Dark, Haunting, and Unforgettable: A Unique Start to Mystique in the Mirror

I was completely lost during the first ten minutes, so I had to pause and read the plot summary. That was the best decision I made because everything made so much more sense afterward. My biggest tip for anyone starting this series is to read the synopsis first. It doesn’t spoil anything, but it gives you the right context to understand Alan and what’s actually happening.

This is the first time I’ve seen Tou in a leading role, and his performance as Alan absolutely blew me away. He’s intense and expressive, showing fear, confusion, and raw emotion with every scene. There’s one shower scene that stood out not just for his perfect physique but for how terrifying it felt because of the mirror. The combination of vulnerability and fear was brilliant.

Pentor as Win finally got his time to shine after acting in so many supporting roles, finally got a main role in this series, and even though he only appeared briefly, I could already feel the chemistry between him and Tou. It’s a pairing I didn’t expect to work this well, but it does.

The series opens with a dark, chilling atmosphere that immediately pulls you in. The haunting score, eerie visuals, and strong cinematography create a sense of unease that doesn’t let go. It’s intense, psychological, and slightly terrifying.

This is my first BL with a visual hallucination and mental hospital setting, and I love how different it feels from the usual light, fluffy stories.

I genuinely don’t recommend watching this alone at night like I did because it left me staring nervously at my own mirror afterward. But despite the fear, I’m completely hooked.

For anyone who felt lost after watching the first few episodes like I did, don’t give up or judge it too quickly. The confusion is part of the experience, not a flaw. If everything were explained right away, the mystery and tension that make this genre so captivating would disappear. Mystique in the Mirror is meant to leave you questioning and uneasy, that’s what makes it so intriguing. Personally, I thought this series was executed really well and perfectly captured the tone of a true psychological BL.

Through the Mirror’s Shadow: My Obsession with Mystique in the Mirror

Okay, I seriously can’t stop thinking about this series. “Mystique in the Mirror” is EVERYTHING — mysterious, emotional, creepy in the best way, and so beautifully written.

Oh my god, how much I love this show! I’d even say I’m in absolute awe. I adore stories like this — the kind that make your brain work nonstop, where you have to think, analyze, connect clues, and still end up with more questions than answers. It’s like a massive, impossible puzzle, but it’s so addictive that you want to keep putting the pieces together.

This series is never boring. Not for a single second. I’m glued to the screen the whole time, totally absorbed. Sometimes my brain feels like it’s exploding because I have no idea what’s happening — but I love that feeling! The mystery, the confusion, the urge to understand — it’s all part of the fun.

And the actors? PERFECTION. Every performance feels so real and layered. The BL storyline develops slowly and beautifully — the chemistry between the main leads is insane. Like, seriously, the tension could set the screen on fire🔥 And the secondary couple? I love them so much — it’s so heartwarming to see them back together after so many years.

I’ve already watched three episodes, and honestly… I still have no clue what’s really going on 😭
Is Alan actually alive, or is he a ghost? Or maybe he’s alive and everyone else is a ghost?? Or could it be that Alan just sees spirits, and Win is one of them? And Dr. Nin — is he truly trying to help Alan, or is he secretly making things worse? And what is up with the new nurse, Pete? Why does he act so strange? And don’t even get me started on Dr.Ophat — those haunting, unnervingly intense looks he gives sometimes literally make me shiver. I swear, I have to look away from the screen!

So many questions. So few answers. But that’s exactly why I’m obsessed. I can’t wait for the next episodes to drop, because I need to know what’s really happening!

This show has it all — BL, mystery, horror, psychological drama — and it nails every single genre perfectly. I’m completely, utterly in love with “Mystique in the Mirror” 💜
