GMMTV actually did get it together nonetheless! They didn't have a SUUUPER rushed ending (granted they still picked up the pace), which is the problem with most GLs. They didn't confound the story with twenty other GL/BL couples! They got a good CP with EmiBonnie who acted very well, and sang AMAZINGLY. Finally, they didn't try to end the story w/ "ohh but this homophobic family member has been an ally for the entire series!!!"

The chemistry doesn't feel entirely forced as it does sometimes in other GLs, where they're like "get together and hope it works out!" No exaggerated romance basically, and it didn't feel like "hey! hopefully we get straight guys to watch this!" (as i say, as a straight man). However, I do feel the drama could have done a bit better with conflicts and interrelationship conflicts between EmiBonnie. Couples fight, let's be real. So for a lot of the story you're left asking "oh is this the fork in the road that causes a major conflict?" Then it ends with Bonnie being extraordinarily forgiving, to a surprising degree. Green flag I guess(?)

If you're looking for a series that fit the book though, this REAALLLLY wasn't it. Besides keeping some aspects of the original characters from the novel, and the names of the characters; literally nothing else was from the novel. Which I congratulate GMMTV for, because whenever they try to take most of the novels and implement it into the drama, eventually something essential gets left out and most of the time we're left wanting more, or feeling disappointed at the end. They avoid the unnecessary fluff and drama that the novel takes up and simplify all the characters.

I will say towards the end, you definitely feel the pace of the series pick up, it goes from "ohh we're just flirting, and SLIGHTLY hinting we're interested in each other, and that take an ENTIREEEE episode." to "Oh, shit. Shit hits the fan!" My main criticism with 23.5 was that there were too many other CPs that had took up a bulk of the story from MilkLove, but I'd say with ViewMim, they could have had slightly more development than just View being a hopeless romantic haha, but I digress. I'd also like to say, THANK GOD the way they dealt with Khem. You know he's a terrible father, and person in general, and you REALLY hope that unlike most GLs, they won't wrap him up in a little bow and say "He's GREAT!" Nah. He gets divorced, his family is destroy b/c of his actions, and you're left feeling great that he's gone from Rak's life.

To conclude, so far, the best GL that GMMTV has produced, and I hope they produce some high quality ones in the future.

Could Have Been Better, Was Disappointing!

“Us The Series” had a lot of missed potential.

Normally, when I write a review, I begin by writing the basic plot of the show, following which I discuss what I liked about it, and what could have been different.

For Us, though, it feels more appropriate to write two plots instead, what I expected the show to be going in, what every trailer had led me to believe it was going to be, and what it actually was.

Both the original teaser, which immediately set this show apart for me because of how soft and romantic yet angsty it felt, with perfectly complementary cinematography, and the trailer that was released just before the show began, set it out to be something completely different than what it was.

I can understand not wanting to reveal major plot twists in the trailer itself, but there is a fine line between misleading viewers for the sake of a twist that pays off, and false advertising.

One of the heartwarming GL’s I’ve ever watched

It’s not too dramatic, not too inclined towards the tropes most people would expect to watch, but US is ours, and if you’re someone that find themselves rewatching this series, then you have good taste. US shows us that a series can be good without too much love conflict, US shows us that not all stories revolves around only the relationship between the two main characters. This show is homey, if I would have to put it in a word because every scene doesn’t stray away too much from what people experience in real life.

I thank whoever it is that casted Emi and Bonnie for US, because I don’t think anyone could’ve portrayed Pam and Dokrak the way they did. Pam and Dokrak were meant for Emi and Bonnie and I’m glad that it happened. I’m thankful that P’Fon is the director for this because she’s very meticulous with every series that she works on, and it truly shows with how beautiful, how intricate this show is.

The music choice is top-notch, I don’t think I can ever rewire my brain not to think about Pam and Dokrak whenever I would hear that music they played when Pam kissed Dokrak. I don’t think I could ever live a day without playing Emi’s song on repeat at least 5 times and Bonnie’s song just speaks of everything that Dokrak felt for Pam up until they’ve confessed to each other.

If you’re someone that’s trying to find a thrilling GL series, something with too much spiciness and just drama and drama and making up, this isn’t for you. But if you’re brave enough to go past through your ‘expectations’ and watch US with all the understanding and none of your ‘types’ or ‘categories’, then try. Then you’d see why US isn’t for everyone else’s but ours. Might become yours too.

first of all, gmmtv totally changed the plot from the novel and kept the main plot and the name only, and that's the best decision they made. this is the best gl from gmmtv so far. one of the best from gmmtv in general as well. this is top notch. this show is nearly perfect. the script writer deserves a raise. the cinematography is so mesmerizingly beautiful. the first few episode might feel a bit boring and slow paced, but it slowly dives into the plot and gets you hooked. every character in this series has a personality, this series is the closest to how real life is. no unrealistic plot. what i love the most about this is, this show didn't include the "mandatory" episode 11 break up, and getting back together out of the blue after a huge time skip with one episode left. another thing i love is, how they stick together till the very end, never doubted their partner, always communicated, how rak instantly snapped back when nene tried to stir things between her and pam. their bonding is too strong to get tackled that easily. the build up was so good. this show doesn't only focus on the main couple and add up unrealistic and unnecessary drama, it shows the difference between both pam and rak's family. the ending was so sad yet felt so heartwarming. the grandma was so adorable and memorable. this show is a lot more than two people falling in love, getting together and happy ending forever. it's more about dealing with toxic family members, dealisng with family issues, living a hard life while still being in a supportive and healthy relationship. i love how each character finally got their inner peace at the end. this deserves a lot more recognisation and a higher rating. i hope gmmtv takes their gl's seriously and keep up the good work. overall, 10/10. also, just my opinion, us -> 23.5 -> pluto.

GREAT OST AND AMAZING CHEMISTRY

An amazing story with great chemistry between Emi and Bonnie! The visuals and scenery was phenomenal and the OSTs are so good with the main lead's voices. The story line is sad but not depressing. The director did a good job with balancing the sadness in the story with good and easy going moments as well. Each character contributed to the drama's and none of them were dull or annoying to watch (Well maybe except for Dokrak's toxic father). I especially loved all the dialogues and sweet moments between Pam and Dokrak). Overall Us the Series is a 10 out of 10 for me! I loved it!!!!
