Here for the plot of the show

I am completely sold on this show. The first few episodes convinced me that the show has a lot to offer. I mainly like how the plot progresses. I've been watching historical dramas these days and more often, female leads are often described as smart, wise, and independent yet I often saw how impulsive they may get and the male leads are more than willing to do the saving. Flourished Peony is different. The fl here bravely navigates the unknowns and the difficult times of her life. The male lead helped her a few times but those situations needed his authority. I'm excited for the upcoming episodes. I hope this show will remain its greatness till the end.

For me ,it is a dull story.

Flourished Peony revolves around a girl who is forced to marry a man against her will. Her mother is ill, and the medicine needed for her treatment is controlled by the boy’s family. They agree to provide the medicine only if she marries the boy and transfers her mother’s property to them after the marriage. She agrees to the marriage, determined to make it work.

However, she later discovers that the boy’s family has no intention of helping her mother. Realizing their deceit, she begins to look for a way to get a divorce. Initially, the boy dislikes her, but as he observes her hard work and determination, he starts to soften and eventually develops feelings for her.

Despite his efforts, the girl remains resolute in her decision to divorce him. She never reciprocates his feelings and consistently rejects his advances. Parallel to this, she focuses entirely on building her peony business.

I found the roles of Li You Zhen and the male lead to be underdeveloped and unjustified. Overall, I didn’t enjoy the story much.

Exciting couple Zang Yi and Li Xian

I was attracted to this couple since their
First episodes Go Squid. They are amazing when they play couple in a drama. The storyline is strong and the characters are well builted. Can’t stop loving them as their story continues <3

flourished Love

Yang zi has been known as queen of ratings. top flow 90s one of four Dan actress. I knew not why people say such things. as I not watch many dramas of her. but after watching just the six episodes. I see how she can be called this. the drama is so good. acting from everybody even the evil people is the 100 percent. everybody brought their best to this artwork. you don’t not have to be fan to like actors in drama. but you can’t say this is not a masterpiece of art. it has topple mind and I am now a bigger fan of yang zi, li xian, and miles.

The characters stole the show

I really enjoyed watching The Flourished Peony! The main male lead (ML) absolutely stole the show for me — he was so expressive, funny, and genuinely charming. His comedic timing and the way he delivered even the smallest expressions made him such a standout character. The banter and chemistry between the leads were amazing and felt really natural, which made their interactions so fun to watch.

One of the things I appreciated most was how their love developed gradually. It wasn’t rushed or overly dramatic; instead, we got to see them fall for each other slowly and realistically, which made it all the more satisfying. That said, I do wish there had been a bit more romance shown after their marriage — it felt like that part could have used more emotional and romantic moments to round things out.

Still, none of the characters felt over-the-top or dull. They were balanced well — not too extra, but never underwhelming either. The story had a great mix of humor, heartfelt moments, and subtle romance. Overall, The Flourished Peony is a lovely drama worth watching, especially if you enjoy slow-burn romances with great chemistry and a genuinely fun male lead.

This show was amazing. I adored the way that the women supported each other, I think the writers really understood the kind of sisterhood that women go through. The characters relationships and the way everyone grew together was beautiful, and I adore that Jiang Changyang supported He Weifang in her business and her life. I usually have a bad habit of skipping through episodes, but I took my time to truly admire this show because of how lovely I found the story. I can't wait to watch the second season.

9.5 — i love women

it’s always been in my watchlist so i can’t believe it took me so long to start this series!

i really loved mudan’s character & how she was sooo strong despite everything she’s been through, but it’s not (like the usual stuff we see in other shows where it’s) forced and stiff—she allows herself to feel and be upset about the pain, only then does she get back up.

i actually like the slowburn and how it really focuses on mudan being her own person rather than it being solely about the romance, but the little crumbs were very much appreciated! they were so cute and it was really nice to see how they found comfort in each other, and jiang changyang steps in only when needed—he knows mudan is capable enough to handle things, but is still always ready to give a hand when it’s out of her control.

speaking of handling problems, this show is really good at making you feel so pissed and then evening it out but giving you a great sense of satisfaction because the antagonists (and it’s mostly MEN) get what they deserve. i also love how mudan’s not portrayed as a saint who shows mercy to everyone and allows them to be fairly punished for their wrongdoings—rightfully so, because they’re just pure evil!

and then the womennnnn!!! the main reason why i really started this was because i saw reviews of how it touches on women empowerment. it’s definitely biased, but this contributes for 8.0 of my rating and the rest makes up the 1.5 LOL

i honestly would’ve given this a 10/10 rating but i personally did feel like it was getting a bit repetitive near the end that i just started skipping/putting the show on 2x speed during the parts where it showed the antagonists and mudan going through it again. by this time i already know mudan will outsmart them, so i didn’t really feel like feeling annoyed at the characters (the actors are greatttt at getting on your nerves! i love all of them, they’re amazing).

overall, this was such a great experience that i literally binged the whole thing in 2 and a half days, but i don’t think i’ll be rewatching it because so many characters pissed me off that i can’t bear to go through it again.

A drama to remember

Flourished Peony is a story about friendship, love, trust , betrayal and happiness.
A male lead that know a woman’s worth and actually listen SIGHN ME UP. I cannot wait S2, this was so good, their friendship was truly wonderful and this was one of the best fml and ML relationship i have seen in a while. I could care less about them being together just give me more of them.

it was good ep 1 - 4 and 18 plus. and this is not a stand alone with out season 2.

The first episodes with the husband and princess were quite riveting. But then it leveled off. The ML and FL had no chemistry or honest moments until ep 17. Before that there was smirky sarcastic banter, which is ok, I guess but for 16 episodes, it got old. A that point I really didn't care about whether or not they got together.
And I really didn't care at all about the ML.

The characters that had me riveted were the husband -- actor did a FANTASTIC job, and he stole every scene he was in; at first I wanted her to start to like him, until the horrible things that came out of his mouth (tiny spoiler: "Why are you so upset that a servant died?") You really can't come back from that. Later I was riveted to the domestic abuse victim and her husband. Actors portrayed those roles brilliantly in stark, heartbreaking reality.

Finally in Ep 27 it got up to my standard of 7 to 8ish for one of these big dramas, but I still can't forgive it for being dull from ep 4 through 17.

The ex-husband? Remember when I said a minute ago (8 episodes ago in my time) that I wanted him to be likeable? Yeah. That ended in the ep 20s. He deserves every slice of hell he goes through. Idiot refuses to walk on his own two feet and make his own decisions. Always upset that mummy, daddy and princess are making him do what he doesn't want to do....you know what cures that?? STOP DOING IT! But NO! He caves AGAIN!!! How many times is this? How long must viewers endure??? But that shows you how well the 2ML actor killed it for me to be able to hate his GUTS! (I've only ever seen that actor play a mild mannered ceo or teacher. He must have enjoyed doing this role.)

By the end of the drama, we see a variety of women dealing with various circumstances and ill treatment, due to rampant misogyny, and how they tried to survive or overcome their circumstance using a variety of methods. But again, up until ep 20, I wasn't really riveted to their stories. Maybe because the early ones were more lighthearted. they are not all happy endings wrapped up in a bow. The writers show us the especially when the FLs are given a choice that would set them free, but because of self loathing, fear of society (rape, slavery, domestic abuse), fear of succeeding, they choose not to do it. Some of the stories are quite powerful. When we're screaming at the TV, "TAKE DOOR A!!!!! TAKE THE FREEDOM!!!! GO!!!! DO IT NOW!!!" and they don't, you can only imagine a tiny bit how terrifying it would have been for a woman in those days. The FL? I can't say she's one of my favorite characters or actresses but whenever she is subjected to evil -- and it's a lot -- she OWNS the screen -- and survives and turns it in her favor.

For the poor suckers who watched this then had to wait for "Season 2" aka In the Name of Blossom - the Sequel, I feel for them. It is not a proper story without season 2. It just stops. No cliffhanger no nothing. For those on the fence, if you can bear the middle episodes, I'd recommend it. In 3rd episode of the sequel now and it's quite good.

One of the best Chinese period drama ever!!!!

I wasn't quite keen on watching a Chinese period drama as it all seemed quite they same. This one I happened to watch only because of the lead couple who I enjoyed watching in "Go Go Squid." Hence, watched the first episode but to my surprise this was so different from the other period drama, it was enchanting!!! It gripped me and kept me hooked right till the end. Everything about this drama is good! If I would have known they had a Season 2 for this drama I would have stopped anticipating the way I did in the last few episodes. (You know what I'm talking about once you watch it.)

This is the best drama of 2025 so far!!!! Don't miss out on this one! It is surreal, the banter and the harmony between the lead characters was wonderful to watch!!!

Awaiting season 2!!!😍💌

I would love to know who the art director was for this series. I would watch all their work

I find this series well told, well acted. The sets, costumes, make-up helped tell the story beautifully. Even the lighting is worth mentioning. Great colors. Inspiring.

Hmmm.. I am required to write more. So few people I know want me to blather about anything! I'm honored!

Editing seems nice too. The tale has a good clip, never spending and overly tedious amount of time on any points, but still guiding us on where to look and think about what's going on.
