One of the best medical cdrama i've watched
It's so hard to find a good quality medical cdrama so when I started to watch this i have no high expectation. It didn't disappoint me tho. Exceeded all my expectations. While there's rivalry and hospital politics, they're not toxic. Any misunderstanding are wrapped up in time, not dragging and annoying. All characters are lovable. No one is problematic. Time flies so fast when I watch an episode. It keeps me wanting more. Patient cases are interesting and heartwarming. I especially liked how mostly are coming from emergencies and some cases are hard to diagnose. I personally don't care about the scientific and explanations. I just want a medical cdrama where I can enjoy watching it. And this is one of it. I keep looking forward to going home and settle in my bed and watch it and keep wanting more after i'm done. It's really feel good. No stress. I hope it stays that way. I'm bad at writing anything but i need to let this out. This drama is so underrated. I wish more people get to watch it. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful to you?

My Favorite Bromance This Year
They really outdid themselves; “Justice in the Dark” might be in the dungeon but the director made sure that “Live Surgery Room” surmounted the boundaries of Bromance! It was halfway through that I learned Qiu Zhong Wei (“Justice in the Dark”) was helming this project. For those who have read the novel, MC Zheng Ren supposedly has a love story with nurse Xie Yiren, which has been totally sidetracked in the adaptation. If you are wondering why, the answer lies with the director who obviously prefers bromance. So, we got a drama with lots of medical terminologies thrown in alongside oodles of delicious bromance. Must admit, I was afraid that the script might pair the male protagonists with the female leads who had a crush on them; but surprisingly they didn’t. The director makes no efforts to appease the censorship and the show solely focus on the budding relationship between the male protagonists. Also read somewhere, that the male leads spend months getting themselves familiarized with the medical terms and surgical processes. In short, this drama is a commendable artwork made possible by the hard work of a dedicated team that includes some talented actors/actresses.

Expect a strong bromance/friendship cos the chemistry is CHEMISTRYING.
We have ZR who came to the hospital his father help build almost 20 years ago, to work & also investigate what happened during those 17 years…there he meets different patients & diseases. He looks cold, distant & blunt due to the past but slowly opens up to another smart man called Su Yun. SY also has his own baggage, but slowly changes while having ZR around.Note that, even tho it’s from the novel, it doesn't follow everything accurately, then again which drama has EVER followed a novel to the T?🤔. So don’t expect some system or whatever & yes they’ll blur the surgery( due to censorship I guess) so keep that in mind too.
Zheng REN & Su Yun work together, become very close to the extend that, ZR wants SY by his side all the time. Whenever SY is sad, ZR gets emotional too…mind you, he NEVER cares nor shows emotions to anyone except Su Yun. They are basically best friends/soulmates you could feel the chemistry oozing 🤭. There may be disagreements but they quickly solve it as adults. Mostly when there are disagreements the two leads start bickering & become negative towards each other but NOPE! Not ZR & SY.
So give it a watch & you won’t regret it.

Decent acting talent from Vin Zhang, but the story is unrealistic. It went downhill after episode 6.
Live Surgery Room is a medical melodrama starting with Vin Zhang. He is a decent actor, and it was the first time I saw him act so emotionally in a drama when he found out why his dad committed suicide at Haicheng Hospital. It was convincing, but the story went downhill after he found out the reasons why his dad took his life. Streaming surgery Live in real life is unrealistic, and this drama had no romance.
Synopsis: Zhen Ren is a surgeon who achieved his father's dying wish. With the help of ER director Pan, he joined Haicheng Hospital. He took steps forward to save a patient during a Whipple procedure. Zheng Ren devoted everything to being a doctor, and his skills caught the attention of genius doctor Su Yun, who began to study Zheng Ren's methods. Su Yun accepts and admires Zheng Ren as a colleague after witnessing his selflessness when they both signed up for the frontline rescue team after an earthquake. To treat a case of conjoined twins with arrhythmia, Zheng Ren and Su Yun join hands to form a team formed by a group of medical professionals that includes equipment nurse Xie Yiren, attending physician Lin Yuan (Wei Wei), consulting physician Chang Yue, and German professor Rudolph.
My Reviews:
1. The entire cast's acting ability was okay. Vin Zhang performed a decent job in emotional scenes. He is a decent actor, but he has appeared in many dramas in which I felt the scripts were not good, which makes his acting ability mediocre.
2. The first 5-6 episodes were engaging as Vin Zhang's character, Zheng Ren, tried to discover why his dad took his life.
3. Zheng Ren is a genius surgeon, but he cannot be the only one who performs all surgeries successfully in the entire hospital.
4. To have a story about how to survive in a hospital, they have to stream the surgery live, which is unrealistic in real life.
5. There was no romance in this drama, so if you are looking for it, you will be disappointed like I was.
I give it a 6.0 rating for bad scripts and unrealistic storylines.

A Medical Web Novel Adaptation Ruined By Censorship
If you're watching medical dramas for the heart breaking stories of patients and the drama between doctors, you might like this drama but for everyone else who watches medical drama for the medical scenes (surgeries), this drama is a complete waste of time. This is adapted from a web novel where the MC has a system. The system give him his godlike knowledge and skills which allows him to amaze everyone and cure everyone.
In the drama however, the system doesn't exist. Nothing replaces it. He just has the knowledge and skills after waking up suddenly one day. No need to have the training that everyone needs to go through to become a skilled surgeon, just sleep and wake up and you have the hands of god!
If you want to watch doctors doing surgeries, just go back to Korean, Japanese or American dramas. Majority of the scenes during the operation is centered around the expressions of the surgeons, or the viewers talking, or the medical machinery and the few shots you have of the operating area is completely blurred.
What's worse is that novel actually has explanations of many of the medical terminologies or descriptions of the surgical areas to help viewers understand what's going on.
In the drama however, all of this is absent. So unless you're going to pause and google every thing or is a doctor/medical student yourself, you probably won't enjoy this show much.
Similar to every other system novel that is adapted, it's trashed, but the drama and medical cases are still good to watch as they're taken straight from a very successful novel so if you like a drama like that without all the things that make a medical drama a medical drama, you'll like it.

Watch this for my Zhang Bin Bin. Turn out to be one of the best medical drama. Let's talk drama...Story about Zheng Ren (ZR), a prodigy doctor who's not easy to give up. This drama open with ZR witness his father jump from the building, cause the malpractice accusation. So yeah, this drama open with ZR try to unravel the mystery of his father accusation & also the reason ZR go to Haicheng Hospital. But that's mystery soon be solved & with that mystery ending, now is the turn for ZR to open the curtain & all the nerve-wracking story about doctor's job begin...
In Haicheng, ZR met Su Yun (SY), a good doctor with traumatize history that make him can't hold the scalpel. ZR also changing Su Li (SL) the perspective about running hospital or become the doctor itself. ZR remind SL about her initial purpose to become doctor is to save people, not only about making the hospital into profitable business. With the changing perspective in SL mind, she start to form star team with ZR as the centre.
At first ZR as the star doctor get opposition from senior doctor at Haicheng Hospital. Of course, he is a young & new doctor, many senior & old doctor at Haicheng not accepting him as the face of Haicheng Hospital. But soon that old fella have to admit ZR is a prodigy doctor & deserve the title as the star doctor.
Slowly but sure, the team start to form. And when the Haicheng Hospital get the case to separated the conjoint twin, the team has been formed & ready to go for the surgery. The team include He Qian, an anesthetic doctor; Xie Yi Ren, equipment nurse; Lin Yuan second surgeon; Chang Yue orthopedic surgeon; later we get introduce to Rudolf, a foreign doctor that be mesmerize with ZR technic. And of course the most important member SY, after he get heal from his trauma.
Now what I like and don't like.
What I like
+ The Bromance between ZR & SY. Hohoho... If this from other country, I think they already ship that bromance into romance. Haha...
+ The bickering between the doctor, but at the end the most important thing for them still to safe people, not just for their ego.
+ All doctor also normal human. They can be traumatize or have grudge.
+ How doctor can be reminded again about their original purpose to become a doctor.
+ No hospital politic. Pure about medical field...
Actually I don't have something that I don't like. So maybe just what I don't too like:
- I don't too understand all the medical operation & term.
- Oh how much I wish this from other country. So we can see the relationship of ZR & SY transform to deeper relationship. Haha...
Overall this really one good medical drama.

“ A Heartfelt and Motivating Medical Drama"
**Review: Live Surgery Room**This drama is a gem. I've heard complaints about the blurred surgery scenes, but given China's strict media censorship, it was handled perfectly under the circumstances. The issue isn't with the drama itself but with how things work there.
As for the main character, Zheng, being portrayed for being unrealistic and perfect—this is a drama meant to entertain. It gives us the pleasure of seeing the character figure things out rather than being strictly realistic. After all, we endure enough realism in our daily lives. When watching a drama, we seek entertainment, not a reality check.
Being a medical aspirant myself, I found this show particularly motivating. The path of a medical student is hard, requiring much patience and resilience. This drama reaffirmed my choice of career, highlighting the dedication and passion required in the medical field.
The three origins of Haicheng and its strong ethics and morals resonated deeply with me. The principle "Patient always comes first," which I first heard from my father, was echoed in Chen Miao's diary in the drama. This connection made the drama even more meaningful to me.
Despite any technical errors, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama for what it was. In the end, I watched it for entertainment, not for a medical documentary.

Must watch
It is a very strong story with a combination of strong cast. Since I try to not spoil anything in here, I go with a short review. The storyline is really good. The character development was amazing. It has a little bit of mysterious vibe at first which was solved very on time since it is not a mysterious genre and they didn't make it a boring story around a small mystery. The story line was very good all around. It has a strong bromance which was developed through the story and also team development between the characters was really good. The act of the two MLs was amazing. Very much complementary of each others. Both amazing actors. Also all of the side characters have their own stories which were developed so good. The acting of the majority of actors and actresses were really good, specially those older ones.
I recommend it highly to watch it and if you are into rewatch, it is even worthy of rewatching.

A story I don't want to forget.
I rewatched this drama because after my first watch, I felt I had been unfair towards it. I even wrote a review but then I deleted it. I guess I wasn't in the right mindset. I skipped a lot of it because I felt like it was so boring and badly written and I would never reach the end, but somehow I wanted to see where these characters would go. So I kept watching. I also had issues with a few things that were for personal reasons so the drama wasn't entirely at fault, it was mostly me. The truth is that despite what I didn't enjoy (and there was a lot), I could not stop thinking about it after I finished it. I simply could not. So after a little while, I gave it another try.Because I knew what to expect this time and because I had, in the meantime, gained a new appreciation for it, knowing a little more about the base material and the behind the scenes, etc., it actually went a lot smoother. I did not skip a single scene (even rewatched quite a few of them multiple times). What I didn't like or what I hated the first time, I either liked or at least accepted/tolerated this second time. What I liked the first, I absolutely loved it even more. Even though I knew what would happen, it still was an emotional roller coaster. A really rewarding one.
Overall, this drama is not perfect. It's not very realistic, there are a lot of childish ways of seeing things, some uselessly cheesy/overdramatic stuff, some average writing (imo) and redundancy. It's pretty patriotic and I don't really care about these kinds of things. I also didn't really like what they did with Rudolph, sometimes bordering on racist stereotype (although, that could have been way worse, they still managed to make it OK eventually). So there are obvious flaws that I can't just ignore. But, in the end, to me, the good overthrows the bad.
By its excellent and heartwarming intentions, messages, life lessons, by the pure hearts and the pure love these characters show us and give to one another. Its core values are unconditional love, life, friendship, patience, healing, growth, forgiveness, compassion, effort, selflessness, teamwork and a sense of "fate" and acceptance for what happens in our life, regardless of our personal beliefs. That's what this drama is, what it shows you, what it can inspire you to instil in your life, even just a little. As childish, unrealistic and idealistic as that is, it can help you forget reality - or even better, grow stronger in the midst of it.
Yes, everything is idealized : medicine, doctors, human nature, human relationships. Ren and Yun's friendship in particular is among the most beautiful and inspiring things I've seen in my life. Really. And NO, this is NOT BL. I know some people consider that they're looking gay or whatever, but in my opinion this is a very narrow-minded way of seeing things. And regardless of what I personally think, the novel is objectively not a gay romance and this drama is not either. That makes it even more beautiful in my opinion. It's honest, emotional, deep and spiritual. And it's unrealistic, that's for sure. But it feels really good and really healing to give yourself the right to imagine that, maybe, somewhere, at some point in the history of humanity, such people and such absolute love really do exist. There is room for some potential straight romances between the MLs and their respective female love interests (as it is the case in the novel) but it is not developed in this adaptation. Any romance between these ladies and the male leads is therefore up to interpretation and imagination.
And talking about the ladies, how I loved Su Li and Lin Yuan ! I think they were very well written, multidimensional and memorable. I kinda loved Lin Yuan with Zheng Ren, as partners or anything else I don't care, I simply loved their interactions. She's a great character. Xie Yiren and Chang Yue are awesome too, but a bit too "perfect" for me.
I am grateful for this drama. Grateful to the team behind it, to Zhen Xiong Chu Mo the author of the original novel (as different as it is from the adaptation - and it really is) and to all these great actors who did such an astounding job, including support and guest actors. Even the OST is gorgeous (although a bit overused). I won't talk much about the medical side of it. Just know that every case is based mostly on the novel's. And the novel, even though it is a cultivation fantasy novel, is itself based on reality and is very, very heavily medical-focused. And is apparently, by what people say of it, instructive (the author IS a surgeon). So do what you want with it.
But please, if you consider watching this drama, don't be like me : give it an honest chance from start to finish and don't be too critical. A bit of a "philosophical/spiritual" outlook on things may be necessary to really appreciate it, though. I wish you to meet a doctor like Zheng Ren when you need it, and partners and friends like this duo and their team cared for each other.

awesome script with only one wrong plot, amazing casting
In whole 28 episodes I was irritated at only one particular incident, i.e. where they just brushed off ML's father, apology accepted and Su Li made an irrelevant comparison of her divorce to ML's father's death. I wish I could kill her. Rest plot is just amazing. Each episode is more intriguing with variety of cases. My favourite case is of the little kid with bottle because Dai Xu is too endearing here and other is that girlfriend case, it was hilarious. They nailed the trauma resolve of Dai Xu. I was eager from the start and the his c-section scene is wholesome but I was really heartbroken to see Bai Yang's death.I started watching because of Vin Zhang but I adored Dai Xu more throughout the length. They unique chemistry and mutual growth but I really wish there was at least one hug. Partly because there were too many moments when I wished I could give a tight hug to the character.
Moving to the conjoined twins scenes, I like how it was not one shot go, their virtual practice is very thrilling to me.

High-Quality Bromance
In many bromance series, there is often a forced romantic subplot with a female character, but this drama executed it well without that distraction. The protagonists, Zheng Ren and Su Yun, have no unnecessary romantic entanglements. In fact, they only have eyes for each other, focusing solely on improving themselves together. Although some female characters develop a crush on them, it goes completely unnoticed and unreciprocated.
The drama is packed with hospital management, surgeries, and interactions with patients, leaving no room for romance. This allows viewers to fully enjoy the bromance.
I particularly liked Su Yun's character in this drama. Having a genius like Zheng Ren in front of him, in many typical stories, one might expect Su Yun to be jealous or try to undermine him. However, Su Yun doesn't do that. Instead, he understands how much effort Zheng Ren has put into achieving his skills and strives daily to catch up with him. They are rivals, but also absolute friends. It’s a truly wonderful relationship.
Zheng Ren's character is insensitive to people's emotions and struggles with communication, which likely helped avoid censorship. There were moments where it seemed like Su Yun and Zheng Ren might kiss... but of course, they don't. Nonetheless, the bromance is so intense that fans of bromance will highly enjoy it.
The drama's storyline is very convenient. Zheng Ren rarely fails, and not many people die. Almost everything goes smoothly. While it could have been a bit more complex, the bromance is so superb that it makes the drama excellent overall.
