Well produced BL with a VERY good concept but still not enough, I want more
Finally sat down and watched it, second Taiwanese film I've watched where the main BL "couple" (or not so in this case it's kind of one sided) does not end up getting together at the end which gave me insane whiplash because the regular motherload of BL focuses on how quickly the main couple becomes canonAnyways this one has an actual plot and I thought it was pretty intriguing, the idea of a homophobic cop being forced to marry a dead gay guy because he has been cursed with bad luck after picking up a red letter and now he has to solve the mystery of his murder is actually cool, it's not a meet cute plot it's not a contrived highschool scenario it doesn't feel like fanfiction this actually feels like a movie
It's scooby doo level mystery but I thought the weakest part about it is Mao Mao, it's nearly impossible to sympathize with him throughout the duration of the movie, another issue is the comedy, Taiwanese humor is so lost on me it just barely ever cracks a good enough punchline but there are definitely some that got a smile or two out of me
The production value though, oh my god did they spend a good dime on this movie especially the CGI which looks really stupid but they still went out of their way
It also ends unceremoniously I was honestly surprised, it was a very weird decision to have the ghost reincarnate at the middle of the movie and then have it come back as a gag to the plot and then re-reincarnate for even less of the emotional value at the end with a half baked confession from the dad
For BL standards, this is good, we almost never have a decent plot and this one at least bothers having an overarching one, carried by Greg Han who is actually so insanely hot my god

What is this??? *In a funny way*
From the start to end I was like "What I'm just watching". The plot was a bit interesting and weird, and it develops exactly like that. I enjoyed in some parts but other parts were just boring. Anyway, it wasn't bad, just not how I expected. It definitely could be better (or worse ??).The acting was fine. The chemistry make it funnier but I didn't buy it when they were so connected with each other, like when that happened?
Anyway, it was a little too long but ok.
Well, well, well, I don't even know what else should I say lol

My March Recommendation movie
Watched this for my Recommendation Challenge from 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕1221. Let’s talk movie…The story follows Wu Ming-han (MH), a hot-headed, homophobic, and highly superstitious police officer. Because of his brash, arrogant & reckless behavior on the job, his superior officer assigned him to neighborhood cleanup duty (picking up trash) as a disciplinary punishment.
While he was grumbling and picking up litter with his tongs, he spotted the red envelope in the street. Thinking it was just another trash to be cleared, he picked it up—and that's when an old lady yelled and suddenly the rest of the group appeared & surrounded him, claiming he was the chosen groom. According to local folklore, this means he has "consented" to a ghost marriage with the deceased owner. The owner is Mao Mao (MM), a young gay man who died in a mysterious hit-and-run accident.
Terrified and unwilling—especially because the groom is a man—MH tries to refuse. But after experiencing a series of bizarre and life-threatening incidents, he has no choice but to go through with the ritual.
To his horror, after the wedding, MH begins to see and communicate with MM. Unlike the scary vengeful spirit MH expected, MM is not scary and quite quirky. MM simply can’t move on to the afterlife because he has "unfulfilled wishes."
The two strike a deal: if MH helps MM fulfill his final wishes and uncover the truth behind his death, MM will move on to the afterlife and leave MH alone.
As they investigate, they discover that MM’s death wasn't just an accident—it was a hit-and-run committed by a notorious drug lord, Lin Hsiao-yuan—a target MH is already pursuing. Now, two missions become one, MH and MM work together: MH handles the real-world investigation, while MM uses his ghostly abilities to assist from the shadows.
Through their journey, MH begins to change—not just about spirits, but about love, identity, and what it means to truly see someone.
And when the final moment comes… How will it all end?
Will MM finally find peace—and cross over to the afterlife?
Or will he simply… disappear?
That's pretty much the story without giving anymore spoilers.
What I like:
+ Some scenes are simply just hit the spot, some are funny (like when MH first met MM), but some are also so sad (like the last scene).
+ When prejudice meets their karma not all end up bad…
+ The unexpected betrayal….
What I’m not too like:
- The scene sometimes is just too exaggerated & silly.
Overall this is a really good movie to watch….

A buddy cop movie with an atypical ghost element
This buddy cop movie is quite atypical as it features a fantastical element with this very interesting concept of "ghost marriage". It contains a lot of the usual elements of such movie with the investigation, the buddying up between 2 very different individuals as well as the comedic aspects but the LGBTQ+ topic approached in addition with the fantastical twist bring some freshness to the genre. It is quite light and does not take itself very seriously, it has almost a parodic vibe. This makes it an overall fun watch which could have been even better with a tighter writing and a better pacing. The acting is quite good: I was more convinced by the comedic scenes than by the emotional ones...Still, I'm quite certain that it is more related to the script being a bit bonkers at times as well as the filmmaking a bit over-the-top than to the actors themselves.
The music did not leave a lasting impression on me and I'm not sure I will necessarily re-watch the movie but I had a good time watching it for sure.
I would recommend this to people that are looking for a comedy with an interesting premise and like buddy cop movies. It is not very memorable, nor very deep, gritty or dark but it is quite entertaining and fun, which is sometimes just what you need.

story
I didn’t like the movie at all. The plot was all over the place and lacked clarity, making it hard to stay engaged. It felt slow and boring, with scenes that dragged on without any real purpose. The comedy was especially disappointing—it felt forced and unnatural, as if they were trying too hard to be funny but completely missed the mark. Instead of making me laugh, it just felt awkward and out of place. By the time it reached the ending, it was downright cringeworthy, leaving me frustrated rather than entertained. Was this review helpful to you?

Quirky fun
Ridiculous idea which could have turned out really badly...but it was funny, silly and sad. A homophobic cop (Greg Hsu) messes up again and again until he finds himself in the biggest mess he's made: somehow he ends up marrying a man (Austin Lin)...who happens to be dead!It was inevitable that the cop would have an epiphany and become less (and eventually not) homophobic but the journey there was fun (and sometimes I just rolled my eyes).
What I liked: good looking male leads! There were some laugh out loud (and I did), verging on slapstick, scenes throughout the film and especially towards the end. I admit that the ambulance scene made me sad and then almost cheer.
What I didn't like: the reason the female character was looking for vengeance was too obvious for my liking, but I could see that it brought a major part of the story to its conclusion.
Overall, a fun film which is worth watching if you fancy trying something different.

Gay straight pairing ... Light BL vibes ... A good one though
As my headline suggests .. they made a gay- straight pairing. Maybe that's why there was no intimate or even a kiss scene between the leads but their chemistry was bang on!The story moves slowly and gets interesting as it progresses.
The acting is pretty good.
The theme seems to be BL but it is light hearted comic cop story with little sadness and twist here and there.
My BL heart really wished for a different ending or atleast a final kiss between the leads to make up for the ending bcoz even though one of the lead claimed himself to be "Straight" but you can find him slowly falling for the other lead.
Anyway, overall a good movie to watch and kill time.

Super Sweet and Lovely - a Movie to Smile for
Well this will be a short review, I just want to say that I had low expectations and it surprised me a lot. To me the may plot is the relation between the MCs so it was good would loved some more romanticism but ok, the second plot was to some extent predictable but ok too.I would say that is a really good film for a rainy day of a winter night because it will surly warm the hearts of anyone who watch it.
It is definitely worth watching even more if you watch it with your significant other.

Spoiler ahead!!
This movie is too good, ive rewatched it two times thats how good it is. Its a mix of genre's despite that its still good, ive never seen this kind of plot before. The acting is so good actor Austin Lin portrayed it so well and also Greg Hsu. The ending is too bad though i wish we couldve gotten a reincarnation as the characters said throughout the movie about getting a reincarnation. They should create a second movie about maomao reincarnating and the officer finding him. The ending is what dissapoints me 😔. This movie is good and a must watch if you like a mix of genre. Was this review helpful to you?
Great storyline and mesmerizing acting with a NOTE. Laogong!
Stumbled this bcs I got hooked with the trailer and how the stories goes. Heres what I get.(Pro) : -This has to be the best storyplot in taiwanese bromance/bl genre. The story is well cooked.
- Wu Minghan(Greg) really carried the from the beginning into the end with his acting
- The comedy is really well done :))))))))
- Did I cry ? Yes !
(Cons) : - Great Story line but I wish execution was better. Bcs theres so many stories in here that make you bawl your eyes out.
- Missed opportunity in some scene, theres a scene that actually can make you cried but they keep changing and jumping in the other words it actully has fast-deliver story execution. I just wish it was slower so I can enjoy some part like the part under the bridge it was missed opportunity and also the bar scene it was a good opportunity but again they ruined it !
-The Unnecesary Nudity, theres a lot of nudity in this movie that really seems often appeared. They dont really have to show it anyway since they have a strong storyline tho.
-CGI, Its not bad it just I dont really care bcs i came for the story not for anything else so yeah :)))))))))))))))

“ A Heartfelt and Hilariously Unique Take on Love, Loss, and Friendship"
Marry My Dead Body is an unexpected gem in the supernatural comedy genre. It cleverly balances comedy, emotional moments, and social themes, making it more than just a quirky ghost story. The setup—a ghost marriage between a living police officer and a spirit—sounds outlandish, but the show quickly proves that it has more depth than expected. One of the drama’s strongest aspects is its character development. Both leads start off with their own flaws and biases, and their journey together is full of growth and unexpected friendship. The chemistry between the main characters is electric, and they play off each other perfectly, providing a mix of laugh-out-loud humor and deeply touching moments. This contrast between comedic banter and genuine emotion keeps the story engaging and relatable, despite its fantastical premise.
The show also deserves credit for its sensitive handling of LGBTQ+ themes, which can be rare in Asian dramas. It addresses societal prejudices in a natural and thought-provoking way, allowing the story to go beyond surface-level humor and explore deeper questions about acceptance, identity, and love.
Visually, the drama is vibrant and well-crafted, with an effective use of special effects that enhance the supernatural elements without feeling overdone. The production quality is solid, and the pacing feels just right, keeping the story moving while giving us time to connect with the characters.
If there’s any minor downside, it might be that some plot points feel a bit predictable, or that certain comedic elements get repeated. But these are small critiques in an otherwise well-executed drama.
Overall: Marry My Dead Body is a heartfelt, funny, and refreshingly original drama that strikes a beautiful balance between humor, romance, and social commentary. It’s not afraid to tackle tough topics while still keeping things light and entertaining. For anyone looking for a unique drama with depth and humor, this is a must-watch.
Final Rating: 9.5/10

Touched story
This is a great story to show how a homophobic person can be home soft to a gay guy. The character development so good and it's made me cry when Maomao finally can reincarnated. This story aren't too LGBT for me because the elements aren't to heavy and even though they have too much nude scene. I wouldn't call this a porn, atleast we only can see the butts
The action plot for this movie also well made, this movie very good and not too bored.
