The Princess diaries but make it gay
Domundi new era and I’m HERE FOR IT.I know this has been one of the most anticipated series for the longest time, and I’ll admit I had high expectations and you know what I was not disappointed. there was apart of me that thought it this was going to be cringe and I’m glad I was wrong.
you can tell so much effort went into this. Now I am a huge DMD fan but I can admit they sometimes lack in the script or in places here and there. but this, this is everything I wanted and more.
music: fantastic
no cringe acting: that’s a plus
so far no silly sound effects: sign me the hell up.
good fight scenes: yes please
and the cinematography is chef’s kiss.
the wait for us to get here took forever, but you know what, the wait was worth it.
plus I NEVER give 10/10 across the board and yet here I did. fingers crossed it doesn’t let me down

Just Beautiful
only watched first episode so far and after rewatching 5 times I can honestly say this is something new. never before seen a Thai series with this much attention to detail and the sheer scale of production never mind the optics and stunning cinematography. The action scenes wouldn’t look out of place in a Holywood block buster. The fantasy empire of Emmanuel needs one of its heir back (Kanin)who has been in hiding in a London uni setting. Very mult-cultural. Charin the special guard is sent to bring him back to Emmaly. has a hint of Disneys Princess diaries for this episode with added filler coaster of emotions. This is listed as BL but will smash any notion or walls as it’s very main stream appealing.

Excellent
"The Next Prince," a Thai Boys' Love (BL) drama, transcends the typical tropes of the genre, delivering a compelling narrative rich with political intrigue, complex characters, and simmering romance. While it certainly caters to the BL fanbase with its central relationship, the series' strength lies in its sophisticated plot and nuanced portrayal of its characters, offering a viewing experience that resonates far beyond the typical romantic storyline. The series centers around the competition to become the next crown prince, a struggle fraught with familial betrayal, political maneuvering, and hidden agendas. Each potential heir possesses unique strengths and weaknesses, forcing viewers to question their allegiances and anticipate the unpredictable twists and turns of the plot. This isn't a simple good versus evil narrative; the characters are multifaceted, their motivations often morally grey, enhancing the overall dramatic tension.
The central romance between the two main characters,NuNew Chawarin Perdpiriyawong and Zeepruk Pnich forms a captivating counterpoint to the political turmoil. Their relationship unfolds gradually, built on a foundation of mutual respect, undeniable chemistry, and shared vulnerability. While the passionate scenes are certainly present, they are interwoven seamlessly into a larger narrative that focuses on character development and the complexities of their relationship within the demanding royal context. This measured approach prevents the romance from overshadowing the richer political elements, ensuring a well-rounded and satisfying story.
The acting performances are consistently strong throughout the series. Khanin and Charan portray their characters with depth and authenticity, making their struggles, triumphs, and emotional complexities believable and engaging. Their ability to convey both the passionate intensity of their romance and the subtle nuances of palace politics is a testament to their talent and contributes significantly to the overall success of the show.
The production quality of "The Next Prince" is evident in the stunning visuals, the meticulous attention to detail in costuming and set design, and the thoughtful cinematography. The visuals effectively establish the opulent world of the royal family, conveying both its grandeur and its underlying tensions. The music further enhances the dramatic effect, underscoring both the romantic moments and the moments of high political tension.
However, the series is not without its minor shortcomings. The pacing in certain episodes might feel slightly uneven, with some subplots feeling a bit rushed or underdeveloped. While the overarching narrative remains cohesive, some viewers might feel a need for more exploration of certain supporting characters or their roles in the grand scheme of the succession.
Despite these minor flaws, "The Next Prince" stands as a remarkable achievement in the BL genre. It successfully blends romantic intrigue with complex political maneuvering, creating a narrative that is both engaging and thought-provoking. The well-developed characters, strong acting performances, and stunning production design all contribute to a viewing experience that is both captivating and rewarding. This is a series that deserves recognition for its unique approach and its ability to elevate the standard of storytelling within the genre. It is highly recommended to anyone looking for a BL drama that offers more than just a simple romance—a series that will stay with you long after the credits roll. It is a must-watch for fans of the genre and newcomers alike. The intricate plot, compelling characters, and beautiful cinematography make it a truly exceptional viewing experience.

I waited almost two years for this.
When the plot first came out, I said, "This is the show for me." Because royal themed series, novels and webtoons immediately draw me in. I love it. When this series was first announced, I immediately went and read the novel. It blew me away. And now I have it in my hands. The first two episodes are out now, but I'm sure ZeeNunew will carry this series. So I'm not worried about it getting worse. I'm sure it's going to be one of the best series in the industry. And it's a first in the industry. I watched both episodes as soon as they came out and I really felt it. The acting and the casting is fantastic. Was this review helpful to you?

First Royal Impression
Three heirs, one throne. In this dangerous competition for the throne of Emmaly, a forbidden romance is about to blossom between the hidden prince and a royal guard and no one is safe when heart and duty clashes in this fight for the throne. Who will be the next prince? Ahhh, I'm so seated for this plot. Also, the grand scale of this drama just called everyone a peasant, and you know what... fair. Cuz, HOLY IMPRESSIVE GRAND QUALITY ROYALTY!! Can y'all spell Budget?First off, Khanin, child, why is you saying no to being a prince? If someone told me I was a prince in this economy, I'd have been like: 'A prince prince? With my whole castle and everything prince? Dude, say less, I'm in.' No, really, they don't even have tell me the name of the country or nothing. Matter fact, just point me in the direction of where it is, and I'll walk there myself. This child was out there sobbing and wailing and angry. Understandable giving everything, but like, the title came with a hunky handsome royal guard. Nah fam, if he don't want it, I volunteer as tribute. This child playing with his blessings.
Honestly, I’m so impressed and stunned by how grand this drama is. Like, imma need us all to stop saying "it’s a Thai bl drama, what did you expect?" when it comes to quality cuz HELLO are you seeing this with your eyeballs, Susan?? Everything from the outfits, locations, set designs, music to the cast is so beautifully done and detailed to perfection. The grand-ness-ness is majestic as hell. And this is coming from Domundi, you know, leader of giving us meh and cringe. Them delivering this level of quality have me shock. If not for anything imma need this to win every production award ever cuz, hello!
Anyway, I went into this with high expectations, no really, I was chanting, 'please don't suck, please don't embarrass me and my ancestors, we've waited years for this,' cuz I was so hyped for it. Funny though, at first I didn't have any expectations, cuz I saw the first pictures of Charan and Khanin in those royal outfit that looked like they were purchased from temu and went, wow that's the look we going with huh? But thank the fuck they actually took their time and delivered this final project, cuz I enjoyed every moment of this episode. My condolences and congratulations to all those who waited 3 whole arse years. I feel your pain. But the wait was so worth it!
FIRST IMPRESSION
This show in short is about an average guy who finds out he's a prince and is thrown into the fight for the throne. And there's fencing. It's a different plot from the many high school bls we've been getting so already it's a win in my book.
Not gonna lie, I have no idea what fencing is about, but from the little we saw it seems you just poke your pointy stick thingy at the other's head and then they poke back, and some dude shuts something in french, so yeah, sports and stuff. Good for Khanin...Kenneth for winning, yaaay...confetti.
What I liked:
-- How easy it was to understand the backstory of the fictional kingdom of Emmaly.
-- The rich, royal and beautiful aesthetics and overall regal aura. My eyes were blessed from the little glimpse of the royal kingdom we saw. Everything about this drama screams MONEY. The budget was indeed budgeting.
-- Charan on the horse. Charan in that bathrobe. Don't asking me the color of nothing about what that scene was about, they knew what theys was doing putting him in that robe, and frankly, I respect that.
-- The fight scene was really well done and beautiful shot too, mostly I skip them, but I stayed through all the fancy poses and grunts. It was giving high budget action scene.
-- Loved how unimpressed Charan was during that fencing match. He was like, are y'all being real right now? Lol.
-- That first meeting between Khanin and Charan. But like, did that handsome guard have to humble Khanin like that? I'm loving the banter between them so far, so very much.
-- 'He's your type.'
-- That one kiss that basically means Khanin is married now. Lmao, I'm asking people what kisses mean in their countries from now on. Though, looking at Charan... on second thought, some mistakes are worth it. Congratulations on the forever bond Khanin. I was laughing during the explanation scene with the father, lmao that awkward drinking water part, stop child, you gonna pop.
-- Khanin breaking down when he learned that his father wasn't his biological dad. His emotions were so raw. I got emotional when Khanin's father bowed down to him and put that distance between them. Understandable that he broke down in tears and begged him to stay being his father. Seems we gonna need tissues for this show.
-- Khanin saying no to being a prince and giving me Princess Mia vibes.
-- Khanin and that vase, lol XD.
-- The overall enemies to lovers tropes I'm getting from the leads. I can't wait to see how it plays out, cuz you know it's gonna be good when they start off not liking each other.
What I was hmm on:
-- Nunew's english was so nice and pretty. Zee's improvement surprised me too and I was very happy hearing them hold it down. But that one friend who looked like delicious dessert and sounded like burnt popcorn though... dude why? And it’s not even the accent but the dialogue itself. Who wrote that dialogue, cuz it added to the stiff awkwardness of it all.
-- The obvious ad placement. Hopefully we don't get just an obvious ad placement in the royal setting cuz that would be unfortunate. Can you imagine them trying to sell seaweed snack during the coronation ceremony? Thanks for the sponsorship that gave us this high production, but I'll legit cry if they ruin the regal aura with obvious ads.
-- The episode was too short, release everything you've filmed now ^^
What I'm looking forward to:
- The competition for the throne! Can't watch for the royal intrigue and backstabbing, it's gonna be amazing. I'll make popcorn and wine while watching.
- The beautiful aesthetics of the sets. I am ready to immerse myself in this royal aura.
- Meeting the other cast members and seeing what they bring to the table. From the trailer they are all about to give us drama, and I am seated for the ride.
- How Khanin and Charan goes from guard and prince to lovers. It's probably gonna hurt, but that's what tissues are for.
- How Khanin adjusts to being a prince, living in the castle and coming to Emmaly. It's gonna be interesting seeing how he adjust to the change in status and meeting his new family after losing his current one.
- Who is after Khanin now and why.
- The coronation, it looked so beautiful in the trailer and oh, that dance between Charan and Khanin. Oh, and the outfits and the butler and the... you know what, I am looking forward to everything. ^^
Overall, the first episode was an exposition, ground work, slow pace but still setting the scene for what is coming next. It did a good job introducing us to the main character's current background, which is gonna help us understand the vast change when he arrives in Emmaly. Novel readers would be happy seeing the story comes to life. I was when I saw Zee and Nunew brought their characters to life, made me emotional, they embodied them so well. Perhaps it would have felt more complete as an opening if they'd released the first two episodes at once, but this just makes me wanna tune in next week, so we good. Also, it's a huge win Domundi didn't give us any of their signature dumb sound effects and childish nonsense, so I cheer.
All-in-all, I'm very excited for this drama and highly recommend it to all bl lovers. We are starting with 8 stars and see where we go from there. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
Enjoy the show royal subjects of Emmaly.

The Next Prince Bride hehe
Ep 2 was off da hook! The opening sequence alone was like Mission Impossible, I got chills lol. Ok not MI but it was thrilling to watch for a BL, you get me. Now that chemistry that we all fell in love with during Cutie Pie, well she’s back with a vegence 🔥🔥🔥baby is burnin. The pace in this episode is very different to the first one. I noticed the series has received quite a few negative 1 and 1.5 star reviews because they didn’t think the pace was good and that the environment wasn’t royal enough. Well folks you get pace, you get baddies, you get a hilarious taxi driver, you get romance on an airplane, romance in a late night book shop, you get to watch Zee being a macho man AND taking his top off and, o yes, you get Royalty, I mean c’mon King Nirut, Thai acting royalty at its best.
O and the tears, the tears 💧💧💧and that was just me lol our poor teerak Khanin has to pull them out twice.
Who was the the taxi driver? Hilarious.
Like: you’re probably not gonna believe this, but the opening credits are the Thai version of Game of Thrones. I sh$t you not. There’s a TNP world coming and I think more series are being lined up, you heard it here first.
Not so much: the scene changes and background mood music in a couple of spots is a little jarring. I mentioned it during ep 1 and again I believe it’s because of the timeframe and getting it edited on time. I personally have been in series and TVCs and I know that background noise just naturally or from filming a scene in a public area can be extremely difficult to edit out. I also mentioned before that IQIYI can update episodes so I imagine in further post production they may fix these bits and re-upload, but don’t wait get that subscription stat.
Funny/weird moment: Lavatories sounded like laboratories, try saying it like that, it’s hilarious ie instead of lav-it-tree, la-vor-ra-tory soooo cute.
Best scene/s - Nunew literally being a puppy 🥺🐶. Pahahahahaha the train scene, Zee with a MO 🤣.
Watch the cast reaction video here: https://youtu.be/73DroIOrYZs?si=SfiSVrXJyakuobrE
Ep 1 was intriguing, the sets were larger in scale than anything we’ve seen before. Given it begins between London and the fictitious Emmaly we are immediately immersed into Khanin’s world.
Like: The scale, you really can’t get past the level
of character detail this BL has gone through in creating this world, it really is next level, from the fencing apparatus and locker room, to the family crests, colours and emblems. Can’t wait to see more of this after only one episode.
Not so much: In a couple of the scene changes you can hear an audible clunk in the music/background noise, a bit of a surprise from this company who normally don’t miss that kind of detail. I can only assume that in order to get the episode in on time this could have happened however I do know that Iqiyi do reloads, so down the track might actually get replaced with a cleaner version.
Without giving anything else away, the story has begun.
Iqiyi - what was kind of annoying is that you could watch ep 1 on Youtube at exactly the same time as on Iqiyi, however, they’ve said only for ep 1 so we shall see.
The OST track ‘Above’ is here: https://youtu.be/nOnvysr64Yc?si=x8d6CcOTFjRKQWj-
It’s a signature sounding track with his usual song writing collaborator Amp. I’m hoping there will be a more fuller, harder track also.
The 2 trailers we have been given were both outstanding so I am excited for the series to start.
I am especially impressed by the costumes for this. They are very specific, very grand where they need to be and very purposeful ie fencing looks, guard looks etc when they need to be.
The inclusion of some of Thailand’s most well known and loved actors is a real bonus for us with some of them participating in their very first BL series and mentioning they accepted the roles immediately because of Zee and to balance this softer track. Nunew!
I’ll be giving a per episode review and background once it starts.
Here is the latest trailer in case you missed it:

Amazing!
The Next Prince is genuinely such a strong start from the very first episode, it’s clear how much love and effort went into this series.Nunew’s acting has grown so much! He brings so much emotion and depth to every scene. We can feel everything he's trying to say, even in the quietest moments. It's such a joy to watch him evolve as an actor.
And Zee? His action scenes are so cool and smooth, he makes it look effortless… definitely one of the standouts of the series so far.
The cinematography is also stunning. Every shot feels intentional, and setting looks rich, detailed, and cinematic. This series isn’t just visually stunning, it’s pushing Thai BL to the next level. Ambitious, emotional, beautifully crafted!

The Next Prince
Absolutely in love with this series so far! I feel like the first episode did such a nice job of introducing the main characters, especially Khanin. I love the little intro about the foundation of the kingdom as well seeing the reason why Khanin was hidden in the first place. They’ve already shown us a glimpse of the dynamics of the main couple and I’m totally here for it! Also, Nunew has improved so much since CP, the scene where he found about and he was crying brought me to tears! I’m so excited to watch the rest of the series and seriously looking forward to the next 13 episodes! Was this review helpful to you?
