Like an extremely solid extended director's cut movie
This is how a proper monstrous drama should look like, an absolutely much better take compared to some of the Korean "monsterflix" lately that are mostly disappointing. The storyline has a lot of clever surprises along with characters that make hell lots of sense, character motivation is crystal clear even during highly complicated face-offs. The action sequences and graphics are so powerful it's totally top class cinema, the soundtrack plays an even bigger part in progressing the suspense, it's unbelievably well tuned to its fighting scenes. It just works like an extremely solid extended director's cut movie that seriously deserves to be shown on the big screen. Was this review helpful to you?

A pure thrill ride
This one is such an exhilarating drama. Through and through an engaging spectacle. I went in expecting similarity between the 2014 and 2015 Japanese adapted movies, but this is far superior to the movies. Firstly the story has a balanced storyline giving equal importance to all relevant characters and details. I did not find it dwindling or lacking much, though it seems to be more inspired than based on the manga, but no complaints there. The acting is great and every character is played well. The music sure elevates the scenes further and the action sequences look amazing as well. It is fast-paced, well-written and well-fleshed out. Even the emotional background of the main lead is expanded well and provides the perfect impact needed for character understanding.
Excited for the sequence if there is one (by the looks of the last scene, it sure seems like it), but we all knew there had to be a sequence given all the praises the show is garnering.

Not a manga adaptation, but a storyline in the same timeline to show how it happens in Korea
Just finished watching it in one sitting. I like that it only used the Parasyte theme and not adapting the manga plot and storyline. So it makes it look like the Parasyte happening in Korea in the same timeline as Shinichi Izumi. You know how sometimes you read a manga about end of the world and the heroes are all fighting only in one country and it makes you wonder, "so how does other countries manage the apocalypse?" The Korean parasite is exactly that. It shows how the parasyte takes over Korea. That's why Shinichi can visit her, because they're not making Shinichi Korean ver., but rather making their own heroes. Love it so much. 9/10.
I would love different versions from different countries and have both the Korean and Japanese casts cameo-ing.

Great short series!
The series is really good. I love the concept and plot. I'm curious about where the parasites came from, though. The actors are great, and the cinematography and monster designs are impressive. It Offers a compelling viewing experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression. From its captivating plot to its standout performances and stunning visuals, it has all the elements of a must-watch show.

Fun watch with depth of character
This is an amazing adaptation to the Japanese version. It follows a really similar story line for those who has read or seen the Parasyte Movies. It gives Sweet Home vibes as well.Besides the action of this show the creators have been able to create a suspenseful plot and an incredible layer of depth and insight to the human condition. Using these beings as a way to unravel how human's think from an external perspective. Sooin's parasyte is also able to use her external insight in order to show Soo-in the things that she herself was unwilling or unable to see and it helped to develop more layers to her character without boring the audience.
I really enjoyed the ending of the show, it is leading me to hope that there are more seasons to come.

Gripping ~ needs S2 to continue monentum
May 2024Not a limited series, therefore a S2 expected, dependant on ratings I assume, so fingers crossed.
I loved the pace and the characters. At 6 episodes there is little room for depth, but to be honest, personally I don't think a series always needs it. If the aim is thrills and entertainment, that's not the point anyway.
There is enough background to understand main characters and the action starts fairly quickly.
Jung Soo-in (actress Jeon So-nee) is a somewhat tragic character; when her Parasyte, whom gets named Heidi, comes to the fore, Soo-in 'sleeps' and vice versa.
That's not a new concept and has been used in many dramas about multiple personality disorder (Hyde, Jeckyll, Me; Kill Me Heal Me). However, with an alien cohabiting Soo-in's brain that can't be psychoanalysed away, it gives things a totally different feel.
The SFX are pretty good and some scenes of confrontation are excellent.
There are sad aspects to the plot, but perhaps due to the lack of episodes, I didn't feel connected enough to characters to get emotional; I was more shocked on a couple of occasions.
I actually loved the character of Heidi (but I am sure we are supposed to) and Jeon So-nee effortlessly carries off switching between the two.
Seol Kang Woo (Koo Kyo Hwan) is a witty, cocky character on the wrong side of the law and self-serving. Circumstances bring him together with Soo-in and he slowly becomes more protective of her, although not always out of choice! KKH is perfect for this role (loved him in D.P.).
Choi Joon-kyung could be a pretty arrogant and annoying character, and whilst a part of me got why, her actions in relation to someone parasitised, I found unforgiveable, considering their identity. I found her very hard to like or empathise with.
A good supporting cast, with familiar faces and no obvious over acting.
I didn't find the look of the Aliens to be scary at all, in fact I found them pretty odd really. I'd love to know exactly where they came from. Their view of us humans is basically as food and a 'home'; fair enough ~ as the apex predator on our planet, we're actually no different in our behaviour towards pretty much all other species. I can only imagine what designs some would have on inferior life forms, if we ever found any from another world.
There are some twists in the story and it's pretty thrilling at times, but not strong on tension.
The close of S1 is actually pretty neat, so whilst it would be disappointing if no S2 was to follow, the story would still have been a decent viewing in itself.
Kept me glued and I wanted more; so, worth watching and I'm hoping for a S2, when hopefully more will be revealed.

i was not disappointed in the SLIGHTEST
as someone who watched the anime, i was RLLY worried that this would be another bad live adaptation. BUT OH BOY WAS I WRONG. but also i should've expected it bc its going from manga to krama, not manga/manhwa to anime and/or live action. i could rant abt this for so long, i literally did a presentation abt the nuances of media translation from manga/manhwa to anime and how the korean and japanese entertainment environments differ and yadda yadda yadda... but you get the point.concept: loved it. again- i did watch the anime so i kinda knew what i was getting into, but i'm glad that they took it in a diff direction. i was also scared bc i thought they would pull a solo leveling where everyone was "kim-san" and "park-san" or that they would rename at random, but bc of the diff direction, i did not have to worry abt that.
execution: great. amazing. also- rlly good cgi. so glad it didn't turn out like the japanese live action.
pacing: great. no complaints. no bumps or slowdowns, yet not repetitive either.

✒Homo Gestalt 〰❇〰 Thwarted Takeover °6.9° °Good°
Homo Gestalt - goog it, and you'll get the following response: “In the novel, More Than Human, homo gestalt is a mature gestalt consciousness that is considered the next step in human evolution. The novel is about six people with extraordinary powers who are able to "blesh" their abilities together, acting as one organism.” That's similar to what we see in PTG.It is a 2024 release, rated 91 on AWiki & 100/81 on RT, and consisting of 1 season of 6 60-minute brain-eating episodes. It's based on the anime, Parasyte the Maxim-8.9, which is based on the manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki. The anime is just so good. I saw it on Hidive via Prime, which is a mere $5/mo. Per Justwatch, it's currently on Hulu/Disney and Crunchyroll, which recently took over Funimation. I'm an Asian programming junkie, so I can say with authority that there's better shows out there. This is still quite good, and it's entirely watchable. It is just lacking in the high EQ, or emotional quotient that the best Kdramas have. It pales next to Kingdom-8.3, Sweet Home-8.4, The Cursed-8.3, The Wailing-8.8… I could (and probably will) go on. I strongly recommend checking out the anime first for a solid footing on the landscape, here.
Jeon So-nee (Our Blooming Youth, Soulmate) plays Jeong Su-in. When her mom left, her father took his anger out on her. As a tween, she finally called the police on him. Kwon Hae-hyo (Flex X Cop-8.5, Forecasting Love and Weather-6.8) plays Ofr Kim Chul-min. They've shared a bond ever since that day. Su-in believes she was just born rotten to suffer such ill treatment. Koo Kyo-hwan (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, DP-8.4) portrays Seol Kang-woo. This guy is special. He has that “it” factor, and IT has nothing to do with looks.
Lee Jung-hyun (Legend of Ambition, The Admiral: Roaring Currents) portrays Choi Jun-kyung who is one of the government leads charged with handling this scourge of parasitic beings with a high protein diet. She's alittle extra. As the show went on, I thought she dragged it down a touch. She's better in the later episodes. I really thought her gloves were going to come off and reveal some secret, but alas, they're just wardrobe props.
Kim In-kwon (The King's Affection-8.3, Mr. Queen-9) is Kang Won-seok, Ofr Kim's junior. Jeon Hui-jeong (Boyhood) is the voice of The Grey Agent. Yoon Hyun-gil (Yumi's Cells, One Dollar Lawyer) portrays Seol Kyeong-hee, sister to our ML but not anymore - she's been taken over. The actress is fantastic in her stoicism. Lee Hyun-kyun (The Guest, Flower of Evil-8.9) plays a parasite leader, Kwon Hyeok-joo. Screenwriter & Director, Yeon Sang Ho (Kcountry's Stephen King who brought us The Cursed-8.3 & Hellbound-5.5 - both w/ S2 in the works, Train to Busan-7.8, & Psychokinesis) converted this manga to Kanga along with the help of screenwriter, Ryu Yong Jae (Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area).
Courage. Overcoming fear. In the face of an alien invasion, which is what this is, fear takes over and people just want to kill. Rationality gets tossed out. Maintaining the balance of rationality and compassion is the theme. We see duplicitous humans: The police force has a quisling. As always, the politicians are looking out for the people. (No music festival?! The mayor will be running for president! This is his last big event as mayor!! No matter what threat there is, we /have to/ have it❗). The parasytes take on more complexity as they incorporate themselves into our world. “Do you remember the command given to us at birth? Take over a human brain. I believe that means more than take over the brain physically, but to take over the great, living human organization.” Dang. The fake pastor actually sounds like a theologian.
The theme music for the opening credits is boss. The action is killer. The effects are impressive. PTG is good, but it's far from the best K-action thriller I've seen. Episodes 4&5 drag slightly, but ep6 is really good. Perhaps it's a whiff of big budget disease. Big budgets blunt the beating hearts of too many features.
I love the callout to the anime at the end. That's the most important factor. If you've seen and liked the anime, PTG is almost mandatory. If you like action/zombie/alien thrillers, this is easily in the top half of them. If you aren't used to Kdramas, which will only raise your standards over time, don't be scared - you'll definitely gobble it up.

it is okayish...nothing more nothing less
The drama was captivating, so I watched it in two days. Luckily, it is only six episodes. It's a nice concept that has been well-executed. I could not help but feel that sometimes the fighting scenes with the parasites seemed funny. I liked the ML and FL; they were a good team. The policewoman can be sometimes quite annoying, but she comes around at last.I didn't see the magma, but the story makes sense without that knowledge. Overall, it is a good watch if you have spare time, but nothing special.

When Parasyte Blend Into Human Society
The story is about an invasion of Parasyte that got into the human brain and has one main objective which is to kill humans and take over the world. But one of the parasite failed to eat the human brain because the host body was injured os bad. It turn out to become of the variant that have 2 personalities which is human and parasyte in one body. That's where the story become interesting. Was this review helpful to you?
