Only works cause it’s fiction at its finest

I personally enjoyed watching this for the most part. It was short and sort of sexy and ”sweet” in the toxic kind of way that’s okay when it’s fiction.

My biggest issue aside from well the obvious.. was that the series didn’t really end anywhere? It felt like there was still a bunch missing? It just ended very abruptly I didn’t even realise it was the end until I saw the ending credits?

If you just need something to entertain you for a short while and you don’t mind morally questionable relationships, you’ll probably be okay watching this. Otherwise maybe skip this one.

toxic relationship or depiction of real life or both!!!

Many people express this series as a toxic relationship, but if you really think about it the creator of this series is just giving an example of real-life.

One of the biggest problems in society these days is people have trouble with communication. Everything is a touch of a button on a mobile device or a swipe to the left or right so to speak. once people are face to face, they often don't know how to express themselves they because they can't just hit a button and show the other person their happy, they have to say it or show it which is where the lack of communication comes in. When people can't express how they feel or fear they might come off in the wrong way it causes miscommunication.

This series that appears as a toxic one-sided relationship is actually a depiction of the struggles people go thru in life with each other when neither side knows how to express their feelings leading to frustration anxiety and misunderstanding. This series shows how people express these frustrations and anxieties in different ways.

To anyone looking for a lovey dovey show please skip this one.
If anyone is looking for the pure emotional side of ups and downs in a relationship, please watch.

Really unique and different

When I watched this drama I was very confused by the storyline, I wasn't sure what the relationship between the two were until it was explained. This romance is completely unrealistic but very entertaining to watch. The drama didn't have any moments where I got bored or felt uninterested. It's a drama that one could watch in one go, the urge to watch more episodes is crazy. The characters both went through necessary character development which was satisfying to see. This drama was a twist of many different emotions. Overall I recommend it to bl fans. I haven't watched too much bl's but this one was surprisingly really good.

Simple but really good

My Personal Weatherman is a Japanese BL about two people living together. They are not just roommates because they had an agreement when they were still in university that Segasaki will work hard so that Yoh can continue creating a manga and to live with him. This set up of theirs led to them having a sexual relationship where Yoh thinks that he is just there to be Segasaki’ housemate and sex partner but Segasaki thinks that Yoh is there because he is also in love with him and wants them to be more. This kind of romance is a bit different and I don’t think that it will be for a lot of people because they tend to be a bit more physical with each other and I feel like this is a bit kinkier than I would expect it to be. I truly feel that there is so much here than meets the eye. To be honest, I was initially unsure where the relationship is going or what nature it actually is considering that there might be so much more between them than meets the eye. The relationship felt a bit toxic at the beginning but this is more or less because there is so much misunderstanding between the two of them that when they actually started talking is when the story actually got better and it led to something more interesting which is surprisingly good. I really enjoyed so much of the story and how they are handling the narrative here. I think it is good that we got episodes that comes from different perspectives because it showed us that there is actually something good about this relationship and I slowly liked the show. I am slowly seeing the kind of story that they are telling and it is very much appreciated to see the characters have such amazing rapport and chemistry especially when they are being more truthful with each other which is a big part of the growth in this relationship. This is one of those shows that if they could have just talked more, everything will be better and I am happy that it did.

Personally I wouldn't rewatch it, but I don't regret watching it

It may not be one of my favorites, but it isn't horrible either, and the plot and story line is well put together. But also there were times were I considered dropping it (which is probably because of my personal preference, and maybe not the quality of the drama?). At first, I wanted to say I didn't like it ( i had also started after finishing Dangerous Romance and I was waiting for the next episode of Revenged Love to come out) and that it doesn't have that much story, and seems more like just kind of a relationship that only existed because of the benefits there were. But then I started reading other reviews, and they reminded me of some points and twists and qualities that I actually happened to like. And then I wondered if the characters and their reasoning and thoughts were so vague and easy to misunderstand in the beginning were on purpose. I'm not sure if anyone else felt like that, but throughout the drama, the more they revealed, the more everything made sense (quite cliché) and the more I liked it. I still kinda feel like something's missing, like maybe if they added a bit more story, I would like it more, since whenever they would reveal something in the past, or about their personalities, my interest would spark up a bit. But, at the same time, there was also the twist when he lost his job, and when he kept getting anxious about something, like his "personal weatherman" leaving him because he found someone that may be better (ofc not) or he found him weird or unable to help out with their future/lives together. And, to add on to the positives of this show, it shows a unique story of a couple (writing this after i read one of the top reviews lol) who is not completely different form normal, but also has their own differences, like everyone does, except some people might those weird. (MANJU IS MY FAVORITE!!!). Maybe I found those traits uncomfortable, but I don't think that's it because I mainly found the show kind of confusing/boring, but I think the farther it went on, the more everything made sense to me (sorry I'm repeatinf myself...).

Story

I know a lot of viewers were not very pleased with this BL due to the way Yho was being treated but I took it for what it was a drama and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yho was depicted as a loner and fell for Segasaki otherwise he wouldn't have been in a relationship with him toxic or otherwise.Loved both actors .. Both very cute. For some reason Japanese actors are incredible at showing their emotions Love..Excitement...Happiness..Sadness. Segasaki was very cohesive in his behaviour but Yho
fought back and also when drunk his feelings came to the fore so he wasn't completely taken over.. Segasaki was put in his place more than once. You have many people in life who are very submissive to someone's feelings and they live like that. They prefer not to walk away.Yes I will watch it again.

A little unusual & confusing, but worth the watch

There are so many stunning shots of the two men going about their daily routines, sitting in baths, eating meals together and laying on each other’s lap. It hurts my eyes because the both of them look so ridiculously beautiful from every angle.

But beautiful men aside, My Personal Weatherman is perhaps one of the most unusual and confusing Japanese BLs I’ve watched recently.

The relationship between Mizuki and Yoh is insanely ambiguous and yet, painfully unambiguous at the same time.

When Yoh ties his self worth to books he has sold, it’s only because he wants to be good enough for the wildly successful Mizuki, who has made a name for himself in his field.

When Mizuki is quiet around Yoh, it’s because he has dropped his mask – he is finally free to be his exhausted, introverted self around a person he trusts the most. Not Mizuki the talented meteorologist, not Mizuki the popular weatherman, not Mizuki the handsome idol.

Just Mizuki. A man who has found a place to rest his weary soul.

I think the top reviewers are smoking pot

Ok first of all,
It started out good ok? Like really good. But I don't know what happened it suddenly went from 100 to 10 real quick.
I enjoyed Mizuki/Yoh's character and dynamics initially but it starting going down for me when Yoh asked permission from Mizuki to go to a fucking friend's house?? (Yoh, stand up girl)

It doesn't end there. Mizuki was showing serious case of a possessive ass boyfriend but Yoh kept brushing it off. (Yoh, have a backbone girl)

Also some reviewers mentioned about BDSM.. do y'all even know how a BDSM relationship actually works? you require emotional awareness and consent from both parties for this. But Yoh was the only one who thought of it as sexual relationship. Mizuki thought they were dating. They genuinely needed to communicate properly instead of just driving everything to sex (even teenagers have more maturity than these two)

Lastly, both needed some serious character development, but it was shrugged off under the table. Yoh should've stood up for himself to Mizuki (set boundaries) and Mizuki should know that he has a breathing human boyfriend who has his own feelings and not a dog who lolls his tongue and obeys his every command

I still can't believe, Mizuki said "Don't go out anymore" and Yoh replied with "I won't"💀
Why don't you just stuff him with cotton and make a doll out of him while we're at it?? that way you won't have to worry about where your boyfriend is going anymore.

.....

I just finished watching this and honestly it's not really for me. Even though the story shows realistic relationship struggles, I believe that couples should trust one another and be open minded + sensitive about their partner's feelings and decisions.

I was expecting Mizuki to have at least some character development, but I didn't see any even until the last episode. Mizuki stays controlling, possessive and emotionally distant for most of the story and I was hoping that he would atleast become more expressive or considerate toward Yoh's feelings and stop thinking only about himself. There were so many moments where Yoh was left confused about what Mizuki truly wanted or felt and I wished Mizuki would communicate those feelings more clearly instead of expecting Yoh to always understand him.

As for Yoh I was also expecting that atleast one day he would stand up for himself and stop letting Mizuki treat him that way. Though there are times when he was honest about his feelings, but it was only whenever he was drunk. I really wanted to see him become confident and express himself more even when he's sober instead of constantly holding back what he truly felt and what he's experiencing. Well I also can't completely blame him because he was bullied in the past which probably affected his self esteem and the way he sees himself. And on top of that he's been living with someone that's emotionally distant and hard to read which also probably affected him more.

Overall in my opinion, this BL wasn't my type of story. I personally prefer stories where the characters learn to understand each other better and grow together by the end. Though there are scenes and moments that were okay for me (like when Mizuki is taking care of Yoh and stuff.) I understand that the story wanted to show a realistic and complicated relationship but I just can't help but feel frustrated rather than attached to the couple 🥲. Love is easier to understand when both people openly show and communicate their feelings. Even though we can say that both parties loved one another, the lack of communication, possessiveness and the toxicity (etc) between them made it really hard to fully support their relationship. It just wasn't the kind of relationship dynamic that I personally enjoy watching but I can appreciate what the story was trying to portray and also understand other people's opinions about this.

plot? what plot?

the cast was stunning, they played their roles well, especially segasaki’s actor. but… plot? wheres the plot? aside from sex, there isnt much. there is alot of miscommunication, i’ve got to warn. this miscommunication is almost never addressed, so dont get your hopes high. thats pretty much it, if you want spice without plot, possessiveness, toxic without going overboard, this is your sign to watch mpw.

Entertaining yet meaningful series with characters that you don’t often see.

This series was such a fun watch but also had depth to it. I have my qualms about the main characters but it was refreshing to see them having qualities I haven't seen often in BL. Their dynamic was complicated and although I don't necessaryily agree with some of their actions, I think the storytelling was beautiful and the progression of their romance was compelling. I would definitely recommend if you don't mind stories that have flawed characters that try to eventually become better versions of themselves. I thought the MLs had really good chemistry and the side characters were also interesting :)

MY PERSONAL WEATHERMAN!!!

This show was probably the thing that kept me going in the week, knowing I can come home, relax, and watch this at the end of the week.

Is this show DEFINITELY a 10/10? No. Is it in my eyes? ABSOLUTELY!!!

There are many things that I LOVED, but there were certain things that I didn't like so much.

The ending was a bit confusing. Were they actually TOGETHER?

I always love Japanese BLs (RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE!!) and usually never rate it lower than a 7-8. What was it about this show that made me enjoy it so much? THE CHEMISTRY!!!!

The chemistry between the leads is just outstanding, which lowkey made up for all the misunderstandings.

Some of the scenes were HOT!!! As in like, peeking through my fingers and giggling. THAT TYPE OF HOT!

If I were to give it a lower rating, the reason would be because of the misunderstandings.

The way they couldn't just talk it out infuriated me. A simple discussion would have made the relationship better and stronger. The fear of rejection shouldn't be there in my opinion. Segasaki had obvious feelings for Yoh, IF ONLY HE JUST FOLLOWED BODY LANGUAGE AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS!!

Overall, this was an amazing JBL, and would definitely recommend. (especially people who like a bit of spicy scenes..) The chemistry is THERE!
