A little different...maybe?
This show has many elements I've been wanting in a BL for a long time, like straight couples as well as gay couples that actually have characters of their own, main leads with an actual family and deep connection, and keeping it real while also keeping the element of fluff.1. The ML ⭐️
Hee Su is a really good character. He has an actual hobby: astronomy. I say actual because he uses astronomy metaphors to describe what's going on in his life in the best way and this is one of my favorite things in the show. Also he's basically a consultant, giving people good relationship advice all the time. He's smart and caring and learns fast. He's also very relatable, not being able to talk about his 'dark secret' even with his best friend. But in the end he decides not to carry that burden any longer. This is what we've seen in many shows, but this one is one of my favorites, because the characters are so well-written and the context is so well-made you feel it to your bones.
2. Straight Couples 📏
I've seen some people complain about the straight parts in the show, but I couldn't help but love those parts as well. Normally in BL shows there are one straight couple per 10 gay couples. Practically everyone turns out to be gay. Even if there are families and family members, they are gay too. This sometimes bothers me because it's so far from reality. in these BL shows even when people want to ask a guy if he's in a relationship they say 'do you have a boyfriend?' I mean when does that happen? this is normally not the default idea when people ask a guy if he's in a relationship. (Unless they know his sexual orientation.)
I love the straight couples here. They all have their own character with their own dreams and problems and personalities and aren't just there to fill the plot. They actually have a considerable effect on both the story and the ML. Also one thing about the straight couples here is that they don't feel like most straight ones we see in kdramas. Even in kdramas with strong women, there are always moments where the woman needs the man to save her. There's no escape from strong man, weak woman cliche in these shows. Maybe that's why they never satisfied me. But here that doesn't happen; the relationship feels more equal, like ones we like to see in BLs. And also ironically this is closer to reality.
3. The Slow Burn ❤️🔥
But maybe my favorite thing here was the slow burn of the change of Hee Su's feelings; the way his one-sided love for Chan Young ended and started for Seung Won. Normally the time isn't enough for that in most shows and the production is not that good for it anyway. But look at this. I loved the last episode very much. That last confession was explosive as it should have been. And again I found myself loving the slow burn romance more than any other type; when they finally confess and start smiling at each other shyly and hold hands, I scream and giggle and kick my feet and nothing else can give me that fluffy feeling but Slow Burn 😍
4. How It Ends 🔚
I Loved the part where Hee Su explains his way to finish a one-sided love, and I agree with him. That kind of love only ends when you use up all the feelings you have for that person, and then you'll calm down. Although I'm not sure how that happens. Maybe if that one-sided crush is simply impossible and also you find a sweet, lovely person who cares for you deeply? 🥰
5. But wait... NO KISS?!
Yes, it felt incomplete. The only reason I'm not mad for the absence of the kiss we've been waiting for so long is that my babies have just started dating. After all the push and pull to start it, it's a bit too fast to expect a kiss. Also the story ended with almost no loose ends... but still there MUST BE a special episode or something. Cuz the chemistry between Hee Su and Seung won was looking delicious and you can't convince me to be satisfied with just holding hands! 😤

Should we really call this series Heesu in class2 ?
The series had everything to be great, but it turned into a funeral, the protagonist's story was not developed, the main couple ended up being left aside, which makes no sense at all. Despite being cute, it ends up being boring to watch because the main story has no development, I don't know what the writers and the team were thinking when they wrote this. I hope Thailand or Japan make a better remake.I think all viewers were disappointed with the way the story unfolded, 10 episodes and the protagonists only stayed "like a couple" for 2 minutes?

Underwhelming
This …BL??? tried to be great but ended up being just ..cute. Our main guys’ story was built from disjointed crumbs left from all the other story arcs we didn’t care about. And I’m not even talking abt the straight couple but why did we need to see his sisters’ love lives? Or Chang Yeong’s family drama? Why our guys had 5 minute screen time together per episode? Why they gave us those ..fragmented scenes that made us wonder “Wait a minute, did I miss something? Weren’t they about to have pizza dinner together? Why am I seeing his sister breaking up with her bf instead of our guys having freaking dinner together??” I don’t know what the producers or the directors tried to do (and why the author accepted this ..butchering of their work) but they didn’t mange to make it work. All they manage to produce was a pretentious BLwannabe where Hee Su spent more time philosophizing about stars and planets and black holes than actually having conversations with the ppl around him while Seung Won walked around with a continuous poker face like a stoned zombie. And you wanna know the irony? The best character in the entire show was the girl (Ji Yu) She was awesome . It’s pretty damn telling (and sad) when the most interesting character in a BL is a woman. And it’s a shame because it had great actors and interesting premise. Was this review helpful to you?

Kinda disappointed
What got me really angry was that I felt deceived by the writers, directors and producers or whomever gave life to this show... they used us, BL fans as bait to completely overshadow the main couple SOOOO much that it felt almost the whole series if they were the second couple and the main characters were the straight couple... It was almost 10 hours of stupid miscommunication and the straight couple trying to be together... I understand that kissing in high school is inappropriate let alone sleeping together is very uncommon in Asian series... different from western ones but the ending felt rushed, without a pace and with a bitter taste just because the main couple got to be together... I honestly didn't like it. The acting was actually pretty convincing and solid but I'm extremely disappointed...Was this review helpful to you?

not great but it has its merits
I should say right off that I haven't read the manhwa, and it sounds like the series veered pretty far from it. As a series, it's light and funny, and I really enjoyed Ahn Ji-ho as Hee-su. There is the usual misunderstandings, missed moments of communication, and silliness mixed with heartache. As others have mentioned, the main couple (Hee-su and Seung-won) do not get the screen time they deserved. Instead of one interesting side couple, it felt like there were too many couples and too many side stories ... Hee-su was constantly leaving and arriving at his house and not a lot happened for him in between. Ahn Ji-ho is both funny and heartbreaking, and the voice over has some gems in it. It's a great scene when the main couple *finally* clears things up and get together. But then ... it ends. I loved the sisters, who were hilarious and showed a lot of love as a family, but their stories needed trimming, too. I needed a light show and this one fit the bill at the time, though I won't watch it again. Was this review helpful to you?

Did the Most Anticipated BL adaptation live upto the Expectations??
Love is a vast universe of moments — some that shatter us, some that heal us, all of them helping us grow.Heesu in Class 2 captures this tender truth with breathtaking grace.
Adapted from the beloved webtoon Heesu in Class 2 by Lily Zuzu, this Korean BL drama is a heartfelt exploration of first love, growing up, and finding the courage to be yourself. Streaming now on Viki, the series stars Ahn Ji Ho as Lee Hee Su, a self-proclaimed dating expert who’s ironically never been in a relationship. Nursing a long-time crush on his best friend Joo Chan Young (played by Cho Jun Young), Hee Su’s world is shaken when he begins to realize that love, like life, doesn’t always unfold the way we expect.
The early episodes introduce a web of connections: Chan Young, who struggles with his own feelings; Kim Seung Won (Lee Sang Jun), the quiet class president who secretly loves Hee Su; and Choi Ji Yu (Kim Do Yeon), whose growing bond with Chan Young adds another layer of complexity. The ensemble cast brings raw, nuanced performances, portraying the messy, tangled emotions of youth with refreshing honesty.

Who is Heesu beyond his romantic interest?
I love the manhwa, but I also understand adaptations aren't obligated to follow the source material. With that in mind, I don't think this is the worst drama I have seen. But, it still falls short. What I found so interesting about Heesu, but also so incredibly sad is that when we first meet him he isn’t introduced as his own person and he isn't aware of how much his identity is tied to someone else. I don't think the drama explores the complexity of that to the extent that it should.
Heesu is well known in school for giving dating advice, but none of those student even remember his name. He is often referred to as Chan Yeong’s shadow. And while he might not know himself, he knows one thing for sure. He likes Chan Yeong and likes being by his side.
Heesu is trying so hard to be in orbit to Chan Yeong’s universe. But, Pluto gets expelled from the solar system for being so similar to hundreds of other stars and goes from being special to ordinary and Heesu just wants to be special.
His whole identity is wrapped around someone else. He doesn’t know what food he likes because he’ll just eat whatever Chan Yeong wants to eat. He tries to join the video production club because Chan Yeong signed up for it. But, the club is full and for the first time we see a character, Seung Won, who notices something about Heesu that isn’t in relation to Chan Yeong.
He tells Heesu that he is great at listening to others and helping students. He suggests signing up for the counseling club. For the first time, Heesu is being noticed for the significant impact he makes on others. He's recognized as that guy who very specifically likes carrot juice. It’s a thing that he likes that isn't borrowed from someone else.
The moments that stands out the most to me is when we learn more about Heesu as someone more than his unrequited love. It's when we get to see him as an an individual. But it doesnt happen often. We get to see some of that through Seung Won’s perspective as he carefully observes him.
Alone in his own house, Seung Won could hear Heesu and his sister’s arguing next door and you see him smile at all the noise against the silence of his own home. It’s these moments where we get to see into their lives and who these characters are. Seung Won who is lonely and who likes hearing the noise of family being together. Heesu at home who clearly complains and expresses what he likes and doesn't like and doesnt dismiss it like he typically does outside of the home where he'll just eat whatever popcorn or food his friends like.
I wish we got more moments like that, but not enough time was given to learn more about Heesu and Seung Won as individuals. In fact, not enough time was even given on their emerging relationship.
While it’s great that Heesu finally figures out that he likes Seung Won, I wish we got more time with Heesu figuring out who he is as a person that isn't in relation to others. Who is Heesu beyond his romantic interests? The drama spends so much time focusing on everyone else. His sisters, Chan Yeong, and Ji Yu who are all chasing after what they like and their passion. It's fine to include, but not at the expense of sacrificing space to explore Heesu’s self-discovery of becoming the protagonist of his own narrative.
It had the ingredients to be something special but didn't quite meet its potential.

Don't watch this if u expect bl(its kinda just bromance)
Ok so just finished watching ep 10,what a disappointment..., i can't see any chemistry between seung won and heesu. There should've been more love moments, but noo we get jiyu and chan yeoung 😃(i can't even remember the time heesu and seung were together). Love the straight washing and the confession felt so meh, seung could've told heesu about the truth of carrot juice situation but didn't for some reason, this storyline felt so dry(the story had potential tbh😕). i had to skip some parts that were unnecessary like(heesu’s sisters, chan yeoung, seung won’s mother) these would be fine if there were more episodes but just 10,which felt rushed. the only thing that came close to touch is them holding hands(lasted mere seconds). My love mix up is better, it had no kiss but delivered the story betterthan this...

If you need to "Just skip" the majority of the show, it is not a good show
Let's start from the beginning. It is not a BL. Youth story, story about highschoolers, anything but BL. You know why is it disappointing? It's adapted from a pure BL. But, regardless.Positives:
- Music. You can hardly go wrong with music, but it happened in some shows, so I'm still giving a point for that.
- Visuals. Beautiful. You can tell that they poured a lot of money into this one.
- Acting. If some of the characters are annoying to you, it means that the actor played them well. Well....if it was meant to be that way? Otherwise, oops. Still, acting is the highlight of the show.
- The astronomy methaphors. Every single one of them is beautiful, and every single one captures the summary of the each episode beautifully. I wished there were less tennis and more of Astronomy, but oh well. Some people wish that pigs could fly.
- Heesu and Seungwon. Separated, together. They gave a lot of depth to them specifically...not always knowing what to do with it though. You can remove everyone else from the story, and story becomes better. Not amazing, but good. Still, i said everything about that in the headline.
- As a youth story it's okay. If you do not take it as anything else but a youth story, if not, well....
Negatives:
- Let's start from the elephant in the room. The straight pair, that got together almost at the very beginning, and for the quite a big chunk of the show we saw them dating, while the main pair fubled around each other. You could've shown the begining of their crush. How they briefly dated, sure. But showing them in our faces every time when the mains are barely friends is straight up disrespectful, considering that it's adapted. From the bl. Where they didn't even exist. And it's not the only one straight pair, nooo. Sisters and their boyfriends, Ho Shik and his girlfriend. Everyone got to shine. Expect for, well.
- Pacing. Too fast, too slow. Some crucial and important moments happen in the blink of an eye, but the unimportant stuff drags so badly you wonder what's the show even about.
- Character development. Oh no, the mains are okay. Could be better though. But literally everyone else? I couldn't tell if I'm supposed to see them as comic reliefs or serious characters. Cause why, pray tell, did you give so much screen time to Chan Yeong and his tennis and then just....not done anything meaningful with it?
- This being an adaptation. In short....it is not. It's a completely different show, that has characters under the same names. Why would you even adapt this one, if you hated it that much? I have no idea.
- This being a supposed "slow burn". Where's the persistent tension between the main leads? Where's the lots and lots of meaningful scenes and deep conversations? Slow burning show, sure. Not slow burning relationship, though.
Overall, if you're not a fan of the original work, and not a fan of queer centric stories, but a fan of simple youth stories, this is for you. For everyone else....i am deeply sorry, really. But as a queer story, as an adaptation, this is a disappointment.
If someone wants to crop everyone from the show and just keep Heesu and Seungwon separate and together, you can get a decent show. Otherwise, well, i do not see why would you rewatch it.

Wholesome and sweet high school romance
This show is so cute and in my opinion perfectly paced. It features 2 couples, one M/M and one F/M. Their stories are closely intertwined, so we see all of their backstories and perspectives. The characters are shown as flawed and well-rounded with diverse families, interests, dreams and insecurities. The direction, cinematography and acting are all high quality.
Some may feel the story or romance is slow-paced, but I think it is perfect, since Heesu must first get over Chanyoung before he can start a romance with someone else. Furthermore, they are high schoolers, so even holding hands is a big deal here.
