Not worth it

I have no idea who comes up with the titles for the series but this thing was anything but a brother trap. What we have in the series is essentially a clearly grown up woman who meets a person that she likes sadly she discovers that he is a younger sibling to somebody she dated while she was in high school. This is where the supposed Drama begins. I will not rate this series higher than a six simply because although it showed that the siblings had a sense of humility it also portrayed the characters in a way that seemed inconsistent. I fail to understand how you would supposedly surrender your love to someone else as if they were yours to give away. I see that cliché type of thing happening often in these dramas however that is a major no-no to me.

There was no mystery in the series. There was no real romance in this series. There really wasn’t even a love triangle. It wasn’t like two men were really fighting for this one female. It was simply a realization and oh well I’ll surrender you because my brother still likes you. That type of stupid stuff. The only positive spin on this series is that the female lead wouldn’t accept being pissed off. The negative side of this is she actually went back with the person that tried to hand her off like she was a commodity. Normal people would’ve walked away from both completely. Alas neither she nor this series were norma.

I was trapped watching this thinking that it was really a trap..

Good series about coming of age. There's still growth that needs to happen in adulthood.

Don't let negative reviews fool you. This series is a coming of age story for young adults ages 19-22. The pacing is just right. You don't need to show everything about the character's life to know why they act the way they do. Akari is just a shy, quiet, and anxious person. Izumi is honest with others but not himself. Yamato is dishonest with himself and others and causes a rift between him, Akari, and Izumi. The ending leaves me satisfied. Not high on my rewatch list, but still a good story.

The reason I call this a 'coming of age' is because these are adults that need to get over what happened in their past. If they are stuck in their regret about decisions they made in high school, they're not moving forward. I believe it causes a person to be stuck at the age they hold onto the regret from. While they make different decisions as they get older, holding onto their past choices just makes them regress back into the mindset they had back then. Thus, their inner mind's growth isn't in tune with their age today.

Adorable coming of age ...

You can see immediately the two protagonists Akari & Izumi are perfect together from the first minute they meet. Jyutaro does a great job at showing his character with such innocents. It's really adorable how these two start off together. Naturally, like any of these stories, other people are going to change things along the way. What makes this story a bit awkward is the fact Akari's past boyfriend turns out to be Yamato, the brother of Izumi. It's an interesting concept. What you can't do while watching the early episodes is jump to any conclusions towards good guy bad guy. Right away you definitely despise Yamato, at least I did, and for good reason. He shows several bad judgement moves throughout this drama, but toward the end he isn't as horrible as first thought. The title may be a bit deceiving, because nothing was done with bad intentions at the onset ... everything was pure coincidence.
When all is send and done, there is a happy ending just the way you hoped for. All in all, it was enjoyable to watch. A few bumps a long the way, but that's life, especially when it's a coming of age drama.
