I’m a Big Jane apologist!

I’m a Big Jane apologist
My type of drama bc I love loved the angst and the ‘toxicity’. I’ll be a Big Jane apologist, red flag or not, simply bc that man needed to be understood.

If you watch the show thinking you can predict every move the characters are gonna be making, then think again. With every episode you get a new turn and you have to question everything again. I had to force myself to stop assuming and start noticing the small details instead (unbuckling the seat belt, needle prick, coveting someone’s sports car, lilacs)

Big Jane never had someone on his side and when he thought he found one and gave the trust necklace it all fell apart. Even his own father was never by him. The Favor Game was a type of relief and connection that’s why he didn’t gaf about all the rumors.

I honestly despised Little Jane for never protecting Big Jane when people were badmouthing him. His first instinct was always to believe whatever rumor he heard then IMMEDIATELY running to question and judge Big Jane! Then turn have the audacity to talk about trust.

With the number of times Little Jane kept asking for space only NASA could provide. Everytime he said this I’d always feel bad for Jane Patrick bc he never deserved it.

Not a lot of people are talking about the brother, Jet, enough. Idk how old he was in the beginning when everyone else was in uni but the mistake he did then was somewhat understandable. The one he did 5 years later was…not! Crying to the same person who saved him before to save him once again was very selfish of him. His character development was too late for me to actually like him.

That said, going back to why I loved this, is bc there was a red flag. My type of man bc there was no one time I hated Jane Patrick and I’m scared so please pray for me. While you’re praying Imma go through a Japanese bl to cleanse my palette ✌️

How did this series get all these positive reviews?

It’s slow, has repetitive narrative, unlikable characters, and a frustrating dynamic where characters hide secrets and easily fall for rumours.

I understand a few novels are completely on the negative side with red flag characters but this series adaptation has genuinely made me question why sexual assault is glorified and viewers are actually excited by shit like that!? Even if it’s fiction!

I started watching because of the reviews and gave it a chance till the sixth episode but no more. Done with this atrocious series especially when there are SO many epic and amazing BLs coming out these days.

What did I just watch?

I don’t think I watched the same show as most of these people. Th first episode or two were, meh, at best. The rest? I had to legit force myself to watch the last episode just to see where this train-wreck would end. Every possible trope they could squeeze in made it laughable (which I did actually LOL at times), there were about 3 completely separate shows within the 12 eps, and there was no good reason or explanation for about 50% of the various plot switches.

All in all, I feel bad for the entire cast for getting caught up in this mess of a show, and I leave this here with one word…OUCH.

"Your a red flag,but I'm colorblind"

Rule no:1
Don't be too emotional

Hahahahahahaha the emotions are already there...what a rollercoaster,an addictive rollercoaster coaster.
Big Janes ticks all boxes of mental disturbance and that's really great,it wasn't too Lil or too much just enough to make ur heart boil Nd still fall inluv with him.
Lil Jane is just definition of cute ,the acting, the smiling, the overall is cute ... "applaud People"

I liked how the parents weren't toxic ,they were like real day to day parents...it wasn't over exaggerated including the friends Nd the siblings

Now lastly I think after both janes tasted awesomeness...they got addicted...though Lil Jane just loves awesomeness way more,he fantasized abt such during the ppl , writing an exam....shiiiaaaa

But I'm satisfied and I recommend

7.9 RATING IS CRAZY

I think the title was more for the viewers than for them because every episode I had to tell myself “DONT BE TOO EMOTIONAL”. They did not disappoint OK. I went into this thinking P’Jane was the red flag 🚩 because that’s how he’s portrayed but for me HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING WRONG it’s always greedy people making him out to be the bad guy but I’ll defend him to my last breathe. Janalee somehow managed to piss me off every single episode and for the longest I couldn’t feel his love for P’Jane but towards the end he really stepped up even when he pissed me off. I STILL THINK P’JANE DESERVES BETTER AND I STILL DONT KNOW WHY HE LOVE JANALEE SO MUCH BUT AS LONG AS HES HAPPY SO AM I. P’Dan should have joined PUT a long time ago but it was satisfying at the end. Lil Jane’s Mom really got on my nerves for a couple episodes but she managed to become tolerable at the end. Over all this was a GREAT series and I’m gonna Miss my P’Jane 💔 but I hope they’re happy forever. THANK YOU TEEHENG 🙇🏽‍♀️I’ll miss you guys until next time.

Big Jane Isn’t the Red Flag—Little Jane Is the True Menace

While casual viewers love to brand Big Jane as the "toxic" one because of his wealth, shadowy past, and preference for contractual arrangements, a closer look at the actual mechanics of their relationship reveals a completely different reality. Big Jane’s behavior is rooted in deep trauma and an anxious attachment style, yet his devotion remains unwavering: he never lies, never intentionally harms, and consistently offers absolute loyalty, financial salvation, and protection without asking for submission in return.

The real red flag in this dynamic is Little Jane. Driven by a massive ego, class prejudice, and a crippling inferiority complex, Little Jane operates with zero emotional intelligence. He actively chooses hallway gossip over open communication, weaponizes emotional withdrawal, and refuses life-saving help purely out of misplaced pride. Instead of extending basic trust or asking simple questions, he repeatedly acts as judge, jury, and executioner toward the one man who adores him. Big Jane may be flawed, but Little Jane’s self-righteous, passive-aggressive toxicity is by far the most destructive force in the entire series.

Two Red Flags made for each other

This drama is perfect, the story is catchy and the way Big Jane become a softer person for his Little Jane despite his background and past traumas. I actually reproach that they didn't dig deep in this side of BJ and why he start doing favors in the first place.

The acting is top notch Especially Tee. His eyes are so expressive, you can feel his love for LJ and his sorrow when they broke up, he really did an amazing job for his first ever role and the chemistry is chemistrying. Despite their actual age gape, you can feel how they are comfortable with each other which helps delivering an excellent performance.

For me Little Jane is as much a red flag as Big Jane

He listen to gossips so much , let them guide him and his decisions and he judge BJ through them.
The shower where he imagine BJ despite him being in an actual relationship with Dan.
He treat BJ like shit after he paid his brother dept.
He sleep with the man responsible for his best friend death [in his opinion] the same exact day the said BF died and all that as a favor.
He himself demand two favors from BJ when he spent an amount of time criticizing him for offering favors to others.

So they deserve each other.

This show was amazing, it just keept doing everything so right. The actor playing Big Jane absolutely carried and took the show, his performance was outstanding and everytime he was on the screen your eyes would be glued to it. I often found myself replaying his scenes because he was just so good. And because he, and the MC got a lot of screentime, every episode was a joy to watch.

The first half of the show was perfect, the storyline was super interesting and slowly building and developing so you would find out more and more. The only issue I have with this series is that halway the show and towards the end; the show storyline stops developing further, doesn't get any deeper, we get a lot of loose ends, the acting becomes a bit repetitive (especially the MC's acting is a bit 'flat', lacks emotion often) and some decisions are just illogical and it all just felt very rushed. I expected the storyline would delve deeper into the history of Big Jane, the secrets of Big Jane, the peculiar personality of Big Jane and how little Jane would live/respond to those many secrets, but we got very little of that so my curiosity to those things did not get satisfied.

I'm hoping there will be another season where they delve right into the dark(?) part of Jane (his family, his business, his history, his personality, his morals,...), that they kind of abandoned in this season. Because the psychological drama, the manipulation, the secrets, the fear-factor, the evil traits, the dark personalities, the mystery and fear towards Big Jane, etc. we saw in the first few episodes was absolutely amazing, way more interesting than the latter half of the series that was more wholesome and superficial, and something I hope they will pick up on again and continue with in a new season.

But the first half of the show is so good, and that combined with the still many good moments in the latter half and the pleasing ending of the show does largely make up for it.

Big Jane and the mystery surrounding his morals, life and past and ofcourse the acting for this character is by far the best I've ever seen in a BL!! He has this ominous vibe, even off-screen in BTS's this remains. I hope to see him more in other shows where he plays in similar 'villain' type roles.

I read some of the other reviews and I'm honestly annoyed at people automatically giving a show a low rating because it isn't a wholesome, realistic, healthy relationship filled with perfect characters who always give consent and never do anything wrong. Need I remind people that this is fiction! A show about unhealthy or toxic relationships have just as much, if not more, entertainment value than healthy realistic ones. We watch movies about serial k*llers, drug lords, evil villains etc. all the time that are really well made and therefore; entertaining. I personally find BL's with overly healthy/realistic relationships very boring to watch. I want to see characters with serious flaws, I want to see toxicity, I want to see violence, betrayal, evil decisions, etc. Ofcourse, we all draw a line somewhere. But this show was well within my red/black flags limit.

Hwve fun watching!

Toxic BL done well 10/10

GIRL I cannot praise this series enough.
The casting, to the acting, to the music, to the ending--it was everything we wanted out of a toxic BL.

The chemistry between these two was insane. I am a lover of toxic BL's, and I think they did really well. The novel is waaay more toxic, and spicy, than they translated to the series but I am glad they toned it down a bit.

There was a lot of character redemption for Jane Patrick, and tbh we all saw it coming but the execution of it was really satisfying.
With how insanely red flagy he was in the beginning I wasn't sure how they were going to end the series on a happy note. The moment everything was happy they threw in another curve ball just to keep us on our toes.

I was ROOTING for Dan and Putt so heavily and the moment that shit with Putt happened I was like WHY. However they were just preparing us for the red flag series those two will be together in and I was kinda here for it.

Anyway 10/10 series, waaay up my alley.

Nah, but don't be too emotional, right?

After 12 long weeks, Kat and I officially finished this show today, and I really enjoyed it; I can't lie. Tee and Heng lowkey did their big one and were such a delight to see on screen together. I hope to see them in more acting gigs soon! I would give it a 9 out of 10. Then I am going to say what I liked, what I didn't like, do a little episode review, and lay this baby to rest, and actually on time for once, because go me.

Starting off with the first thing I liked, oh my god, I loved the two of them together. This is the first time I have seen either of them in anything, and oh my god, I actually fell in love with them. They are both so incredibly good-looking and such good actors, especially together; just a phenomenal job all around. Tee really brought to life the "demon" and the red flag aspect; I was so fucking mad watching Lil Jane forgive his dumb ass, so good job to him. Also, Heng, playing the stupid little boy role and getting fooled by his big sexy guy we still don't know the age of, he did such a good job.

Also, special note to Heng's beautiful smile and his stretch marks because, god, let's just say I nutted on screen a couple of times.

SEX SCENES ATE (EVEN IF WE SAW SAFETY SHORTS MOST OF THE TIME).

NEXT UP, and if you asked me a couple of weeks ago, this probably would have been something I strongly disliked, but now I love it: the theme song. HE'S A RED FLAG, BUT HE'S COLORBLIND IF YOU EVEN CARE. I FUCKING LOVE THIS THEME SONG, AND IF THEY DON'T HAVE AN A CAPPELLA VERSION ON SPOTIFY RIGHT NOW, I'M TAKING DOWN DEE HUP HOUSE WITH MY BARE FUCKING HANDS. Run me my money, lil nigga.

Another thing I really liked was the dancing class. Like, I feel like everything came back to that class because that's really what started our show, and I loved every second of that, my lord. Just fantastic. I really loved that parallel, and I thought that, and also all of the rest of their memory things (including when Jane gets his memory slowly back) were phenomenally done and felt very intentional, so I loved it a lot.

Despite the memory loss plot being a trip, I really enjoyed how they helped him get it back; that was actually really cute and kind of made me want to sob violently and shit all over the floor.

Jamie is the cutest kid ever, and I love him with all my heart.

PUT GETS CLAPPED, AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT CHEEKS (THANK GOD THAT NIGGA DIED). Natural selection at that point, because how are you going to assault your best friend? The universe was not letting you get away with that one big dawg, or should I say dead dawg.

RANDOM 5 YEAR TIME SKIP THAT I AM ACTUALLY NOT MAD AT. I think they needed space, maybe not that much space, but that's fine, and I think it helped them get closer and realize they actually need each other.

The ending was pretty mid, but I actually enjoyed it a lot. I loved the wedding part even though it did feel rushed, but that's okay. I liked the dancing scene and the parallels; oh my god, that was just awesome. I do think it should have ended with the kiss because the dad part felt weird, but it also alluded to a special episode, maybe? But also, I don't know what they would do in the special episode, besides fuck, and you know what, hell yeah, I will help them fund it; let's go.

Moving on to what I didn't like, I think most of them are just question plot choices and character writing, but the biggest one that's not either of those IS THE FUCKING AI. OH MY GOD. Like, I know we spent all of our budget making that crappy ass statue of lil Jane, but fuck, can we stop draining all of the ocean, please? Like shit, Thailand is going to stop sinking at this rate with how much damn AI this show used. And like I can excuse it (no I can't), but Jane is supposed to be an "artist," and everything is AI, and the one thing that's not AI is he used the markup tool on fucking photos, like don't piss me off. We could have paid an actual artist instead of the fucking ChatGPT premium we had for damn near a year and a half. I'M SICK. GOOD BYE.

LIL JANE IS THE STUPIDEST MOTHER FUCKER EVER, AND IF I EVER CATCH HIS ASS ON THE STREETS, I'M KICKING HIS ASS IN A DITCH. Like, oh my god. Because of his stupidity, we dragged the story on for so fucking long when we could have had some actual development, but no, BUT NO, WE WANNA SIT HERE, TWEEDLE ALL BALLS, AND DRAW AI ART WHILE OUR MAN PLAYS US LIKE A FUCKING FIDDLEEEEE, I'M DONE WITH YO ASS.

Okay, next up for things I didn't like was their power dynamic. Well, I do say it got better; I think the first couple of episodes, IT WAS BAD. Like, some parts were uncomfortable (the assault scene), bad. And I think they could have laid off a bit more, because once they broke out of the dynamic, it was hard to see Tee has anything else.

Following right after this because I think they are in part related: communication errors. Like, I understand the communication error every now and then, BUT FUCK, IT WAS LIKE EVERY DAMN EPISODE FOR THE FIRST LIKE 10 IT WAS HAPPENING. I'M BEGGING, CAN WE JUST COMMUNICATE AND TELL THE TRUTH, AND NONE OF THE MAIN CONFLICT STUFF WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. GIRL BYE.

I HATE DAN, HE SHOULD HAVE DIED WITH PUT. I think the character writing was too good, and that's why I'm bad, but fucking awful character who does not know when to quit. NIGGA, THAT'S WHY THEY LEFT YOUR ASS TO DIE BITCH. Also, according to my friend, who said according to the author, Dan is not even supposed to be the main antagonist, like that bitch dies earlier in the novel. MEANING DEE HUP IS DOING THIS FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME. LIKE BRUH COME ON NOW. My friend said Dee-Hup needed a different type of conflict in the story, and I agree.

THE MEMORY LOST PLOT WAS BULL SHIT. Nigga we had it for like not even an episode, and then it got faded. GOOD NIGHT, Y'ALL HAVE ME SICK. (I did like how Dan caused that, but I wish the reveal was better). Episode 10 explains the entire scene and plot of when it happened very well: "MARRY? HELLO? Jane was confused too, so that's funny. Jane a little wasted, but you know what? Hell yeah. HENG NOSE CRINKLE I'M SICK, Heng the man you are…jk. HE FLEW THROUGH BITCH, oh my god. God, I knew that was going to happen. I was like why do these lights keep flashing? Oh my god. Nothing can ever go right for them lmao where your seatbelts yall. For once not his fault. Memory loss, there's no way. The entire cast in this bitch, I swear I see puts ghost in the corner fr fr. BYE AMNESIA WE ARE DONE. For once I feel like its actually justified because he flew through that bitch into a cement block. Thats real convenient. PUT IS DEAD, AND JANE DOESN'T KNOW. HEY, YOUR BEST FRIEND IS DEAD. Fuckkkk, I don't gaf about our couple; Jane not knowing Put is dead is tragic as fuck, and that also means he didn't remember their final moments together being an assault. tragic."

The red room, or should I say the "Jane" room. Uh yeah, so we are meant for each other because that room was insane. He does not love you; that is obsession, big bro. That is fucking obsession.

JET IS THE MOST ANNOYING LITTLE NIGGA, AND HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE ORPHANAGE OR SOME SHIT BECAUSE WHY ARE WE CAUSING SO MANY PROBLEMS FOR OUR FAMILY, OR CORRECTION FOR OUR BROTHER.

Episode overview timeeee. Episode 2: "i lowkey take back my first review. I understand what they are doing now lmao. Im playing checkers and they r playing football. On a flight to Thailand rn actually, so that's fun, but oh my god. Great acting all around and this show has me all the way gobsmacked. ALSO HIM BEING 32???? Huh? With the double ids and lil jane has rocks for brains because no way. But everyone who makes a deal with the devil does so; that's fire. ALSO GRABBING THE TITS IS CRAZY WORK IM GONNA BE SICKKKK." Episode 3: " I was gagged the entire time and they r playing games i am not even ready for lmao." Episode 4: "WE ARE NOT OVER HIM, AND I DON'T THINK WE EVER WILL BE. Also, the small window where you could get Big Jane off your back has passed, and now he will never leave you alone. We are fake dating dan and Big jane has come on to us twice...right. I am hella invested though. Also, the dancing class with the two of them has me all the way dead. Wait, I'm so gagged; can't wait for next week, my lord. We r real dating Dan, but we don't love him at all. and just sold our soul to the devil lets go." Episode 5: "WHY IS THE ONLY CLASS WE TAKE DANCE? WE R BUSINESS ADMIN MAJORS, WHY R WE DOING DANCE?" Episode 6: "This is tragic. CHILLS FROM THE NOISES. And the looks have me deadddd. THE 10 REASONS IM DONE. WOULDN'T WISH THIS ON MY WORST ENEMY PA, AH NAH. THAT WAS ACTUALLY TRAGIC." Episode 7: "GIVE HIM THE SLOPIEST OF TOPIES I SWEAR TO DIDDY." Episode 8: "James Prescott, ah baby. 12 and 32 is a crazy age gap for siblings. Too big to be bad at basketball, both of y'al. Jane pls join them and stop being awkward. Jane's a hustler and gotta get his bag. Jamie with the assist. Heng got be feeling brand new. JANES LIKE FUCK I FUMBLED A BADDIE BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH LOVE IN HIS EVIL EYES. Jane dad lore when. Theory, daddy had an affair and had jamie. Daddy loves jamie more than jane and jane has had to bear the brunt of everything while he was neglected. Whoever did the football/soccer thing is funny, and I hope you get a raise. Some people never change, I fear. They said foreigner but white boy is funnier. JANE THEY ARE KIDS. Daddy neglect Jane hardcore. I KNEW IT. It was going to be something with Jane. Lowkey a shrine of you. I would be so mortified and also weirdly flattered because big daddy still into you. Big daddy sees jane as something he owns more than anything thats our issue. You don't own people you love; you need to understand that. FUCKING ON THE LORE IS CRAZY with the sheet from the statue. EYEBROWS ON FLEEEKKKK. We meant for each other. Hey, what's gonna go wrong in the next episode? Hey at least its not our main couple." Episode 9: "I actually quite enjoy the message of this show, but damn these bitches cant catch a fucking break i swear to god. FUCK JET, DISOWN THAT BITCH AND LET HIM FEND FOR HIMSELF. It is actually such a pride thing oh my god, like why are we letting our man reposess our house? I'm so gagged. Also, where is Jamie? I desperately need him because I love cute kids." Episode 11: "They got the whole class to help him. Jane thats so sweet. I like this lowkey; it's stimulating my memory too. Except the evil is gone and its only love in those eyes. Gaps dancing with his girlfriend after hitting on her for so long. People can say whatever they want but sometimes all you need is to see it and hear it from yourself. God they are so cute. We got 5 years to make up for. Why is he beating his shit like it's a KitchenAid, lmaooo. Technically they just got engaged so fuck." Episode 12: "AI OH MY GOD IM BEGGING. We drained the entire ocean for that shit; I'm so irritated. HEY SO I HOPE A BOMB GOES OFF BC FUCK YALL. We cant be happy. WHAT? HELP IM LOOKING DOWN AND I CAN STILL UNDERSTAND. SEXY AH NIGGA IN THE POOL and bif hane walking like its heavyyyy. PUT THE APPLE DOWN. DAN, WHAT THE HELL. I knew dan was gonna do something crazy because of just bullshit. GLAD HES BRINGING A GUNNNNN. DAN WAS BEHIND THE CAR ACCIDENT. I like the dead flowers that was fun. So Jamie, they are actually engaged. If Big Jane was poor, he would've gotten faded SO fast. Did we ever find out how old big Jane is? Wedding in the house we rich rich. Obsessed with the dancing parallels. I HEAR THE SONG."

God, I am going to miss this show so much. I think I am going to sob my eyes out without my don't be too emotional. I think it has a lot of flaws, but God, I loved it a lot. It is my baby, and I plan to rewatch it, so just watch this shit. Okay bye!

The most underappreciated Thai BL series of 2026

Don't Be Too Emotional stands out as a hypnotic, diamond-in-the-rough drama which delivers something rare: a supremely unique, cinematic atmosphere and an almost magnetic pull that keeps you completely hooked.

What sets Don't Be Too Emotional apart from standard dramas is its moody visual style and cinematography. Visually, the series trades the bright, oversaturated lighting typical of the genre for a more intimate, almost nocturnal color palette. Particularly, the use of shadows and deep contrasts beautifully reinforces the mystery surrounding Jane Patrick (Big Jane).
Every frame feels heavy with latent tension, in a melancholic, urban stage. This distinct visual identity gives the show a highly mature, artistic edge.

At the very center of this heavy atmosphere is the electric chemistry between lead actors Tee Boonyakait and Heng Thatpong. From their very first interaction, the gravity pulling Big Jane and Little Jane together is palpable, almost physical. Both actors deliver performances of raw intensity. Their dynamic practically pierces through the screen. This natural gravity makes their painful five-year separation and eventual reunion incredibly potent. You don't just watch their story progress; you are actively pulled into the emotional vortex of their bond.

The series is admittedly not perfect. It suffers from obvious pacing issues, particularly in the middle episodes where the narrative slows down, occasionally getting sidetracked by clumsy subplots. Yet, the magnetism of the main couple and the strength of the direction completely sweep these flaws away. Even when the plot mechanics drag, you remain glued to the screen, fascinated by the tension binding the two protagonists.

By cleverly toning down the toxic elements of the original light novel, the series successfully maintains a high-stakes emotional payoff without ever losing its edgy, captivating identity.

Don't Be Too Emotional is a masterclass in mood and tension, carried by stunning visual direction and a lead duo with great chemistry. Don't miss this hidden gem and don't be influenced by the negative criticism. It's underappreciated and misunderstood by viewers too harsh with the show and blinded by their rigid structural standards.

Absolute Masterpiece: Toxicity, Perfection, and Pure Chemistry!

I can’t believe we’re already at the end and it’s finally over! Don’t Be Too Emotional completely took over my life, and it is easily one of the best Thai BLs I’ve watched in 2026. The storyline was an absolute emotional rollercoaster for me from Jennalee’s fearless introduction to God Jane in Episode 1, through the high-stakes agreements, that brutal five-year time jump, and the intense memory-recovery arc. It was messy, toxic, and deeply emotional, but I couldn't look away for a single second.

The actors deserve every single award for their performances. The dynamic between God Jane and Lil Jane is so complex, and they portray that toxic-yet-irresistible tension with so much nuance. Lil Jane’s transition from naive curiosity to total heartbreak, and later to mature resolve after the time jump, felt so real to me. God Jane’s cold detachment hiding deep emotional turmoil was played to absolute perfection. Even the supporting cast , Dan, Put, and Jet brought so much life and depth to the show, making the whole world feel grounded and believable.

I also have to praise the soundtrack. The OST hit at the exact right moments to tear your heart out. The emotional tracks during the conflict in Episode 6 and the painful reunion in Episode 7 completely wrecked me and elevated those scenes from good to unforgettable. The whole team behind the camera clearly put so much care into the lighting, direction, and audio to amplify the angst.

Everything about this series from the writing and direction to the cast, the intimacy, and the soundtrack was top tier for me. I’m so upset that it's over, but God Jane and Lil Jane put my heart through such an unforgettable ride. Hands down a 10/10 masterpiece! 😭❤️
