A timeless masterpiece that transcends time
반짝이는 워터멜론TLDR: stop reading this and go watch, now.
Oh My goodness, this series has left me absolutely speechless and how.
I honestly don't think I can form the words to explain how much I loved this drama, but I will try because I am so glad that I gave it a chance. Each character was written exceptionally, and every actor did full justice to the assignment they received.
But the absolute stars of the show are without any doubts Ryeoun and Choi Hyun Wook, who play Eun Gyeol and Lee Chan as though that's who they actually are. I definitely was looking forward to see Choi Hyun-Wook's work after 25-21, but this kid has outdone himself. His character was so lovable and admirable in being enduring, charming, mature and youthful all at the same time! This was the first time I've seen any of Ryeoun's work and I am impressed. He was the worshipping son of Lee Chan through and through, who only wants the best for his mum and dad, and rightfully so.
What amazed me the most, though, was how three young characters still managed to strike off a parent and child chemistry?!?! It was probably a combination of marvel acting and character descriptions written with absolute perfection.
It very rarely happens that a drama doesn't have a single dull moment, and this show was one of those epic gems. I did not lose grip of the story for a single second. The actual premise of the plot is probably what did it for me - it was so beautiful: children often lose perspective of the fact that their parents were young once too and had their own hopes and dreams. The ability for us to see that perspective through the eyes of a child in this drama is beyond astounding.
The musical backdrop of the show only adds to the beauty and charm of it, and this one has made it to my all time favourite dramas up there with the likes of Reply 1988 and My beloved summer.
What left me gobsmacked about the drama was that it left us with the same desperation as Eun Gyeol to turn everything right for his parents, and I'd be surprised if there was a single person who didn't shed a shed a tear at the end of episode 15 - I was absolutely devastated 💔
But at the end of the day the narrative tied back to the reality that it often isn't the big things in life that change the course of our path, but rather the smallest of things that can completely alter our tracks.
This show will forever have a high rewatch value for me: with characters you will fall in love with, an OST that translates all emotions felt throughout the story into melody eloquently, and a plot that will leave you as immersed as the characters on screen, Twinkling Watermelon is without a doubt, a solid 10 for me. ✨️🫰🏼🍉💙

When life gives you lemons make a band with it😂 maybe all will be fine💕
A healing drama containing all the elements you will need to brighten up your life. You will feel happy, you will feel sad, you will sometimes laugh, or you will just sometimes watch the screen and be like how can everyone in this drama be so cute and then get hit back to reality a moment later realizing they aren't real people and this is just a drama (this is the only sad part). The cutest part of this drama is Yi Chan and Cheong Ah, both as a couple and as an individual are written and acted so well that you will start loving them both right from the start and till the end.The basis of the story is about not giving up on yourself even if everything seems to be breaking apart and you find yourself destined to fall. Another great message is that no one other than yourself can live your life for you so you shouldn't let things hinder your mind and just live your life the way you like it. All the characters be it Eun Gyeol, grandma, Yi Chan's friend Eun Gyeols's brother, or Eun Yu, etc. just fit the role so well that I think whoever came up with the casting seems to be from the future😂😂. The music is awesome, the flow of the story is really smooth and well-directed, and the cinematics and contrast between different environments, situations, timelines, etc. are well handled to the point that it just blends without being noticed into the whole drama. This show also tells how not knowing someone's suffering doesn't mean one can assume that they are okay, not all sufferings are visible everyone either is still fighting or has already won the battle with their share of suffering. My favorite character in this drama was Yi Chan due to how kind he was, and how well he could blend in with anyone and make the other party feel comfortable, he seemed comical yet without a doubt was the most responsible one in the drama and the way he treated Cheong Ah really sets an example of how green a green flag can be💞.
Watch the drama to find out who will become your favorite character maybe this drama might also end up becoming a great memory for you too.

✨️? - A MUST WATCH
Youth life is the most precious life. Youth is the best time. The way in which you utilize this period will decide the nature of coming years that lie ahead of you. - Swami VivekanandaAs rightly said by Swami Vivekananda and the moral of this series portrayed, YOUTH IS THE BEST TIME. The series revolves around a boy who wants to become a singer in a band but is fearing the burden from his parents who have hearing loss. He goes to the past to find out that it's is none's fault that life turns out how it is. We just live on with whatever happens around us.
This drama is a perfect epitome of what we want to see- romance, melodrama, lot of music, sadness and forgiveness. It's a powerful performance by all the artists who have worked in this series.
Can't say anything more than IT IS A MUST MUST WATCH. So if you haven't started this yet, don't wait. Just do it. You'll love it. ❤️

twinkling watermelon ー twinkled within us ?
honestly from a pov who just recently finished it ー away from the craze when it aired (tho i wanted to watch it live so bad but cannot for personal reasons) i appreciate the stillness and the quiet while watching it and processing it on my own.the story is full of realistic issues ー from domestic ones to the story of youth and the hierarchy or status. it connects each on of us who has the same struggle as the main characters ー sometimes we want to just close our eyes wishing that if we open it, we are all just in a twisted dream but unfortunately everything happening around us is real which we can relate to what eungyeol's present looks like. he did not avoid his dad's accident whatever methods he tried but because he gave up giving up, and because of his persistence and perseverance he did change a lot of things.
the takeaway we can get here is that change is never out of reach if we keep on trying and striving to do what's good, what's just, what's pure, what's kind, and what's right.

beautiful story
What a beautiful story. The plot is similar to back to the future in terms of time traveling and the parents being involved in the purpose of the travel. For me it's a great plot and I love how the k-drama develop it.I would have loved a final episode a little be longer explaining how the parents meet again, and how different was the protagonist's mother life, but well it let us to imagine those parts.
It's a k-drama that sometimes I will revisit.

Definitely a 10 star!!!!
I can't believe I watched this!!!I seriously went into this drama thinking its going to be another generic and mediocre high school drama. I mean just look at the crew, cast and THE NAME!! I never thought this would be my 5th 10-star drama in my 5 years of watching K-dramas. I was disappointed so bad but in a good way lol.
I have a thing for dramas that are flashbacks to the 90s. Dramas like Reply 88, 25-21 and others are my favorites of all time. But I never thought this drama would another one of those. I literally watched it because i had nothing else to do. I turned on the first episode and the next thing i know i was singing along with the ost with all the lyrics memorised by heart.
The plot just fits perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle. There were seriously no plot holes and it was just so satisfying to watch. The drama will literally drop your heart, break it into pieces and then go over those pieces with a hoverboard. But the next moments you'll find yourself laughing till your stomach hearts and you have tears in your eyes. You know when a drama gives you such feeling that it will be really good.
And the acting!!!! What the hell is up with these rookies??!!! Why are they soooooo good. I mean its a crime to be so good at something at such a young age. And I would like to add Ryeoun - I'll be keeping my eyes out for you. I think I found my next bias after Jungkook (which was 5 years ago lol). I can't wait to see what else he is going to do in the future.
For those looking for simmilar dramas to fill that empty void in their hearts, you should really check out Twenty-Five, Twenty-One and Reply 1988. You won't regret I promise. And I'll be going to rewatch them again now.

I cried tears in the end because it broke me and built me up at the same time!
I wasn’t really getting the hype during the first episode. Sure it was fun and moving but I wasn’t obsessed with it. Then came the time travelling back to the past and even that wasn’t so fun seeing Ie chan going after se gyeong etc but damn shortly after it started growing on me so muc i became totally invested in the characters! When Ie cha lost his hearing after all I legit cried tears and I never cry easily ! I wish he didn’t have to lose his hearing but that’s part of his story and I’m okay with that. This drama is perfection and I totally understand now why it’s so highly rated! 100/10 starts for such a beautifully moving experience! Was this review helpful to you?

loved it!
I loved, loved, loved this show. I had my eyes for it as soon as it started airing, but I patiently waited for all episodes to finish airing so I could binge watch it in a weekend. I love time travel themed shows, and this one was such a heart warming story, of family, love, friendship, dreams, love and loyalty! I loved all the characters, especially the ones from 1995, and I felt the dilemma, confusion, happiness and sadness with every character, especially the ML, right with him. The actress who played Cheong-Ah in 1995 was super cute and I simply loved her innocence and expressions. One discovered that the disability of the ML’s dad was not congenital, rather due to an accident at the age of 18, but even if it was 1995, hearing aids were available to people who could speak but just couldn’t hear. I mean one can understand how Beethoven became deaf and couldn’t be treated in the 1700s, but it is beyond me why Ha Lee Chan couldn’t be given a hearing aid! That said, I still love this show to pieces, and would be rewatching it several times, and would also recommend it to my friends! Was this review helpful to you?
