Leads killed it in the 1st half but it was a bit slow in the middle and dragged at the end. Still funny!! Suzy's persona was Wednesday Addams plus SYJ's Ko MunYeong in It's Ok To Not Be Ok and I loved it and it's pathetic that this drama is going to remembered for one thing that wasn't there at all.

IDK why Muslims are turning this into a religious thing but so be it. 90% of the world has a problem w/ the child raping incestual pedophiling women beating death to all infidels marry 6 yr olds jihad inbred screaming join us or face genocide views that Islam teaches. Netflix, SK, and Suzy will all take massive hits to reputation for no reason but it wasn't smart to do anything with any ties to Arabs in general with the atrocities currently being committed. We watch dramas to escape the real world, not be reminded of it and some scenes hit HARD.
But this is a FICTIONAL piece for entertainment purposes ONLY. FICTIONAL ppl. Muslims are turning this into a religious thing for no reason. The Islamists crying and review bombing a FICTIONAL drama is HIGHLY ironic considering what they're doing IRL. Parodies of ALL religions have been used in FICTIONAL dramas and movies for ages and they wouldn't have said anything if it was something other than theirs. But that's Islam. Hypocrisy and intolerance at its finest.
I was highly entertained and had no thoughts over religion until I saw the reviews destroying this over it. I also know not all are as bad as the criminal ones engaging in the acts of violence I listed that the media talks about daily as they're caught engaging in their 'religious' practice. So watch the drama for the drama, not the religious slander many are making this out to be. Slander is what I said up top. But is it slander if it's all true?

Have been waiting for this. Like a wish came true.

They promised us comedy, and they did not disappoint. Loved every episode. Just like my kind of humour. I laughed, smiled and got surprised - that most comedy series can't make me do.
I have watched series relating to Lucifer, Angels, and Spiritual creatures. Those were all biblical representations. And I have always wondered what it would be like if they did the same, but from an Islamic perspective. Guess I know now.
They not only used some of the actual stories and facts from Islam, but also added a bit of a story of their own. Iblis, the Leader of Jinns, was expelled from heaven because he defied Allah. They should have added the backstory of Azazil for a bit more character development.
Azrael's purpose was perfectly interpreted, and I like that they didn't make him the actual villain. They didn't include Jibrael, which is fine. Also, the essence of the story of Bilkis and Khalid is similar but not entirely.

I also liked that they paired Iblis with a psychopath because obviously, normal humans would not impress Iblis, and only a deranged mind can fall for Iblis. Like minds fall for each other. The key was that neither characters saw the other as what they actually were. For instance, Iblis was a jinn but was not taken seriously by KaYoung, and on the other hand, Iblis was likely convinced KaYoung was already corrupt and nothing like a human. She also kept the outfit she wore in hell very carefully, like an art piece or an achievement, you can say. She thinks heaven is boring and hell is fun. Totally made for each other's characters.

And for the people who were concerned that this drama is a false representation of Islam, relax you guys, they just borrowed the names and stories of Islam. I'm guessing you guys watch series that represent Lucifer, Satan, Angels and other biblical representations. The Bible is one of the main holy books of Islam too. When those series twist the essence of the characters, you guys stay silent. And it's just a drama. Hope you won't take it seriously. And please don't come at me 🥺🥺. No hard feelings.

Most Islam accurate Iblis

The first 3 minutes of ep 1 was the almost accurate description of Iblis/satan. Of all the show that describe satan this is the closest to the accurate description of him except the lamp part..also that angels were the first creation of god and genie were made after them and lived in this world long before humans did and were exterminated because they grew arrogant and deviated from the path... Iblis(didn't bow down to human) was granted the wish to corrupt gods creation (human) until the world ends....I loved the creativity of the writer who made this story on the concept of Satan...the actors played their part magnificently and the story was not dragged with a compact 13 episodes.... Give it a try you'll love it

Não vejo nenhum motivo para tantas notas baixas

Só consigo imaginar que as notas baixas tem algum motivo pessoal muito além da história! Uma comédia romântica engraçada, divertida, uma história original e um casal lindo cheio de química.

Apesar de ser descrita como psicopata, a personagem da Suzy é mais para alguém com bloqueio emocional, você vê os sentimentos nela, mas ela não consegue expor e nem mesmo entender na maioria das vezes, a não ser a raiva que ela carrega. Mas é isso que torna a trama engraçada!

Já o Woo Bin está mais charmoso do que nunca, um demônio que por amor se rende a Deus. uma história sobre família, amizade e sobre os nossos desejos e suas consequências.

Na verdade, tem tanta coisa que poderia ser dito sobre esse assunto, sobre egoísmo, sobre ética, sobre responsabilidade, sobre inveja que daria para escrever um livro.

The Arabic-Korean Blend in Genie, Make A Wish? Absolutely Beautiful!”

When I first saw Genie, Make A Wish, the cover alone had me like— “Okay, I need to see what this blend is about!” 😭 And honestly? I was so right.

The effort in this drama is CRAZY. You can literally feel how much work the actors and actresses put in — especially the way they mix in Arabic language and culture. Like, do you know how hard Arabic is to learn?? The blend is just so beautiful to watch.

The acting, the storyline, the visuals — everything connects so well. It’s that type of straight romance that makes you smile for no reason. I’m giving this a pure 9/10 (and that’s rare for me).

I think this might just be my best 2025 straight romance so far. We haven’t had many this year, but this one? THIS ONE, I love it so much 😭💗 I don’t even have the words to explain — just go watch it, because ahh, it’s worth it!!

Satan and a psychopath in love: sign me up!

First things first: Genie, Make a Wish is actually good, and honestly, screw the haters. I don’t watch K-dramas for historical or cultural accuracy; I watch them for pure entertainment after a long day's work. What we have here is a deeply imaginative drama with a hilariously quirky cast of characters and a mismatched-yet-perfectly-matched romantic lead couple that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I know there was a ton of online noise criticizing the show—specifically regarding its portrayal of Arabic culture. Since I don’t know much about that side of things, it didn't impact my viewing at all. I will admit, the first couple of episodes are a little "out there." The storytelling style is different from what I’m used to when I watch a Korean drama, and it might take some people a minute to warm up to it. But once you hit the halfway mark, the bigger picture finally clicks. You realize it's not your cookie-cutter Korean rom com. While romance is the core, it’s driven by a massive, ridiculously strange cast of characters doing bizarre things that make no sense at first, but give the show its charm. Plus, the heavy fantasy element is incredibly cool, seamlessly shifting between the stunning desert backgrounds of Dubai and a small town in Korea.

As for the internet coming after Bae Suzy and calling her acting "wooden"—they completely missed the point. Her character, Ki Ka-young, has an anti-social personality disorder. She is literally supposed to be detached! She did a fantastic job, and you see her entire emotional arc beautifully open up in the last two episodes. Kim Woo-bin is equally great as the dramatic genie Iblis. The man looked gorgeous with long hair.

Their chemistry was top-tier. At least for me They didn't rely on constant skinship or over-the-top fluff or too many romantic situations. But instead, they gave us a few absolutely epic kissing scenes that completely stole the show. They are both good here in my opinion, considering they played together before

While the show feels like it’s just going through the motions initially, the tension ramps up massively the further you go. Everything starts locking into place before brilliantly unraveling in the last three episodes. The finale was excellent and wrapped things up perfectly, giving all the characters exactly what they deserved. It’s silly, yes, but it secretly has a lot of heart—exploring deep themes about humanity, the weight of good versus bad decisions, and how who you are at birth doesn’t define who you will become. Oh, and the random minor roles from massive actors like Song Hye-kyo or Kim Ji Hoon or Daniel Henney were the ultimate icing on the cake!

The Verdict

If you want something totally fresh a little strange with interesting lore and somewhat different from a typical K-drama, and you love fantasy, watch this. If you can appreciate a completely unhinged couple consisting of literal Satan and a psychopath—hands down one of the most amazing pairings in K-drama history—you will love it. Just walk in with zero expectations, ignore the nitpickers, and enjoy the ride!
