Started great then it fizzled
I was excited to watch this mini drama after seeing it featured in a few top mini drama lists on YouTube. The drama started off great but then it fell flat.What I like:
1. Intriguing start - The 1st 3 episodes were intriguing. I was delighted to see a "smart" female lead who managed to escape from interrogation. I was also pleasantly surprised with the bed scene. Cunning!
2. Right hand man - General Liu was the smartest character out of the bunch.
3. Dai Gao Zheng - A lot of reviewers mentioned him so yes, I agree. He has good looks & body. Acting wise, he's ok.
What I dislike:
1. Female lead characterisation - I mentioned earlier she was "smart" but my gosh she became unbearably silly as the series progressed. I can't get over her decision to pursue Tian yi when she already willingly agreed to become Yu Ze's fiancee. What a silly girl!
2. Writing - was bad. I almost stopped at episode 19 but persisted because there is fast forward button. I chose 4x option just to make sure I complete this mini drama. I think the episodes could be reduced to 24 or even 18. The conflict was dragged too much.
3. Ending - omg what a silly one. How can a stupid, cowardly girl become menacing to gangsters? And that very last scene I really don't understand
4. Physical abuse - You experienced and witnessed beatings but omg why stay in abusive household???
5. Chemistry between main characters - to me, lackluster.
6. Fashion - I dislike the clothes worn by Tiangyou, female lead. Pink dresses made her look childish and with her characterisation, she was indeed a baby. The last qipao she wore had weird colour combination and doesn't look nice.
Favourite scene:
The bed scene between Tian yi & Tian yao. As I said earlier, cunning!

Review
Th e drama was going really well hut in some scenes I thought of different conclusion but the scenes in the drama were totally different but the thing is that everything about this drama - I LOVEDBut why did the lead die in the end I cried my heart out I was broken by the scene that I was depressed for about 2-3 months
My bestie really regretted suggesting this drama to me but I was happy except that one heart shattering scene...
After this drama a knew drama with same main lead cast has been brought out NAME- "Forever Love 2023", please do watch that drama, at least that drama has happy ending.

A passionate love story
Short episodes, to the point story.. no beating around the bush with unnecessary conspiracy .... packed with spicy romance and drama ...what else can you ask for ... I thoroughly enjoyed the republican era setting. lead actors had funtastic chemistry ..they literally delivered the best of their characters ... Not going to reveal any spoilers but the kissing scene ... My god ...so passionate ... Ladies you gonna skip a beat on every kissing scene you have my words ... HeheTotally worth watching especially if you are into those romantic passionate novels.

Burning Love
Not sure if it was the male lead Fang Tian Yu's 'caveman' approach to love, ravaging the female lead Ting Yao right from the start of the drama OR the mystery behind Tian Yu's nephew Fang Yu Ze OR the scheming ways of Ting Yao's half sister Yan Er that kept me interested, but I surprisingly finished watching this drama. Filled with a tacky script and corny scenes, this 30 episodes of 10 minutes each show filled up 5 hours easily for me. One also cannot deny that the 'burning' love between Tian Yu and Ting Yao is one of the most consistent demeanor that kept audiences glued to this drama. If 'burning love' (driven initially by revenge) is your cup of tea, then you will enjoy this drama.Was this review helpful to you?
Steamy and Stupid
This was a drama of stupid actions interspersed with steamy slap-kiss scenes. If the main characters hadn't all been brainless, the drama would have been one episode long. Here's a survival tip: when in a dangerous situation, don't make out. I'm not even going to complain about lazy writing, because I don't think there was a script.I subtracted a star for stupidity and awarded a half star for attractive leads and off-the-chart chemistry. I'd be willing to watch them in something better written. Or written at all.

Yes abs. The ML really give that dominating vibe, such a hottie x. x now I want to know more about his other dramas. The other character seems ok. The thing about this drama is it really lead the viewers in a confused state after watching.The writer should've hinted more regarding Tianyi's situation rather than putting some contrast character in the ending. Viewers may think that 'is he dead? ' 'did he lose his memory after being hit? "
Yes something like that but hnmm. The drama took me long to finish even if it only has a couple of mins per episode compared to other dramas haha

A mini revenge series but without the mini's flaws
Watched on viki (mini, compacted in 8 ep.)Very catchy historical drama (although I don't like the FL very much :( ) but the ML is TOP (Dai Gao Zheng = hot and intense) and ML2 is absolutely hateful.
Plot: The FL finds refuge in the governor's mansion, after her entire family has been killed. Her half-sister has usurped her place as ML2's fiancée, so the FL enters as a maid in an attempt to get revenge (on the governor, whom she believes is behind the massacre).
A very short format, but without the flaws of minis. Lively production, fairly well-developed characters... but a sad ending (I would have liked to see the ML, suffering and injured throughout the drama, enjoying a bit of happiness).

Drama historique très accrocheur (bien que je n'aime pas beaucoup la FL :( ) mais le ML est TOP (Dai Gao Zheng = hot et intense) et le ML2 est détestable à souhait.
Plot : la FL trouve refuge dans la maison du gouverneur, après que toute sa famille ait été tuée. Sa demi-soeur a usurpé sa place de fiancée du ML2, le FL entre donc comme domestique dans le but de se venger (du gouverneur, dont elle pense qu'il est à l'origine du massacre).
Format très court, mais sans les défauts des mini. Réalisation vive, personnages assez bien développés... mais fin triste (j'aurai aimé voir le ML, souffrant et blessé pendant tout le drama, profiter d'un peu de bonheur).

Fictional toxicity
If you are one to look for morality in stories, this is definitely not for you.This is the typical violent manipulative Male leads with a female lead struggling to stay a float and romance attached in between.
However its done to perfectly suit the palate.
Because its a short drama there is very fast progress but its done with taste so no complaints.
Good acting.
Plus the characters are pleasing to the eye thus another bonus.
Surprisingly well done especially in costumes used relating to that particular period of time in comparison to big budget drama productions.
Anyway...i will be seated to watch how it all unfolds, though predictable, its just a way too good of a watch.

Is it the right time coming back to Cdramas?
The answer is probably YES. For me it's been years actually since I saw a new HD and not too old Chinese dramas. And so I'm so glad and grateful for seeing this drama in Onetouch.tv recommendation. It made my day.Mad love scenarios came back, masculine and ahem (STRIGHT) men with much more sauces than before. Stay tuned for more exclusive romance scenes.
Eventhough you had been disappointed before, give it a try and eventually you won't regret it.
The acting was on point, but one thing was so unpredictable had been added which is a heavy punishment that ended in episode 7. She had been beaten by men's with a belly...do you even know how painful it is.
Now I will do a research...

This drama will be loved by those who like the male lead (ML) that willing to do anything, directly ASAP do anything to safe to protect the female lead (FL). I don't hate it, thanks to some lakorn I saw, my mental endurance is stronger now. Though, in some scenes, I still unable to endure the FL's idiotic act. Don't get me wrong, I'm talking about the character, not any actors or actresses. Pictured you find your whole family is massacred, then when you find your father and has a change to talk to him. Suddenly, a group of police/government officers come to your house... normal people will think that these officers come to safe you. But this FL, think that they are the one who kill her family, lol. Not to mention her mother treasured her, won't let her get out from the house, until none of the people in the city have even see her. That's means, she supposed to be in the house to watch the killing.
Also the scene when she wants to search for some clues from ML's room, and she does it when he's asleep... while she can freely does it at noon while he's at work. She also said to the second male lead "the day my family massacred, I saw him barged into my house." They already dead when he come... not to mention you even more early than he is, my Dear.... with a group of officers too😭😭😭. The writer wants to create a miss understanding between the leads and wants the FL hate the ML... but the writer's idea is totally weird
The other part that not making sense, is when the ML make FL to shoot some villains... how can a man let a woman that he love get mental traumatize? This drama remind me with Falling in Love (same plot, same era), but the FL just too idiot compare to Mu Wan QIng who carefully planning her revenge. I hope the development in the future episode will be better
But, this is still watchable. What make it even more loveable for me is that it has 30 episodes with less than 12 minutes each. Totally worth your time to watch it

This was my 148. drama and I haven't seen anything this bad yet. By episode 8 I was already skipping about 90% of the story, that's how boring it was.Plot: 1,5

I didn't find anything to like about this drama. Actors were really bad at acting, the plot was uninteresting and lacked any logic, characters were shallow and their intelligence could be compared to those after lobotomy. There were too many annoying factors, that prevented me from enjoying this drama.

I wish I could tell how much I love this drama I watched like 100 of cdramas but this one is my fav how could a drama being so GOOD even though its contain dramatic scenes and kinnda 18 plus I say this is my go to dramas the ML hot as always you might know and FL lead she was super pretty but I didn't like the ending girls please note HE DIED AT THE END it broke me tears and btw i didn't like the fact this story contains RAPE so uhmmmm be careful and just as there relationship gets better he got killed LIKE DIRECTORS PLEASEE oh btw guys just to tell u they ML and Fl have 2 more dramas together FOREVER LOVE and RAINKISSEDFACE and don't worry FOREVER LOVE and RAINKISSEDFATE have good endings but STILLL enjoy watching and BE PREPARED CUZ U WILL BE OBSESSEDWas this review helpful to you?
