In Your Radiant Season: While Waiting for Spring
This year, I’ve been trying to be more objective and picky about what I watch. Of course, I still get swept up in those viral clips on social media and end up starting "just one more" to add to my never-ending watchlist. But between my slips and conscious choices, In Your Radiant Season has been on my radar since they announced Chae Jonghyeop and Lee Sungkyung as the leads. I love their individual work, and seeing them together surpassed all my expectations! The first episode felt a bit confusing because of the fragmented info given to the viewers, but it drops valuable clues that get explained right in the next episode. I actually loved that the plot doesn't drag out unnecessary mysteries. It stayed true to the synopsis, taking us on a healing journey through the seasons of life, showing us both the flowers and the thorns.
The cinematography is gorgeous. The autumn scenes brought this mix of comfort and melancholy that totally hit me it’s been my favorite vibe so far haha. The reflections in the show are also deep; I felt like I was growing right along with the protagonists.
Speaking of them, I related to both. Song Haran is scarred by deep losses that made her hide from the world and avoid deep bonds. Yet, she’s still likable while maintaining clear boundaries (she hates feeling like she "owes" people). On the flip side, we have Seonu Chan, who acts like life is an eternal summer though it wasn't always that way. He knows exactly what it's like to be trapped in a never-ending winter. His current self is magnetic, with a charming smile everyone loves, but in the silence of the night, that smile fades and his biggest enemy appears: his past.
Their dynamic is complex, filled with inevitable secrets because he doesn't trust his own memories, yet he knows she’s the key to unlocking that long-closed box. Their chemistry? Incredible. I was practically jumping off the couch at every cute interaction no exaggeration!
The supporting cast also brings the world to life, starting with the sisterly bonds and the grandmother/granddaughter dynamic. The portrayal of family conflicts and the importance of sticking together was so real. The drama gave us three side couples, but I feel like only Kim Nana (the Miranda Priestly of Atelier Nana) and Park Manjae (the charismatic owner of Shim Cafe) really hit the mark. Their reunion after 50 years was beautiful and the ending was so moving I’m a sucker for "old age" love stories 😭💞!!!
On the other hand, the couple that frustrated me most was the energetic Song Hayeong (the middle sister) and Yeon Taeseok. Even when they finally got together after all the rejection and tears, it didn't feel satisfying. Hayeong didn't seem like herself around him, and they acted like teenagers struggling to express their feelings. Or maybe that’s just how adults with issues act? Hard to explain. Lastly, sweet Song Hadam and adorable Chae Yugyeom gave us those "high school sweetheart" vibes very mushy, cute, and lots of crying (mostly from Yugyeom lol).
A quick shoutout to Kim Seon, Seonu’s grandmother. She is such a sweetheart! I want to grow old just like her, making pottery and living in the countryside ✨ talk about a vibe ✨. I loved how she shipped Seouran(?) from the very start.
Overall, I enjoyed the journey, but it did leave something to be desired. I was afraid they’d mess up the ending, but instead, the plot just started leaving gaps and pieces of itself behind. Episode 11 actually upset me Haran’s reaction when she found out the truth was so dramatic. I know people say things they don't mean when they're angry, but telling Seonu he "ruined her past, present, and future" was a bit much. Luckily, they worked it out. I just expected a bit more; it had everything to be a 10/10 drama.
While watching, I was reminded of other healing/seasonal dramas. If you like this vibe, you might enjoy these:

good writing and acting
I wasn't expecting much, yet it is probably one of the best of the first quarter of 2026. The writing was surprisingly good, maybe a bit hurried up at the end, the mediocre director seemed inpatient; by the way, it seems that the majority if K-directors never went stars gazing; they should be send by their school on a field trip by night :-). Anyway, the acting was excellent by all actors. It was nice to get some views not only of Seoul, but also from Gangwon and other provinces.
I rarely get the feeling to start watching a series again when it finishes, but this one did it!
100% worth watching!

Where emotions speak louder than words
There’s no need for big dramatic twists, the story works because of how carefully it builds its emotions through small, precise moments. I found myself paying attention to the details, the pauses, the way characters react rather than what they say. What I really appreciated is that I ended up loving every storyline, not just the main one. Each arc had its own weight and purpose, and together they made the whole drama feel full and cohesive. The relationships feel grounded and sincere, which makes every interaction more impactful.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I was following each character with the same curiosity, wanting to see how their stories would unfold, and that’s what made it so engaging.

The beauty of love, of many kinds, at various stages, on different paths
In Your Radiant Season is such a beautiful story, written so perfectly and directed even better. The colors, the emotions, the scenes, the words, the story, the people; all extraordinarily believable, all amazingly perfect. While it might seem like a melo, slow, depressed show at first (imo), it actually diverges early from all blues to shades of pink, green, orange, purple... the whole rainbow.
All the love stories were so well written, going through different paths all to end up at the same destination of happiness and belongingness.
I really wanted to see more of Hanyeong and Mr Yeon, though :(

overhyped and underwhelming
I don't know if it's just me, but I was not impressed with this drama. After all the hype and everyone praising it, I went in with high expectations. The beginning was promising, but the more I watched, the more my interest faded. In my opinion, this drama is seriously overrated. To be honest, I never felt any attachment to the characters. I simply didn't care what happened to them. The storyline had potential, but the execution fell flat for me. Also, I couldn't vibe with Jong Hyeop at all – something about his performance just didn't click.
I made it to episode 7, then gave up and skipped straight to the finale. And honestly? I didn't miss much. The last episode basically summarized the entire story.
Verdict: An overrated, average drama that fails to live up to the hype.

How is this good?
Had to make an account after finishing this, what a horrible portrayal of a relationship. Selfish, stupid, overdramatic woman lead who cries about every single inconvenience, and a man who prioritizes his own comfort, justified his lies under "caring", and then keep convincing himself that it's the right thing to do. And somehow people are swooning over this just from the cinematography tricks. Toxic couple surrounded by great other stories. Trash drama that's only good if you ignore the main couple. Was this review helpful to you?
Trash Tier Drama, the FL is sooooooooooooo draining on how stupid she is.
Four couples, 3 earned happy endings. It would have been better if the manipulative ML dies at the end, and the bland stupid fragile FL went on her own healing journey. Imagine being 32, great career, loving family, and still stupid and bland enough to require a boy to help your healing. What a garbage drama. Wouldn't have finished this if not for the rest of the characters.

A beautiful disappointment
I went into *In Your Radiant Season* with high expectations — it has a strong cast, and the first episode is genuinely beautiful. The cinematography is soft and atmospheric, and there’s a quiet sense of mystery that made me feel like I was settling into something gentle and absorbing. But by episode two, that mystery is resolved far too quickly, and the story shifts into much more familiar, predictable territory. It feels as though the drama loses its nerve — instead of allowing the story to unfold slowly and build emotional depth, it leans heavily into well-worn tropes (and an astonishing number of car accidents).
Visually, it remains a pleasure throughout. The styling is particularly striking — textured layers, elegant silhouettes, and thoughtful details that make the wardrobe one of the show’s real strengths.
There is also a warmth in the storytelling, and I can see what it’s trying to offer. But for me, the lack of sustained tension or emotional investment made it difficult to stay engaged. I wanted to feel more — to be drawn in gradually — but instead found myself losing interest as it went on.
A beautiful beginning, but ultimately a disappointing follow-through.

bagus
This drama doesn't get enough attention
StoryThis was such a healing drama. The story and emotions were all brought out very well by the acting. I love the character development throughout the series and how the family members care so much about each other. The plot is not groundbreaking but it's easy to follow story and feel for the characters!
Acting
With seasoned actors leading the drama (apart from Secretary Yeon, whom I'd never watched on -screen before), you can be sure that the acting feels natural and believable.
Music
Gotta admit, the music doesn't leave an impression. I only remember that they're all instrumental and just help to enhance the emotions in scenes haha. This drama doesn't have the typical idol/singer type OST that steal the limelight.
Rewatch value
I rated it high because I really did enjoy this. It's peaceful, healing and easy to digest. :)

Despite being a thoughtful slow-burn, the series is completely addictive; it hooks you with its atmosphere and refuses to let go. Lee Sung-kyung delivers a career-defining, mature performance, but it’s the chemistry with Chae Jong-hyeop that anchors the show. He brings such a tender, grounded energy to his role that it perfectly balances her more guarded, melancholic performance.
Watching them navigate the "seasons" of their shared trauma and eventual healing is an experience that actually respects the viewer's intelligence. It’s not about grand gestures; it’s about the small, radiant moments that make life worth living again. The 2026 production standards have peaked with this one. A beautiful, atmospheric study on how we find our way back to ourselves through others.

I NEED SEASON 2 PLEASE!
This is the best drama in 2026! Whoever decided to choose sungkyung and jonghyeop for show clearly had a vision, like this wasn’t just random bec they are literally so perfect for their respective roles. Please tattoo this video on my forehead because I will be thinking about this for the next months to come. Was this review helpful to you?
