Although the genre (high school romance) isn't really my favorite (on the one hand, I'm probably too old for it, LOL; and on the other hand, my favorite genres are rather comedy, iyashikei, horror, mystery, etc.), nevertheless I actually liked this lil' movie that definitely managed to exceed my expectations: the story is clean, straight-forward and nice, the leads are both very good and so is the "packaging" (directing, editing, photography, music,...).
Totally solid 8/10!

Exaggerated Movie by Many Reviewers
In general, the story are solid. But that's it. Another things about this movie are basic. For somebody who's looking for funny awkward romance by teenager, you can pick this one. But if you looking for something full of emotion, hard working protagonist, or hiding value from the movie, forget it!The acting only rely on facial features. It's too much. They label it as romance, yet it's more like awkward romance. More to add is this movie also rely on beautiful scenery as a background. IMO Hiyori Sakurada acting are stiff and every reaction are far-fetched. She maybe thought that with pouting lips she'll be recognize as cute girl. The male actor are ironically doing same things. Doing something like 'cool guy' things is so yesterday. He looks like idiot that don't know how to express emotion well.

Loved it!
I just loved this movie. As a fan of High School tropes this had it all, and not a in a cliché way. The actors were perfect, the big reveal delivered, and I liked seeing the development of the FL.Only thing missing was an earlier reveal with a big "ehhhhh?" from their classmates, but it wasn't that kind of movie.

A Perfect Young Adult Romance Movie
the chemistry b/w the leads was really good.I love an angsty storyline and it was done perfectly without going overboard.I did not dislike a single character in this movie like I did not expect Nozomi's ex to also be a good guy like what?😂 I just sometimes got irritated by the female lead but I gradually understood why she is like this but I would've liked it if they would've showed a little backstory kind of thing like they mentioned Setoyama's. But nonetheless,a must watch movie for sure!___

Simple yet beautiful
It's such a cute movie. The storyline is simple yet beautiful.Acting/ Casting:
Honestly, I watched this movie solely for Fumiya Takahashi. I discovered him on TikTok and fell in love with his smile and dubbing videos of anime. He looks so charming in them. I wanted to learn more about him, which is why I decided to give one of his projects a chance. And he didn't disappoint me. In fact, I fell in love with the entire cast. All of them performed exceptionally well.
Music:
I didn't focus much on the music. It had slightly background music. The songs they used fit everywhere. The songs made the movie interesting.
Rewatch Value:
I'm not one to rewatch dramas, but this one is exceptional. I will definitely watch it again.

If you like simple, straightforward, heart warming romance, you will want to watch this one
10/10 is my rating. This is a 2023 Japanese Romantic movie with a run time of 110 minutes. It is based on novel "Kokan Uso Nikki" by Iiyo SakuraFirst I provide a unique synopsis then review
Synopsis
When 2nd year high school student, Nozomi Kuroda (Hiyori Sakurda) finds a confession letter in her desk, she cannot believe it is from Jun Setoyama (Fumiya Takahashi) the most popular boy at the high school. Although not sure what to do at first, Nozomi writes a reply and leaves it with Jun’s gym shoes. After they exchange notes a couple of times, Jun starts his reply in a diary and writes if they fill up the diary they will date. Just when she starts to feel a connection, Nozomi learns that the letter that started it all was actually intended for her best friend, Erino Matsumoto (Mizuki Kayashima). Embarrassed by the mistake but also starting to have feelings for Jun, Nozomi decides to continue the exchange. Nozomi discovers that Jun is able to readily express his thoughts and feelings and his transparency causes her to learn to be more open herself. Nozomi and Jun also start to see each other more frequently in person as their friend groups overlap and Nozomi struggles to hide her romantic feelings for Jun. When the deception is eventually revealed, will Jun’s feelings on paper translate to genuine love for Nozomi? Or will he be disappointed he was not writing Erino after all?
Review
I loved this movie. It was a slow build, heartfelt romance. I appreciate it did not have all the over-the-top displays of physical contact and there was nothing “woke” in the storyline. I would watch it again and highly recommend it to anybody that is a fan of heartwarming romances. There were even some surprises in the plot so it was well written enough to add some intrigue.

A cute and simple high school love story.
Although I have been watching NE Asian dramas for a long time, and therefore have seen this exact theme many times before, I will forever eat it up in jmovies. Idc if it's overused or whatnot- it's fun to watch and a great time pass. I could see this movie being a good comfort movie because it's nothing too complex, yet not boring or badly written either.I must mention Takahashi Fumiya's acting was better than I expected. He's very capable of expressing Setoyama's subtle emotions like the little smirks or the hints of worry which was very impressive, especially after finding out he's only 23 years old. I'd love to see him in more romance movies or dramas.

Cuteness overloaded
This movie is too cute I can't. Couple has so much chemistry and both are so sweet individually, I wish this partnership was made into a drama instead of a movie so we had more chance and more scenes to watch. Highly recommend the movie. Unlike other 2 jdramas I watched, there is no "overreaction" or "any crying worthy" scenes in this one. Hopefully we will see this couple in a drama in futureWas this review helpful to you?

Average
Honestly, this one was average at best. It's like a typical romance that I often see in some novels or dramas. The storyline is nothing special to me. I just like the youthful feeling it gives and I guess the cast? They're cute. The storyline, on the other hand, contains no complicated plot. There may be a second male lead, but after getting rejected, he was like "Okay. Bye bye, Good luck." Also! I know the male lead is characterized as straightforward, but he really should learn how to say it nicely. Though he apologized for it, what he said hurt (really). Anyway, overall, it's a good movie I think (though it does not belong to one of my favorites), especially when you are in the mood for a not-so-complex plot, like you just want to see something romantic for a moment. Also! One good thing about it is that it's pretty much a story that flows naturally, so it does not feel rushed that much.

I WISH THERE'S MORE
i was just looking for something to watch and i ran into this one clip from the movie on yt shorts so i decided to watch it.i was not really expecting anything other than its a teen drama on a school setting. at first i was honestly bored and was thinking twice if i should continue but when i felt the main characters chemistry BROOOOO i decided to continue.
its somewhat fun!! i enjoyed it and its not bad at all. some scenes are funny lol. so if you're looking for just a go to teen concept to watch i think this is worth the try.
for the main characters, i felt the chemistry which is one of the things that im really looking for in a drama so they gave me that. they're cute!!
the story itself, its kinda fast and rush for me but its a movie soooooo?? and the ending:( i wish there's more like i want to see them dating something like that u know bc i feel like i dont know anything about the characters yet but they ended it with a typical kissing scene and thats it. thats why i was like i wish this is a series😭
overall, its cute, its fun but nothing really stuck into u (u know what i meaaan?) but still im glad i watch it! ♡

Warm hug in TV form for ussss!!!
So, imagine this drama where Satoyema is the most honest dude ever. He never hides his feelings and is super friendly all the time – like a human teddy bear. And Nozomi, she's into him, but get this, she still roots for her friend. Talk about a heart of gold! Then there's Erina, the friend who gets it. She's there through thick and thin, and you can't help but love her. The drama, 'Our Secret Diary,' is not your typical mushy romance. It's cute, it's real, and it's like a chill pill for your soul.
It's basically a warm hug in TV show form. If you're into stories that feel like real life, messy and all, 'Our Secret Diary' is your jam. Trust me, it's like comfort food for your emotions – cozy and satisfying!
