On a dangerous path as a choice
A young woman, sold from the “Flower House” to the prime minister to become his concubine, turns out to be a strong and independent personality with her own goals. She also has a mysterious connection to the prime ministers son-in-law, which makes her endeavour even more risky, while at the same time yields an advantage, as it enables her to involve him into her scheme. Being well prepared she turns dangerous situations into opportunities, so she is not afraid, to provoke such situations, despite being already almost killed by the prime minister, before even entering the mansion. There the story unfolds, as she works on settling old scores and retrieving something important, that had been stolen from her.Maybe give it a try, if you are looking for something with more tension and passion between the main characters, than the average cdrama and if you can bear enemies/lovers stabbing and hurting each other in plenty of ways repeatedly… Also, if you are tired of the innocent, always nice and kind female lead characters, but also don't want her to be unemotional or a stereotypical physically strong woman/warrior type.
I would not recommend this to people, who only want to see sweet/innocent romance. This surely isn't a wholesome love story, since the main characters are set up to be “enemies and lovers” at the same time. Problematic behaviour occurs, but in my opinion, its framed as problematic, not as something to aim for.
I appreciated about the drama:
-that the female lead has agency. She is resourceful, confident and willing to take matters into her own hands. Additionally she has political aspirations besides her personal motivations, giving her purpose beyond romance.
-that the second female lead plays a role beyond being an antagonist to the main leads, not simply being a character to be exclusively hated by the audience, like in many similar dramas.
-that the acting is decent and the plot moves along quickly (there are more flashback scenes in the beginning, but its not excessive throughout the drama)

revenge/mystery/romance
Not sure why this doesn't have many reviews, but I caught it on youtube, and enjoyed it.I'll be brief:
revenge/mystery/romance plot with SMOKING HOT chemistry between ML and FL. Cast did very well. Agree with another reviewer that the 2FL has some story behind her and is not just cardboard cutout of jealous SFL.
Music was gorgeous. Entertaining binge watch show.
Violence warning: there are a few times the females get slapped, but definitely not the "sexual abuse as entertainment" crap that's out there.

THE BEST C DRAMA SO FAR!! Not the typical storyline!
I cried watching the ml and fl recouncile. Ml has his own reason, he didnt want to kill fl but it is the best way to protect her from the evil persons around them. Their world is so dangerous. Ml did his best to protect fl. i cried watching them recouncile together. This is an extraordinary plot. Another different level of storyline and plot twist. If you are bored watching the same storyline by other c dramas, u are recommended to watch this. U will become “anxious” and eager to know what will happen in the next episode. Really give me goosebumps!
This story dont have betrayal element between the male and female lead. Although at first we thought that ml was betraying fl, actually it is not. They love each other unconditionally. This makes the story really worth to watch.
Thumbs up. I like this story so much. The ending is really satisfying because i like the happy ending story. The ml was not the toxic one. I dont understand why some said so. because i read one comment said the ml is abusive. He is not abusive at all, in fact he is really affectionate, trustworthy and even a good protector of the fl.
He is suffered less no more than fl in this story. Please watch it. I recommend it to you all everybody!

The writer's favourite RED FLAG
I approached you to take my revenge without doing any proper investigation. Trust me, I fell for you at first sight.I stabbed a knife through you. Believe me, I did it to protect you.
I betrayed you and married your archenemy. Believe me, you’re the only one for me.
I couldn’t control my hormones and humiliated you. Trust me, I love you deeply.
I let my wife play archery with an apple on your head. Trust me, I will keep you safe.
Viewers know I am a big scumbag… but believe me, I am a gentleman — because the writer says so.
Alright, once you believe all this, the plot magically reaches Episode 18.
Characters
Male Lead (ML):
A very interesting ML indeed. Literal aphrodisiacs don’t work on him; he gets turned on by the FL’s slaps — not one, not two, but at least three. This might sound romantic foreplay to some, but given their situation, only a lunatic would find it exciting. He is utterly shameless, in my opinion. He constantly hides his hypocrisy behind the “benefit of doubt,” never truly caring about the repercussions. He believes that just because he has a reason, all his shady and disgusting actions should be forgiven. According to him, since he claims to love the FL, she should forgive him for doing absolutely anything to her.
By Episode 20, I had lost all hope in the concept of karma. This man is a freaking zombie. I don’t care what happens next; I’m not watching it anymore. Still, I can easily predict what’s coming: his love-compulsion-hemorrhoids will worsen, he’ll suffer dramatically for half an episode, and then he’ll be saved at the last moment — because the writer clearly lacks both logic and a moral compass.
Female Lead (FL):
This fool isn’t even worth mentioning in the review. I mean, even a freaking platyhelminth — which doesn’t have a true brain — would react and bite if hurt this many times. But the FL seems to be even lower in the evolutionary hierarchy. Pathetic. Completely hopeless. Her entry with that aerial dance almost made me think she’d bring something substantial to the table. Turns out, she’s just another loser who succumbs to pheromones and hormones.
Side Lead / Vamp:
I actually liked her more. Yes, she’s a spoiled brat, but at least she had the brains to protect what mattered to her.
Background Music:
It existed, but nothing impressive. Or maybe the plot was so bad that even Céline Dion couldn’t have saved it.
Overall Verdict
I genuinely don’t understand how some people rated this an 8, 9, or even a 10. But then again, we all have our own taste and our own standards. Perhaps mine just isn’t this low.

Just Why
A lot of these revenge CDrama stories are steeped so far from reality, even for a fictional fantasy story, that I’m not sure why these writers keep recycling and remaking them. The Good
Li Jiu Lin is eye candy. That’s about it.
The Bad
Promotes Stockholm Syndrome as a lot of these CDramas do. Sometimes it’s nice to get dramas where the victim who was abused, killed or almost killed by their former lover actually gets revenge on that person. I can overlook it when it’s a misunderstanding. I ended up skipping to the end of this story after 17 episodes to watch the final 4 and see how it would end. Very predictable. There is no reason that the writer should force a person to continue to love a person who physically harms them to the point of death and they still end up being with them. Super weird and pretty sad. It’s a scary thing when you think about it and I hope any woman or man watching these dramas know that these sort of relationships are not okay and should not be your reality. Oh and the acting wasn’t great and overall story was bland.
I think I’ve watched too many of these types of CDramas over the years that I’m starting to view the writers of these type of little fictional stories as odd. Sometimes I can over look these things and accept for what it is if the story is stronger but I couldn’t with this one. I might need to change genres and avoid revenge plots, xianxias, etc where this type of thing happens frequently. Disappointing because I love CDramas but they seem to be getting worse by the year.
