Against the Current Episode 45

Pieces of CuiQue 😝🫣👏🏻

LanXiang knew exactly how to tick CuiQue off. They had a mini parade with her face on a banner announcing she was from a military family and joined the pirates determined to become their leader. CuiQue was livid and wanted to take out LanXiang personally. Jinqi had word announced that he was too sick to escort the supplies and would be recuperating at home. Everybody hid inside in close quarters making it look like no one was home. Second madam’s daughter again wanted to break protocol and go to her room. For the first time ever her mother told her to tell LanXiang and get permission from her. The two battles segued back and forth to keep us posted on JinQi and LanXiang’s progress. Jinqi was additionally armed with some crazy to take in her sidekick directly. That I’m gonna enjoy killing you look was kinda awesome. 👏🏻 Tamping out the lighter on his hand even made the pirate pause.🫣 Lanxiang comes out with a bunch of women and oil candles. CuiQue is in her wedding attire all ready to take out the Lins and claim victory. She has a death squad behind her and all are armed with firearms. When she’s’ getting ready to light her musket the women blow out the lamps and pour the oil over CuiQue and company. When asked, LanXiang said the flower ornament gave her plot away. XiuRu starts playing the pipa and the men are freaked by the music and oil knowing they can go up like candles if they try to light the firearms. LanXiang reminds them that CuiQue most likely has explosives with her as well. Right about then there is a shout that the supplies are safe and her sidekick is dead. The men run out and the ladies leave and now LanXiang and CuiQue are at a standoff. Back with the supplies there is a hellish fight going on and both have death in their eyes. Sidekick dies that same stab at heart region with that short blade but JinQi is still hanging on. With the other battle LanXiang throws her lighter and CuiQue is engulfed in flames. She doesn’t fear death and is all ready to take LanXiang with her. She is blindsided by XiuRu who uses her pipa to strike hard and knock her back into the flames. Her explosives go off and pieces of CuiQue are everywhere. There is no doubt she is dead this time around. Jinqi and sidekick are both tired but not giving in. Right when it looks like we will get a replay of Yuan’s demise, JinQi’s sidekicks show up with a net and trap the pirate on a column. He complains at three in one and challenges JinQi to kill him in one strike. Jinqi doesn’t take the bait. He cuts the tendons of hands and feet and lists the charges with 1000 cut punishment. He wants all cuts to be given. His sidekicks promise more. Jinqi learned the Duke had passed before completing everything but had left it in place with specific instructions for both success and failure. Quite satisfied to see that dweeby eunuch beat up and on his way to hell along with the pirate. All the deaths these two cost.😡🤬The supplies still need taken to the capital so while the Duke’s crew go to prepare his funeral JinQi stays with the supplies to deliver them before having wounds treated. What was a very interesting sight was Han Liang and Lin JinQi walking to the courthouse in full official garb. This is the light after the heinous darkness of corrupt officials and Wo pirates. Cannot wait to see how this plays out next episode.

This was beautifully done!

The drama has finally fully returned to its wonderful self again. 🤗The conclusion of Du Cuique's return and the pirate arc was beautifully done. Lanxiang and all the women from the Lin residence were so brave to stand against her and her pirate army of men armed with daggers and knives... Yet, none of them were brave enough to stand against oil and fire... Except for the crazy Cuique... For a moment I was scared for Lanxiang, but Xiuru intervened and got the satisfaction of revenge. 😌Jinqi fought like a beast. Oh, I loved him like this — fierce, determined, strong, and ruthless. 👏 But for a moment I was so afraid that one of our trio would die... I would really hate the writers if they killed Nanke, Jiugao, or Jinqi. 🫣P.S. Jinqiao's wife irritated me again... At least the Second Madam was sane enough not to encourage her further in disobeying Lanxiang's instructions.
