe i personally like; slow burn, second chance romance, angst and head over heels ml, so i really loved how the story goes. the first 10 episodes are very slow, but i think if you can watch it to the end of 10th episode, where xq confront sy, you can really see why xq hesitated to pursue sy. there are many fillers ep too which i think they can cut down to 2 eps, but i still think its watchable.
the reason i cant give this drama full marks is because of the directing and music. i personally think the directing sucks big time (like the camera angles and music cue??) and kinda ruined my watching experience. what makes me going on is bcs of the actors’ performance, especially wang churan and wei daxun.
all in all, FOMH is a very good drama that can be perfect with better directing. i’m aware of the criticism surrounding the drama but i think 80% is just pure hate. so just try and watch this!!!

Just watch it already
I used to skip or fast watch chinese drama because of the episode and plotline that circles around with no reason at all. But this, i totally understand everything they do (unless his decision to not move to the office, it's kinda unaceptable for me. But it's there for a plot reason right). Their development is just perfect, not to fast not to slow. The story about firefighter itself is great and tearbreaking. It's missing point five for me because i think tbh, most of the ML is critical situation he should be dead atleast two times. first is when he traped in the ruin (he doesnt wear his helmet on) and second is when he inhaled arsenic (maybe he was safe, because he got his oxygen mask which slow down the effect of the toxic) anyway his plot armor is the best lol. But that's just my opinion, without that this drama would be a perfect 10/10 for me.
Plus, YangYang is sooo good looking and their (FL & ML) chemistry... hehehe make me giggle like i am in love myself.

One of the most unforgettable dramas I’ve ever watched.
From the very beginning, it completely pulled me in with the story of Song Yan and Xu Qin, two people who loved each other deeply in the past but were torn apart by family pressure and life circumstances. And when they meet again after years, it doesn’t feel like a “fresh start” romance, it feels like two broken timelines colliding, still carrying everything they never got to say. What makes this drama so powerful is how real the emotions feel. The tension between them isn’t just romantic—it’s painful. You can feel the weight of everything they lost in every interaction. Song Yan’s cold restraint at the start, Xu Qin’s quiet regret and hesitation… it all builds this emotional pressure that slowly becomes impossible to ignore.
And when they finally start reconnecting again, it hits even harder because you’ve already suffered through their separation with them.
I cried so much watching this drama. Not just once or twice—I mean full sobbing during some scenes. The scenes where Song Yan is risking his life as a firefighter while still silently carrying his feelings for Xu Qin destroyed me. And Xu Qin, as a doctor, constantly saving lives while trying to fix her own broken heart… it felt so human and raw.
Their love story isn’t easy, and that’s what makes it so good. It’s about healing from years of misunderstanding, family pressure, and emotional damage. When they finally start choosing each other again, it feels earned. Not rushed. Not forced. Just painfully real.
The firefighting storyline itself is also incredibly strong. It adds so much intensity and respect for Song Yan’s character. Every rescue scene feels life-or-death in a way that actually matters emotionally, because you care about him and his team so much.
The family conflict also adds a lot of weight. Xu Qin’s struggle between her controlling family and her love for Song Yan makes her character very tragic but also very relatable. That said, one thing that frustrated me at times was the contrast in how she handles situations: at work, she is sharp, direct, and doesn’t let people push her around, but with her family she often falls back into obedience and silence. It reflects how deeply conditioned she is by her upbringing, but it can still feel emotionally inconsistent or frustrating to watch before her gradual breaking point.
Even with that, her growth is still impactful as she slowly starts choosing herself and stepping out of that emotional control, especially as her relationship with Song Yan strengthens.
Another thing that really bothered me was the adoptive brother subplot. The way the drama frames his attachment to Xu Qin sometimes comes very close to a borderline romantic or possessive undertone (highkey incest), which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable given their family-like relationship. It felt like the story was trying to create extra tension, but instead it just distracted from the main emotional core of Xu Qin’s journey.
And the ending… it was so satisfying. After everything they went through, seeing them finally overcome the past, choose each other, and build a future together felt like emotional release. Their quiet moments after all the chaos, the idea that they finally got peace it genuinely felt healing to watch.
Overall, is not just a romance drama. It’s emotional, painful, intense, and beautiful all at once. I loved almost everything about it—the storytelling, the acting, the chemistry, the emotional depth. It stayed with me long after it ended, and I know I’ll come back to it again someday just to feel it all over again.

I loved it ! I love Wang ChuRan !
I began watching this drama not expecting much of it but it was really good. Like hella good !Only ppl who don't understand anything about life won't like it, and complain about the FL (who's traumatized and stuck in her head in the beginning). I really loved the FL and how honest and aware she is, when she said "i prefer living my life not regretting about things" she really acted on it the whole drama. I appreciated that everything is realistic, both the leads acted on their principles and were honest with each other. They didn't annoy me one bit (i'm easily annoyed by the leads when i watch a drama) every step they made in their life was understandable.
The chemistry between YangYang and Wang ChuRan did give me butterflies, they were so intense. I watched some Yang Yang dramas and here is the best couple i've seen of him. (I still didn't watch You are my glory because i don't really like DD).
Whatever if you want a dramatic but realistic story then watch this drama.

Everything happens for a reason ! Watch carefully, and you will understand.
I never really understood why this drama received so much hate. Most of the criticism centered on the male lead being labeled a "red flag," the female lead chasing him after abandoning him years ago, and the story being called slow pace and boring. However, if you watch the drama with patience, you'll find that nearly every criticism is addressed as the story unfolds. The characters' actions are carefully explained, and their motivations become much more understandable. The male lead initially comes across as cold, dismissive, and emotionally distant toward the female lead. But honestly, who wouldn't be deeply hurt after being abandoned without a single explanation by the person they loved the most? On top of that, he also carries painful memories of how the female lead's family humiliated and mistreated his own family in the past. Those wounds never truly healed. He spent years trying to forget her and move on with his life. Even after they reunited, he didn't immediately accept her back. His hesitation wasn't because he had stopped loving her, it was because he knew exactly how difficult their relationship would be. More importantly, he wanted to protect her. If they were going to rebuild their relationship, she first had to be willing to face her controlling family and accept the consequences of choosing him. He refused to repeat the mistakes of the past.
Many viewers also describe the male lead as arrogant and self-centered because of the way he treats his fellow firefighters. In reality, his strict attitude is a product of his harsh upbringing and the dangerous profession he chose. He pushes his team hard because he knows that even the smallest mistake during a rescue operation can cost lives. His discipline isn't driven by pride but by responsibility. As the story progresses, his colleagues gradually come to understand that his harshness is simply his way of protecting them and ensuring everyone returns home safely.
The female lead also had strong reasons for leaving him years earlier. She was only a recent high school graduate with no power to stand against her controlling adoptive family. She believed leaving him was the only way to protect him from her manipulative and abusive adoptive mother. Choosing to continue her education instead of rebelling was probably the wisest decision someone her age could make. After all, despite her adoptive mother's cruelty, it was still her adoptive family that had raised and protected her since childhood, making her situation far more complicated than simply walking away.
Both leads also experience meaningful character development through their careers. The male lead gradually earns the respect and understanding of his team as they realize the true purpose behind his demanding leadership. Meanwhile, the female lead is initially viewed as an emotionless doctor who relies on her family's influence to advance her career. As the drama unfolds, the reasons behind these misconceptions are revealed, allowing her to grow into a more compassionate doctor who earns respect through her own abilities rather than her family background.
Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the drama is the female lead's family. Her stepbrother is genuinely unsettling. His obsession with his stepsister goes far beyond normal sibling affection, becoming possessive and unhealthy (WTH he love her stepsister, he has a sister complex. it's absolutely disgusting). Because their mother controlled every aspect of their lives, he became terrified of being abandoned and desperately wanted his stepsister to remain trapped beside him. His overprotectiveness stems from years of emotional manipulation, but that doesn't make his behavior any less disturbing.
The female lead's adoptive mother is the true source of almost every conflict in the story. She is incredibly controlling, stubborn, and manipulative. Whenever things don't go according to her wishes, she is willing to hurt anyone, including her own children to get what she wants. The only disappointing part of the drama is that even by the final episode, she never receives consequences that truly match the pain she caused. That lack of justice leaves a bittersweet feeling.
The supporting cast is another major strength. The interactions between the two leads and those around them feel natural and entertaining. Yang Yang's bromance with Wang Yan Lin is especially enjoyable to watch, particularly for viewers who previously loved seeing them together in You Are My Glory. The firefighters, doctors, and hospital staff all contribute meaningfully to the story, while the male lead's family, especially his cousin, adds plenty of warmth and humor throughout the series.
Visually, the drama is outstanding. The cinematography during the rescue missions is particularly impressive. Whether it's flood rescues, earthquake disasters, or large-scale emergency operations, every sequence is filmed with remarkable realism and intensity. These moments showcase not only the technical quality of the production but also the courage and sacrifice required in both professions.
The chemistry between Yang Yang and Wang Churan is also far better than many people give it credit for. Their romance isn't built on instant forgiveness or dramatic confessions. Instead, it slowly rebuilds from years of heartbreak, misunderstanding, and lingering affection. The pacing may feel slow for some viewers, but that's exactly what makes their emotional journey so rewarding. As they gradually learn to understand each other's pain, they rediscover the love they never truly lost. By the end, they finally choose to face the future together, supporting one another through every challenge instead of allowing fear and family pressure to tear them apart again.
This drama is not a flawless drama, and its deliberate pacing won't appeal to everyone. However, much of the criticism directed at its characters ignores the emotional context that the story carefully develops. If you're willing to look beyond first impressions and give the characters time to grow, you'll find a mature second-chance romance about healing old wounds, overcoming family trauma, accepting responsibility, and finding the courage to choose love despite overwhelming obstacles.

A Heartfelt Journey That Needed Just One More Chapter
I really enjoyed this show, not only because of the heartfelt love story, but also because of the insight I gained regarding their medical professionals, their fire department, and how they address crises. I was surprised by how many times I got choked up in this series. It also had a lot of funny moments throughout the show. I definitely would have preferred a better ending. After all they went through to be together, seeing a little bit of their married life would have been a nice icing on the cake. Was this review helpful to you?
Perfect
Very nice series. Love acting of Yang Yang.By the time you reach the finale, you’re left with that rare mix of satisfaction and longing — satisfied because the journey was perfect, and longing because you wish you could experience it for the first time again. It’s a series that stays with you, in the best possible way.

Through the roof kinda of Chemistry
23 july 20238.75 ✨
I loved todays episode a lot even though i didnt it finish it coz i am taking my time with it especially since tomorrow is sunday and there will be no new episode.
I cried a lot when xu qin said to yang that she will be alone if he dies as his family are nice and accommodating of her because of him.
I just love her. Jayo! Xu qin
Also song yan is setting standards soo high lol, he is soo nice to her and just loves her whole heartedly. And the he just recognizes things about her with her telling him is just lovely. Like how he told her to go to her family since its new years and he knows she misses them even though he doesnt like them.
Should i again say i love xu qin, she is just lovely, her cold yet vulnerable and cute personality is killing.
Anyway, u know what i realized that song yan and xu qin relationship is really the most healthy relationship ever given their background.
Like the fact that she can raise her voice ( complaints ) against him without cowering like she is with her family may annoy some viewers or think she is taking advantage of him but to me it shows the kind of relationship they have. Its not toxic in the sense that she doesn't expect him to retaliate in a negative way like threaten get or manipulate her.
Anyway, her concerns are valid. And some may say y get involved with a firefighter to begin with if u cant handle the problems, and as logical as that sounds, most people really don't see those things when they r falling in love or pursuing someone thats y the phrase love is blind exists. It just is very realistic thats why a lot of couples face such problems after the rosey stage ends.

Finished
Overall good.
The story could use some improvement like the mother should have faced consequences for her cruelty but it felt like they changed her personality to fit into a digestable mother figure but then it is a c drama intended for the Chinese audience so i get. At least they included the rescueing of the mother so that she can appreciate song yan and his job.
Anyway, i liked the couple / main characters story as individuals was way better than the overall story. But the firefighters have a special place in my heart.
