Tangerines generally taste sweet and slightly sour, with a hint of bitterness. That’s how this show tries to capture what life is as common people. Life is full up and down, sometimes your life is prosperous, sometimes you got big problems and some external situations that you can’t control in life which affect the life of people in that time. What matters more is our reaction and our relationship with people who matter to us the most, which is our families and close friends. Just like how my brother said: “that’s life!”

The show is talking about the life of 3 women in a span of 80 years. From grandmother, mother and daughter until the grandchildren appears in their life. Mainly talking about this ae sun’s character. Her life is full pf challenges but she is lucky to have someone who loves her dearly since childhood. She is also lucky to have a mother who loved her so much with her own way. The villagers also helped her during tough times in their own way too. Here, we see that there are many different characters of human who can change, who we think are not sweet initially but turn out they are sweet in their own way. They also help ae sun with their own way.

The most important thing is ae sun and gwang sik’s character, how tough they are, despite life can turn out to be bitter, but their love outshines the bad situation. They defend each other. They know who they are, so they act according to their strength to overcome many situations. Their character that makes people respect and help them especially gwang sik’s kindness, his kindness always comes back to pay him later on. It shows and teaches people that you need to be gracious no matter what your situation is. Their act of kindness even save their daughter in the future. How amazing this story to let us see that karma is working. Some people become unhappy and not peaceful because of bad things they do. Meanwhile people who are kind will always get respected and treated good especially by their families.

The show is also showing family relationship dynamic, even an act of kindness can hurt the one we love. It shows that there are many misunderstandings even in the family. So we have to communicate and talk honestly with each other even though it hurts but it will heal us instead of not communicating can just burry problems in heart.

There are no fillers in the show, every episode and scene has its own meaning. This series also shows another lesson that different era has different difficulties, people have different thoughts because of the way they were raised. Their background, their education, family’s expectation etc. it’s so worth it. You won’t regret watching this. It has raised another standard in kdrama. Bravo to the writers.

a beautiful & comforting coming of age drama

Furthermore, it explores the beauty of romantic love, where two people can face the world together, no matter the challenges. These are just a few of the many themes tackled in the first four episodes alone.

What makes this drama truly exceptional is its relatability, coupled with outstanding dialogue and performances by the actors. The cast's acting is so compelling that even in moments of silence, their expressions speak volumes. The art production is also noteworthy. They basically built a while town with all the small details making the drama feel more authentic. Can’t wait for Volume 2!

One of the very best kdramas out there.

A highly carefully detailed production, exceptional script and an excellent acting make the perfect recipe to any show. And this one has it all. The story makes you want to keep watching. I had the same feelings I had watching Reply 1988. Nostalgia for a past I didn't even live or knew in some ways(since I am not South Korean) and familiar with it in others. Like when popular movies of that time where mentioned. The whole cast was on point. The script simply beautiful and the production the best. This show is more like an artistic masterpiece. Even the intro was beautiful.

It wasn't what i expected.

I was expecting a cute K-drama focused on the love story of the main characters and how they gradually develop feelings for each other, but since it’s produced by Netflix, I expected it to be a little different — just not this different.

Like, what I wanted was to see more of their childhood, how their feelings slowly grow for each other, and maybe see them kiss only around episode 9 and then start a relationship. But after the first four episodes, they already had a child!

The story is good, and the actors did an AMAZING job, but they focused too much on the secondary characters, and in the second half they even changed the actors playing the main characters. Like, I get it — but I still wanted to see more of just the two of them.

"When Life Gives You Tangerines" is really a good drama worth watching!
Whether it is the plot, shooting techniques, actors' acting skills or the handling of various details, it is hard not to be involved in it.
When it comes to the plot, the female writer will delicately portray the characters, love, family, friendship, and each line is particularly touching.
Sometimes we complain that our parents have different ideas from us, but in fact, the reason why we can freely choose our own life direction and live the life we want is because of the efforts of the previous generation and even the generation before that.

It's a comfort kdrama

Honestly, everything about this drama is masterpiece, i have already watched the 4 episodes and yes, i'm crying, it's so touching because i can relate to ae-sun so much, the feelings of not having anyone, losing parents (in my case dad), especially i couldn't handle when it comes to mom, my heart is just too weak, this story is not just about love and silly romance, but there's lot of moral story you can take and learn.

I actively promoting this to all of my friends, because i don't like suffering alone :p please give this a chance if you hesitant, even the cinematography it's the best, it can give you that nostalgic, calming, the familiar feelings within yourself.

Would i rewatch it over and over? Does it deserve and has the worth to be rewatch? Yes i would and yes it does, even now, only 4 episodes but i'm still stuck rewatching it again and again, and honestly, this is my favorite so far, usually it's hard for me to finished a drama because sometimes i just give them 10 seconds to decide if it's all worth it for my time or not, and usually i would drop them in the middle of episode one. I love this, is 3 words aren't enough to say it?

Intersting but..

!!!!! IDC WHAT U THINK THIS IS MY OPINION.!!!!!
At first like all people its very intersting, left me teary every single seconde, screaming of cuteness and all.
But the moment we get to know that they finish together, idk why, the motivation i had went away. Maybe the fact i was relivied that they will end up together made me like this but idk well. Iam not saying its bad. But i kinda dropped this. It was like "when the phone rings" at first all were screaming for the 10 first episode but when the ml learn that 406 is his wife most of us dropped it. Its like this idk. Directors need to understand that the plot needs to be long and make us want to know what comes next. This is what keep me wanting to watch and having that motivation to continue.

cómo le doy un 11 a esta serie?

Es simplemente perfecta, es uno de la mejores del 2025, la historia está muy bien construida, los tiempos están muy bien organizandos. Hay series en las cuales recapitulan hechos del pasado y no lo saben ordenar correctamente y eso te hace perder el hilo de la historia, pero en cambio en esta serie todos esos tiempos están muy bien organizandos, se entiende la perfección y eso hace que quieras y quieras seguir viendo los capítulos de esta serie.
No es aburrida, te mantiene atrapada en la trama.
En esta serie no hay triángulos amorosos o villanos, como en otras series, es algo totalmente diferente a lo que hemos visto. Está serie trata de la vida. La serie te hace reflexionar mucho, porque te das cuenta cómo es que los papás hacen todo por sus hijos y siempre están ahí para ti.
Las actuaciones de IU Y Park Bo Gum fueron increíbles, el sentimiento que causa al verlos llorado es impresionante de verdad, aparte de que los demás personajes tienen una muy buena actuación, escogieron un muy buen elenco.
En esta serie todo es perfecto, nada te disgusta, esta serie es la mejor que he visto en mucho tiempo. De verdad que esta serie ha sido la mejor en este año.

Se a vida te der tangerinas

Eu não tenho palavras pra descrever todos os sentimentos que tive ao ver esse kdrama. Eu sabia desde o primeiro trailer que ele iria me conquistar profundamente. As produções asiáticas sobre a vida tendem a ser as mais marcantes.

O que me deixa mais feliz é saber que o alcance desse kdrama foi absurdo. Não acho que outra produção em 2025 consiga fazer o que fizeram em Se a Vida Te Der Tangerinas. Lembro que quando saiu o pôster, a sinopse e até o trailer, muitos disseram que não iam assistir porque achavam o casal sem graça ou a história muito simples.

Pensei que esse ia ser daqueles meus doramas confortos com mais 5 fãs, já que realmente as produções originais da netflix que mais estouram a bolha são comédias românticas bobinhas, com exceção de round 6. Mas aí tive uma linda surpresa ao ver o quanto o streaming acertou nos 4 atos e essa história cativou um público maior.

Primeiramente, que elenco incrível. Desde a escolha dos mais novos até os adultos. A essência da Aesun e do Gwansik não se perdeu em nenhuma estação do ano e muito menos nas diferentes épocas. É lindo e raro ver o crescimento de personagens diante dos seus olhos. Geralmente é estranho ver a troca de atores - senti isso, por exemplo, em reply 1988 com a versão adulta dos protagonistas sendo completamente nada a ver com eles mais jovens - mas no kdrama das tangerinas os atores principais apenas se tornaram mais maduros, mas o olhar, o jeito de falar, entre tantos outros detalhes permaneceram ali.

A escolha da IU para ser a Aesun e também a sua filha foi um dos tantos acertos nesse dorama. Mesmo sendo interpretada pela mesma pessoa e possuindo semelhanças hereditárias na genialidade, você conseguia sentir a diferença entre as duas. Principalmente pela questão geracional, pela criação e por se tratarem realmente de indivíduos diferentes.

Um dorama sobre a vida que mostrou a camada de como pais e filhos são parecidos e diferentes ao mesmo tempo. A realidade escancarada de uma família pobre que quer sempre o melhor pros seus filhos.

Vi na Aesun a minha mãe e a minha avó. Pensei nelas porque a Aesun é o retrato de todas as mães que um dia foram filhas, órfãs e mães. O detalhe mais lindo do processo de desenvolvimento do enredo foi mostrar que o tempo todo era sobre a Aesun. A história que estava sendo contada, as dificuldades, as perdas, os diálogos, às mudanças de estação, todas tinham uma protagonista em destaque: Aesun.

Foi emocionante acompanhar a jornada dessa mulher, mais lindo ainda ver a relação que ela tinha com a mãe e o papel que ela desempenhou pelo bem dos filhos e o fato de ter sido a frente do seu tempo, mas que, infelizmente pela realidade vivida não pôde alcançar vôos mais altos enquanto ainda era jovem e queria muito isso. Mas ainda com as limitações de ser pobre e de ser mulher, a Aesun nunca perdeu a sua essência, nunca parou de sorrir e também nunca ficou parada no mesmo lugar. Ela foi tudo o que podia ser.

E que marido é esse? O Gwansik não era apenas um green flag, ele era aquele campo de flores inteiro. Aquele campo bonito em Jeju onde dois jovens partilharam seus sentimentos de maneira tão apaixonada e emotiva. Eu amei demais o Gwansik e o ótimo marido que ele foi pra Aesun, e o pai batalhador pros seus filhos. Firme e forte, o coração de ferro. Mas que ainda assim, era gentil e sensível, mais derretido que uma manteiga e um doce de pessoa.

Se a Vida Te Der Tangerinas entrou para o meu top 3 de doramas favoritos da vida, foi lindo e emocionante acompanhar todas as estações.

Il titolo "Quando la vita ti dà i mandarini" è una rivisitazione ponderata del noto detto "Quando la vita ti dà limoni, fai una limonata", ma con un significato più profondo e sfumato. A differenza dei limoni, i mandarini sono naturalmente dolci, eppure portano con sé un pizzico di asprezza, proprio come la vita stessa.
La storia cattura splendidamente questo equilibrio, mostrando come gioia e difficoltà spesso si intreccino e come anche i momenti più dolci possano contenere tracce di dolore. In questo modo, l'autore ci ricorda che la vita non consiste solo nel sopportare l'amaro, ma nell'imparare ad assaporare il dolce-amaro, abbracciando sia le gioie che le difficoltà che plasmano il nostro cammino.
Un drama che parla di vita in tutti i suoi aspetti peculiari e speculari che tocca infiniti punti:
- dinamiche famigliari (tra generazioni diverse, tra figli e genitori, tra fratelli)
-gestione della maternità;
- gestione dei rapporti sentimentali;
- dinamiche relazionali

- la vita e i valori delle Haenyeo dell'isola di Jeju;
- il ruolo della donna
- sogni e capacità di autodeterminazione.
Questo drama delicato, profondo e intimista parla di tutto questo ma senza mai cadere di tono o risultare lento e dispersivo.
È una di quelle storie che non finisce con la fine dello show, ti lascia molte riflessioni sulla vita, sui rapporti, sul senso del nostro viaggio sulla terra e recupera l'essenziale dell'esistenza umana: i rapporti umani.
Questa non è semplicemente una narrazione sentimentale (anche): esplora la resilienza, la lotta per la sopravvivenza e quel tipo di amore silenzioso ma profondo, radicato e incrollabile.
Il dramma non cade nel tentativo di voler impressionare, non forza sentimentalismi eppure nel suo tentativo sempre centrato di catturare la fatica del vivere ti avvolge e ti avvince.
Il fuoco degli attimi fugaci che ci spingono avanti. Il calore dell'amore che ti sostiene nel modo giusto, avvolgendoti come un ricordo d'infanzia. I dettagli inosservati e banali della vita quotidiana – il silenzioso fruscio del mattino, lo sguardo commosso di una persona cara, il peso di una parola non detta – erano tutti dipinti con una tale tenerezza da diventare luminosi.
Il loro amore è tenero e concreto: dall’imbarazzato primo bacio al sostegno reciproco di fronte alle sfide della vita, la loro relazione incarna tutto ciò che ci auspichiamo di trovare. I nostri due protagonisti, così sfortunati e messi duramente alla prova dalla vita ma così fortunati nell'essersi trovati in questo viaggio solitario che ognuno di noi compie nel momento in cui viene al mondo.
Quella tra i protagonisti è una relazione genuina, ed è proprio questa autenticità a conferire senso al loro legame. La loro connessione va oltre il tempo e si percepisce in ogni sguardo e in ogni attimo di serenità condiviso. La scena in cui Gwan Sik si tuffa nelle acque tempestose per raggiungere Ae Sun resterà per sempre impressa nella mia memoria. Non si tratta solo di amore, ma di sacrificio e di ciò che le persone sono pronte a fare per coloro a cui tengono.

C'è anche l’amore materno che si rivela sia straziante che magnifico. La relazione tra Gwang Rye e Ae Sun è un esempio lampante di dedizione. Il sacrificio che Gwang Rye fa per la propria figlia, il lavoro instancabile come Haenyeo, tutto per risparmiare ad Ae Sun una vita di fatiche, dimostra fino a che punto una madre è disposta a spingersi per i propri figli. Questa è una rappresentazione complessa della maternità e di come il trauma generazionale possa influenzare il nostro modo di vivere. Il percorso di Ae Sun , i compromessi a cui dovrà scendere, i pregiudizi che dovrà affrontare evidenziano il conflitto tra il desiderio di liberarsi dalle aspettative e la dura realtà da affrontare.

La serie si sofferma anche sulle dinamiche sociali e sui ruoli di genere che gravano sulle donne, un aspetto che mi ha colpito profondamente. La pressione che spesso le donne subiscono per corrispondere al ruolo che riserva loro la società, in una società posizionale come la Corea, e di come il mondo intorno a loro condiziona e mortifica le loro scelte, è un tema che "When Life Gives You Tangerines" affronta approfonditamente. Il personaggio di Ae Sun rappresenta una forma di ribellione contestualizzata agli anni in cui vive: aveva sogni e ambizioni, ma la vita non le ha sempre concesso l’opportunità di realizzarli, se non tardivamente, in modo da condividere il traguardo con l'uomo della sua vita, con la sua PERSONA.
Desiderava diventare poetessa, ma il contesto in cui viveva le riservava altre sfide da affrontare. Quella tensione tra seguire il cuore e fare ciò che è necessario per sopravvivere viene portata in scena in modo eccellente.

È una storia anche sulla rottura di cicli di trauma e sulla costruzione della propria vita secondo le proprie convinzioni. Una delle scene più significative è quella in cui Gwan Sik, seduto al tavolo con madre e nonna, osserva la sua famiglia seduta nel tavolo dietro e decide di unirsi a loro per mangiare. È un gesto semplice, ma carico di significato. Sceglie la sua famiglia al di sopra delle tradizioni e delle aspettative. E quel momento in cui porge i fagioli a sua figlia è un gesto che rivela molto sul tipo di padre che è ! Gwan Sik ha insegnato a Geum Myeong cosa significhi essere un padre, un marito e un uomo di valore. Non si tratta di gesti grandiosi ma di atti quotidiani di cura , carichi di amore, che definiscono il nostro valore.

Per me che abito su un isola è stato emozionante vedere rappresentato il rapporto tutto particolare che noi popoli di mare intratteniamo con questo elemento, solo il mare perdona i nostri inverni. Un elemento che ti dà nutrimento ma che capricciosamente può toglierti tutto, silenzioso ma in grado di ruggire furiosamente.
La protagonista intrattiene col madre un rapporto ambivalente: dapprima lo detesta, lo vede come barriera che la isola dal mondo e le porta via le attenzioni materne e successivamente la madre, poi un altra figura significativa, non riesce neanche a guardarlo, le dà la nausea dal dolore per il bisogno che continua a legarla, dal momento che il sostentamento suo e della famiglia viene dalla pesca. Infine il perdono e la ricerca della madre, una volta anziana, affidando i suoi lamenti e i suoi richiami al mare, di cui pensa faccia ormai parte la madre.
Il rapporto col mare delle haenyeo, riconosciute dall'UNESCO come Patrimonio Immateriale dell'Umanità (a motivo della loro importanza nella cultura tradizionale per le loro pratiche e tecniche tramandate), che dettagliano e spiegano ogni vicenda, illustrando valori quali riconoscenza, gratitudine, supporto, mutuo aiuto, difesa, affettuosa comprensione.
Oltre alla trama ricca e sfaccettata il cast offre anche ottime interpretazioni . IU interpreta il doppio ruolo di Ae-sun e di sua figlia Geum-myeong, mostrando una buona versatilità interpretativa di personaggi diversi che vivono in epoche diverse. Il livello di recitazione è davvero ottimo da parte di ogni attore, il cast è stato davvero curatissimo. Ogni attore ha dato il proprio massimo e le loro performance sono state così convincenti e intense che è impossibile non rimanerne coinvolti. La capacità del cast secondario di arricchire il contesto circostante eleva l'intera narrazione.

Il regista Kim Won-seok, noto per la sua narrazione ricca di sfumature, ha descritto il drama sia come "un omaggio alle generazioni di nonne, nonni, padri e madri che hanno vissuto intensamente, sia come un canto di incoraggiamento per le figlie e i figli che affronteranno il mondo a venire". "When Life Gives You Tangerines" è proprio questo: una serie che rende omaggio e incoraggia gli spettatori mentre affrontano la vita.

Anche la fotografia gioca un ruolo cruciale, rendendo questo drama poetico e di UNA BELLEZZA STRUGGENTE. Ogni inquadratura HA un significato profondo e il modo in cui le immagini si legano alla storia, con una musica sempre calzante (86 brani diversi) è semplicemente straordinario.
Tutto è curato in questo lavoro, ogni sequenza è studiata sotto ogni punto di vista, questo è un lavoro che rimanda continuamente alle stagioni come metafore dei periodi della vita:
"…pensavo che la vita andasse dalla primavera all’estate, all’autunno e poi all’inverno, ma mi sbagliavo. A volte sembra inverno, a volte primavera. Ho avuto miriadi di giorni primaverili. Ho avuto molti momenti scintillanti".


"When Life Gives You Tangerines" non è solo un dramma da guardare; è un'esperienza da vivere. Ti penetra dentro, ti trasforma e ti porta a riflettere sui personaggi anche molto tempo dopo la visione dell’ultimo episodio. È così splendidamente costruito che sembra andare oltre una semplice storia. È un'esperienza indimenticabile di resilienza.
"La vita continua per i vivi". - Yang Geum Myeong. Una verità semplice ma profonda che "Quando la vita ti dà i mandarini" incarna così bene. Non importa quali siano le perdite, il dolore o le strade non intraprese, la vita continua, spingendoci ad andare avanti, ad apprezzare ciò che rimane e ad abbracciare il viaggio che ci attende.
Trascendendo i confini culturali, questa è forse la serie più coreana ma universalmente riconoscibile, che ritrae le vite e gli amori dei personaggi dagli anni '60 ai giorni nostri in Corea in un modo che suscita riflessioni profonde.
