Exactly why i love time travel stories

As someone who has always loved time-travel stories, this drama felt like it was made for me. I was completely invested in both timelines, not just the historical storyline but also everything happening in the present, which made the whole experience even more engaging. The way the two narratives connected kept me curious from start to finish, while the romance was full of longing, trust, and genuinely emotional moments. The chemistry between the leads was fantastic and made it impossible not to root for them, adding so much emotional weight to both the romantic and more dramatic scenes. What really sealed the deal for me, though, was the finale. After everything these characters went through, the ending felt satisfying, rewarding, and exactly what I wanted from this kind of story. Romantic, immersive, emotional, and incredibly entertaining from beginning to end.

Love never ends

I saw NetJJ in The New Prince with Zeenunew so thought i would give this a try and I am glad I did... The story isn't unique as it has been done before in I feel you linger in the air, (literally the only reason i dropped it half a point on story) but the acting is wonderful and makes this a stand out watch for me. JJ is so likeable, cute and enthusiastic, whilst Net is just so effortless, in the best way. 10 minutes into the finale and i was bawling like a baby, Net is so good at showing emotions, i really felt it. I am so glad they got their happy ever after, as well as the second couple...Kim as Kaew /Pun is so beautiful and Latte as Jom/Thee - I am a sucker for a happy ending. I dont do sad!! I dont feel like it dragged at all and looked forward to it every week.

A well arounded achievement that will dwell in your heart

LOVE UPON A TIME - Review

Yesterday I finally watched episde 12, the finale, and what a finale it was; one of those, if you went along the dangers, the love, the challanges, the sadness is like a great triumphant ending of a symphony, one of the kind of ending that sticks for you long thereafter.

Since it is the premise that is know Natkun is send back to the time 400 years ago into the Ayutthaya period of Thailand with a task that he needs to bring completion and justice. Net and JJ are the ship as Phop and captain of the guard and Natkun/Khlao, who lives Phob's family household due to previous tragedy.

Personally I admit, I didn't understand why JJ playing so overreating and partially comedic felt so out of place. A GenZ kid suddently in a 400 years before place, I didn't find this overreaction misplaced and giving a bit a fun into an otherwise non-comedy series wasn't even noticed by me until others mentioned it as strange.

Anyway, even if the first or the first two episodes put you off, I am not overstating when I say, LOVE UPON A TIME is one of a few really great BL's, it achieves to be more than even some other great series: it creates a place you feel like you live in it alongside with all the others. Like a not connected invisible person being THERE. And it is especially that achievement that will make a great impact on my rating, since even other great series like Me and Thee or Khemjira, I felt to be great, but only in LOVE UPON A TIME I felt like I AM THERE.

The series managed to balance perfectly between a love story, a crime story and a period drama, where none of the parts loses or overextends at the expense of the other, they are more than balanced, they perfectly intertwine over time. There are many reveals, many very special moments of BL, crime and drama, a wonderful scenic place and cinematography, and good and not intrustive music and each character, from the MC to the Second Couple and the "background" characters, every single one was doing great in their role and place.

I will take this series in my heart as a place I have been, not merely a series I have watched. I know nothing of the actors previously, and I prefer it that way. Sure, there are things of preference when it comes to acting, but I felt all the right buttons pushed and all characters plausible. And that finale of finales! I assume some may have seen it spoiled but I shall do none of the like. If Net and JJ had the stardom level of Pond and Phuwin or Fourth and Gemini, the series would have been even more recognized, but Net and JJ didn't show being any less good in these role, if you ask me.

This with my heart still being somewhat in old Thailand, I comfortably give this a deserved

10/10
Must have seen.

breathtaking masterpiece

I am very strict when it comes to raiting, but I can’t even find a single bad thing about this show. The cinematography is breathtaking, the plot is very well thought of, thr music is beautiful and has immaculate vibe that perfectly fits to the show. While watching it I have not felt bored even for a second, even tho the episodes are more than an hour long, and I often get bored while watching 40min ones. The acting is amazing too, the show is at times funny and sad. it is just perfect. This series has amazing production and is visibly done with a lot of thought and care. For sure one of the best shows I have ever watched

Love Upon a Time: A Beautifully Crafted Series with Outstanding Chemistry

Love Upon a Time is a drama series that truly leaves a lasting impression. From the very beginning, it manages to create a strong, beautiful, and captivating atmosphere. One of its biggest strengths is the incredible chemistry between the two male leads. Their connection feels very natural, powerful, and convincing, without feeling forced or cringe at all. Every interaction between them feels genuine, emotional, and easy for the audience to connect with.

The main actors deliver excellent performances and bring their characters to life with sincerity and depth. Their acting feels expressive yet never excessive. The supporting cast also plays an important role in making the story richer and more engaging. Each character adds something meaningful to the overall world of the series.

In terms of production, Love Upon a Time is also visually impressive. The costumes are beautifully detailed and perfectly match the tone of the story. The atmosphere, locations, visuals, and language are all handled extremely well. Every element feels carefully thought out and works together to create a very memorable viewing experience.

Overall, Love Upon a Time is truly an amazing project that deserves more recognition. It stands out not only because of its story and characters, but also because of its chemistry, acting, visuals, and overall atmosphere. I highly recommend this series to be aired again, as it is genuinely outstanding and deserves to be enjoyed by a wider audience.

This drama is true art

This series was a masterpiece. It captured my attention from beginning to end. It had romance, action, angst, comedy; literally elicited every emotion on the spectrum. The cinematography, and costumes were amazing. Everyone MUST watch this drama. I know I'll be re-watching this over and over for years to come.

dare i say this show is a masterpiece?

yeah folks we can stop right here we've officially done it: this is the best bl not only of this year, but in my opinion the best bl ive ever seen (and ive seen a decent amount). i dont even know what to say, i usually break my reviews into a positive paragraph and a negative paragraph, but i kid you not i dont have a SINGLE negative thing to say, isnt that insane? miss negative nancy over here doesnt have a single bad thing to say, this is a rare sight ladies and gentlemen.

ive been watching this show since the first week, and i was lowkey kinda nervous bc i havent seen netjj in anything, since i STILL havent watched the next prince. i watched some of bed friend, so i did kinda know net's acting before this, but holyyyyyy shit absolutely NOTHING could have prepared me for the acting both net AND jj delivered in this show. not even kidding this might be the best acting ive seen in a bl in a veryyyyyy long time. net is really great in this, i genuinely could not get enough of phob i love that man so much. jj was amazing too!!!!! i really enjoyed seeing the slow shift in his word choice from when he originally traveled back to the past to when he was there for a long time. while i am not fluent by any means in thai, nor am i extremely educated on the linguistic differences between modern thai and the thai spoken during the ayutthaya period, what language differences i could gather from my somewhat decent thai skills was really fun and cool to see. latte and kim were really great, i do wish they couldve gotten a LITTLE more screentime, but hey, beggars cant be choosers, am i right ladies

guys i love phob so much. i love him i love him i love him i love him i love him i love him i think i could go on for days about this man. genuinely i think he's broken into my top 5 bl characters of all time (hes right in fourth place behind palm from never let me go, style from the heart killers, and karan from cherry magic in case anyone was curious). not only do i love phob because net is amazing, i love him becauese he is a very well written character. i FELT that mans emotion dude, like i felt that shit deep in my soul. every scene that man cried i was right there with him like i havent felt this attached to a fictional man in quite a while. he was sooooo green flag, and he made a lot of sense. like, does that make sense? i feel like obviously a gay romance occuring in the ayutthaya period is obviously a little far fetched, but the way phob's character is written and acted doesnt make it seem ridiculous. it feels rooted in something real, and i really enjoyed that. klao, or nakkun (but i think im gonna stick with klao) is so cute guys like AWWWWWWWWW!!!! i feel like that one tiktok sound thats like awwwwww so cute!!! so cute!!! is that niche? guys idc like everytime i would see klao on screen i would wanna pinch his cheeks like i love jj so much hes so cute i cannot like UGHHHHHH!!!! omg and jom and kaew in the past had a veryyy good plot in my opinion. i really enjoy when bls actually explore the deeper themes of societal homophobia, and i was really scared that this show wasnt gonna do that properly. obviously a bl taking place in a historical time period warrants at least a little bit of discussion on the homophobia of their society, but ive seen a lot of these shows do it in a very surface level way. i feel like the plotline with jom not wanting to be judged was a really good one because it EXPLORED those themese on a bit deeper of a level. now was it the most complex, well thought out, and emotinoally moving plot ever? not necessarily, but it was deep enough that it at least satisfied me.

i also really did enjoy how they explored the controversy of phob and klao's love with phob's parents. when i tell you i sobbed for MULTIPLE DAYS over when phob's dad was gonna kick klao out i mean it. i legit had tears welling in my eyes when i thought about it during class like yall it was genuinely consuming my every waking moment. i know i just said i like when bls explore homophobia and the societal issues with being gay that still persist, but MAN that shit gets me. i feel like bls that explore those themes are more geared at an actual LGBTQ+ audience, and less just straight girls that wanna watch two hot dudes kiss (no shade to those people but..) this show felt geared towards the LGBTQ+ community, if that makes sense. as a member myself, i really saw myself in the characters. these struggles still persist in the modern day, hell, my parents are very similar to phob's in a lot of ways. in addition, the ending really felt like it was meant to hit home for LGBTQ+ people because of the marriage. i am actually still crying over the ending a little bit, and i finished the episode almost an hour and a half ago. that full circle moment of seeing a love transcend both centuries AND societal norms like yall dont know how that gottttttt meeeeeeee!!!! im sorry guys but that ending was PHENOMENAL. like actually. that ending felt so earned, that marriage felt so powerful, and it was a perfect conclusion in my opinion. yes i cried when thee and jun got together. yes i cried when phob and klao met in front of the car. yes i cried when they visited the temples. yes i cried THE WHOLE FREAKING EPISODE. i cant make this up the last episode was 1 hour and 27 minutes (ayyyy 127) of me genuinely struggling to see through my tears. god, this show is everything to me can you guys tell?

in terms of the plot itself, the time travel element was very interesting. was it a little underexplained? kinda, but i could figure it out well enough. the coming back to avenge klao's dad plot was fun, and so was the whole opium thing. i'll be honest here, i didn't 100000% understand the opium plot the whole time. like, a good comparasion is the snake plotline from revenged love. like did i fully get it the whole show? like no, but it got it ENOUGH for me to still have a fucking awesome time. the opium search and trying to find cherd and all that made enough sense for enough of the show for me to be happy. it could have been explained a LITTLE better but once again, i still knew what was going on for the most part. besides, the important parts of the plot made perfect sense, so thats really all that matters to me.

okay, so this has been an absolute glazefest of this show, i get it. i know this review might be hard to take seriously since i havent brought up any major criticisms, but unfortunately i cant bring myself to have an issue with anything in this show. are there some nitpicks i could see others having? sure, absolutely. i could see people hating pim, i could see people thinking the time travel is stupid. i could even see people disliking the ending, and thinking it should have been opened ended or it should have ended with klao and phob never getting together at all. however, i myself dont have these issues. i think that phob and klao getting to live together is such a powerful message about queer love, about how strong it is. i found pim to be a very interesting and important character, and she conveyed how men can control those of weaker social standings. the time travel thing i dont have a big speech to make that seem cool and important, but i thought it was fun like i vibed with it. idk, for all the faults i have seen others pointing out, i just havent felt the same. every tiny issue i see is so inconsequential that the thought barely even crossed my mind while watching.

WOAH. thats a lot of writing. im not reading this back, i really hope there arent any typos or grammar mistakes since i take pride in my writing abilities. i want to wrap this up so if anyone is still reading they can finally rest their eyes and take a breath. let me end with this: i found this show not only to be a fun watch, but to be a meaningful one. this show has left me with this feeling in my chest that very few others have been able to do. it feels like i just finished thamepo, never let me go, boys in love, and my school president all at the same time (these are all my favorite bls in case anyone is curious why i picked those ones). i feel like i laughed with this show, i cried with this show, i held my breath with it, i cowered in fear with it, i did everything with it. i mean this so genuinely when i say this show feels like it was a core part of my life for months. literally every week revolved around friday, because i would get a new episode. letting go of love upon a time is really hard. this sounds soooooo dramatic but its really how i feel. i am so beyond jealous of anyone who waited until the show was over to just binge, because omg you're in for the best time of your life. so to anyone still reading who hasnt watched: RUN BITCH RUN GO WATCH IT NOW PLEASE GO PLEASE GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO YOU WILL LOVE IT RUN GOOO GOGOGOGOGOGOGOG PLEASE!!!! okay im done! :)

10/10 - Absolute Masterpiece!

I just finished the finale Episode, and I am honestly so sad that this journey of waiting for new Episode is over. I used to look forward to new episodes every single Friday, and now it leaves a huge void. To be fair, I don't usually watch historical dramas, but this Series completely blew me away. It is easily one of the best series I have ever seen. Before this, I didn't even know JJ, but his performance along with the entire cast was absolutely phenomenal. On top of that, the music and the soundtrack are incredibly beautiful. Everything about this production is just perfect. I am heartbroken that it's over, but at the same time, I cannot recommend it enough. If you haven't watched it yet, please do yourself a favor and stream it. It deserves all the love! 💖

A Masterpiece Built on Talent, Brought to Life by Net & JJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best work ever made in BL history. I loved every single second of this show. It's a masterpiece from start to finish. The story, acting, characters, music, and cinematography are all absolutely top-notch. Every episode had me completely hooked, and by the end, I was left wanting more.

Now let's talk about Net and JJ because WOW. These two are the heart and soul of this series. Their chemistry is genuinely unreal. Every glance, touch, smile, and emotional moment felt so natural that they didn't just play characters in love—they made you believe in them. They stole every heartbeat of mine, and honestly, I still can't get enough of them.

I've been following Net for a long time, so I've always known how talented he is. I've always believed he's an incredible actor, but for years I felt like he was still waiting for the perfect partner—someone who could truly match his talent, challenge him, and elevate every scene. After watching Love Upon a Time, I can confidently say that person is JJ. No one comes close. JJ is, without a doubt, the best acting partner Net has ever had. Together, they bring out the absolute best in each other, and the result is pure magic on screen.

And then there's JJ. What an absolute revelation. What an actor. He made me laugh, cry, yearn, and fall in love right alongside him. Every emotion felt real. His performance as Klao/Nakhun was extraordinary, and I genuinely cannot imagine anyone else playing this role. He didn't just play the character—he became him. JJ has incredible screen presence, emotional depth, and versatility, and this role proved exactly why he is one of the most exciting actors in the industry right now.

The NC scenes and kisses are some of the best I've ever seen in a BL—not just because they're beautiful, but because they're filled with emotion and intimacy. Every moment between Net and JJ felt authentic, meaningful, and unforgettable.

I also want to appreciate all the side characters because everyone did an amazing job and helped make this story feel alive.

Love Upon a Time has set the bar so high that it'll be incredibly difficult for other shows to catch up. This is the kind of series that reminds you why you fell in love with BLs in the first place. A once-in-a-generation BL.

If this show, Net, and JJ don't sweep the awards this year, then I'll seriously have to question every award show out there.

10/10. A masterpiece. I don't think I'll ever be over this show.

Love that transcends a lifetime

June 12, 2026

Love Upon A Time is that motherfucking Thai BL of the year. Holy plot, it is so well-written. I never read the novel so I have no opinions regarding the adaptation. But as a drama, I must say I never had a boring experience with the show and characters. Phop and Klao/Nakhun really shows how a true great love is. I love this show so much, I am already looking forward to rewatching it in the future. I will miss waiting for Fridays to come just so I can tune in for the newest episode.

The chemistry is amazing, the characters are so well-written and well-rounded. The drama and angst were executed (pun intended) well.

You guys please give Love Upon A Time, the one true greatest love they deserve.

Ps, I can’t wait for more NetJJ and LatteKim projects, I hope they pick up good scripts and plot like this DMD. I am begging you!!!

Please watch it!

First of all, I'd like to applaud this series for doing a specific thing, and that is, grabbing my attention for long!
Usually, when I see 12 episodes with every episode being over an hour, I feel agitated, I'm afraid that it contains a lot of fillers that will eventually make me drop it.

But not this time! The plot, the actors and the pacing are all very comfortable for me.

Plot:
Very interesting time-travel plot, which I usually like. Set in the Ayutthaya period, it gives you an archaic feel. I never watched a historical Thai drama before, and most of the time-travel BL I read were set in ancient China, so I feel glad to have a new experience and learn more about Thai customs!

It has mystery and romance, and it's a bit slow-burn, which I prefer because I usually get bored if the main couple get together or kiss too fast. Here, you're anticipating it, and even after they're together, you don't get bored, because the story isn't over yet! There's still a mystery to solve!

Actors:
I'm glad I finally have the chance to see Net's handsome face on screen once again! And this time with his new partner JJ!
I hope everyone can support this new pair without making a fuss over the previous one, since they fit each other so well!

The acting was amazing and made my heart ache at times, I also loved JJ's comedic expressions haha they're so unique!

As for the longing in their eyes, oh my lord, it made my heart flutter! Especially Net's deep-as-the-ocean eyes ahhhh

Welcoming our new couple, LatteKim, I'd like to praise them very much as well. The thing I liked best about their acting is how different I felt their present vs. past selves to be, I just couldn't see them as the same person!!

I hope these actors get even better scripts in the future, I'm sure filming a historical piece was hard.

Other:
I loved their costumes, of course, and the archaic tone they spoke in. The rolled r's sound very pleasant to my ears and it lets me learn a bit of ancient Thai speaking, which I'm very interested in.

The lightning was gorgeous, it set the mood right. It complemented the chemistry the actors have together, especially, in that iykyk scene hehehehehe I loved it

Shout out to the servant characters who spoke up for our main couple and gave us some comedic relief ;')

Overall:
If you can, please do watch it. I hope that this series can be more popular in the future and give our actors a lot of success :)
It managed to make me finish 12 long episodes, what else can I say? I'm not usually this patient, nor that interested.

Hehe this little historical forbidden love story is very much worth watching!

Ichitan's Ad

I'll admit it, I fell in love with Net in this series. I didn't realize that man is hot AF. 🤭🤭 And Latte... arghhh. Do I even need to explain myself when it comes to these two?

Chemistry-wise, NetJJ and LatteKim are carrying it. Story-wise, it's amazing. They managed to perfectly balance the depth of the story, the comedy, the romance, and of course, the angst. I especially love the JomKaew angst. I'm a sucker for that kind of emotional pain.

As they say, Domundi has done it again. And one thing I always appreciate about DMD is how they handle their NC scenes. They're not driven purely by lust; they're delivered with passion, emotion, and the characters' devotion to each other.

One highlight I'll always remember is how cleverly they squeezed in Ichitan's ads. Seriously, how smart was that? I won't spoil anything, but it's definitely worth the hype.

Highly recommended.
