"Deep Ocean" is the kind of film that demands attention to grasp all its nuances. Not only because it's a short film, but also because the scenes don't unfold in chronological order.

It subtly touches upon recurring themes related to romantic interests. We ponder why some people cling to relationships that are destined to fail, why some continue to love those who don't reciprocate their feelings, why it's so challenging to move on, and why others feel the need to be hurtful in their rejection.

Towards the end, I found myself wondering if the protagonist had managed to set aside his emotions. Did he bury them deep within himself to move forward? I like to believe that he will be able to move on, not forgetting this teenage love, but rather gaining a deeper understanding of who he is, a talented swimmer among other things.

To conclude, the short film has potential, it's not bad, it just didn't take me away emotionally.

Too short yet...

I love the way it is made, kept my attention.

Too short for any real development.

On the artsy side, this movie leaves a space for interpretation and allows individual to finish it in its own imagination. Loved the colors, and the frames are interesting. I am not entirely sure about some editing, but overall it was really good. I felt the melancholia and depression lingering in the air and water so it really made me feel something.

I was half asleep but stayed awake till the end. That is really important information because I can sleep standing in a public transportation. I am not easily kept awake. Also as a huge water and swimming fan this was pleasing, because I do fell sort of cleanse when I am in water.

I think this could be very good movie (at least an hour long). I would totally make one lol

Depressing, confusing, exhausting and... very blue science fiction short film

On high school graduation day, young Fan Lai throws himself into the Pacific Ocean and memories of Tao-Yang Cheng return.
Lai has a secret love for Cheng, but Cheng already has a girlfriend. Lai is forced to reveal his feelings for Cheng and the nightmare begins.
On graduation day, should Lai let the sea take him away?
Using the Depression, Blue and Ocean trilogy, in his debut feature, To Kao films a depressing, confusing, exhausting and... very blue science fiction short film.
The film has great potential and cinematography, but I find the story too classic and disappointing.
I can immediately realize that it was all a dream. The short film is worth seeing for the use of water as a metaphor, for the incredible view of the sea, for the beautiful photography.
In the film, the filmmaker who graduated from Kun Shan University in Tainan, Taiwan, addresses the theme of unrequited love that turns everyday high school life into a thriller, but I don't find it satisfying or memorable as a whole.
In my opinion, the biggest flaw (unless it was a pointless art film) is that the story doesn't try to leave a message. If the meaning were a message, maybe everything would be memorable, even if it were a dream.
