JinQi and LanXiang just miss each other at the gate. He takes on QingYan brothel and even sees Ji’Er, but he doesn’t remember who he is and only has eyes for LanXiang. The local authorities are offering and receiving awards for anyone trying to board a boat without proper credentials. Here a duo singing in a boat gets LanXiang’s attention. Han and Furong happily singing and when asked why there Scholar Han has ther perfect response….We have come to take you home. LanXiang eats a lot of food and tells her mom she needs money to buy Ji’Er. Han and Furong come through again with some much needed cash. It is agreed that LanXiang would not be safe handling the transaction and it is agreed to wait til her father and Scholar Lu return. She also decides to send a message to Ms Zheng while playing the ghost in a performance. While Ms Zheng was letting LanXiang know who had the power, her father was apologizing to the crown prince on her behalf. Both ladies had a private audience with the princes where Ms Zheng was told to turn herself in to the authorities the next day. JinQi sneaks out the deposed prince and after a sweet few moments with his new bride, the Marquis found himself at war with the Duke’s rebellion. I am curious if they had a fake crown prince for the stage or if the prince was really shot. With the Duke’s family there, I am not seeing the logic of starting a rebellion at a wedding but then again the Shens were caught at their engagement celebration so maybe that’s just how things are done.

They really managed to make a great second lead and making us feel bad for him because we know he won't end up with our girl, even though he deserved it. I really feel sorry for him, he's been a green flag all along (even though I did not like how he went ahead and tried to propose without checking Lanxiang's feeling first, they could have easily become friends to lovers).Poor Jinqi, almost running to her, just to hear her harmonizing with her other boo 🤣 I know he's fuming inside (♪ that should be me, this is so sad ♪)P.S: Ji'er getting a quick reality check and realizing she could have never made the Young Master fall for her as he does even know she exists, ouch. I'm wondering how she will take that he married (as a wife at that, not a concubine) someone who was of her class still. HmmXiuru is finally married, whoop whoop! The Marquis seems like a decent man so I dare to believe she won't be forced to perfom wife's duty too soon. And his mother is already raising his daughter actually so, if this is not a mean household, she should be able to grow peacefully into the woman she desires to be. (Am I dreaming too big? Lol)For sure they exchange the Crown Prince with a fake, especially since he painted his face, no one can tell. That was so smart of Lanxiang to make this idiotic daughter of a Duke tell on herself next to royalty, talking about she is the law. Tsk tsk tsk

How did this couple miss each other? He gallops past just as Lan Xiang walks by, leaning on the elderly woman for support.Back at the brothel, Lin Jin Qi failed to recognize Jier, leaving her feeling frustrated and insignificant. Lin Jin Qi questioned the brothel madam, who offered excuses that highlighted Lan Xiang's cleverness. He maintained his usual stern, intimidating air of a man dutifully performing his job—though in this instance, his primary goal was finding Lan Xiang. Meanwhile, Lan Xiang ended up at a pier, where she spotted Scholar Hu chatting and singing with a female performer from the opera troupe. Relieved, she joined them to eat, talk, and share in their merriment. Later in the episode, back home, Lan Xiang and Scholar Hu conversed across the wall separating their houses—even singing a duet together once more.Lin Jin Qi arrived on horseback just then and immediately recognized their voices through the wall. Deeply upset, he turned his horse around and rode off in the opposite direction, leaving his subordinate looking on with anxious concern. Meanwhile, Scholar Hu gave Lan Xiang the remaining funds needed to buy Jier’s freedom—repaying the debt for her earlier rescue at the brothel and fulfilling his promise to retrieve the girl. She also informed him of a plan involving the theater troupe at the Marquis’s wedding, intended to ensure that those guilty of crimes would finally face justice. The Marquis’s wedding scene was quite compelling, and the couple appeared happy. The voice of the actress from the play echoed through the air as soldiers arrived—a move that had seemingly been orchestrated in coordination with Lin Jin Qi. However, they were unaware that a deadly plot, hatched by the wicked minister, was about to unfold. The king insisted on staging a theatrical performance, ignoring the apprehensive advice of his closest allies, while the villain secretly gloated over the impending disaster.Meanwhile, Jia Lan—determined to exact justice against the wicked, cynical royal woman—pressed ahead. The two women confronted each other behind a wall, overheard by someone neither suspected: the king himself and his subordinates. During this exchange, Lan Xiang confronted Manny with the truth about her criminal act of kidnapping. Manny arrogantly claimed to be above the law, but the king, having overheard everything, decided to put her on trial. Manny was stunned—in disbelief at the turn of events—yet she managed to maintain her composure. Her father, the villainous minister, appeared to be suffering from a leg ailment, yet—illness notwithstanding—he remained steadfast in his malevolent schemes. Earlier, while Lan Xiang was performing the role of a ghost, she had boldly spoken some hard truths directly to the indignant Manny, who was watching the play from the balcony. At that moment, Lin Jin Qi realized it was Lan Xiang on stage and was taken aback, though the two did not meet or even lock eyes. Lin Jin Qi had to leave, but before doing so, he solemnly charged the marquis with protecting Lan Xiang with all his might during his absence, then hurried away. However, the episode ended with the marquis in a dire predicament: the king—who had insisted on performing despite all warnings—was struck dead by an arrow on stage, leaving the marquis surrounded by enemy soldiers and facing overwhelming odds. However, earlier on, he and Lin Jin Qi had discussed a strategy they intended to put into action (Lin Jin Qi had noted that he lacked sufficient troops, but they could orchestrate something that would appear to be something else entirely). "Juan Baichuan, do you wish to rebel?" shouts the Marquis, surrounded by enemies. And that is the end of the episode. Let’s move on to Episode 25.

Yeah, just what I was afraid of... They didn't see each other. BUT at least she managed to escape anyway, though I am a bit sad that most of the credit went to Scholar Han. 😥I really hoped someone would recognise Jier. I get why Jinqi didn't, because why would he, if she was just a 3rd rank maid for a brief moment in their residence and served him personally just once? How many times did it take for him to finally notice Lanxiang? Definitely more. So, no wonder there. BUT, I did hope Nanke or Jiugao would... 😞 Now I can only pray that she doesn't get killed until someone gets there to free her. 🥺🙏But I applaud Lanxiang for exposing the Duke's daughter for what she did to her. 👏 Even if she's now in a dangerous situation because of the Duke's rebellion against the Crown Prince. (I won't be surprised if the Crown Prince dies, to be fair) 😔 And again we got a cliffhanger that makes me wish for tomorrow to come sooner!
