so good!

this was my 2nd attempt at watching this and i’m so glad i gave it another chance; i literally binge-watched this in less than 1 day! i’m such a sucker for the found family trope, most especially within a sports club, so i was sure i was gonna like this and i really did.

i would have given this a perfect score if it weren’t for the annoying men who got too many screentime. i completely understand that it was for the plot and that these situations unfortunately happen frequently, but they appeared too often for my liking that i just skipped their scenes entirely—and that would be like a quarter to half of the episode! still very glad that they eventually got what they deserved because i was wishing for their downfall every second so i can finally enjoy the rugby team and woojin’s scenes peacefully.

also the romance was so cute! i like that it had both developing couples from the teachers and students, but it was just the right amount where they aren’t the sole focus of the drama while still having the cutest interactions.

overall still really liked it (so much so that i finished it in one go LOL)!!! would definitely rewatch but still skip any scenes with the annoying rats idc if they were important to the plot

k lang…

i get that it’s a noona drama and i’m usually rlly a fan but jooyeon is a bit too emotionally immature; like yes, he was forced to grow up early bc of his father’s death, but he’s immature in a way that’s just plain rude. in the early eps (1-4), he’s very asshole-y towards sujeongand then retracts it later—and i understand that it was to gain dominance as a ceo and be taken seriously because he could be looked down upon on as he is quite young—but it gets pretty repetitive and he clearly does not seem to have any character development. i also don’t know if choi hyunwook’s too good at acting like a youngster trying hard to seem mature, or if this role’s just not for him, but i really can’t see past his highschool roles with his character’s styling(?) and personality.

i could have judged this too early so i’m willing to give it another try because i really like moon gayoung!!

overall a really nice series!

the plot was reallyyyyy good as someone who likes watching mystery-centered shows, and while it may seem redundant to tohers, i actually like the continuous suspense that it gives us because it gives me something to look forward to.

however, i personally i thought it was confusing and dragging around eps 19-20 because a lot of things either weren’t making sense or were all over the place. i get that it gets explained later on and really clicks when you see the full picture, but if you don’t really know the context then it does get a little boring because you don’t understand (from what i felt!). nonetheless, i always get a big sense of satisfaction when they’re being cunning and their plan is eventually laid out.

also wtf was that last scene actually? why’d they do all that when they’re not gonna make a s2… honestly the whole series could’ve been a solid 9/10 but the ending pmo LOL

9.5 — i love women

it’s always been in my watchlist so i can’t believe it took me so long to start this series!

i really loved mudan’s character & how she was sooo strong despite everything she’s been through, but it’s not (like the usual stuff we see in other shows where it’s) forced and stiff—she allows herself to feel and be upset about the pain, only then does she get back up.

i actually like the slowburn and how it really focuses on mudan being her own person rather than it being solely about the romance, but the little crumbs were very much appreciated! they were so cute and it was really nice to see how they found comfort in each other, and jiang changyang steps in only when needed—he knows mudan is capable enough to handle things, but is still always ready to give a hand when it’s out of her control.

speaking of handling problems, this show is really good at making you feel so pissed and then evening it out but giving you a great sense of satisfaction because the antagonists (and it’s mostly MEN) get what they deserve. i also love how mudan’s not portrayed as a saint who shows mercy to everyone and allows them to be fairly punished for their wrongdoings—rightfully so, because they’re just pure evil!

and then the womennnnn!!! the main reason why i really started this was because i saw reviews of how it touches on women empowerment. it’s definitely biased, but this contributes for 8.0 of my rating and the rest makes up the 1.5 LOL

i honestly would’ve given this a 10/10 rating but i personally did feel like it was getting a bit repetitive near the end that i just started skipping/putting the show on 2x speed during the parts where it showed the antagonists and mudan going through it again. by this time i already know mudan will outsmart them, so i didn’t really feel like feeling annoyed at the characters (the actors are greatttt at getting on your nerves! i love all of them, they’re amazing).

overall, this was such a great experience that i literally binged the whole thing in 2 and a half days, but i don’t think i’ll be rewatching it because so many characters pissed me off that i can’t bear to go through it again.

goods na dili na very goods

started out by good that i literally binged episodes 1-7 in one go with full energy and was expecting that adrenaline to keep up until i finished the entire drama in one go, but when i got to ep. 8, i was already starting to press the skip button several times per scene. this drama was branded as a cute romcom throughout the whole time everyone was waiting for it to release that when the plot twist hit, it was unexpectedly unpleasant.

first, i understand how muhee’s past and current traumas have affected her and eventually formed into something that completely influenced her mental state. it was actually very interesting to see because i think this happens to a lot of actors; they get really immersed in their role or get really connected with the character that it manifests in real life. second, i personally really liked the plot of hojin being a renowned translator/enterpretator but cannot, for the life of him, decipher muhee’s mind and actions, hence why he needed a ‘translator’ of his own.

however, i completely feel like this could’ve all been done without the ‘horror’ aspect. despite how many times “do rami” was shown—and probably, forshadowed—her actually ‘fronting’ was a bit of a whiplash to me. i think they got overly ambitious with trying to cover many genres at once to make it more interesting and, because of that, couldn’t focus too much on the psychological part of the plot. (speaking of, we never really heard of hojin’s brother ever again LMFAO) i honestly would’ve given this a 10 if it just focused on being a silly romcom.

still, i really liked the overall vibe and especially the cinematography! also really enjoyed the soundtracks they used—i think it really so well with the scenes that i sometimes replay it just to listen to the first beat dropping at a great scene. i’ll definitely rewatch this as a fan of all 3 leads (2015 me would NOT believe it if someone told me THEE sota fukushi would be in a kdrama!!!!!), but i think i’ll still skip on the horror scenes.
