It all started with an orchid… and how many kidnappers does it take to really kidnap Lan Xiang?

Ms Zheng is introduced to the Lin family and has very nice gifts for the sisters. The moms are plotting and she is the matriarch’s personal choice for JinQi. 9if she only knew😝🙄) she is Ms Zhao 2.0 or higher and far more lethal. LanXiang is learning a trade and wasn’t even aware. 🤣 Scholar Lu has been grooming her to take over for him so he can have more time to be lazy.🤣 I also think this is his way to assist the Shens by teaching her something she actually enjoys as a way to make a living. I like that he looks out for her subtly and the Xu family unaware of his Shen connections or his own past experience with purging. Jiu Tao turns up timely to get JinQi out of a forced meeting with his gma and bride candidate. He and the Marquis knows there is rumors about the deposed prince but they only have a child sketch to go with. Ms Zheng notes the orchid and shares poetry line with Lin who responds with his preference for a completely different poem and author. When she discusses it at home the Duke makes the connection that JinQi gave a subtle refusal to the alliance and will not help the Duke politically. He is not discouraged at all but doubles down on his beautiful daughter roping him in a f the parents overriding JinQi’s ability to refuse. He’s already been there done that with QiaLan so hopefully he will have measures in place to avoid their machinations. Ms. Heng figures out quickly the story behind the orchid and traces it to LanXiang. She is confident once LamXiang sells it that there is no real feelings there. LanXiang thinks the orchid is from Yuchan and plans on sharing the money with her. But even if she knew it was from JinQi, I still think she would have sold it. 🤣He knows better than most that silver comes first for her and why. What is unnerving is how she destroyed the orchid and have every intention of doing that to LanXiang. The coldness of the action does not bode well for LanXiang or JinQi. She is watching Furing perform when a man struggling with props passes by. She offers to assist and finds herself knocked out in a trunk with Scholar Han. Not only that, they are in a chest to be opened on stage at Furing’s opera performance. Thinking on her feet, LanXiang creates the ghost of the trunk and her friend shuts it quickly and plays up the ghost part til end of story. She is under the impression that Han has a rival rather than somebody after LanXiang, but our girl has the right if it. She did not complete her kidnapper sketch because she is again kidnapped at the door. Going to the Duke’s house kidnapper one has a cruel fate and even Ms Zheng is appalled at the cruelty of her father. She plays along to placate him and to get JinQi. LanXiang is literally getting shipped down river. They all realize now she is the target and JinQi shows up with the partial sketch. Here if uncle Liu tells what he knows JinQi will get him out safely. It’s quite likely this is the deposed prince they are looking for. We get a glimpse of where LanXiang ends up and Ji’Er is there to greet her.

What a dumb move!

To make him forget about her, you will make her disappear? At best, he will long for her all his life as you have no idea if to him she's just a fling or something deeper, at worst he will hunt who did her bad, found out it's you and take revenge or make your life miserable as his wife. What was she thinking, the man told you right away he's not interested!Ugh, I also do not blame her totally, just like LJQ previous wife, she's mainly a victim of her family and the weird education she received. All these powerful families just using their daughter as pawns and teaching them the wrong things to do... tsk tsk tskNow, not only LJQ will find Lanxiang but I feel like he will definitely speed up his plan to wife her up because he won't risk seeing someone else putting her in danger like that. He'll probably think she will be safer by his side.P.S: the way he swiftly kneeled down when his future father-in-law kneeled to beg him for help, besides the fact he showed up after curfew when he learned his beloved disappeared. The man is locked in, hehehe

It All Started with an Orchid Pot

The elegant young woman—the long-awaited young duchess—arrived. Lady Lin and the girl's mother exchanged compliments about their children, who were, according to them, on the verge of marriage. Yet, when Lin Jin Qi appeared, he was elegant and polite, but distant. While walking by the lake with his prospective bride, he quoted a saying about a man who must inform a woman he cannot marry her because he is already wed. It was a veiled verse, but she fully grasped the riddle behind it (and her father—the villainous imperial court minister who had opposed Lin Jin Qi—realized it too). However, the most perilous moment by the lake occurred when Lin Jin Qi’s servant brought out the orchid pot he had so carefully tended; Lin Jin Qi emphatically ordered, "Take that pot away." The young woman understood that the orchid pot signified the presence of another woman in his life. She then took the matter to Jia Lam’s father’s shop, buying the pot from Jia Lam herself for 100 taels—an exorbitant sum. She had expected Jia Lam to refuse the offer, but Jia Lam accepted it (after all, believing her friends had given her the plant, she intended to share the proceeds with them). Manny—the duchess pursuing LJQ—was testing her. She took a dislike to a certain vase, deeming it—simple, plain, and made of cheap materials—unworthy of LJQ, much like she considered Jia Lam unworthy of him. She ruthlessly smashed the 100-tael vase on the ground, a symbolic act implying that the same fate awaited Jia Lam. Subsequently, Jia Lam was kidnapped twice. The first time, her quick wits saved the day; trapped inside a clothing chest before an audience, she thwarted the villains' scheme by rising up in a ghost disguise, thereby alerting the proprietress to the trouble—especially since Scholar Han lay unconscious nearby (the villains had intended to ruin both their reputations). However, Jia Lam’s own kindness led to her being abducted again hours later and sold to a brothel; there, at the episode's end, she encountered a maid who had been taken away after a beating in an earlier episode. Meanwhile, Lin Jin Qi discussed a fugitive deposed ruler with the Marquis—a man notoriously hard to track down—noting the Marquis's mention of the fugitive's missing finger (an unmistakable identifying mark). LJQ interrogated a man who had fled the King's officers as they searched the premises for the fugitive; Jia Lam had previously sketched a partial likeness of this man. They struck a deal: the man would lead LJQ to Jia Lam. At that moment, LJQ’s gaze turned fierce and resolute; he was determined to find the woman he loved in time to save her. (We will see if he succeeds in finding her in the next episode—Episode 23.)

Well, this escalated quickly...

Well, this escalated quickly... 🫣Now there's another rotten family that wants to marry into the Lin family at all costs. Poor Lanxiang won't even know why she has been repeatedly knocked out for different reasons... But I am kind of curious if the kidnapping is really related to the duke family or maybe there's another reason? And knowing that there is that rumour about the deposed Crown Prince hiding somewhere in the city and the guards questioning people about that in the theatrical troupe gives me room for theories. 🤔Thank God Jinqi quickly started looking for Lanxiang. I think he's the most capable of them all to find her! At least Lanxiang managed to leave them a lead to follow — her partly finished drawing of the labourer's face. 🥺🙏Anyway, I think they don't know what they are messing with by kidnapping Lanxiang. Jinqi can be very ruthless and violent in combat as we saw in the early episodes. 😠
