Nothing but that beautiful ache & nostalgia

This is going to be one of those dramas that always leaves me feeling as though I need to forget everything and watch it again from the beginning. Everything about this series was beautiful. Not a single scene made me feel bored, and every character was full of life. While people dislike QiQi's character, I believe she represents aspects of our real lives.

The main leads were amazing; they felt so natural. The delivery of the dialogue didn't seem like acting at all. I could especially feel XW's every emotion. The story and its characters had soul, and the main leads outdid themselves; I believe this is XW's best work yet. The emotions he portrayed were beautiful. The relationship between the leads is also so healthy and warm.

I really want to go back to the start of this beautiful drama. I have this ache in my heart that's just not going away. This entire series made me incredibly happy, especially during their school days, which I thought set the tone for the series. However, as life went on, their emotions at every stage came to life—grief, fear, passion, reminiscence—and in the end, it leaves you with this beautiful ache. The happy ending was realistic in a way that makes me want to start over and watch it again. This series makes me want to cherish the little life that I am living, too.

A beautiful masterpiece indeed.

Realistic movie

At first when I started the drama, I wasn’t 100% into it but after about 2 episodes. I got interested because of how realistic it is. I was also reminded of my high school days, how I’m still best of friends with my best friends in high school and how I’ve lost some friendships cos our values didn’t align anymore. It is definitely a good watch!

slow burn with love square.

GREAT SCHOOL LIFE DRAMA! It's kind of slow burn but you will enjoy it. I especially like ML personality, it's not like those cold and smart nerdy MLs which makes this more interesting, and both leads acting is really amazing too. it's a love square which just gets more complex, but it made the story more interesting to watch and the chemistry between both the leads was great and natural like they both understood each really well . I liked that how they go from friends to lovers and when they were friends they were actually acting like buddies, not like lovers and also it was nice to see both leads pursuing each other, not just FL like other drams which gets annoying. it was fun to see both of them teasing and bickering with each other.

Underrated drama that gave me the best start and ending of all

After binge watching this drama while I'm at a turning point in my life where all of my friends have their own lives, some take reviews for board exam, some are now looking for jobs and other continuing to study it made me reminisce the time we had together.

This story is so well done and the acting and very natural, I enjoyed every second of it as if I am watching a series about my life. The way friendship and relationship comes and goes and life have ups and downs. It gave me this hollow feeling knowing that I wont get to see their life anymore and just get to imagine Xichi and Huan'er getting married having children and together with their friends just like how their parents was before.

My second favourite high school cdrama after wify

A moment connected to the soul will follow us for a lifetime. Always Home is more than just a youth drama-it's an emotional experience that stays with you. Every scene felt like a soft echo of life, of time passing, of growing up without realizing it. The drama didn't chase drama or forced resolutions; instead, it embraced stillness, silence, and the kind of subtle emotions that slowly sink into your heart. The ending left me hollow-not because it was incomplete, but because it was complete. So full of emotion that when it ended, I realized it had quietly become a part of me. The characters lived simple lives, yet the depth of their journey made it feel like I was living alongside them. It made me reflect, feel, remember, and long for something I couldn't name.

This is the kind of drama that reminds me why I love storytelling. The youth portrayed wasn't extraordinary, and that's what made it so real. Whether it was the uncertain smiles, the slight glances, or the unspoken moments, it all felt honest. The chemistry between the cast, especially Song Tong and Du Man, was so natural that it pulled me in completely. The way the drama blends family, friendship, and love-with soft lighting, a perfect soundtrack, and a deep emotional core-is what made it unforgettable. Always Home isn't just a story about youth; it's a reminder that even ordinary lives can be filled with extraordinary meaning.

This drama came to me at the right time. Watching it during this phase of my life-standing at the edge of change, wondering what lies ahead-made it even more meaningful. At 18, when everything feels uncertain yet full of possibility, this story felt like a quiet guide. I want to tell my future self: no matter how far you've come, don't forget these moments. The small ones, the still ones, the moments that quietly shaped you. Stay open-hearted, stay soft, and never stop finding pieces of yourself in stories like this.

this is definitely worth it!

1000/10
This show was very eye opening and super comforting. I love how they implemented the importance of family and love, how friendships don’t necessarily have to fade away if both parties are putting in the effort. How studying and getting good grades doesn’t mean you are going to be successful in life. How in a blink of an eye we can lose our love ones. I love the relationship they all had, but I do wish for qiqi character to not appear again. As for the main leads, I love how they portrayed their love, simple, supportive, caring, and innocent. It really highlights the importance of overcoming traumas together and being there for each other. I also really liked how we got to see the different characters POV’s from time to time, that was definitely beautiful. The university life, was also very well done and realistic in my opinion, we only truly start living once we become adults and realize the outcome is in our hands. The ending did felt a bit rush, some characters did deserve better.
My heart hurt for Song Cong, but I kinda get the concept of him staying alone. It didn’t work out with qiqi bc just like his character stated realistically love it’s not everything in a relationship. As for Du man and him, the kiss they shared was sort of a comfort they both needed after seeing the patient passing… furthermore, I do wish they would have ended together. Overall, this is definitely one of my top dramas, I love the simplicity and the realism of the characters in their family, love and friendships. How all of them got to look back and even though their future didn’t turn out as they planned it in high school, they were in some level of happiness.

Everyone changes with time but some friendships stay for a life time

When i first started this drama i was skeptical because i didn't think i'd like it. I thought its yet another high school drama and there won't be anything going on. Boy was i wrong. I fell in love with the characters and the show. I didn't expect it to make me cry and laugh at the same time. I didn't expect myself to crave the kind of friendships they have years later. As a highschooler myself-with good friendships and amazing people in my life, This drama made me believe that maybe after we're all grown up, we'll still love each other the way we do now. Honestly one of the best dramas i have watched. I feel like rewatching it won't hit the same as the emotions you feel the first time are unreal. I hope that everyone experiences friendships like this once in their life.

Quote I can’t forget: Only when you love someone so much that you can fight confidently.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it A LOT. I randomly picked it up after seeing a really short clip on tiktok (can’t even remember which clip it was) and told myself ‘okay, let’s try’. Before I knew it I was already invested and I couldn’t look away, I had to watch at every free time I get.

I have watched a lot of youth dramas kdramas and cdramas alike but for cdrama this is probably the only one I never fast forwarded anything. Every moment was important to me, and I had to rewind for every scene I missed (especially when they’re saying inspiring or relatable sentiments).

Is the drama in any way using different tropes? NOPE. It probably even used all the tropes there is in a youth/family/romance drama ever. But, what sets it apart from others is the way they resolve the conflicts. Plus, at the end of each conflict, there’s usually a quote that’s being narrated that just pulls at the heartstrings.

My favorite things:
1) the relationship of the people in the compound and how they support each other: parents to parents; parents to children; children to children, it’s so endearing to see.
2) how realistic it is (parents usually hide the important information to their kids and always says ‘everything is okay’ even when it’s not entirely okay at all/ parents don’t want their children to see them at their weak states so they hide that too/ children usually do a lot of things w/o thinking of the consequences/ children are ALWAYS afraid when parents are arguing)
3) the relationship of Xichi and Huan Er, it’s been consistent throughout the show, they know exactly what kind of comfort the other one needs at that time…they were literally so fluffy and I can’t move on from them (help) THE BEST YOUTH DRAMA SHIP (I dare anyone to tell me otherwise 🫣)
4) the narration of Huan Er 🥹🥹🥹

I will never forget this drama and when the day comes that I forget it in time, I’m going to rewatch it again. I can’t believe I just stumbled upon this but it became one of my favorites (if not my most favorite youth drama) 😭🥹 I’m so sad it ended.

Better than a lot of recent school dramas

I would say a strong contender for one of the better school dramas that I have watched. The story line was solid with really good acting by the cast.

They dabbled between heartwarming, mellow and slow burn romance which I really appreciated. Overall a great enjoyable watch. It was really fresh how they didn’t make the leads better and mightier than all just because they are leads, they had their own issues and faults which made them a better person. Little details and narrations were really well done and they delved deeper into the parents storylines which made it so much more wholesome. Definitely give it go if you are looking for something to cry and relate hard to.

My New All-Time Favorite Comfort Drama

I stumbled upon this drama randomly after looking for a show that would give me similar vibes to WIFTY. I'm so glad I gave Always Home a chance because it blew my expectations! The story and characters had a perfect balance of wholesomeness and realism with adorable moments mixed in with serious life lessons. The main leads are what made this drama so enjoyable as their dynamic was so fun to watch. I love how this drama rose above the cliches and tropes and gave us a healthy and meaningful relationship. I feel like we never get to see slow-burns like this anymore! If you're considering watching Always Home, I highly recommend.

I genuinely believe that if you're in high school, college, or simply feeling like you don't know where you life is headed, you should watch it.

This show is about this group of friends in high school, navigating their life. It depicts the lives of these friends who live close by and how they help each other. The three main characters are so well written. From their family backstory, struggles of a student/athlete, how to fit in, having crushes, academics, family pressure, and what to do after high school. etc.

Once they graduated high school, that's where the real story begins! It's also not just all fun and games, there real scenes that hits you hard. One of Huan Er's roomates goes back to her hometown, they say how some live ordinary lives despite their potential. Xi Chi is having a hard time with work. Qi Qi moving abroad, They tackle life struggles people have, issues that the viewers may relate to.

The last episode were the characters from their high school and talk about life. Some are successful, studying, navigating life.
