Embers of the Heart
Fireworks of My Heart quickly won me over with its captivating bromance between Song Yan and Suo Jun. Their relationship, along with the interactions within the fire crew, stole my heart in the first 9 episodes. It felt like they were a bickering old married couple—with the rest of the team acting as their kids. This fun and endearing dynamic was such a joy to watch! Though some of the firefighters' training and rescue scenes were a bit overly dramatic and "overdone" in terms of professionalism, I still found them entertaining. What really stood out to me, however, was the emotional bond between the crew. Even with the exaggerated moments, the camaraderie among them felt genuinely touching. On the medical side, the female lead (FL) and her storyline felt more grounded. The medical scenes were better executed and didn’t feel as forced or staged compared to some of the firefighter sequences, which made them feel much more realistic.
As a fan of multi-case storylines, I was especially pleased with how the show balanced its main plot while introducing fresh rescue cases every few episodes. It kept the story engaging and allowed the larger narrative to progress steadily. The emotional intensity really kicked into high gear in the last couple of episodes, with the rescue cases deeply moving me. I found myself genuinely invested in the characters’ growth.
I also really appreciated the FL’s self-awareness. She recognizes the emotional abuse from her foster mother and the toxic family environment she’s trapped in. Watching her navigate the challenges of breaking free from it was a huge part of her character’s development. The dynamics with her foster brother, especially his romantic feelings for her, were quite unsettling at times. I ended up fast-forwarding several scenes, especially with her "mother" due to their disturbing nature. The drama does an excellent job portraying the impact of these toxic relationships though, which makes the FL’s eventual decision to stand up for herself all the more impactful.
By episode 32, when the FL finally found the strength to break free from her suffocating family environment, it felt like a cathartic moment—for both the character and the audience. While I did feel some sympathy for her foster brother being left behind, it was clear that she needed to live for herself—and he, too, needed to learn how to stand up to his parents. By this point, the romance had really blossomed, and the chemistry between the leads was sizzling. The fire crew’s comedic moments also provided some much-needed relief amidst the heavy emotional moments of the story.
Romantically, while this is the story of two past lovers reuniting, the romance takes its time to develop. Though the chemistry between the leads is undeniable, the romance doesn’t pick up until later in the story. I did find the male lead (ML) a bit too hot-headed early on, especially for someone who is a disciplined firefighter chief. While I understood the stress he was under, both the ML and FL carry a lot of emotional baggage and past traumas, which the show explores, but it feels like they don’t fully confront these issues until the latter part of the series.
As the series came to an end, I found myself feeling a bit sad about saying goodbye to these characters. They had grown so much over the course of the show, and it was a rewarding journey to watch. My only real complaint in the latter half of the drama is that we didn’t get a proper wedding scene, even though it was talked about several times. It would’ve been a great way to bring everything together. I also wished there had been a brief 10-15 minutes wrap-up in the finale to check in on all the other characters and their lives after the main storyline ended.
Overall, Fireworks of My Heart was an emotional and heartfelt journey, offering nice character development, touching (and sometimes infuriating) relationships, and a mix of emotional and thrilling rescue scenes. While not without its flaws, it’s definitely a show I’ll miss regardless.

Come for the cute couple....and watch them carry this show on their backs
I have so many thoughts about this show. The lead couple (Song Yan and Xu Qin) is really its main strength; they have adorable chemistry and a worthy "thwarted young lovers find their way back to each other" arc. I love how naturally SY and XQ's relationship progresses; they don't immediately reconcile or go from haters to lovers in an instant, but rather gradually forgive each other and grow closer before re-committing. It is a rewarding slow-burn with still enough time to enjoy watching their renewed romance.
Other positives include the funny and lovable firefighter ensemble and Song Yang's family, especially Zhai Miao. I also enjoyed the firefighter/medical action sequences, in particular, the multi-episode earthquake arc, which is perhaps the best part of the series. As the show becomes more about the characters' relationships and less about their careers, we see less of this type of action, as well, which is a bit disappointing, IMO.
Unfortunately, the side characters and plots are not nearly as fleshed out as the two leads, with some uneven writing hampering their development. The plotline between Meng Yan-cheng and Ye-zi is so irregularly looped in and then takes a bizarre 180 turn and abruptly ends without a satisfying conclusion. Jiang-yu and Li Meng should really have been the second couple.
And of course, there are the classic drama tropes, like an evil, classist mother and innumerable plot points revolving around characters accidentally bumping into each other, which is hard enough to believe without a setting as massive as a major Chinese city. (Are we really supposed to believe that the same firefighting unit responded to all of these incidents and always brought their patients to the same hospital)? But ah well, such are C-dramas.
Anyway, if you, like me, love dramas centered around a cute couple with not a ton of other plotlines, then I'd recommend Fireworks of my Heart. While initially daunted by its 40-episode runtime, I found it quite easy to get through (okay I may have skipped a few of the slower moving scenes) and a lovely show about love and friendship.

The chemistry between Wang Chu Ran, who plays Xu Qin / Meng Qin, really blends with Yang Yang, who plays Song Yan.
The tug-of-war love story between the two, Song Yan and Xu Qin, and the way Song Yan spoiled Xu Qin, made the audience melt. So beautiful!
Two people love each other
Facing the pot that is cooking the porridge
Shut up
Waiting for each other to talk
The premise is simple, just about a pair of lovers separated by social strata, then reunited.
The setting is what is interesting, namely the familiarity and daily life of the firefighters (firefighters) who have to train every day. They set a certain number of seconds to put on clothes, prepare equipment, climb stairs and do other exercises.
The activities of the firemen in the Chinese drama "Fireworks of My Heart", which are similar to the military, are very different from those of the firemen in the Korean drama "The First Responders" which tend to be relaxed.
Another attraction of the Chinese drama “Fireworks of My Heart” is the cinematography. Plus the main character is extremely handsome and unbelievably beautiful :D, the audience will feel at home watching the 40 episodes.
This is very far from the Korean drama "The First Responders" which only has 12 episodes, and another 12 episodes for the Korean drama "The First Responders 2". Of course, there are pluses and minuses between Chinese dramas and Korean dramas.
Maybe like an analogy I once wrote, Chinese dramas are like a slice of tiramisu, while Korean dramas are more like a slice of rendang.

Don't watch it if you're impatient
I loved Wang Churan's acting since I first saw her in an antagonistic role in Royal Feast. I don't know why she got so much hate for this drama. I agree that her character is poorly written. The character is indecisive, weak hearted and a pushover. I fee; some of the starting episodes don't feel natural and feel as if they added episodes just for the sake of episodes. Some of the episodes just don't provide any emotional or progressional value. They could've removed 5 episodes and the story wouldn't have changed. The evil mother who is too controlling is kept till the penultimate episode of the series and doesn't get any character development or backstory. She only accepts Yang Yang's character as her daughter's boyfriend in the penultimate episode when he save her from a flooded tunnel.
As I said in the title the drama is very slow in the progression. It takes 25 episodes for the character to come to be in a relationship with Yang Yang's character again. The chemistry was sizzling between Yang Yang and Wang Churan in this drama.
As someone who doesn't like watching melodramatic drama's, it was very hard for me to binge watch this series. Sometimes I felt so frustrated with Wang Churan's character that I wanted to punch the wall (I feared breaking my wrist, so I didn't).
At the end the only reason I watched this series was because of Wang Churan, if you want to just kill time you can watch it. Just keep your phone close in case you get bored. The final 15 episodes are where you watch the FL get character development and change for the better.

Don't waste your time....... it is too overrated.
I will get straight to the point..... this drama sucked. I had to force myself to watch all 40 episodes as the story was dragged.Everything, from the main lead (especially the female lead) to the story, was bad. I will just talk about the ML and FL because that was supposed to be the core of the story :
1. The fl was very selfish. I get that she was kept in a prison-like environment from childhood, but still. Her personality is timid, weak, and indecisive. She herself broke up with the ML, but after 10 years, she now wants to get close to the ML again. And the funny part is when the ML tries to get close to her, she just tries to push him away. She is so doubtful that she would break up with the ml just because he kept some things secret. She always needs someone to tell her how good the ml is, then only she would go back to him. It felt like she was just using him for her comfort whenever she wanted, and then even if a small problem arose then she would leave him. The mother of fl broke her and ml whole life, but even after all the suffering, fl sympathised with her family......... this just showed that she had no consideration for the feelings of ml.
2. The ML faced so many hardships due to the fl mother, but in an episode, he said that he doesn't want to take revenge. I mean, bro, are you serious.... she destroyed your whole career, misbehaved with your father, made you forcefully break up with your girlfriend, and so onnn..... and you say you don't want revenge, this is one of the most lamest things I have ever heard in a drama. the ml has zero self-respect as he just allows the fl family to trample all over him.
This just showed how weak-willed the guy was.
I don't know how this show has so good rating.

You will not regret watching this.
This is a very good story with great actors. The leads are amazing from the ML and FL to the side characters. They are all able to display the character's emotions well and you can sympathize and feel it. This drama is a little more melodramatic with the premise of the rich family not accepting the poor BF and this lasts until the end of the show. Initially, I thought it was getting repetitive but as the series progresses you can see the emotion from the characters and understand why they are doing what they are doing. I have really come to enjoy Chinese dramas because they really display the love between the main leads. Although there are your standard triangle relationship, the FL clearly draws the line and the leads only love each other. The brotherhoods in this drama is just wonderful to watch. The firefighter action was great and you really how selfless there job is. The way the whole firefighter squad tries to ship the leads together is hilarious!
The only thing I did not like was they really focus too much of the plot on her non-biological brother having a thing for his sister which is off-putting for me and melodramatic. Because he has feeling for his sister, he is obsessive and controls her; not caring for her own feelings. She tells him early on that "he is out of his mind" for even suggesting they get together and he still keeps going. I always hated this about certain triangle relationships. When a person says they do not like you and like the other person; that should be end of story, but literally it goes on til late in the series. I will say though they did a good job of explaining his emotions and you do feel bad for him as well by the end as well. The acting in this series was superb and some of the FL's scenes were so emotional. Even the ML's niece had an amazing scene at the end (it was so touching and one of my favorite moments).
The ML is portrayed as a the nicest human being. You can really learn a lot from this story on being a good person.

Not bad at all
TLDR: 10/10 on casting, sweet, no rushed endingOne of the better medical romance c-dramas out there. I rarely like this genre because of the usual slow-paced plot dynamics, but this wasn't really the case with this title. The storyline covers Friendships, love, family, and realistic societal issues, which adds depth and conflict, making it interesting. BUT.... FL's actions are VERY predictable, and I was bored at some point- This is probably a reason why many choose to drop the drama. Get past the first few eps and see if the drama is for you. Take your time watching this title, and you might enjoy it as much as I did!
Overall, a pretty decent medical drama with realistic fire scenes- unlike other titles deliberately involving the FL as a victim in every accident or always making the ML save the FL. The cinematography is great; I appreciate the different types of catastrophes/crises they considered, not like other dramas as well :) Huge plus point for the visuals of the ML and FL, got me in a chokehold. High CP points!!

The Determination to Beat the Odds
This series is very good. ML (Yang Yang) and FL (Wang Chu Ran) have good chemistry as well as good non-verbal communication. Both leads handle the challenges and the pace of the storyline. There were parts within the series that started to feel exaggerated, but it is understandable when trying to drive home the importance and dangers of the first responder fields as well as weaving a romantic storyline. The character of the FL's bother (Wei Da Xun) was well-played. He captured the controlled and lonely aspects of the role brilliantly. The OST was nice and the CGI and production to capture the various dangerous scenes were very good. Even though (Vin Zhang) role as the fire instructor was short it was heartfelt and memorable. The ML's cousin (Yang Chao Yue) was very dynamic in her character delivery and ebb and flow of emotions. She is one to watch. This story gives a good understanding of what determination both mentally and physically against all odds can render with love and integrity as your guiding light. Worth the Watch! Was this review helpful to you?
Pretty nice after watching a serious drama.
An idol movie ^^Yang Yang!! xD
His adolescent character showcases his best performance :)
Otherwise, Yang is often posing : the bright smile / the frown (fault of the director I say!).
Lovely actors from Yang's career are here:
> actor Wang Yan Lin really shines here as the 2nd trainer of the fire squad. He had a role in You are my glory although I did not remember him.
> zesty Hu Ke from You are my glory (similar character)
> attractive actor Vin Zhang who played a hacker in the unique Love 020
Very happy to enjoy Zhang Yue's acting again in a role suited for her expressive face. I discovered her in the passionate drama Love like the galaxy (she played the bold Qi Qi).
There are many loves in here.
Faces are mostly emotionless though : most characters are repressed.
I do not understand why the male lead is attracted to the female lead but hey, does it matter? Lucky woman!
An important information is not told to the female lead and that bugged me (many long episodes but no room for it?).
As in the drama You are my glory:
Yang Yang, the national actor, is serving propaganda for state institutions (hospital / fire squad).
Glorification is dangerous. No civil servant should be trusted blindly.
Unlike in real life, the men are better than the women in this series ^^
It is a bit too much. Pop culture enforces the lies of patriarchy, consumerism, business as usual, etc.
...No politics as usual. Shouldn't we close down the mines as well as training professionals to help out in case of hurricanes?
PS: I cannot get used to how table-white the female is made to look > my cultural bias.

Long review but I have to get it all out! One of the most heartwarming dramas!
For those who dropped this drama or wrote a bad review about it (without finishing it or at least most of it)… your NUTS! It is a really really good drama! From beginning to end (I hope! I am not there yet but it is up to ep. 38).I was going to write my review several times but I am glad I waited until episode 38. I was going to knock down the storyline some and give it 9/10 but now I don’t have the heart to do it! Episodes 37-38 made my day!!! This is an excellent drama! It has the controlling parents (which I REALLY hate! But keep watching it gets good). Family. Drama. Love. Hate. Loyalty. Honor. It has it all! I laughed! I cried! So many times I wanted to tell the FL to grow a backbone and stand up to that awful mother! I loved how when she finds out what the mother did to the ML she finally had had enough. That mean woman held on though. Still thinking she was right and the the FL cousin brought her to her knees! It was the most rewarding part of this drama! Her revenge for her cousin was perfect and suitable!
Storyline - was really well done! Loved it all so far! I could say that YES, it was to lengthy and some of the “filler” could be taken out. But a good drama that is well written and well acted can suck you into the lives of every person portrayed in it! This drama did that for me. I was invested in ALL their lives! I cried when the firemen’s family’s cooked and sent the meals to them so they could have a taste of home. I cried when they lost a comrade and when the doctor/nurse cried in the movie theater for her loss of having him around. I cried when the ML was almost killed in the earth quake and the FL realized it was him. I laughed in so many parts I cannot count. I hated some of the people in the drama also. So to me, a drama that can touch on ALL my emotions is a really good drama! So 10/10 for me! Well done writers!
Acting/Cast - man where to start? Yang Yang - so I have seen a lot of his dramas/movies. I own one drama and one movie. He is an excellent actor! I love that he has grown so much over the years in his acting. He was kind of stiff in the first ones I watched and in “You are My Glory” I say a new side of him. A softer more relaxed side. But in this drama I saw an even bigger change..for the good! He has outdone himself in this drama. He is more human, if that makes sense. To me he is no longer just a good looking guy. Oh he is a good looking guy but now he is so much more! I can’t wait to see what he does next! As for the FL Wang Chu Ran- she is a good actress. I felt she was a wee bit stiff in this drama but that could be the character she was portraying. She did a great job! As for the rest of the cast… they did an awesome job! The mother - I was always told if an actor can make you hate them then they are a good actor. She did that so I give her thumbs up!
Rewatch - YES! YES! YES! It really was good! I want to watch it again but I will wait!

The FL is not good and have no character development
The relationship doesn’t develop at a good pace. The fl is stuck in the past. Not even willing to move on and give some space to ML. I think it would have been better if the story has developed differently. Yang Yang is good, however I do not like the FL, instead of moving forward she is stuck in the past and does not have the courage to face all her mother and brother issues. Mom is the worst. If the FL wanted to know the current self of male lead why did she not started at that from the beginning, instead of begging the ML to take her back instead of apologizing to the ML of what she did to him. No communication between FL and ML at all.Was this review helpful to you?
Slow Burn Drama
I started watching this drama only because of Yang Yang. The drama is a slow burn, starts gradually. The story is both hit and miss for me, so some time I skip/forward certain portions.I best part of the story is the characters look more real, like they show real reactions, emotions and show vulnerability like real people do. Secondly, each character matures/grows over the period of time.
The FL’s mother and brother are the typical Chinese drama family , that’s why it’s really boring.
We reached the middle of the episodes so now they should decide to let together ML-FL because now it’s stretching too much.
Overall it’s good drama. I don’t rewatch it.
