That’s not what was expected
I’m really disappointed with the series, even though I’d been looking forward to it for ages. The novel was written as a beautiful love story, but they’ve turned it into a silly, bizarre comedywhere one of the actors is constantly running about and acting like an idiot. I won’t be watching any more of it.Was this review helpful to you?

- sweet moments
- the side couple
- I chuckled a couple times*
- supportive servants
- plan in episode 11
- solid ending
Room For Improvement
- the trans woman/non binary character as comedy stereotype
- *comedy sound effects did not make things funny and not all of the humor worked for me

Honest Opinion
As someone who had was really looking forward to seeing lattekim in a series I did love this show!I just think I had my expectations too high. every week I was left on a cliffhanger that kept me coming back for more but the ending felt empty.
I also personally struggle a lot with second hand embarrassment and sometimes JJ’s acting admittedly put me off, but they all worked so hard on the show that it doesn’t matter.
Overall a good show! I wouldn’t rewatch but I enjoyed tuning in every week. A bit dissapointed in some aspects but I am just picky.
Well done to everyone in the cast!

Disappointing at best
As far as the leads go, Net carried this show. JJ needs to go back to acting school and learn to control his annoying facial expressions. I liked the second couple, the opium story line and a lot of the side characters, but JJ was totally miscast. This series is definitely not a masterpiece or deserving of a 10. It was disappointing at best.

A Beautiful Journey Through Time and Emotion
Love Upon a Time finally graces our screens after years of delays and production challenges, a true testament to the resilience and dedication of everyone involved. While the concept of time-traveling to a historical period isn’t entirely new, the drama breathes fresh life into a familiar plot with its comforting story of eternal love and sacrificial devotion—a perfect escape from the real world. The first episode is a masterclass in storytelling. The time-travel sequence is fully covered, yet the narrative never feels rushed or boring; instead, it flows naturally, keeping viewers engaged from start to finish. The cinematography is breathtaking, making every historical set and costume detail feel rich and immersive, reflecting the team’s meticulous attention to each character’s nuances.
The cast delivers remarkable performances. JJ, in his first major drama, impresses with his emotional depth and screen presence, effortlessly pulling viewers into his character’s journey. Net shines brilliantly despite limited screen time, hinting at the layers of story to come. KimLatte adds charm and warmth, rounding out a stellar ensemble that brings the script to life.
The original soundtrack is subtle yet evocative, perfectly complementing the emotional beats and enhancing the period setting. With its captivating performances, thoughtful storytelling, and visual richness, Love Upon a Time is a drama with high rewatch value, inviting viewers to immerse themselves again and again in its world of timeless romance.
It’s a first episode that promises so much more to come, making it clear that this is a series crafted with love, care, and an unwavering belief in the magic of storytelling.

JJ and Nakhun are so perfectly matched that it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. The plot is incredibly engaging, and I love how they've woven in humor so there’s never a dull moment. I already knew how hard NetJJ worked, but watching this, I realized they are even more talented than I gave them credit for.

kind of a mess
nice costumes , nice aesthetics, nice scenery but at what cost when i can't even enjoy any of it or get myself to care??the pacing is horrible and the characters feel soooo undercooked and don’t even get me started on the chemistry. I’m trying SO hard to see it, I really am, but right now it’s giving coworkers reading lines, not soulmates across time. There’s no spark, no tension, not even that awkward “wait….isn't that person kinda 😏"
And the dialogue??? I physically cringed at some parts I’m not even gonna lie. It’s trying so hard to be funny but its giving fifth grade type of comedy why are they making them do this!! trust your actors and give them real characters with depth instead downplaying everything for shits and giggles
overall it was a very underwhelming episode given the hype around it

The main couple’s acting was good—Net performed well. But JJ didn’t come out that well. I am a netjj supporter but JJ’s acting felt like to improve , the comedy sequence like nothing to feel fun Also, the friendship shown in this drama didn’t work for me at all. Even though it’s supposed to be a friendship, it didn’t feel convincing. I’ve watched other dramas like khemjira , duang with you the friendships there felt so natural and worked well. But here, I didn’t feel originality from it.
The same goes for the main couple. Even though it’s just the first episode, they acted well, but still something was missing.
Overall, it felt like a disappointment because I didn’t get any emotional “feel” from the first episode. I didn't spread any hate on the series it just my pov because i started the 1 st episode with so much expectation but I disappointed so that's why

immediate drop
do not even bother watching unless you want to waste your time. i came expecting a legendary historical BL story full of drama and feelings and instead i got a load of cringe worthy comedy with a side of low level tier actingHonestly i wish the company invested more in better screen writers and more skilled directors and editors instead of expecting the audience to watch anything and pay for just any badly produced show
i hope they do better next time especially for lattekim as they deserve better than this mess

Episode 1 Review
What kind of birthday is this… seriously? 😂The episode opens with a dramatic scene in the Ayutthaya era—someone gets shot and dies… and then suddenly cuts to a cheerful birthday party.
That contrast alone already tells you what kind of ride this is going to be.
Klao (Nakun) is having the worst birthday ever.
Everything goes wrong—from being mistaken as a thief to getting weird advice from a fortune teller telling him to “go back to Ayutthaya.”
And then… he literally gets hit by a falling star.
Next thing he knows, he wakes up 400 years in the past.
People call him “Master” and “Klao,” but he insists he’s Nakun.
On top of that, there’s Hop—an annoyingly arrogant guy—making things even more chaotic.
The fun part is Nakun trying to logically figure out how time travel works, like:
machine
magic
unconsciousness
death
…and realizing none of this is helping him at all 😅
JJ’s performance here is surprisingly energetic and expressive.
Instead of a calm character, he plays Nakun as loud, confused, and constantly talking to himself—which actually makes the episode very entertaining.
It’s a classic “modern guy thrown into the past” setup, but the pacing and humor make it really enjoyable so far.
Curious to see how this chaotic start turns into a real story.
Rating: 7.5/10
