Since childhood, i have loved to watch shows where the chemistry between fl and ml is overwhelming.After a long time,i got to watch this series and guess what? The passionate feelings of the ml towards the fl is bounding me to rewatch the show again and again! The way Tianyi (ML) looks at Tingyao(FL) and kisses her make me want to do the same with someone i love haha...The exciting part is both ML and his nephew are obsessed with the FL which i feel kinda funny and interesting! 😁 I wish this series have a happy ending and I would love to see the lead actor and the lead actress to work together in more projects near future! I don't usually binge a show like this...but dayummmm
Is this a high score? Yes, yes it is...I'm a sucker for domineering macho men who are inherently good but a bad boy on the outside, so this was just something for me I guess.Was the FL stupid? Yes, she was. I was so annoyed by her idiocy but then again it works in this series but only because it wasn't a very long series. FL aside, the ML had is idiot moments as well. For the love of God just tell the truth 👀.
Would it have been a flop with a less attractive cast? Pro-bably. We must admit that they chose actors who are - let's be honest here- eye candy. I'm not complaining at all. I probably is the reason why I binged this series in one day. I was actually conflicted about my score because the actual story isn't that wow but the ML was just 🔥🔥🔥. I want to see him in a different role now...
Oh btw, I rewrote the ending in my head. The new recruit is just the ML in disguise. It's all an act for her safety...euh...of course.

Like a Practice Drama for new comers
I watched this after all the hype. Some people may like it but I fail to see anything of value in this drama. All the actors apart from the FL is amateurish and look like they’re yet to graduate from acting school. MLIs ok but still far from the normal actors we see on screen in terms of acting naturally.
Story wise there is not much to figure out. It’s like a story where you know exactly what happens because it has been used many times except that this is in fast forward mode.
Don’t waste your time even if you don’t know what to watch after a great drama. Be patient rather than wasting your 30 ep x 10 mins on this.
And I have heard comments that FL is voluptuous. I totally agree. Her body shape is non typical of any C drama actress … this is a plus for diversity. The only plus of this drama.

Let me explain.
No, wait-let me scream.
This show is what happens when you take “Enemies to Lovers”, “Tragic Past”, and “I’ll protect you by emotionally destroying you”, shove them into a corset, and throw them into a palace where logic goes to die.
And yet, I watched every minute. I was hooked. I cried. I cheered. I questioned my own standards.
Plot? Barely. Chaos? Constant.
The female lead came in hot, ready to avenge her dead family. Instead, she stumbled into a love triangle, some light espionage, multiple near death experiences, and a PhD in trusting the wrong people.She said, “I’m here for justice.”
The plot said, “You’re here for trauma and questionable smooches, babe.”
Male Lead: The Brooding Menace
He’s hot. He’s tragic. He’s allergic to communication.
If gaslighting had a body count and wore silk robes, it’d be him.He had receipts to arrest the villain and still said, “Let’s wait. For drama.”
Also, someone tell this man that “keeping her close” doesn’t mean “non-consensual touching every other scene.” Sir, this is a historical revenge drama, not a red-flag themed escape room.
Female Lead: The Chaotic Heroine With Main Character Syndrome
Girl, you had one job: lay low, investigate, survive.
Instead, she hosted a TED Talk on how to self-sabotage in 10 steps or less.I rooted for her and wanted to shake her violently, both things can be true.
Villain Nephew: Discount Tyrion With None of the Wit
He committed more crimes than I’ve filed taxes. And somehow? Still free.
Nepotism hits different when your uncle is too emotionally constipated to press charges.
Side Characters Were There, I Guess
•Miss Ji: Sold off like a plot device and deserved better.
•Grandma: Flipped loyalties like she was playing Uno in hell.
•Random Soldiers: “Oh no, five assassins dressed as cater waiters took the mansion again! Guess we’ll just die now.”
Was it problematic? Absolutely.Did I enjoy it? Also yes.
The last few episodes broke me. I cried. Not because it made sense, but because it made me feel.This isn’t a well-written show, it’s a fanfic with a budget, performed by people who act like the script was handed to them scene-by-scene in fortune cookies.
Thoughts While Watching:
•“If trauma was a currency, this couple would be billionaires.”
•“How is the villain still free? He blew his cover twice. In HD.”
•“Is there a sexy way to go to jail? Asking for the ML.”
•“This drama is what happens when vibes overpower logic and I’m not even mad.”
Final Verdict:
This drama isn’t good. It’s unhinged.And yet, I will defend it with the passion of a thousand crying FLs in slow motion.
Watch it. Hate it. Love it.
Then spiral in your group chat and wonder when your standards got this low.
Then watch it again.

Several times heard this drama, really interesting after 𝙈𝘿𝙇 𝙀𝙉𝘿 𝙊𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙔𝙀𝘼𝙍 𝘾𝙃𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙀𝙉𝙂𝙀 by Kate - guilty pleasure of 2022 & discussion on the feeds. Haha.... Never expected this to be short drama, so that's why I finally just jump to watch this drama in the end. Haha...Yeah you can say this some kind of trash for some people, but definitely quite good quick story for me. They have story to tell, have beginning & also end, and definitely have some abs to look at. Haha...
But unfortunately the story lack a little bit. The moment Dong Ting Yao fall in love to Fang Tian Yi is a little bit blur. It just like it a sudden move from hate to love. Yeah I know he saved her. That's maybe the trigger. But the feeling is not too clear. Maybe because this is only quick drama, if they have longer duration the feeling can elaborate more and more.
Well in the end this is just another quick & short drama to pass your time....

DON'T COME INTO THIS SHOW EXPECTING GREATNESS
This Chinese drama is mindless fun so I would advise you when watching this show please do not watch it expecting a amazing story telling and top tier acting it's full of cliches and that's what makes it fun, the first episode had me hooked and the two leads have immaculate chemistry, my only issue I guess would be the ending up other then that this is a good series if you want mindless fun, also the male lead is fine AF ( and I don't mean to sound like a broken clock but he and the female lead's chemistry is absolutely worth the watch if nothing else ). Now i love to watched Chinese drama wow the actors also excellent acting. I really love the stories the main lead actors dae is best kisser wow he is amazing actor really wow i admire his acting for me he the best Chinese actor so far i watched he is really excellent actor. FIRST SHORT DRAMA I'VE WATCHED AND GLUED TO IT
Good acting and good story lineBoth FL and ML are good actors. I have seen many of FL dramas mostly her as the main lead. This is the first time I watch ML and concurrently watching him on "Warm Time With You" . He is amazing there too! I have not watched who rules the world but am going to give it go since Dai Gao Zheng is in it!
Love how it is short and sweet and no unnecessary plots of distractions. So there is no boring scenes. It is frustrating though because it is short. Will watch again when the drama is complete.
It is worth your time... watch it!

Now let's be honest, over all the drama is a low budget drama, you can tell cause the actors be wearing the same clothes basically every episode. BUT let's me tell you something! DAI GAO ZHENG was a blessing to the eye. I'm not fond of short dramas and for the first time in my 15 years experience with dramas this is the first time i watch a short drama. The plot was not bad, had great potential if it was a full length drama. The music was amazinggg. Acting was acceptable but in my opinion the Main lead and the second main lead had great expressions, good acting, emotions in the right place. The second ml aka the villain was Soo good that when ever i see his face i get chills. He was good. But dai gao Zheng smoky looks were the winning card.Was this review helpful to you?

This is the best Republican Chinese genre that I've watched. The music/ osts really goes smoothly well with the drama. The actors and actresses knows how to act their role excellently. I was hoping for Feng Tianyi to survive in the end, didn't expect that he'd die. Although he died, I wasn't expecting Tingyao to be just like Feng Tianyi. It would be better if they atleast live together happily and rule to government, they didn't even had a child or get married at least. It's such a pessimistic and a depressing story, but I still love it. Oh my god. I have no idea whatsoever i am gonna do with my life now. "Maid`s Revenge" was such a thrilling, dark, enfuriating, addictive, smart and sexy epic romance that gave me everything i craved in this genre. Tingyao is a cute heroine with a wonderful character developement but it is the beautiful alpha warlord Male Hero Tian Yi that totally took my breath away with his stunning looks and acting. He was raw male power and oozed so much sex appeal i had to take my eyes off the screen sometimes because i had to FREAKING BREATH with how beautifully dangerous and sexy he was.
Gao Zheng did this character so well that i am stunned. His acting was so natural and fitting of this powerful character that execuded power, authority, strength and such sex appeal, but also showing his heart through his eyes. When he looked at his female heroine with such agony and longing i just wanted to cry. He is one of my favourite on-screen heroes. Never gonna get over him, just sayin.Ahh

Using my personal rating system of "loved," "liked," "meh," & "nah," this is a ”meh”.What I liked:
Despite the low budget, they did a decent job of settings and costuming; this was one of the few Republican-era dramas where I felt the costume designer did an okay job of historical accuracy with the Western clothing. They did not try to do things with their low budget that they couldn’t and kept to only three or four sets. I liked that though our FL seemed silly and naïve at first, she actually had a bit of steel running underneath, and it developed over the series. As shallow as this is, I also liked how nice both MLs looked. 😊 I hope to see both of them in more productions. Dai Gao Zheng did a good job of portraying a bad boy with a heart of gold and Vincent Wei did a good job of playing the opposite.
What I did not like so much:
There were some simple things that even a low-budget drama could have done better. For example, the way Fang Tian Yi’s subordinate handled his firearm, he would have accidentally shot himself and others a long time ago (e.g. reholster your gun before you carry your drunk or injured master around!). The scene when the ML shoots the guilty men could have been done better—I just don’t see that many people going so quietly and calmly to their death. I also would have liked to have had a better idea of how much time passed. For example, they implied that the FL had been the maid for the ML for quite some time, but they never give you an idea of how much time really had passed. I would have liked to have seen more of their interactions during that time. I know it was a mini-drama so a lot of detail just isn’t given, but it would have helped. I was not mad at the ending, either. I would have been fine with a happy ending, but I wasn’t mad at the sad one—which is strange since I usually prefer happy endings. I do not think the sad ending was necessary, but I liked that the FL took over the ML’s role as governor. I did not like how Granny was always happy to have a servant beaten to death but then we’re supposed to see her as a sympathetic character at the end. No thanks.

I did not find this drama to be a waste of time, but I don’t think I’ll watch it again.
