The story is relaxing

Honestly, the story is interesting. If I say I was disappointed, maybe just a little.
But overall, the story is okay.

The beginning of the episodes is exciting, but a bit disappointing since the plot isn’t that thrilling—the flow feels more relaxed. Maybe it’s because the story has a rom-com theme, so it feels more laid-back, and since all the episodes were released at once, there’s no real suspense or curiosity building up.
But Ka Young’s character as a psychopath is really well done, very convincing. I even wondered whether playing this role had any effect on Suzy’s daily emotions and psychology. Meanwhile, Genie’s character, which is more comedic, balances out Ka Young’s emotions really well.
As for the OST, it’s good, but it feels like there aren’t enough tracks… hehe.

For this K-drama, if you’re looking for something light and relaxing to watch, I’d definitely recommend it.

A Magical Tale of Joy

Genie, Make a Wish is a delightful blend of heartwarming moments and lighthearted humor, wrapped in a refreshingly unique storyline. The drama delivers constant comic relief without undermining its emotional depth, making it engaging from start to finish. The leads share undeniable chemistry that lights up every scene, supported by excellent acting that keeps the characters vivid and relatable. Adding to its charm, the series treats viewers to memorable cameo appearances that feel seamlessly integrated into the plot. This is a must-watch for anyone seeking a mix of laughter, touching character connections, and a story that stands out from the crowd.

Nirvana for paranormal romance lovers! And we have enemies to lovers at that!

Never been a fan of Uncontrollably Fond, but the chemistry between the two was undeniable. So, I was super excited when they announced another collaboration.

Ep 1:
--------
"In all those years, your hair grew so long, but I guess your beard didn't!" - Ki Ga Yeong (Lol.)
Not them cosplaying superman and Lois as they fly through Dubai. They did a pretty good job. This was so damn enjoyable. The only thing that bothered me was his garb when he got run over by a bike, he looked less like a genie and more like a youtube prankster who pretend to be female ghosts to prank people.

Ep 2:
--------
"Can I try to kill you before you kill me? Let's see who's the better killer." -Ki Ga Yeong
In this round of Genie vs Psychopath, both have 1 points each. Oh, I forgot, that is one broke Genie stealing chump change from elderly women. Then we have our Psychopath betting five lives on one wish.

Ep 3:
--------
"I have no emotions. But as much as I can, I Like you..." -Ki Ga Yeong
Right after saying that she looks at him as if she is ready to push him off the roof again, but no that's her expectant look. She was just waiting for him to kiss her. And that was such a beautiful one to watch.

Ep 4:
--------
"Let's kiss." -Ki Ga Yeong
Girl's had a first taste and keeps wanting more. Well no one can blame her, it's Kim Woo Bin as Genie. It is just fun watching him skedaddle whenever she comes after him for a kiss. The best part was her hacking into the satellite to just to save the video of them kissing!

Ep 5:
--------
"I grant your wishes, but I can also be quite Awful." - Genie.
Yup, every lamp should come with this warning label. Because apart from Alladin, most of the Genie stories I have seen have been horrific.

Ep 6:
--------
"I have chosen a face that will be desirable for the next thousand years." - Genie.
You don't say sir. Based on the first 5 eps, it seemed like they would stick to a light-hearted tone and for once there not being any dire consequences of the wishes. But there we go, reminding us again of the butterfly effect that we have chosen to believe in.

Ep 7 to Ep 13
-------------------
> The serial killer is finding out that his genie is a genie that has no qualms about screwing him over.
> I do love the scenes where he has nothing to say whenever she gets jealous about his ex.
> I do feel that it could have been more emotionally charged but I still enjoyed every part of the drama.
> Not a fan of the story with the Khalid and his father.
> It started out quite well and ended well so a good one in my books.
> Finally a drama where they both get their happy ending and they are both good to each other.

Weirdly emotional

Ok, the story isn't much, 1001 nights fairytale in modern times with genies, angels, beasts etc. But damn! I literally burst into laughter more than once, which took me by surprise, and I cried more than once. I mean..WTF? It touched me and in a good way. I won't remember it in a few days but it made me binge watch after a long time -I have been stuck in Shadow Love's grip since August and it's October. And thay says a lot.

A tale of a love that lasted a 1000 years!

I rarely write reviews but I do feel this drama deserves better reviews.

I absolutely loved this show, especially the pairing of Kim woo bin and suzy. There is something so natural about them. Might be because they are good friends i real life and respect each other.

The story : There is comedy, romance, drama, action, fantasy, great cinematography, well written characters, good veteran actors. All well written with no filler or boring episodes. This show makes you feel good. There are moments I cried but it was worth it.

SUZY / Ki Ka Young : A special shout out to this amazing girl because if you have known her when she started her career as an actress, you'll know how much she has grown.
Her character is well written. The character was portrayed to be an emotionless person who doesn't understand love, fear, etc but she goes by the rules her grandma has taught her. Her character didn't flip mid way in the show unlike a lot of other dramas I have seen. It stayed consistent till the end which is realistic because people don't change in a short span of time.

Kim Woo Bin / Genie : I can't imagine anyone else playing this role. He is such a fantastic actor.

SPOILER : My favorite scene might be the one where Genie is crying tears of blood when Ka hound dies. There is something about a man crying like he's about to die because he lost the love of his life.
Another one would be the last episode where Ka young finally gets to feel emotions she never felt in her life. The entire scene from the time Genie reluctantly appears before her till the end where she d**s.

If you are looking for good romance with greattttt kisses that will give you butterflies, a heart warming love story, good side characters, beautiful cinematography - this one's for you!!!

so funny recommend to watch

i love how special this drama is. Taking old fashion genie was a great idea. With jokes and humour like that you don’t be disappointed to watch it. And last that acting was so good i feel every emotion with them.
imagine you can watch old fashioned genie who had a gambling addiction 🤣
sometimes i stuggled with so many effects but its only my kind of perception i don’t like sparkles and stuff like that but wasn’t really bad cgi or something.
And at least it is drama who fills you with joy and sorrow and thats what i like it.

If You Want to Watch Drama, Watch This

From start to finish, the drama never feels boring. Each episode flows effortlessly, keeping you fully engaged, and the blend of romance, comedy and fantasy works beautifully.
The story delivers exactly what it promises. It's satisfying and enjoyable, with a logical, well-earned ending for the characters. Light, fun, and magical, it's a perfect entertainer to watch when you just want to relax and enjoy.
(Or, like me, you can shove all your studies aside and dive right in.)

P.S. I felt bad for FL's best friend.

Step onto the Genie’s magic carpet to enjoy a great ride

Genie, Make a Wish was an enjoyable romp. With its tongue firmly planted in its cheek, Suzy and the Woob delivered in spades. The world building of the past captured the spirit of Aladdin and the mythology associated with a genie paying penance was interesting. Then we have the issues of that mythology, along with human greed and dysfunctional characters trying to make the best of what they have in the present day.

So, what’s to like. Firstly, Suzy. You know, she rocks the roles she plays. Since Vagabond, she had never looked back. Her wardrobe was to die for. Her turnout as the psycho without empathy was very well done. I appreciated the humour she brought to the role.

Secondly, Woo Bin. He played Iblis to a tee and looked great while doing it. The way he showed both sides of a character wrestling with redemption, sorrow and human idiosyncrasies was absorbing. The cheekiness he had with Suzy was a delight. Her response was funny but I can appreciate some may say her violent reaction was too heavy handed.

Much has been said of the wigs, the visual effects and comical aspects. From my point of view, the wigs was very much a part of the cartoonish aspect of the show. I thought the visual effects were very good. My favourites included the Genie’s coming and going as desert sand and his mythical beast, Sade. As for the comedy, the physical interplay between Ki Ga Yeong and Iblis was reminiscent of Tom and Jerry.

My favourite other character was Sade. I think Ko Kyu Pil’s turn as the mythical jaguar is his best role for some time. That being said, the cast overall were great and delivered.

Genie was a bold departure from how kdramaland would normally do such a show. We have a person who has violent tendencies but a kind heart. Ki Ga Yeong puts herself last, she is selfless but this is only ever seen by the Genie. There is a serial killer in the show just so we get to appreciate the difference. Seeing grandma show Ki Ga Yeong how to be human, loving her all the while, refreshing.

Stepping onto the Genie’s magic carpet is well worth the ride regarding this show. Take a look, ignore the criticism here and help it reach a review score it truly deserves.

A Charming and Refreshing Drama Worth Watching

I really enjoyed Genie Make a Wish! I give it a solid 9/10 because it’s a lovely mix of humor, warmth, and great storytelling. The cast is perfectly chosen, and every actor brings something special to their role. The story is engaging and well written, with just the right balance between touching moments and light comedy. It feels refreshing, fun, and easy to watch. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something entertaining and heartwarming. A delightful escape with memorable moment

it was a drama with lots of laughter.

Bae Suzy played the psychopathic character very well. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Kim Woo Bin's scenes where he was afraid of Ki Ga Young and ran away made me laugh out loud. Only the past love story was a bit dull. Other than that, it was a drama with lots of laughter and tears. I recommend it.
