Simple Sweet Story

Protagonist A is a failed mangaka and B is a meteorologist. A and B have a contract where B gives A food and shelter for free and A has to do everything B tells him to do, even if it involves sex. At the beginning, A is visibly uncomfortable with the sex because he doesn’t feel anything for B, but slowly changes as he spends more time with B and starts falling in love. While the summary might initially suggest a potentially abusive relationship between the two, it is not like that as B is in love with A before A falls for him so he treats A pretty well. The only angst in this story comes from miscommunication or lack of communication as neither A or B likes to tell the other what they are really thinking. This however improves with time and the story ends with them finally begining to embrace the nuances of being true, loving partners.

This plot does not contain any plot twists that would make the story memorable in any way. The core of the story revolves around the characters grappling with their emotions and navigating the process of learning how to becomes lovers. While formal confessions might not have taken place, the sweetness of their interactions, tinged with both affection and sensuality, serves as a compelling testament to the depth of their evolving connection.

The two actors delivered commendable performances, effectively conveying the nuanced emotions between the two characters. Their acting prowess was compelling enough to authentically capture the tension between the characters and convincingly depict the evolution of their emotional states throughout the narrative.

My Personal Weatherman was more personal than I thought

So I waited for this series to finish airing to finally binge it and I have to say, dark as it got, I enjoyed My Personal Weatherman immensely. I’m both pleased and shocked to see that the directors and screenwriters are all women! I will touch on this later~

Right from the get-go you have to expect toxicity; your leads are walking examples of a typical traditional man of the house and housewife. No one likes a tyrant and I’m not one for extreme conservative practices, but when the show spoon-fed us the characters’ weaknesses and flaws 2-4 episodes in, we can’t expect significant growth. Especially in 8 episodes each ranging 20 minutes and the production team choosing to overkill with repetitive flashbacks. Either way, I can’t say that I’m all that disappointed, I also tried to be more flexible as this is a slice of life.

This is my second Japanese BL in 10+ years, the first one being the Takumi-kun series, and this one really brought back a lot of nostalgic memories for me. It reminded me of how beautiful and well-written Japanese films are, especially when it comes to slice-of-life and romance!

I adore the cast here, they had great chemistry and each character is so different in his/her own way.
Higuchi Kouhei is such a delight to watch. He had a lot of range in his expressions and body control, and he’s just drop-dead gorgeous! That hairstyle, someone please give his stylist a raise! Originally, I wasn’t impressed with Segasaki but considering who he hung out with in university, the saying ‘show me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are’ really fits him! Mizuki is an overachiever who sees himself as superior not because of his appearance, achievements, or popularity but his abilities. He’s confident, highly intelligent, and dogmatic. It’s clear that Mizuki cares for Yoh but Yoh’s denseness makes it difficult for them to be on the same page and transition their relationship into that of a more romantic one. Yoh’s slowness was also something Mizuki initially liked until the final episode where he seemed annoyed by it twice.
Mashiko Atsuki did an introvert justice. Yoh is a seemingly darker and gloomy character who concentrates on the negatives; since he’s cooped up at home and has more internal monologue and inner thoughts, he’s consistently doubtful and has the tendency to build up people’s persona in his head. While we see Mizuki applying and taking his meteorologist knowledge and career seriously, Yoh doesn’t seem to have the same passion for his mangas. Then again, if he has to cook and clean all day every day, he’s probably got writer’s block. I wished their little outing inspired something in him other than ‘bed sheets’ :/ I mean it was cute, but it wasn’t cute.
Manju is sooooo adorably funny! I had so much fun whenever she was on screen! Yoh is NOT the good friend she needs and deserves but if she’s happy helping him then girly do you!
Manju’s husband, Atsuya, was interestingly fun. You can tell he’s used to Manju’s quirks and shenanigans in the way that he reacts and supports her.

I like that the show touched on some stereotypes and modern issues such as women saying the opposite of what they want/feel (Yoh) and the wives' jobs don't matter to today’s husbands (Mizuki to Yoh). That being said, given that the directors and screenwriters are women, I wanted to see these two conflicts play out but oddly yet not surprisingly enough, there were no follow-ups. Aside from the problematic theme, on multiple occasions, the conflicts were either never resolved or forgotten. Nothing ever came of Mizuki and Yoh wishing they’d happily smile at each other as they do to other people; please don’t tell me the ending at the dining table was an implication of that. Yoh lying about working with Manju because he’s afraid Mizuki would judge them was unnecessary as Mizuki hasn’t struck us as an unreasonable character – lustful, possessive, and condescending yes but not entirely unreasonable. How hard is it to tell Mizuki that ‘glasses guy’ is Manju’s husband? And Mizuki, knowing that Manju has a husband never put two and two together? Why not? Communication between Mizuki and Yoh started off fine (for roomies who sleep together) until we got to them being jealous and possessive of each other. I hate to believe it but that may be the show’s way of telling us that Mizuki and Yoh were ‘falling in love’ after living and sleeping together for four years. The show would be a perfect 10 had they just replaced at least two sex scenes with serious conversations between the leads but no :/

I’m definitely rewatching for Higuchi Kouhei’s smugs, though Mizuki needs to take a hint, 'no means no' and 'stop! he's drunk!'!

Perfect ending for a perfect series

Man japan really knows its BL. It never disappoints. I love love love this series. It hit all the right buttons for me. The questionable plot, the red flag ml, and the thirst scenes all were done very well. A MAN you can always count on japan for their thirst scenes. Cause it was so hot that I am now a puddle of water. The plot was okay. Cute tbh. Yoh is really cute and you just want to protect the guy from everyone and it makes you relate with Mizaki why he wants Yoh all to himself. Can be better but I have no complains whatsoever. It was cute and hot and I liked it. The actors had good chemistry too and could act well. Overall a very splendid experience. Makes you scream and blush.

Sweet but Toxic, something is missing

I really enjoyed watching this show.
The relationship between the main couple is toxic at many points. But it's still enjoyable too watch and there are some sweet Scenes.

Personally I think there is something missing in the series. It was fun to watch and I really liked the actors! I think they played the characters well. But for me there is something missing. Maybe the series should have been longer (I'm hoping for a 2 season, maybe this problem will be solved like that). The story is enjoyable but I would like to see more happy time. Like, more scenes, where the characters get straight about their problems and clear them up. The Ending feels short and really abrupt. I would love to see more from this couple.
I think the actors have a amazing chemistry! I'm hoping for a season 2!

Drowning into deep fanstastic drama

Seriously Japan’s dramas gives a different vibe and pulls all kind of fans into them I love it there isn’t much complicate scripts and stories just a very simple drama with 2 boys how they met and got into relationship without much deep conversations I like it they don’t seem to give any intense romantic scenes but just a kiss with different vibe I mean their voices and expressions feels like we are in the script it really drag us into it omg the acting of cast were good I like when goofy boy falls in love with cool type guys I enjoyed this drama every week and waiting for updates I hope I can see them In new series all the best to them team

Relación curiosa y sensual

Digo "Curiosa" porque no se muy bien como describir la relación entre los protagonistas. Creo que es una de las cosas que me atrae de esta serie, que no es la típica relación/historia. Cuesta al principio entender la dinámica que tienen, saber lo que sienten o piensan realmente (bueno, no estoy segura de que lo sepa todavía).

De lo que estoy altamente agradecida es de la actuación de los actores, quería remarcar esto, como tan sutilmente hacen sentir con sus sensuales interacciones, casi sin palabras.

Interesante como poco a poco se van desarrollando las emociones y pensamientos que tienen. Echaba de menos estas series dónde gradualmente te van metiendo en la historia y sus sensaciones. Como espectadora ha ido cambiando mi opinión y mirada hacia los personajes a medida que van pasando los capítulos.

Os la recomiendo.

No es una serie muy común

La serie no es la típica así que eso atrae mucho.

Acabo de terminar esta historia, semanas pegada a ella viendo de episodio en episodio y ya acabo! debo decir que me gusto bastante, pero cogi muchos piques (me enoje) porque ellos no son tan claros con lo que sienten y quieren y es como jugar a adivinar con ambos personajes, porque uno sabe lo que quiere y siente cada uno pero entre ellos es un juego de adivinar, casi que me daban ganas de entrar y decirle par de cosas a cada uno.

Pero quitando eso la serie es muy buena y me gusto, creo que es una serie que se puede disfrutar mas si se ven completa de una sentada, al ser corta en 4 horas ya esta terminada.

Los personajes en si un poco tóxicos en especial Segasaki, y Yoh demasiado sumiso, quizás por eso se complementaban, pero igual, la comunicación... todo lo que dice de esta serie es a base de la comunicación, que para el espectador se puede volver estresante.

Con respecto a lo visual de la serie en momento sientes el mismo encierro que Yoh, aveces crees que es prisionero, y luego te das cuenta que el solo es prisionero de lo que cree... es particular la convivencia de ambos, la escenografía y los colores te transmiten tantos y aveces se siento frio el ambiente y así mismo percibes la comunicación de los portas, considero que la ambientación y escenografía van mucho a la historia que nos cuenta y me gusta, no todos pueden lograr transmitirnos emociones acordes a lo que los personajes están pasando, y no cualquier pues volver un mismo espacio frio a cálido y con tantos matices, eso me pareció muy bueno en la producción.

La recomiendo? pues si, es una linda historia, no muy complicada y es un sube y baja de emociones, creo que la forma de comunicarse de los personajes es un poco estresante como había descrito antes, y todavía al final en los últimos segundos seguían teniendo esos temas de comunicación... pero si es linda la historia y los protagonistas son muy bellos ambos, lo ves y te enamoras de ellos.

La historia te dan ganas de repetirla, en mi caso no, soy de esas que prefiere repetir escenas y sin duda es probable que las repita, porque s tengo escenas que me encantaron.

My Personal Weatherman, sinceramente, è iniziato col botto e poi si è perso.
I primi episodi mi hanno fatto impazzire; nonostante gli evidenti problemi tra di loro, c’era comunque una certa intesa mista alla freddezza e al nascondere i veri sentimenti. Infatti le parti che ho amato di più sono state Yoh ubriaco e Yoh depresso proprio perché sembravano entrambi più chiari e aperti all’esprimersi, mentre il resto delle volte erano decisamente più freddi. Il declino per me è stato dopo il sesto episodio (o settimo, adesso non ricordo) perchè mi è sembrato che abbiano completamente annullato i loro problemi per raccontare la loro conoscenza all’università.
Dato i pochi episodi di una ventina di minuti ciascuno (che quindi finiscono subitissimo), mi ha dato fastidio che con tutte le cose da risolvere si concentrassero sulla loro storia passata.
Però devo dire che è anche vero che è servita, all’università mi sono piaciuti un botto perché parlavano con tranquillità e non c’erano problemi tra loro, sembravano più loro stessi e rilassati con l’altro, il che è decisamente positivo. Il vero problema è che mi è stra dispiaciuto che prima fossero così e poi, dopo essere andati a vivere assieme, sono diventati freddissimi e problematici.
Quindi per me è stato utile far vedere come tutto è iniziato ma data la quantità minima di tempo a disposizione, avrebbero dovuto aggiungere più episodi o almeno farli durare di più perchè veramente mi ha rotto come abbiano preteso di aggiustare tutto all’ultimo episodio.
Il loro amore per me è decisamente particolare, molto forte a modo loro ma decisamente tossico. Hanno evidenti problemi di comunicazione e di capacità a comprendersi, per non parlare degli atteggiamenti maniaci e ossessivi. Tutto too much per essere la parte esteriore di sentimenti così belli e puri, di sta cosa mi dispiace proprio anche perchè sono molto più favorevole alle storie meno tossiche e più pure.
Penso che sia stato fatto tutto in modo troppo eccessivo e alla fine veramente mi so detta “così sia” perchè ho capito che tanto Yoh è scemo, non capisce proprio, mi sale il nervoso.
Ho notato che nei bl giapponesi i problemi di comunicazione, la stupidità, il non sapersi relazionare, relazioni tossiche e veramente particolari e strane secondo tutti i punti di vista, e tanto altro, è tutto così diffuso; solo nei bl giapponesi vedo succedere sempre ste cose, non c’è una relazione completamente sana! (adesso uddio questa è una generalizzazione perchè non ho mica visto tutti i bl giapponesi esistenti e io in primis ne ho visti alcuni con relazioni di base decisamente sana, ma ripeto questa è una generalizzazione, dico solo che queste caratteristiche saltano fuori molto più spesso di quanto succeda nei bl di altri paesi).
Quindi quel che voglio dire con tutto ciò è che anche se la relazione è tossica, è iniziato molto bene e promettente ma poi, secondo me, si è perso un pò; speravo che si potesse fare qualcosa per aggiustare la loro comunicazione e il loro modo di approcciarsi all’altro ma così non è stato. Alla fine capisco pure il perchè non sia successa questo tipo di evoluzione, la loro relazione è nata così e così rimane, loro sono così e sono abituati a trattarsi in questa maniera. È tutto loro abitudine quindi a sto punto meglio che la cosa rimane in questa maniera, perciò mi sono arresa.
Inutile dire che tutto sto negativo non significa che la serie non mi sia piaciuta, anzi, l’ho amata lo stesso. Mi hanno fatto scazzare ma allo stesso tempo ci tengo al loro amore così particolarmente red (red flag). Contenti loro, contenti tutti.

+ pensandoci è probabile che la mia rabbia per alcune cose sia dovuta dal fatto che l'ho visto metà in onda e sti stronzi non solo fanno episodi di una ventina di minuti che pubblicano una volta a settimana, ma si so permessi pure di saltare una settimana facendomi aspettare due settimane per 20 fottuti minuti che erano pure indecenti. Dovrebbero cambiare il modo in cui mandano in onda queste serie perchè non è normale dover aspettare una settimana per 20 minuti dai.

Plaisir coupable à la saison des pluies

À la recherche d'une relation saine avec des personnages qui communiquent ? My Personal Weatherman ne s'en approche pas. Pourtant, cela ne l'empêche pas d'être un vrai plaisir coupable jonglant entre passion et fascination.

La dynamique des personnages ne tarde pas. Tanada Yoh (Mashiko Atsuki) est un mangaka fauché qui peine à trouver du boulot dans le milieu. Segasaki Mizuki (Higuchi Kohei) est un présentateur météo populaire qui gagne bien sa vie. Ils vivent ensemble depuis quatre mois. Alors que Segasaki s'occupe des finances, Yoh est en charge des tâches ménagères, de la cuisine et accepte de coucher avec son hôte.

Yoh et Segasaki sont maîtres dans l'art du non-dit. Et ce n'est pas peu dire, car la seule façon où ils parviennent à s'entendre, c'est au lit. Yoh est une autruche de compétition. Il refuse de se regarder dans un miroir, rejetant ses sentiments et reste buté dans son idée que tous ses malheurs sont de la faute de Segasaki. Et bien évidemment, il n'aime pas du tout coucher avec lui. Pourtant, Yoh accepte le deal. Personne ne le retient en otage, il est libre de partir, mais chaque prétexte est bon pour rester. Yoh est une frustration distrayante. Et cela, au point qu'il en devenait amusant de découvrir sa prochaine excuse pour rejeter (faussement) une attention de Segasaki.

Segasaki, quant à lui, préfère les actes aux mots. C'est un homme beau, il le sait. D'ailleurs, il ne peut pas ignorer l'obsession que nourrit Yoh pour son visage. Il en joue au point qu'il semble avoir le dessus sur leur relation. Or, lorsqu'on y regarde de plus près, il est sûrement le plus dépendant des deux. Cela se ressent également dans les efforts qu'il met dans cette relation pleine de non-dits. Il initie les contacts, tente des approches et essaie comme il peut de faire comprendre ses sentiments. En retour, Yoh garde la tête enfoncée dans le sable, parce qu'il refuse de s'avouer qu'être sous Segasaki lui plaît, que ce soit littéral ou métaphorique.

C'est un couple étrange qui ne semble rien avoir en commun, si ce n'est le sexe. Et pourtant, l'un ne veut pas partir, et l'autre ne veut pas le voir partir. Les japonais sont différents des occidentaux sur bien des points, dont les relations sociales. La particularité de My Personal Weatherman, c'est que l'histoire ne nous prend pas par la main et ne nous explique pas les choses. Il faut lire entre les lignes, exactement comme Yoh dans le dernier épisode.

D'un point de vue personnel, je ne pense pas qu'il soit nécessaire d'étiqueter une relation. Généralement, deux adultes sont capables de faire la différence entre une amitié avec des avantages et une relation amoureuse. Si ce n'est pas le cas, la communication est ouverte. Malgré tout, mon seul regret est de ne jamais les avoir vus poser des mots sur leurs sentiments.

En bref, My Personal Weatherman met en scène une relation toxique sous plusieurs angles. Néanmoins, c'est un drame sexy et à la passion dévorante (tant dans le bon que dans le mauvais sens du terme) sous une pluie annonciatrice de meilleurs jours.

Serie incentrata su un romance proposto in modo piacevolmente inusuale

Serie davvero particolare. Prima BL giapponese per la sottoscritta, va detto.
Ho apprezzato la scelta inusuale - ma sarebbe bello accadesse più spesso - di trovare i due protagonisti già intimi in partenza. Questo permette di dedicare il tempo - sempre poco in queste serie di 8 episodi da 20 minuti l'una - a tutto il resto. Si salta quindi la conoscenza tra i due - anche se ci sono dei graziosi flashback - e si parte che già convivono a tutti gli effetti, pur in una relazione - non - relazione - e non ben definita. Sostanzialmente questo concetto è il fulcro della storia. Storia intesa come evoluzione amorosa della coppia, perchè altra storia non c'è. Dal punto di vista della trama è davvero una serie ridotta all'osso: qualche riferimento al lavoro di meteorologo di Mizuki, qualcuno al mondo dei manga per Yoh, e fine. Lo stesso cast conta tipo quattro attori - sei, se vogliamo conteggiare le inutili presentatrici colleghe di Mizuki - e per il resto sono una manciata di comparse. Le riprese girate quasi tutte al chiuso, e di queste la maggior parte nell'appartamento in cui convivono. Se cercate grandi ambientazioni e una trama ricca al di là della coppia, allora non è il drama che fa per voi. Se invece volete un buon romance, un po' insolito, allora mi sento sì di consigliarlo. Va detto che non è chiarissimo, la comunicazione - proprio per scelta - è ridotta all'osso e spesso poco esaustiva. Del resto l'ostacolo alla basa è proprio la mancanza di comunicazione tra i due e l'incapacità - sopratutto da parte di Yoh - di comprendere azioni e sentimenti dell'altro. Yoh, che non disegna un partner prepotente e possessivo, è però convinto di non avercelo proprio, un vero partner, e il suo credere che da parte di Mizuki non ci sia alcun sentimento fa sì che si senta vessato da tale prepotenza e possessività, invece di comprenderla e apprezzarla. Da una parte si tormenta con mille congetture e dubbi (e qui avrei preferito qualche conversazione in più e qualche paranoia mentale in meno), dall'altra si ferma all'apparenza e non prova a scavare più a fondo rispetto a ciò che vede. Ed ecco quindi che piazza una scenata di gelosia per i sorrisi che Mizuki dispensa spesso e volentieri a tutti, senza però comprendere che sono tutti sorrisi artefatti e di facciata, e che il valore è proprio nel fatto che, a lui, Mizuki non riservi tali sorrisi smaglianti. Tra le mura di casa c'è il vero Mizuki, che non deve sforzarsi di apparire, e che spera di piacere per quello che è. E, a dire il vero, qualche sorriso in realtà c'è, ma ben diverso da quello a 32 denti che mostra in televisione: è più un sorriso sghembo, quasi una smorfia divertita, e si nota solo quando sono tra di loro. Se devo trovare due pecche, avrei preferito uno Yoh un po' meno tonto - perchè fino alla fine non si capisce bene se ha capito - e, di conseguenza, un finale con una conversazione risolutiva (non dico dichiarazioni sdolcinate, per carità, ma - mantenendo il loro codice di linguaggio - una qualche uscita che facesse davvero la differenza....e dubito possa essere la richiesta di sentire dire "bentornato a casa"). Buona la chimica tra i due, scene non troppo esplicite anche se, come dicevo, la serie parte con un alto grado di intimità tra i due (forse, gli accenni più espliciti sono nel linguaggio, più che in ciò che viene mostrato, ma senza mai cadere nella volgarità). Concludendo: piacevole e diversa dal solito... Aiuta a spezzare la visione di serie che pur con trame diverse hanno di fondo lo stesso meccanismo di base.

Un bonheur

Que c'est agréable de passer 8 épisodes en compagnie de Kouhei et Atsuki !
Soyons honnête, le drama ne repose que sur eux, le scénario étant une énième variante de l'intrigue préférée des BL, à savoir le manque de communication. Je suis navrée de la trivialité de cette critique, mais qu'ils sont beaux, ensemble, séparément, sérieux, souriants... Certes le sujet est bien abordé, bien filmé, bien dialogué ; les personnages, s'ils n'ont rien de novateurs, sont plaisants et il n'est guère difficile de se prendre d'intérêt pour l'évolution de leur histoire. Mais sincèrement, le coup de maître de ce drama est d'avoir casté ces deux acteurs. Leur alchimie, visuelle et dramatique, donne toute la profondeur nécessaire afin de faire exister Mizuki et Yoh au-delà des stéréotypes qu'ils auraient très facilement pu devenir.
