WHERE ARE THE VAMPIRES???
Okay, so, I was like: This is a comedy show, almost like a vampire parody at first, and I'm not gonna lie, it was entertaining at first. Ok Taec Yeon and Won Jian were amazing, especially in those funny scenes, and as a couple they were good as well.BUT what the actually "not so bloody" hell was the rest? I get that our main guy wants love and all, and he won't kill people, because he's a nice vampire, but for the love of God, this is a show about a vampire, and we didn't have A SINGLE ONE vampire who actually act like a real vampire!
I mean, that Man Hwi guy did some things, but that's all. He was obsessed with money, and let those two other morons to threat him like a nobody. A real vampire would've killed them both already. Don't tell me, he's keeping all those people in his cells, but let two billionaires to threat him like that.
The plot was a MESS. The show only worked when it was comedy, and not serious. They should've done that for all season.
I could tear apart the whole plot, but it would take more time than writing this Kdrama.
I only rate this to a 6/10, because the actors were great, and overall it was decent.
I don't really care about the ending, tho, because that's the only thing that was actually surprising and good.
I watched so many vampire movies and shows, even American shows on The CW, but even those weren't as bad this one. I'm not sure if The CW would pick up something like this, even tho, that nonsense Vampire Diaries was a mess, as well.
I don't think I've seen any good Korean movie or show about vampires yet. Maybe they just can't do it.
So much potential was wasted!

HeartBreak
This was Goblin all over again but the lead up to the ending wasn't as good. Why do Kdramas insist on rarely having happy endings? I kept watching through the finale hoping they would find a way to save him... seriously? he waited for her for over 100 years and then he just dies and they only had, what? a month together? Just give us a happy ending on the supernatural dramas for once, please! I'm still heartbroken years after Goblin and this was too much :''''(Was this review helpful to you?

twas A GOOD ENDING - do not despair my friends
I really enjoyed the the fresh take into such a niche story genre. I thought the writers did a pretty good job overall though there are some aspects of the story that I hoped that they'd explore and play around with further. There were numerous scenes that made me burst out laughing while the ending dried out all my tears.
The ending was good & pretty straightforward to me.
It was after reading the reviews from MDL, only then I realised that the ending was "open" in the sense that people had analysed it in many different ways.
Here's my take :
1. That Woo Hyeol (Taecyeon) did end up becoming human and reuniting with In Hae(Ji An), then running the guest house together for the rest of their lives. --- Though the writers didn't specify how or when, the ending scene had in my opinion implied that possibility rather clearly. WooHyeol was standing at his fave indoor balcony looking down on In Hae. The picture on their wall was the picture they took from their beach date (indicating they're still in the present timeline)
2. Do Sik did not drink Woo Hyeol's blood (many think he did as per reviews). I'd like to believe that he's a decent person touched by Woo Hyeol's sacrifice. Implying from his donation speech, I think he's still bound to his curse.

The Drama That Went From Fantasy Fun to Melodramatic Mess: Taecyeon Deserves Better!
Never had there been such a letdown from deceptive marketing. Before its release, the drama was hyped as a fun, fantasy romantic comedy starring 2PM's Taecyeon. Fans, familiar with Taec's quirky and entertaining persona, thought this role was tailor-made for him. The first few episodes met expectations, but the series quickly lost its charm. It became mired in repetitive, dull plotlines. The worst part? It took a sharp turn into a melodramatic mess. I found myself asking, "What am I watching? What is happening?"Did the studio suddenly pull the funding? Did the writer vanish? Even the production value plummeted. The latter half of the drama was confined to a mansion-turned-B&B, a setting more suited to a daytime soap opera. The only redeeming aspect of the second part was the vampire gang—they were amusing, supportive, and loyal to the male lead. Beyond that, it was a chaotic mess.
Taec, you deserve better than this. Please be more selective with your future projects.

Cool series
📖 Synopsis & ContextSeon Woo-hyeol (Ok Taec-yeon) is a half-vampire, half-human who’s been trying to become fully human for centuries. He attempts to complete his transformation by sleeping in a coffin for 100 years, but is accidentally awakened one day early by Joo In-hae (Won Ji-an), a cold and practical nurse who inherited his mansion. This sparks a forced cohabitation, a romantic entanglement, and a journey of self-discovery.
🎭 Acting
Ok Taec-yeon shines in a very different role from his villainous character in Vincenzo. He blends humor, old-world charm, and vulnerability, making Woo-hyeol a memorable character.
Won Ji-an delivers a solid female lead performance. She begins as cold and self-sufficient but slowly reveals a deeper emotional side. She even won the Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards for this role.
😄 Comedy & Chemistry
The comedy is one of the show’s strongest aspects: Woo-hyeol is amazed by modern technology—like kiosks and smartphones—and his reactions are genuinely funny.
His relationship with In-hae evolves naturally from antagonism to romance, with good chemistry and clever interactions.
🧩 Strengths
Fresh take on the genre: A vampire drama that leans more into comedy and romance than horror or action.
Well-rounded characters: Both leads and supporting characters (like Do-sik and Hae-won) are given emotional depth.
⚠️ Weaknesses
The second half loses momentum, becoming overly melodramatic and somewhat disconnected; certain plot resolutions feel forced.
The ending especially divided viewers—many found it disappointing, abrupt, or inconsistent with the tone of the earlier episodes.
Reddit Reactions
“The ending is disappointing, and there’s a lot of WTF moments.”
“The finale ruined everything… HEARTBREAK 💔”
Still, some viewers enjoyed its quirky tone:
“It’s silly and funny... just fun and will make you laugh.”

Final score: 7/10. A charming rom-com with lovable characters and a fantasy twist, though its weak ending undermines what it builds early on.
✅ Is It Worth Watching?

A light, fun romantic comedy with a vampire twist.
Lovable characters and solid lead chemistry.
No, if you prefer:
Tight, coherent plots with satisfying endings.
A consistent pace throughout the series.
🗓️ Key Info
Aired: June 26 – August 15, 2023 (16 episodes).

🔚 Conclusion
Heartbeat is a gem for fans of romantic Korean comedies with fantasy elements. The performances stand out, and the early humor makes up for the later narrative stumbles. Watch it for the charm of the first 12 episodes and enjoy it for what it is—not for what it could have been.

Need more work to do
Script was good but need more work to execute it properly . So much stretched the story . It would fine if it would be 10 episodes 's drama. Two - three episodes were funny.
Basically story had not charm . A love tory of vampire who wanted to be human for his love but vampir proposes and God disposes.
Nothing happened at the end . I watched it till end to know that was there a happy ending in the drama ? But the drama end with a big disappointment . Not because of the sad ending but because of the unsatisfied ending.

"Heartbeat" follows Woo Hyul, who's a vampire that fell in love with a human woman. To be with her, he tried to become human by doing a 100 days sleep challenge. In Hae is a woman that receive his house as inheritance and breaks his sleep, stopping the process and turning Woo Hyul into a half-human.First of all, I have to admire the choice to put Taecyeon in the role of a vampire, avoiding this ridiculous standard that the character needs to be pale and perfectly beautiful, like the image in a painting. Taecyeon is beautiful, extremely hilarious and was perfect in the role, I couldn't ask for anyone better <3
The problem with the drama was Won Ji Ahn, I couldn't like this actress at all. It seemed like she had the same facial expression when she was happy or sad, she remained the same, I couldn't even believe the romance, because there was no chemistry between them.
I'm not saying that she should smile all the time, like the typical suffering character in dramas, who even going through the biggest tragedies remains happy and good, because that's not very realistic, but it was difficult to understand In Hae, what she was feeling, it was as if I was watching a robot that is trying to imitate something, without completely knowing what that feeling was!
The story is good, as is its development. If they had cast another actress, the result would have been completely different.

A Vampiric Letdown – Carried Only by Ok Taec Yeon
This drama falls short in almost every department—except for Ok Taec Yeon, who makes a convincing vampire and is arguably the only saving grace here. The storyline is thin, with very little suspense or depth, and the female lead’s lackluster acting does little to lift the plot.Ok Taec Yeon plays a vampire longing to become human. To achieve this, he’s sealed in a coffin for a hundred years, only to be accidentally awakened early by the new owner of the house aka the female lead Won Ji An—a move that delays his transformation. While the setup had potential, it ends up feeling like a watered-down version of Twilight, which in hindsight seems more gripping.
The drama tries to juggle romance, fantasy, and supernatural themes but fails to commit fully to any of them. There’s barely any chemistry between the leads, and the emotional stakes are non-existent. The second male lead, quirky inn guests, and random subplots do little to salvage the show. To top it off, the ending is anything but satisfying, leaving you with a sense of "what was the point?"
If you're a die-hard Ok Taec Yeon fan, you might want to give this a go just for him. Otherwise, it's an easy pass.

Totally hilarious and awesome!
I’ve been waiting long time for this drama because of Ok Taecyeon and after watch it totally worth it! Taecyeon never disappointed us. The storyline is funny, and all the actors cooperate and connected to each other very well.At first I don’t like the female lead because I think she is just a really plain lady with a plain face but after watch the first 20 minutes, now I finally understand why the producer choose Wo Ji An. She still young but she is a really good actress.
Taecyeon character as a vampire really suits him. I don’t know why but that kind of character really suits him well. Taecyeon carry out very well and no doubt about it! I can’t wait for next episode and I’m trying to wait patiently. Oh! One more character that take my attention is ‘cat man’. I thought he’s just a street cat but he played important role also.
For those who need something light and funny to watch, please watch this drama. It really makes me happy and cannot stop smiling + laughing! Applause!
