Beautiful Healing Drama

An absolutely beautiful series. Love the four couples and how their relationships progressed. The cast were fabulous. Lee Sung Kyung never fails to deliver outstanding performances (my favourite being Call It Love) and Chae Jong Hyeop is brilliant in this. I first saw him in Castaway Diva and in this series, he shines. Lee Mi Sook is one of my favourite actresses and she is so well cast here giving off the Anna Winter vibes with her hairstyle, sunglasses and commanding authority but also not negating her loving role as Grandma. Han Ji Hyeon displayed a balance between her flippant, happy go lucky personality and her sensitive, caring characterisation which was somewhat reminiscent of her portrayal in No Gain, No Love which I love. First time seeing Kang Suk Woo and his role as Mr Park was so impressive. I will look out for him in other dramas. Genius of course is the main star!!! The series was so lyrical and the references to the seasons added to the depth of the series development. Everything tied so well together and the flashbacks added to the engagement and understanding of the plot conflicts for the audience. Again another memorable OST. My favourite being All I Wish by Seo Ja Yeong. I just love happy endings and the final episode did not disappoint! It’s in my top three recent healing k-dramas alongside Our Unwritten Seoul and Can this Love be Translated?

This drama reminded me why I love K-dramas.

Okay… this was honestly one of the best Korean dramas I’ve watched in the past two years.

After being disappointed by so many K-dramas lately, I found myself feeling disconnected from most of the newer releases. I haven’t truly felt this invested in a drama in a long time — probably not since the Lovely Runner era. But In Your Radiant Season completely changed that for me.

This drama was wonderful in every aspect. It made me feel so many emotions throughout the journey, and it genuinely warmed my heart watching all the different love stories unfold. There’s something so magical about the storytelling and the way the plot develops — it manages to keep you engaged while maintaining a beautiful, steady pace, which is honestly not easy to achieve.

Some people might say it’s slow-paced, but I personally think it moves at just the right pace. I especially love dramas like this that blend multiple genres so well — family, life, mystery, romance, strong secondary couples, and even a workplace setting that’s actually enjoyable to watch.

Now, I have to talk about Chan, played by Chae Jong-hyeop. He completely stole my heart back in 2022 with Love All Play, and this was such a great project choice for him, especially after some of his more recent works felt a bit mid. His character was so interesting — like a golden retriever on the outside, but carrying so much hidden pain inside. I really connected to that. And his acting… just incredible as always. Every scene was a pleasure to watch. His emotional scenes hit so hard, and don’t even get me started on that smile — one of the most heart-melting smiles in the industry.

And then there’s Lee Sung-kyung… I could honestly talk about her for hours. I’m completely obsessed with her. The role of Ha Ran suited her perfectly, and she delivered such a strong and beautiful performance, just like she always does.

And their chemistry… wow. Just wow.
What an amazing pairing. I’m so happy they got to work together on this project — it truly paid off.

On top of everything, the family relationships in this drama were done so beautifully. The bond between the sisters was portrayed perfectly, and I loved watching their relationship. Even the moments with the grandmother added so much warmth. It all made the experience even more heartwarming.

And of course, the sisters’ romantic storylines — Ha Dam and Yu Gyeom completely stole my heart. My little favorites 🥹

I think I’ve said it enough, but this drama was truly wonderful. I highly, highly recommend it — do yourself a favor and at least try the first episode. It’s absolutely worth it.

the title leaves you feeling radiant after watching the drama afterall

This show beautifully captured the idea that no matter what "winter" you are going through, a warm spring breeze is coming.

While it was tough watching Haran struggle to listen to Chan near the end, looking at it through her lens changed everything for me. Imagine finding out that seven years of grief were built on a lie, that the person you mourned didn't love you the way you thought, yet the person who actually gave you the strength to move on was hiding the truth. Despite the heartbreak, Chanran were a soulmate-level match. Haran was his light, appearing whenever he needed her, and I’m going to miss them deeply. <33

The grandparents were the perfect reminder that it’s never too late for love.

Hayeong and Taeseok's chemistry deserved more screentime! Especially as a couple, so sad that we didn't get to see more of it, truly.

Hadam and Yugyeom, you cuties <3!! I loved that they had emotional development by the time the drama ended and grew more confident in their relationship despite the fact that they might have to stay apart, mastering their own field. It was really smart and sweet of Yugyeom to give Grandma the necklace btw.

AND how can I i forget our cutie dog Genius, carried the show with his cuteness ♥

“Let’s see cherry blossoms in spring, eat shaved ice in summer, see autumn leaves in fall & go snowboarding in winter. Will you share every season of life with me?” ★★★★★★★

Soft and slow, but in a good way

the kind of film that doesn’t try too hard to impress you, but somehow ends up staying with you longer than you expect. It moves slowly, almost like it’s asking you to just sit with the characters and feel everything with them instead of rushing to the next big moment. At first, it might feel a bit too calm, like nothing much is happening, but the more you watch, the more you realize that the emotions are quietly building underneath.

The story itself is pretty simple, nothing overly complicated or dramatic. But that’s actually what makes it work. It focuses on small moments, little conversations, and subtle changes in the characters. Those tiny details end up feeling very real, like something you could actually experience in your own life. There’s a certain warmth in how everything is portrayed, but at the same time, there’s also this soft layer of sadness that never fully goes away.

Visually, the film is really beautiful in a very gentle way. It’s not trying to be flashy, but every scene feels thoughtfully put together. The lighting, the colors, even the way the camera lingers on certain moments all add to the overall mood. It gives off this calm, almost dreamy vibe that makes you feel a bit more relaxed while watching, even when the story gets a little emotional.

The acting is one of the strongest parts. It feels natural, not exaggerated, which makes the characters more believable. You can tell what they’re feeling even without them saying much, and that quiet kind of acting really fits the tone of the film. It doesn’t force you to feel something, it just lets the emotions come to you on their own.

What stands out the most is how the film handles its emotional side. It’s not overly dramatic or intense, but it still hits. There are moments that feel warm and comforting, and then suddenly there are moments that feel a bit empty or bittersweet. It kind of reflects real life in that way, where not everything is clearly happy or sad, but somewhere in between.

Overall, In Your Radiant Season is not the type of film you watch for excitement or plot twists. It’s more about the feeling it leaves you with. It’s quiet, a bit nostalgic, and slightly emotional without being overwhelming. The kind of film that makes you pause for a moment after it ends, just thinking about everything you just felt. Perfect for when you’re in the mood for something calm, reflective, and a little bit meaningful.

IT HURTS, BUT IT HOLDS YOU..

A quiet, healing drama that focuses more on emotions than plot.

It doesn’t rush into big moments. Instead, it follows its characters as they deal with pain in small, realistic ways. There are no dramatic breakthroughs, just gradual changes that feel honest and relatable.

The leads carry the story well. Their struggles feel grounded, and their growth, while slow, feels earned. The chemistry is subtle, built through comfort and understanding rather than intensity.

The supporting characters add warmth to the story. Some offer happiness & support, others bring tension, but overall they help show that healing is not something you go through alone.

The pacing is slow, which may not work for everyone. If you’re expecting strong plot twists or high drama, this might feel lacking. But if you enjoy character-driven stories, it delivers.

Overall, it’s not a perfect drama, but it succeeds in what it sets out to do; show healing in a quiet, realistic way.

Such an amazing first episode that you'll want to finish all of it.

The setup for this show was a hook, line, and sinker. An absolute chef’s kiss. I can’t recall a setup this good from a romance from a single episode. This single plot point kept me intrigued until the very end. The secret ML holds from FL is the backbone of the show, but amazingly, Radiant Season held itself up despite all the other storylines it has also.

FL has two sisters and her grandmother that all live together and each one has their own story that runs the course of the entire show. I was impressed with how well these other stories turned out. I didn’t expect much from the youngest sister, but even her little high school romance was pretty solid.

Onto ML. This guy carried the show. Sure, FL can act too, but I thought ML was great. I really liked how early on he was basically told off by FL to kick rocks by being so pushy, and he respected her decision by stopping completely. The show literally would have been over with credits rolling. He actually respected her decision. I know. Unheard of. It’s so silly but I really liked his character for that.

I think the only real criticism I have for the show is its blatant use of AI. Everyone is working at this design clothing studio or whatever, but all concept art is AI slop. Yuck.

A story that left me wanting for more, then episode 11 happened.

Watching this series in the first 10 episodes made me stop having a skipping through episodes problem. I haven't been enjoying a kdrama since maybe 2020 the way that I enjoyed the first 10 episodes, and I hoped that nothing would ruin it.

I loved all couples, all men were green flags, and none of the women were written as annoying or intolerable. It was a bit insane that I didn't have any character that I hated, it has been so long since I loved all main characters, so this was such a good surprise.

Chan and Haran were the type of couple I prayed to see in any media, they were communicating, no misunderstandings even though Chan was hiding things, they loved each other so much. Even for Chan, I totally understood the reasons why he couldn't say anything, it all made perfect sense. I loved the scene where Haran heard him talk to his grandma and she didn't dwell on it, she went in the car and immediately asked 'Hey so what was that about?'. She was an icon of communicating, it was sooo perfect.

Hayoung and Taeseok were also such a cute couple. Mr. Yeon's feelings were so obvious to everything around them lmao, yet he tried to bottle them up (spoiler alert, he couldn't). Hayoung was honestly my fav character in the entire series, she was just perfect (episode 10 Hayoung I will never forget you).

And then we have our teenage couple, Hadam and Yugyeom, and honestly at first I thought they would just be a moment to breathe between all that angst, but instead they brought tears to my eyes. They love each other so goddamn much, it was adorable to see.

Now, let's talk about episode 11. Tell me why the hell our communication queen Haran suddenly didn't listen when she had to listen? Her entire character was built on listening to Chan and waiting for him, but when she had to wait and listen, her whole personality changed. That episode absolutely ruined the way I view this kdrama. It felt like they wanted to prolong the drama and didn't know how else to do it because Haran was such a perfect character, so they ruined her. She was exactly how I wanted a character to be, she had flaws and she had strong points, and that was perfect. Listen, they could've made her have an entire panic attack and leave after Chan explained, because honestly all that information, plus Chan thinking he killed Hyeokchan, would make her spiral, but instead they choose to do the worst thing ever and make her unbearable to watch. I don't even know what they had in their minds. Did they think I would feel bad for her? NO?? If she had listened, then I would've, but that was sooo unnecessery.

Honestly, if episode 11 would've been different, this kdrama would've gotten a 10/10 in everything. It was a runner up for my top 1 kdramas of all time, and usually modern kdramas don't come close to my fav EVER. Which says just how much I loved the first 10 episodes. I had a hard time rating it, honestly. Because as much as I hate episode 11, I can't give it a bad rating because of the first 10 episodes. I'm sad.

Also, why the HELL did they use so much AI that was so fucking annoying bruh. In a kdrama about design and shit they keep using AI like that's such an insult i cant do this.

THE 'SEASONSAL' METAPHOR

The drama's primary strength lies in its striking visual and emotional contrasts. The narrative centers on Song Ha-ran, a designer who has metaphorically 'locked herself in winter' after a tragic accident in Boston seven years prior, and Sunwoo Chan, a man who appears to approach life as if 'every day is a summer vacation.' The cinematography skillfully transitions from cold, sterile interiors to the vibrant warmth that Sunwoo Chan introduces into Ha-ran's life. Although the series initially presents as a conventional romance, the plot gains depth as Sunwoo Chan's enigmatic background is revealed. After losing his hearing and memory in an accident, his connection to Ha-ran's past—specifically his association with her late boyfriend, Kang Hyeok-chan—offers a compelling rationale for their encounter. The series avoids sensationalizing trauma by emphasizing the protagonists' efforts to reconstruct their lives, rather than focusing solely on their suffering.

Lee Sung-kyung delivers a nuanced and sophisticated performance, effectively portraying the transformation from the 'ice queen' CEO of Nana Atelier to an individual who gradually permits vulnerability. Chae Jong-hyeop continues to excel in roles characterized by emotional healing. His portrayal of a character whose cheerful demeanor conceals profound secrets and physical scars introduces complexity, preventing the character from becoming a simplistic 'sunshine' archetype. The subplot involving Ha-ran's grandmother, Kim Nana, and her experience with dementia, introduces a poignant secondary theme concerning the fragility of memory. This narrative thread parallels the protagonists' struggles, as one seeks to forget while the other strives to remember.

In summary, In Your Radiant Season forgoes conventional high school nostalgia in favor of a mature and atmospheric exploration of trauma, memory, and healing, resulting in a satisfying and emotionally resonant viewing experience.

Slightly underwhelming

I generally liked this show, however there was only one thing that bothered me, which is the way the show focuses only on 1 couple out of 4, I understand that it's mainly about them, but the other couples stories were underdeveloped and they tried hard at the latter episodes to tie all loose ends making it a happy ending for everyone, unfortunately we were deprived from a proper storyline, and many sweet moments.

Overall, mediocre, story and everything is basically predictable, but it is a very lovely healing drama with great leads.

Some Stories Remain With You Forever!!

My favorite show ended, and I’m crying bitter tears of sorrow!!

This show was like a miracle, something that I didn’t know I needed to cheer myself up. It has been a long time since I have watched a slow paced romance that doesn’t play out deliberately. It is intricately written, woven with simplicity and riveting. The storyline reflects four love stories, interwoven with meaningful experiences. Song Ha Ran’s quiet romance with Sunwoo Chan remains at the centerfold. It is full of vulnerabilities, painful yet hopeful. Kim Na Na’s love story with Park Man Jae is a memorable ride through olden times. Song Ha Yeong’s love story with Yeon Tae Seok might seem ridden with obstacles, but all is well when it ends well. Song Ha Dam & Cha Yu Gyeom grow mature & overcome their difficulties through sheer hard work. Each story had a diffident past they had to overcome but a future they envisioned together.
