Honestly came into this with no expectation because I missed the hype train by a couple of months, however I was hooked from the first episode. I love character study dramas, especially ones where the characters are morally grey, but this exceeded my expectations. Some of the characters are just batshit crazy and I highly appreciate that - I had a lot of fun watching.The romance was an absolute joy to watch and the storytelling is amazing. It is very hard to fault, I'd recommend this drama to anyone who is looking for character focused dramas. Please heed the trigger warnings other people have mentioned though, this drama does contain depiction of physical abuse, emotional abuse, manipulation, self harm, and mentions of murder and suicide. Definitely err on the safe side and do not watch if any of the above themes trigger you.

DO NOT SKIP THIS DRAMA! High production quality + storyline, no awkward/boring scenes.

This kind of drama is one all producers (BL, GL, het dramas, idc ALL PRODUCERS) should be taking notes for. Words cannot express how sensation the watch was. This kind of quality is hard to find and is the type to keep me interested in romance. Not only does it articulate the importance of consent and communication, but it also showcases what a good vs toxic relationship looks like. I am certainly rewatching this because I have never seen such perfect presentation of a love square EVER.

Even with just 8 episodes you can really develop empathy for Da-on. He's not submissive but tends to passively push through pain and mistreatment which does break audiences' hearts. It's a nice detail that with Seonghyeon, he's seen for who he is and doesn't feel the need to pretend he's doing alright. In fact, the level of kindness received was unlike any he received in the past, and because he doesn't know how to accept kindness, he pushes Seonghyeon away time after time after time. It may be frustrating but it's realistic and it characterises both leads.

I freaking hate Jaemin, and Soohyun isn't on the "nice list" either. I do wish we could've seen more of Soohyun's affectionate side, like with his niece and all. Jaemin, however, has the personality that can make one send waves of anger through the screen. It actually represents mental health quite well, and while his attempt to take Da-on and himself into the afterlife was... random it accentuates the seriousness of his controlling, cruel nature.

I do commend that how well Seonghyeon remained authentic and thoughtful, almost too thoughtful throughout the series. He's what you call the epitome of selflessess, and what love can do to someone. It's a direct contrast to the toxic energy of the other pursuers which pinpoints the clear issues Jaemin and Soohyun have as partners.

Finally, the climax of the last episode felt quite meaningful. Jaemin's aggression definitely reflected a worldview where he could possess Da-on like a puppet and keep him like a treasure nobody could touch. Soohyun may have feelings for Da-on but it's also partially warped by trauma and poor communication skills. I do think how he stood still was helpless though, because it only shows how minimally his actions appear, and how he doesn't have the capacity to respond in real time. Seonghyeon taking the knife wound made me scream on the inside, but honestly I think it was perfect because it connotates to how much he loved Da-on. He's proved over and over again why he deserves him, and I honestly could not have seen a better pairing.

Recommending this drama to literally anyone (even if you hate toxic relationships, you should root for Joo Seonghyeon because he's the pure soul you'll love).

A Treasure that must be found!

Who would have thought that a good drama can be found in an expected way. It was not a mainstream drama, correct me if I am wrong, but it was made just like one. I never had high hopes yet on BL from Kdrama not until I watched this series.

Like what I've said, I click this series because one of its character ranked high in the monthly rating here in MDL. I checked who he was since I am not familiar with him (referring to Cha Jung Woo). I checked him also because he looks like Lee Jun Young in his picture here. And when I click his name, Secret Relationship is his latest drama so I got curious.

The first few scenes of the episode really got me curious. It is important to get me hooked on the first episode and this drama series just got me on the first few minutes of it. In addition, Kim Jun Seo looks good and charming in that few minutes so I decided to keep going. And as the story progresses, the one I thought was the conflict was not really the conflict but rather just part of the whole picture. I do not want to spoil much I love story conflicts, it made me wonder and made me hold on to the series. The conflicts was so broad and so deep. I loved it.

I felt the character of Jun Seo which is Da on. Hoping that we find love for someone like us, we tend to confuse kindness with affection. But on this story Da on was really cute and I believe he deserves all the love. I am rooting for the other character that was not chosen because I am really sad on how their love story turned out. It his fault, maybe it was for the best. I commend how the epilogues builds the "kilig (thrill)" and the back story. Epilogue made me root for that person. But the epilogue at the finale and the final episode itself, shows that the one Da-on's chose deserve his love.

The script was good and how the lines was made was actually on point. There are BL dramas that too cringey or not that realistic but the lines here are good and felt real. The story might be 0.01% to happen in real life, but it can happen. Even the obsession in the end can really happen and I love how they incorporate it in this series.

I hope you got the point. And it was my honest opinion. I really love this drama. It was on top of my BL list for now. I hope you can find this treasure as well!

Incredibly good acting

Secret Relationships is one of those BL dramas that catches you off guard and then refuses to let go. From the very first episode, it’s packed with tension, charm, and the kind of chemistry that makes every glance feel important. The storytelling feels fresh, and the pacing keeps the viewer completely hooked.

One of the strongest aspects of the series is definitely the acting. Every character has a distinct personality, and the actors deliver them with so much sincerity that you can’t help but root for your favorites. I especially enjoyed watching the dynamic between Daon and the two love interests—it felt natural, funny, and emotional all at once.

However, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with the ending. While it makes sense narratively that Daon chooses the softer, more gentle personality of Ju Seong Hyeon, I personally found myself wishing for Su Hyeon to be the final choice. Su Hyeon’s character had a depth and edge that stood out to me more, and I felt that his connection with Daon had a different kind of spark—something more complex and intriguing. That said, it really comes down to personal preference, and I completely understand why many viewers love the softness of Ju Seong Hyeon. He’s sweet, caring, and definitely the “safe” choice.

In the end, Secret Relationships keeps you invested, makes you feel things, and leaves lots to think about—even if the final decision isn’t the one you were rooting for. Whether you prefer the softness of Seong Hyeon or the intensity of Su Hyeon, the journey is absolutely worth watching.

Amazing plot!!! I loved the drama

Okay so Damn!
initially I felt the plot was kinda boring. but then Uff the plot twist was sooooo darn good!!
omg I felt only soohyun was really obsessed with the main lead but comparing him with shin, he wasn't!!! shin was so manipulative omg! It wasn't soohyun’s fault to be mad coz like he suffered so much due to shin…

tho I shipped main lead and soohyun 🥺 lmao anyways loved the plot twist and the acting like was really amazing! I want season 2 so damn bad ahhhh.

The drama was perfectly paced.
The character development was soo amazing. For me this drama was really good and maybe I am gonna watch it again!!!

Damn! Probably One if the best if all time

It's hard to find a bl with an actually interesting plot and I know many people will agree.

I don't usually enjoy "one person-many suitors" dramas but gave this a try happy I did! this exceeded my expectations in every way!

This was fresh and the plot twists are actually good and interesting.

The cast!!! I'm hoping to see them in many good works in the future. They are truly talented.

I am kind of (maybe a lot) picky with shows I watch because when it's not interesting right away I just drop it.. I'm not the type to wait until it gets better..And I don't hesitate to drop it even halfway or near ending if it gets boring bcs I really can't stand meaninglessly dragging the story or the scenes that makes no sense...So if you are like me.. Give it a try! It's been so long since I've been so satisfied with a bl so I really recommend it.

Amazing drama??

I really didn't know what to expect. I took a long time to finally start watching it coz i couldn't make time to watch

The plot twists really blew my mind. The narratives changed so drastically after every revelation

The story was so well written. Hats off.

The actors were top notch. Each and every character delivered their role so well. It was so amazing

I personally fell for Cha Sun Hyung who played the role of Seonghyeon. He was such a cutie, energetic character. I loved this character so so much. I'd smile just by seeing his cute smile.

The episodes where he was sad broke my heart.
