Chinese BLs are on another level, made an account just to leave a review for this series.

I haven't been so instantly drawn to a BL series since Meet you at the Blossom.

Once again I am heavily impressed by how amazing Chinese production can be when its able to work around Censorship. I was slightly skeptical when this series was announced, but that didn't stop me from waiting for the first three episodes to air. (I even set an alarm to wake up 11 minutes beforehand so I could watch them on release) I've always been someone who enjoys the Omegaverse genre, the way this series introduced it felt smooth and natural enough for my sibling who isn't interesting in OMV to enjoy it aswell, along with me who's also always loved shows/films involving Viruses.

To not ramble about how I've fallen inlove with this series at first watch (Quite mad that i couldn't stop myself from watching all three episodes in one go.) I'll just say its an overall perfect BL in my book, even if things go downhill from here I'll call it an enjoyable show with a beautiful cast, I especially love when romance clearly Isn't the main focus in a BL series. We get worldbuilding, personal character conflicts, full personality and life for each main character we get introduced to (no one is a "throwaway" tossed in for the sake of plotholes.), secondary plot away from the love aspect (running a company, family issues, a sickly father, a insecure secretary, unbalanced social circles.) All of this in three episodes? I feel like I've watched less then 20 minutes yet still have a plot fit for a movie trilogy.

If you're thinking of watching but are unsure i urge you to go for it and support this series as much as you can, though I do recommend waiting for all episodes to be out lol.

Personally I'm putting this series right next to Not Me in my favorites list which is big for me since Not Me has been an all time favorite for years.

A flawed experiment that dared to dream — and changed the landscape of Chinese BL forever.

Omega verse… from China? Are you kidding me? No one could have imagined this would actually happen..... yet here we are. ABO Desire is groundbreaking simply for existing, and I’m rating it higher purely because of that bold step. It’s not every day you see a Chinese production daring enough to touch the Omegaverse genre, and that in itself feels like a huge leap for the BL community there. Credit where it’s due: Desire 4 deserves genuine appreciation for creating the first ever alpha-beta-omega-enigma dynamic in the Chinese entertainment industry. The courage to introduce such a world, one so layered with power structures, instincts, and emotional intensity — is commendable. I’m truly thankful to the entire team for pushing those creative boundaries and making it possible.

That said, if we strip away the excitement of the genre itself and focus purely on the series’ execution, the flaws become impossible to ignore. The editing was choppy, the pacing rushed, and the direction uneven. Certain emotional beats didn’t have the time to settle — everything felt like it was constantly hurrying toward the next scene. The final episode was especially disappointing, as the LangTu couple’s arc was cut and edited so poorly that it lost all impact. I was genuinely looking forward to their story, and seeing it reduced that way was frustrating.

Still, I can’t help but appreciate the ambition. For a first attempt at such a sensitive and technically challenging concept, the cast and crew gave it their all. The actors clearly put in effort — you can feel their sincerity, even when the production quality doesn’t always support it. I only wish the team had worked with a more experienced director and editor, because the raw potential here could have turned into something exceptional with the right guidance.

So yes ...... while ABO Desire falters in its storytelling and editing, it deserves recognition for its bravery. It broke barriers, opened new creative possibilities, and made people talk. I’m thankful to Desire 4 for giving this genre a voice in China, and I genuinely hope their next project builds on this foundation with stronger direction, tighter editing, and the same fearless spirit.

OVERHYPED!!

watch it if you love getting rage baited!
In terms of acting all have done a great job, but plot wise its not worth the time!!
there were lot of missing parts n it just felt so confusing
i honestly was going to drop it but i really wanted to see how Hua yong would resolve or confess the truth!
but it was very disappointing coz the fact that Sheng just forgave Hua yong pisses me off, there is no character development for Hua yong at all!!
n dont even get me started on the second couple, the amount of miscommunication is just insane, and they were not even given a proper ending!!

Is it worth to watch?

YES. The first BL series with the whole ABO elements. Unlike PittBabe, Desire is a true abo drama settings. Alpha, Omega, Beta, Enigma and their rut/heats/scents/pheromons etc, they stay true to the classic abo world.
They also have mpreg, and that subtle baby bumps (it's so cute).
The story itself is okayish, manipulative boyfriend and stalker behaviour of Huayong, kinda "forcing" himself to his crush Sheng Shaoyou. In the novel, HY is depicted as a black flag, cause he doesn't hesitate to kill anyone who stands in his way to get SSY. He even SA his so-called true love and continue deceiving him.
Even when SSY got pregnant, HY didn't come clean about all the things enigma could do to alpha, like got him preggy and turns his rut into heat. Basically turning an alpha to omega. It was too late anyway, SSY has been "tamed" in a way, due to the nature of enigma (the strongest of them all) and him being preggy changed everything (relying on HY for a soothing pheromones, permanent mark means they're partner for live etc).

As for the 2nd CP, oh my god it was too frustrated to watch. How could S-Class Alpha be so dumbed like Wenlang? and Gao Tu, albeit he's sweet and kind, didn't even try to communicate clearly with his longtime crush. They both at fault. They made me feel like I could just sit them down and explain everything to them so they could just move on to the happily-ever-after lives.

And the ending? Damn. They skipped a lot. We don't get to see SSY pregnancy taking a toll on him, how confused and embarassed he is, also just a few glimpse of Gao Lele in the end😭😭😭
WL and GT didnt even clear their misunderstanding.
I suggest you all to read the novel instead to soothe your broken hearts due to that ending scene.

Li Pei En, Huang Xing, and Qiu Dingjie acting is good, but Jiang Heng could learn a lot more (heard it's his first drama). Also, sometimes they cut the scene awkwardly. With a big budget as they say, the quality could be improve too (the settings or the story).

It may be not the best BL drama but still phenomenal. Afterall, it's a Chinese series with a pregnant man. Applause to the whole crew and actors of ABO Desire❤️

The genre is pulling a lot of weight

I thought 16 episode would be enough to give a compelling story but most episodes are unbalanced between the couples and the finale episode ends just like every other episode. there better be a second season or this whole thing was just clickbaiting audiences. we got more action in the bts than the actual show. maybe it’s a cultural thing but the sanitization of every scene left much to be desired. how are you going to build up all these weeks and delivery a few seconds of what everyone has been waiting for?

Our first Omegaverse genre

ABO Desire is a groundbreaking 2025 drama series—and a major milestone as the first live-action adaptation of the Omegaverse (Alpha/Beta/Omega) genre.

Before we dive into the story, let me break down the world of the Omegaverse for you.

The series is set in a world reshaped by a global virus that triggered a genetic mutation—dividing humanity into four secondary genders based on 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀:
> Alphas (A): The elite class. Dominant, physically powerful, and driven by strong instincts. They emit pheromones that can influence or even overwhelm others—especially Omegas.
> Betas (B): The neutral majority. Low fertility, no intense biological cycles, and largely unaffected by pheromones. They live quietly in the background.
> Omegas (O): The most fertile group—regardless of biological sex. They go through periodic "heats," during which they become highly vulnerable and desire mating. Despite their reproductive importance, they’re often marginalized, objectified, or treated as inferior.
> Enigmas (E): A rare, almost mythical class. So powerful they can override Alpha dominance—even turn an Alpha into an Omega. Few believe they exist at all.

𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀
> Heats (Omegas): A period of intense fertility and emotional vulnerability. During heat, an Omega feels a deep, instinctual pull toward an Alpha—often described as a desperate need to be claimed or "provided for."
> Ruts (Alphas): The male counterpart to heat. When an Alpha enters rut, they become hyper-focused, possessive, and driven by the primal urge to claim and protect an Omega.
> The Mating Bite (The Permanent Mark)
This is the most significant act of claiming. It occurs when an Alpha bites the scent gland located at the nape of the Omega’s neck. This creates a Permanent Bond. The two characters become biologically "synced," often allowing them to feel each other’s emotions or location from a distance.

Now, let’s begin the story.

It follows Sheng Shaoyou (SY), a cold and powerful S-Class Alpha and heir to a biotech empire. He is desperate to find a cure for his father’s "pheromone gland cancer."

During a business visit to rival CEO Shen Wenlang (WL), SY unexpectedly encounters Hua Yong (HY)—a striking Omega who perfectly fits SY’s ideal image: beautiful, fragile, and emotionally vulnerable. HY strikes him like a vision: a "delicate little orchid" waiting to be claimed. Determined to claim this “delicate little orchid” for himself, SY begins to pursue HY relentlessly.

But here’s what SY doesn’t know: HY isn’t just another Omega falling into his orbit.

They’ve met before.

When they were just boys, SY saved HY from being bullied. That single act of kindness changed HY’s life forever. That moment left a deep impression on HY, who fell in love and quietly devoted his life to SY. From that day on, HY had only one goal: becoming SY’s mate.

Now grown up, HY is playing a long game. He deliberately puts himself in danger, creates situations where he needs saving—all so SY can feel dominant, in control, and emotionally invested. Every move is calculated. Because for HY, this isn’t just love. It’s destiny.

And beneath it all… HY hiding a big secret about his true identity, whether in Omegaverse or business world.

The secondary storyline focuses on Gao Tu (GT), an Omega working as a secretary for Shen Wenlang. But no one knows his real status—not even his father more over WL. GT has spent years pretending to be a Beta, using dangerous suppressants to hide his scent and avoid detection.

He does it to survive.

GT’s decision to hide his Omega status began with his mother. After suffering abuse herself, she feared her son would be exploited by dominant Alphas. To protect him, she forced GT to live as a Beta, teaching him to suppress his true nature.

Despite his high salary, GT lives in poverty while supporting his sick sister and debt-ridden father. GT has secretly loved WL since their university days, but knowing WL’s hatred toward Omegas, he never dares to reveal either his feelings or his true identity.

Because of his parents’ toxic marriage—where his Alpha father was manipulated, in his eyes, by his Omega husband—WL grew up believing Omegas use their biology to trap Alphas. He sees heats and ruts not as natural cycles, but as biological traps. He’s even made chilling remarks about aborting any child an Omega might carry.

Now the questions remain…

? What will happen to both relationships—SY-HY, and WL-GT…
? What is the real secret Hua Yong is hiding about his identity…
? And when the truth comes out— will it change everything between them all (either SY-HY or WL-GT)?

That's pretty much the story without giving any more spoilers. Now what I like and don't.

What I like:
+ The twist of SY-HY relationship. Not reading the summary before watching helps me a lot for this…
+ The chemistry between all the couples.
+ The friendship between WL & HY, eventually even to SY.
+ I know I'm not supposed to like this. But seeing an arrogant alpha male eventually drop to their knees for their partners is somehow satisfying

What I don't too like:
- The ending of WL-GT relationship… I really hope we can get a special episode just for their gap relationship…

Overall for the first of Omegaverse, this very satisfying result….

its omegaverse, what else do i have to say

the main couple were sooo perfect. Hua Yong character is sooo unhinged I loved it. He would do anythiiing for his Sheng, and Sheng: seeing such a big menace of a man fall over Hua Yong's deception was soooo good.

The second couple, I liked them both a lot, and they got me on my seat like begging for them to communicate and like get together. Their ending is a bit... well lets just say I hoped for a lot better.

I have to say it's not perfect: there's some very heavy exposition and complicated stuff in the beginning, there's also some plot holes that make no sense, BUT none of it bothered me, honestly. I also would love that their spicy scenes would be with a lot more consent in mind, but nonethless I really liked the show.

Good for the first omegaverse

What first thing that come on your mind when you hear omegaverse? For me personally I would think of an omega itself, but this show didn't give the omega enough screentime and backstory.

This story mainly focused on enigma-alpha relationship which is hua yong and sheng shaouyu and not the alpha-omega couple, so if you want to watch this show just because you want to see alpha-omega couple I suggest you not to watch it.

I really understand that the main cp was huasheng not langtu, but I was hoping that maybe they will give them a fair screentime since it's omegaverse and isn't it supposed to show more of omega story? But well, I was hoping too much.

Actually the main story was good enough, I like their development of relationship and how hua yong and sheng shaoyou being the happy family at the end, but on the other hand I really disappointed about the story of alpha-omega cp which is shen wenlang and gao tu, cause we didn't get a proper scene of them being together like gao tu always suffering and shen wenlaang always being the dumb man he is.

This show has so much potential, but the production team didn't take it fully.

Sheng Shao You MY PRECIOUS BABY is the only sane one in this series

For one of the first omegavers it is as definitely a much watch.
Casting was 10/10 🤩🤩
Personally I didn't like the scene where Hua You faked being assaulted by Shen Weng and others, idk but it didn't sit right with me. In ep 10 Sheng Shao You was so understanding and immediately stopped because Hua didn't wanted it. 🥺🥺 The ending wasn't satisfactory for the Second couple and abrupt🥺🥺

Ending?

I loved everything BUT...
How could it end like that? I mean, it's just like they cut a few major part to fit into the last episode. What happen at the hospital? Where was the secretary Gu? How did he survive ? What will happen between them when they reunite? What about the kid?
So, I really do feel like one more episode could have made the ending perfect!
