My favorite character in this drama, was the grandmother, she spoke her mind, she don't hold back. She was funny, love the sounds she make when things make know sense to her..lol, you would have to hear it. My second favorite character was the oldest son in-law, damn good actor. When he cried, you would want to cry. Hes the only person in the drama I felt sorry for. He had it the hardest, but, never gave up...
Awesome drama, this will be my come back and re-watch drama...9/10 stars.

Entertaining and thought provoking. I would have given a 10 for re-watch value but 50 episodes is alot to re-watch. In my opinion the pieces all fell where they should at the end.
Kudos to the cast & crew for making this one so memorable.

Textbook good 40-60 episode drama
This is arguably one of my favorite dramas of all time, if not my absolute favorite. Anyone who's making a 40+ episode drama should watch this for its pacing alone. One thing I love about Wang’s Family is the proper pacing paired with good writing. No scene has poorly written dialogue that feels boring or stretched out, and it never dwells too long on any one scene or story element. It’s always pushing forward to the next thing or the next stage in the arc, constantly keeping you on your toes. And while you will have those classic cheesy drama elements where things happen for X reason but, for the most part almost every character goes through a wonderfully written storyline that's still a joy to rewatch.
My only cavate is that the first half of the series is like a 7-8/10 while the 2nd half is an 8-8.5/10 but Everything ties together, and nothing feels left out by the end. It’s just nice to see such a solid drama, especially for me, because I’m not always interested in every character in a drama, but here, they’re all great.
edit 2025: cleaned up review and added a little more after a 2025 currently on-going rewatch

"The Korean war was nothing compared to this drama. Egh, hyo, hyo, hyo, hyo."
Hilarious? check. Great romance? check. Distressing? check.Entertaining? Double check. Dramatic? Triple check.
It's a complex family drama that deserved the sky-high ratings when it aired.
I would laugh hard, and feel really sad few times within the same episode.
Great ost. Really good soundtrack that deserves recognition. And most importantly, it fits the drama so well.
The drama is not heartwarming and cozy. It is about getting over all kinds of difficulties and conflicts and healing. It is also funny, has the best romance, and so much drama.
At first I hated the guts of some of the characters, and I still do. But they were family that cared about each other after all.
The sweetest, cutest, most compatible couple is in this drama. It makes you squeal in happiness. They were like a match made in heaven. Their romance was so beautiful. And their scenes were SO cute.
Way better than other, more popular dramas. I got so excited, laughed from ear to ear, bit my tongue. At the same time felt sad about how much people have to go through in this drama.
Never-ending problems. The drama deals with so many things. The writer was attentive to many realistic details.
FUN-FACT: the actress playing Subak, the daughter who keeps bragging about going for Miss Korea, won the 1989 Miss Korea beauty pageant for real!
Rewatch value is high because it's really funny and it's even funnier when you understand the puns and the humor. Because reading the subtitles wasn't everything. Understanding some Korean adds so much depth to the meaning.
At last I'd like to end with some wisdom "Put yourself in others' shoes" (Wang family's Motto)
