Xinxia done right
I’m usually too lazy to write a review but felt compelled to write my first one after reading some biased opinions from people who felt their actor didn’t have enough screen time. There needs to be more honest reviews of the drama itself. This drama doesn’t have the usual faults of most xinxias - repetitive dialogues, 2 dimensional illogical obsessed 2nd lead, overuse of CGI, dragged out story.
Main couple’s romance was fresh, side characters were likable and didnt seem like useless fillers, and the antagonists were not evil for no reason. They had fleshed out backstories.
Everyone’s acting was captivating. Sun Zhenni was the right amount of perky, cute, and flirty. Zhang Bin Bin had the difficult task of playing an initially cold character, and he became more expressive as his characters evolved.
Especially compelling is Wang Duo’s acting and what he brought to an already interesting character. Sometimes the smallest gesture or expression can speak volumes.
Xinxia is usually not my favorite genre but this story was well written and not just filled with mindless angst driven drivel. Pacing was not slow like many xinxias. It was almost too fast in some parts, where I had to replay to catch what was being said.
This is worth rewatching because it’s not just about romance. The story itself is multi-layered and interesting. But if you want to watch for the romance, I thought it had a good amount of it (multiple kisses, hugging, and flirting) but some people didn’t think so. I would say check it out for yourself and form your own (hopefully unbiased) opinion.

Love story of a Human, a Book and a Pearl…
This will be my shortest review and minimum reveal of the plot.Although this a novel adaption, the screenplay has made some changes especially towards the ending. This drama ending gives a broader story arc and grander meaning of the sacrifices that happened.
I decided to read the novel after starting this drama, in my opinion both should be kept apart and not be compared. As both are good in its own way.
The synopsis in MDL can be misleading as it mentioned only Zhao Ming (ZM) and Ah Zhu story arc, however this drama begins at a different arc, where ZM and Ah Zhu was a past.
This drama starts at human realm where FL (Meng XueLi, MXL) a spiritual being shamelessly pursuing ML (Xie Xue Chen, XXC) and showing her affection at him. XXC is a highly cultivated mortal who has a best buddy, who is also a cultivated mortal but has a hidden identity, the SML, Nan XuYue (NXY). It is a story of their relationship entanglement, their past lives, their obsessions and their growth journey. Throughout the story, it may feels like SML is trying to break the main lead’s love relationship, but ultimately he never stand a chance, as the main leads are very much in love and bonded from previous lifetime.
Yes, this story has time travel, and at one point XXC will attempt to travel to change MXL’s fate. There is also an involvement of a bigger threat, Hao Tian, who is the creator yet can be a destroyer. The Trio went through a journey to discover their mission and met many other friends. The side stories of the other side characters were interesting and quite heartwarming, and did make me very emotional.
What I enjoy most:
1.It is refreshing to see a provocative FL who pursue ML all the way with unwavering love.
2.The characters and story pacing were coherent and consistent throughout.
3.All the casts’ acted well and were believable and fits their roles well.
4.The CGIs were much better then some big budget dramas.
5.There were proper choreographed fight scenes.
6.I really like the side stories of the other side characters.
7.The ending is satisfying and complete for me.
What I am dissatisfied with:
1. I wonder how it would be like if this drama follows exactly with the novel ending. I like the novel ending too.
2.Some may feel that this drama emphasizes a lot on SML’s presence and screen time, to a point that I wish to see what really happened to him after he chooses his end.
3.The Hao Tian’s arc was rather weak in set up and it wasn’t clear on why it wants to destroy humanity. And why it creates artifacts and set weird rules for them without contingency plan when they learnt to feel and love.
In my opinion this drama is a dark horse and deserves more viewership.

I’ve read a few reviews, and I might be in the minority here, but I actually enjoyed the middle-to-end of the series more than the beginning!I started watching because I love the cast—especially Sun Zhen Ni, who I adored in Till the End of the Moon. So naturally, I was super excited about this series. However, the way the story unfolded in the beginning felt like a very typical Wuxia setup, so I wasn’t as invested at first. Honestly, I almost gave up a few episodes in, but my sister encouraged me to keep watching—she just knew I’d end up loving it. And she was right!
The storyline of their past lives as Zhao Ming and Pearl completely captivated me. While the plot itself was simple, it helped justify the connection between the two leads, making up for the lack of chemistry in the first half. Watching their “first” love story unfold was so satisfying! The chemistry between them during this part was adorable, and everything just made so much more sense.
What I Loved About the Series:
• The Cast – Of course, I was excited for Sun Zhen Ni, but I was also really looking forward to Wang Duo! He’s always played second leads in his past projects, and he does such an amazing job at it. He’s the first actor to truly make me believe in second lead syndrome! He has a knack for playing those ambiguous characters where you’re never quite sure if he’s truly bad or just pretending for the sake of the FL.
• Side Characters – I always love watching strong side characters, and this series delivered! Abao, the monk, his sister, the princess and the bodyguard have a past together. I was practically shouting with excitement when we got to see more of them on screen. Again, I enjoyed their “first” love story so much more!
• Hang Dong – He’s another actor I always enjoy watching! He takes on so many supporting roles and often plays characters with the saddest love stories—but he nails it every time. I also love seeing more seasoned actors in dramas like this.
• The Visuals – The colors, the outfits, the CGI—everything was stunning! The pink and purple hues were absolutely mesmerizing. I also loved that they included Chinese minority outfits; they looked so beautiful on the female lead!
What I Didn’t Like:
• The Ending Felt Rushed – I kept wondering, What happened to Snow City during the attack? What about the rest of the side characters? I get that the main focus was the leads and their story, but it felt like something was missing in how everything wrapped up.
• Chemistry in the First Half – Okay, I might get some hate for this, but I really questioned their chemistry in the first half. I just didn’t feel why he was so drawn to her. It almost seemed like he only liked her because she kept chasing him. I wanted more—a deeper connection or meaning at least.
Final Thoughts:
If you love a solid storyline, breathtaking visuals, and justice for the leads, then this series is definitely worth watching. Despite its flaws, I really enjoyed it!
Rating: 8/10

Best Cdrama of all
I've seen quite a bit of C-drama, and this is the one for me. All the micro-expressions. 👏 Well done. The storyline, the actors, and music created a beautiful story that got me hooked. It's so good I can forgive some slow parts. 😆 Never been this hooked on a C-drama before. Now what am I going to do with myself once this drama ends? LolWas this review helpful to you?

If "I'll let the world burn for you" was a drama...
I decided to start this drama because I absolutely adored the female lead in "Until the end of the moon". She portrayed a very fiesty character in that drama and I was pleasantly surprised when the directors of this drama decided to bring that micheveous persona of hers over to this drama. The drama revolves across 2 star-crossed lovers who are tragically fated across multiple lifetimes and yet, still willingly go through pains and sufferings just to rekindle their love. The ML shoulders the biggest responsibility of the immortal alliance, swearing to protect the human realm for as long as he lives. The FL who comes from the Dark Abyss (the enemy clan you could say), tumbles across this ML, recognising him as her long-lost saviour from when she was a child and thus, their love story begins (or so they thought)...
The drama itself is an absolute masterpiece. I had no problems with the pacing of the drama as every episode seemed to have served a purpose and it certainly did not feel "dragged out" like a lot of other cdramas. The storyline of the drama was also incredibly thorough, with most plot holes and curiosities satiatied by the end. The actors and actresses did a marvelous job in portraying their emotions and Vin had the hardest job of portraying 3 separate characters but still executed it well.
Moving onto the production value, I have to say this has been the one of the most impressive dramas in terms of their CGI. It didn't feel ridiculously artificial and in fact, looked realistic. The costuming was beautiful however there were some parts of the drama where I did wish that the female lead had more wardrobe options because it seemed like she was always cycling through the same 3 costumes.
The OST is chef's kiss; there's really nothing else I can say about it other than that.
The only critique that I would give this drama that warrants it a 9/10 rating, is the fact that once you approach the episodes where there is time travel involved and "communication with a different time", the story becomes a little difficult to follow as the pace of the story picks up. The side characters of this drama also do not have a lot of screentime and we as the audience do not get the details on how their feelings developed into an actual relationship; it just kinda happened out of the blue almost.
Other than that, I would recommend to watch this drama if you're looking for something that is almost based on romance since this drama has little to no politics. I also recommend this drama if you're looking for something that tugs at your heartstrings without making you completely bawl your eyes out.
Happy Binging!! 🫶

The Blossoming Love - The Underrated Pick
The Blossoming Love is like a sweet, epic rollercoaster of love and drama, set in a fantastical ancient China. The Female Lead: Mu Xuanling, played by Sun Zhen Ni, is a total game-changer in this drama. She's not your usual damsel-in-distress; she's out there, making things happen. Her character is all about being flirty yet smart, pushing the boundaries with her boldness. Watching her navigate this ancient world with such confidence and wit is a blast. She doesn't wait for love to come to her; she goes out and grabs it, making her relationship with Xie Xue Chen feel like a true partnership. It's all about her growth, her choices, and how she owns her story.
The Male Lead: Let's talk about Xie Xue Chen, played by Vin Zhang. He's got that classic brooding hero vibe going on but with layers. His journey from a guarded warrior to someone who opens up to love is heartwarming. His chemistry with Mu Xuanling is what fairy tales are made of, and you can't help but root for them through every twist and turn.
The Scene-Stealing Second Lead: Now, Wang Duo as Nan Xu Yue? He's the dark horse of this drama. From the moment he steps onto the screen, he commands attention with his enigmatic acting. Nan Xu Yue is the epitome of "troubled but talented" - he's got secrets, a tragic past, and motives that keep you guessing. Wang Duo plays him with such nuance, giving us a character who's both a potential villain and an unexpected hero. You see him shift from being this loyal friend to revealing his more complex, sometimes sinister side. His internal struggle is palpable, and his scenes with Mu Xuanling are charged with a raw, magnetic energy that often overshadows the main couple. His performance adds a delicious layer of unpredictability and depth to the show, making you question loyalties and root for him even when logic says you shouldn't. He's not just a love interest or an antagonist; he's a narrative force that challenges the very essence of the love story, making "Blossoming Love" all the more captivating.
Overall Vibe: If you're into dramas where the female lead isn't just there to look pretty, the male lead brings depth to the story, and the second lead could have his own spin-off, "Blossoming Love" is your jam. It's a binge-worthy tale that'll tug at your heartstrings, challenge your allegiances, and keep you guessing until the very end.

Love versus Fate. A captivating tale of destiny and the bonds that bind us and set us free.
"The Blossoming Love" is a story about two lovers whose love, after 10 000 years of struggle and suffering, ultimately manages to overcome all obstacles, even destiny itself. The series first introduces us to three main characters who remain the central focus of the plot throughout all 40 episodes. The world in which the protagonists live is divided into several races and territories. The demons, or Dark Clan, live isolated behind barriers in an area called the Dark Domain, while humans and the Spirit Clan coexist but are constantly at war, fighting for dominance and control. In this struggle, the humans, led by the Immortal Alliance and its cultivators, achieve dominance over the Spirit Clan and keep its members enslaved and in captivity.Mu Xuan Ling, the Holy Maiden of the Dark Domain, is a member of the Spirit Clan, and at the beginning of the story, she saves Xie Xue Chen, one of the most powerful members of the Immortal Alliance, from imprisonment in the Dark Domain. As members of opposing sides in the battle between good and evil, they have different views on the world they live in. However, despite their differences, they continue their journey together, growing closer over time, mutually influencing each other and gradually changing their long-established beliefs. On their shared journey, they are soon joined by Nan Xu Yue, Xie Xue Chen’s childhood friend, who was once at the pinnacle of the cultivation world alongside Xie Xue Chen. However, after being captured and crippled, he now lives a reclusive life.
What I personally liked the most about this series are the characters, their relationships with each other, and their overall development. Xie Xue Chen, portrayed by Vin Zhang, is a righteous cultivator who carries the fate of the entire human race on his shoulders. As the son of the leader of the Immortal Alliance and the most promising young cultivator, he is burdened with high expectations and standards that are nearly impossible to meet. Forced to give up all personal desires, he has been trained since childhood to be ready to sacrifice his life in the fight against evil. As the story progresses, Vin Zhang portrays two more versions of this character, each with its own nuances and differences. I really liked how he managed to gradually and convincingly show the evolution of his character, his "softening," and his gradual falling in love with Mu Xuan Ling.
Mu Xuan Ling, portrayed by Sun Zhen Ni, is an interesting example of a "strong female character." She isn’t unbearable, aggressive, or forceful, but rather possesses the right combination of traits that make her both powerful and feminine. From the very beginning of the series, she is coquetish, teasing the male lead and trying to get in his head. However, she hides great secrets within herself. Over time, she falls in love with Xie Xue Chen, and her love becomes insurmountable. She loves the male lead, shows it, helps him, and even sacrifices herself for him, but never loses her sense of self in the process. When the second male lead falls for her, she sets clear boundaries and never crosses them. She remains loyal until the end.
Like Vin Zhang, Sun Zhen Ni also portrayed three different versions of her character over the course of 40 episodes, and managed to make each of them unique. She was strong, yet feminine and gentle. She could hold her own, but also allowed herself to be guided. Sun Zhen Ni was a perfect choice for this role. She possesses both the innocence and allure needed to bring out all of Mu Xuan Ling's qualities.
My favorite character, however, was Nan Xu Yue, played by Wang Duo, and I believe his evolution and overall actions throughout the series were what truly drove the plot and made it so captivating. Nan Xu Yue is an incredibly interesting, enigmatic, and mysterious character. Although he is deeply devoted to his friends from the very beginning, there is always the underlying possibility that he might actually be the main antagonist, and that a moment will come when all his masks will fall. Without giving too much away, the masks did fall, but what was revealed behind them wasn’t what I expected. Essentially, Nan Xu Yue is a tragic and complex character, driven by selfish goals and a desire to save the world. Throughout this process, he doesn't shy away from working with villains or committing horrific acts.
Wang Duo portrayed two different versions of this character, both quite distinct and intriguing. The way he transformed himself into this, essentially anti-hero character, was mesmerizing.
Another thing I really liked was the fact that the series doesn't have too many side characters. The plot is mostly focused on the main characters and their relationships, and the secondary characters who do receive attention are developed in a careful and beautiful way, so each of them has an incredibly touching story.
The series also boasts beautiful cinematography, stunning costumes, and exceptional CGI. The way the battles between cultivators are depicted using CGI might be considered over the top by some, but I absolutely loved it. The fight scenes are also perfectly choreographed and executed. When it comes to that, I have nothing but praise.
The music is another element that was given a lot of attention to, and it shows. The compositions used for specific scenes managed to complement and elevate each moment. The main song used in the more dramatic battle scenes, along with the whispering compositions used in the more mysteriously dramatic moments, were perfect.
Those are my compliments, and now I’ll move on to the one aspect I found some issues with: TIME TRAVEL! At one point in the series, the characters have to defeat the main antagonist using time travel. The way it's explained is somewhat clear, but every time I try to analyze how the plan was supposed to work, I come across logical inconsistencies.
But in general, regardless of this specific series, I can feel my brain short-circuiting whenever I try to logically understand time travel. I’m pretty sure our brains just aren't wired to fully comprehend it. That being said, this is xianxia, so I just went with it and enjoyed the ride.
Overall, this was a fantastic series, with a captivating story about love, fate, and predestination. The characters embodied different philosophical perspectives, ranging from Nan Xu Yue's fatalism to Xie Xue Chen and Mu Xuan Ling's belief that people have the power and responsibility to shape their own destinies. The character development was deliciously satisfying!
10/10.

It deserves more attention – Story and Acting Done Right!
I went into The Blossoming Love with zero expectations. Thought it’d be another copy-paste demon girl meets immortal guy story. Seen it a hundred times. But nope, I was dead wrong—this show actually delivered. From episode one, the pacing, visuals, fight scenes, and music just hit right. The effects and costumes? Solid. And if you’re skipping this because the actors aren’t super famous, that’s your loss.Mu Xuanling, the female lead, is sharp and strong but had a rough life growing up in the Dark Domain, fighting to survive. She acts flirty and carefree, but deep down, she’s been through hell. She worked her way up to become the Saintess of the Dark Abyss and trained under Sang Qi, the big boss of the Dark Domain.
Xie Xue Chen is the strongest sword cultivator around. Trained to be emotionless, puts humanity first, and takes responsibility for everything like it’s his full-time job. His biggest issue? He thinks love and emotions make him weak, which, let’s be real, never ends well.
They start off hating each other (Well maybe the ML only)—MXL despises humans for enslaving her people, while XXC is all about protecting them. But the guy was in seclusion for years, so he had no clue humans were the real problem. As they spend more time together, the walls start to break.
Then there’s Nan Xu Yue. Once had it all, then lost everything when his brother betrayed him. He was down bad, and a young Xuanling was the only one who showed him kindness. That moment stuck with him, and he spent years trying to get stronger while holding onto his feelings for her.
And the past life twist? MXL was the Chaos Pearl, a divine artifact meant to protect the world. Nan Xu Yue was the Book of Fate, created for the same reason. Meanwhile, XXC was the Human Emperor Zhao Ming, a divine child meant to wipe out the Divine Race. Their past got wrecked by misunderstandings, thanks to Tian Ming.
Now, let’s talk about the actors. Wang Duo (Tian Ming/Nan Xu Yue) absolutely crushed it. His character is complicated, and he nailed all those little details. Sun Zhen Ni, the female lead, was the biggest surprise. Only saw her in a side role before, but she owned this one. She deserves way more lead roles. Vin Zhang? Solid as always.
The chemistry between MXL and XXC is crazy. Whether they’re fighting or having deep moments, every scene just works. And the soundtrack? Perfectly timed. Fights, emotional scenes—music makes everything hit harder.
This drama is worth watching, maybe even rewatching. The writing, directing, pacing—it all comes together so well. Huge respect to the team for pulling this off.
And one last thing—Mu Xuanling might be the best female lead in any Chinese drama. Smart, loyal, and always ten steps ahead. She never betrayed the male lead, not even once. She saved him, revived him, and wiped out the Divine Race for him. Absolute legend.
Hands down, one of the best dramas I’ve seen.

What a masterpiece-Ending explained
How did it pass censorship I've no idea! It's rebellious beyond words! The drama is a study of love and freedom with full fledged characters and wholesome plots and arcs. The actress is a prodigy, she's sexy and innocent and clever and cunning and funny, she embodied every role to its fullest. ZBB is as always his perfect self and WD as NXY/TM is an unforgettable surprise as a poetic villain! I truly loved how he unraveled his role(s) and his insights! I'm in love with these people and their performance!Edit 22/2/2025
Explanation of the ending
The ending is a bit weird and definitely needed explaining, but I think it was done on purpose, either bc they wanted to hype the drama or bc they, themselves, can't explain it. Here is my take. The first time XXC returned to save MXL and kill HW he changed the timeline. Him knowing who the Pavillion Master is long before the reveal implies that there was once a timeline where MXL died and he found out the ID of the master during the final fight. According to this observation the whole timeline can change in ways that does not affect the outcome. He couldn't kill HW the first time he came back because fate is written and the outcome already known. So, bear with me:
1) Fate (NXY) knows the outcome. By "dying" fate is no longer decided.
2)Demon ZM is the future ZM with XXC soul fragment in him reliving the 10000 years of imprisonment.
3) He has both the memories of himself (not distorted) with AZ and XXC with MXL
4) Everything goes the way it does bc the main characters relive the last 10000 years and yes, TM becomes NXY, but fate now can be changed bc that's a new timeline, the third one (see No11)
5) When MXL meets ZM there is no hate. I want to think he took the time to explain how things are to both MXL and XXC.
6) Now here's the tricky part which still bothers me. XXC has to die whether MXL does ore not, bc that's how ZM is freed and the timeline with no HT is activated. So he dies as per the first and second timeline(I''m explaining it on No11), only this time there are two soul fragments in ZM making XXC's memories more formidable.
7) NXY doesn't become TM because his celestial form was destroyed to let people have free will. HT is already dead so there is no need to relive the final boss battle.
8) So how does MXL get her memories back? ZM can do that bc he's double xped bc of two XXC fragments.
9) He's freed from the Abyss and just returns to Snow City being one whole soul plus extra(that's why he keeps his demon powers) and reunites with MXL
10) Does FY die? I think not. In this timeline I want her reunited with her brother
11) I haven't addressed XXC saving young MXL. As I've already said there are two timelines. We are watching the second through the whole drama and the third timeline is hinted at at the last scene where ZM is in Snow city. So in the first timeline, XXC finds HW is the Pavillion master in their final battle and MXL is saved from Moonlight Pavilion by SQ. In the second timeline (the one we are watching) just like XXC finds out HW is the pavilion master but he can't be killed yet, XXC can't take MXL bc she has to be SQ's disciple. Don't forget we are still in arranged fate timelines. So whether it's SQ or XXC saving her, MXL has to follow her Dark Abyss arc. In both timelines she falls in love with XXC and she hates the Alliance(in the 2nd timeline more bc they killed her Mister). That's why in the second timeline she falls in love with XXC all over again despite her Mister memories, and she makes sure he knows that
So in conclusion:
Three timelines
1) Arranged fate, SQ saves MXL, she falls in love with XXC despite her revenge plan, XXC fights Pavilion Master, death of both leads BUT by trying to save MXL, XXC triggers timeline:
2) Arranged fate, XXC saves MXL but she has to become SQ's discipline, he attacks HW but it's not his time to die, repeat the same story and now HT is dead and we reach timeline
3) Arranged fate, people live and die as needed up till NXY's death. Free will and no HT, but an all knowing ZM with double soul shards, demon powers and a happy ever after. There is no blocking of XXC's technique in the third timeline bc ZM is the future ZM of timeline 2 who decided to relive the 10000 years of punishment. Thus ZM is stronger than ever.FY doesn't die in this timeline bc there is no TM (artifact side is dead) to protect from a HT that no longer exists. With NXY's death the second timeline shifts into the third, because HT and TM are already dead. And that's how we get the last scene in the Snow City
