The drama and the novel
I watched the drama after reading the novel, and I just finished this recently. All I could say is that the drama adaptation really gives justice to the novel. I really love the novel, that's why I decided to watched the drama, and I never regret it(because sometimes some drama adaptation are a disappointment). I love the chemistry between the leads, the storytelling, the cgi, and the casts.I also appreciated that the drama dwell deeper to their life as Master Mu Qingge and disciple Su Yishui. Unlike the novel which only describes a little bit about the past throught the chapters (it was only explained at the last chapters). The drama shows how their was fate entangled, how Mu Qingge became the youngest sovereign and Su Yishui's life as the Demon Child. Love it on how they gave conclusion of Su Yishui's relationship with his family. The drama explained it well, although some information/scenes was changed/added. I mean, there are a lot of cut stories from the novel and that's how drama adaptation is.
It's just a pity that the drama adaptation cut off their REAL first lifetime, as an Immortal God and Immortal Fruit. That was my most favorite from the novel. And Xue Ranran's adoptive parents! They were such great parents in the novel.
And the ending, I like the drama ending but I love and prefer the novel ending. Don't get me wrong, I do prefer the ending fight scenes in the drama because as I feel that the novel was lacking. But I prefer the wedding in the novel, because Xue Ranran wore the red dress gifted by Su Yishui (which was supposed to be given 20 years ago before the war). I love how Su Yishui carefully keep the dress in a box for 20 years while waiting for her. Also, in order to save Xue Ranran from the heaven's punishment, Su Yishui asked for a talisman to impregnate her, equivalent to three months pregnancy. He did died in the novel, but then was reborn through the reincarnation tree.
The reason why I prefer the novel ending is because it shows the cycle of life and their fate in three lifetimes. On how their first lifetime started with the Immortal fruit's unrequited love and the Immortal God's unfair punishment, followed by Mu Qingge's sacrifice and Su Yishui's 20 years of waiting, and finally ending on how Su Yishui reincarnated in the same Reincarnation Tree and living happily as a family of three.
What I like about the drama ending is that it shows how Xue Ranran and Su Yishui lived the life away from the Heavenly Sect (which didn't happened in the novel until their son grew up).I like it when they lived as a normal mortal couple, without any heavy responsibilities. Just having a simple life with their three kids. Travelling, eating delicacies and basking in the sun without worries.
Overall, I love both the drama and the novel. It's a 10/10 for me.

Sincere feelings after finishing THE BEST drama in my life
I've watched so many dramas in the last few years, and when I thought nothing could turn me off, here comes this drama. A drama full of emotion: joy, bitterness, regret, despair, desire, hope, and pure LOVE. There were many sudden twists and turns throughout the drama, but even though using typical methods, their portrayal still made it seem like something new, captivating, that you can't get enough of, waiting for each new episode as if you depended on it, on this drama, on the pure feelings it transmits (although I won't be surprised if you will after to watching it🤭). There wasn't a single emotionless or uninteresting episode or moment, the main actors did an extraordinary job in portraying every emotion (I'm glad they finally got the main roles they deserve in a big-time drama and that they finally had the chance to show their talent after being marginalized so far despite their great potential). Watching this drama gives you a feeling of courage, strength, and the feeling that as long as you want something and fight for it, you will definitely be able to achieve it and even moving mountains will be a breeze. I highly recommend it, it's the only TV series I've ever given a 10 to and I'm sure that if you really give it a chance, it will blow you away!(inlove)(inlove)Was this review helpful to you?
Masterpiece! Perfect. Must Watch.
I would say this Cdrama has raised my standards about C drama. I’m stuck and couldn’t move on. Every aspects from this drama beautifully wrapped without flaw. No boring episodes, no boring scene, the chemistry extremely good. The cinematography was epic. If I could give rate I would say ♾️/10.Was this review helpful to you?
A Xianxia Gem!
This is the first historical or xianxia ever I genuinely enjoyed this year. There may be some repetitive plots but girl it didn't fail to entertain me every episode. I thought I'll get sick of it after the first half because I've been mostly disappointed with xianxia dramas lately and this one begs to differ among the rest. The plot was so good and executed well and there were no boring or dull moments for me. For a drama with an A grade production, it gave us mesmerizing cg effects surpassing my standards which I really love and the prod team didn't hesitate to put in more effort on every scene for the audience to feel the depth of the story more.A big applause also to the director and scriptwritter who didn't disappoint us with the ending and didn't add unecessary plots that would not be an essential part in the story. And of course, the casts! They really have a great chemistry esp with the fl-ml and the gang (those who sided with the sys abd xrr ofc). Became attached with all the characters because all of them has a story to tell and even with their past they changed for the better. I will miss all of them. :(
It hurts me how underrated this drama is and I would gladly recommend this!

An Obsession-Worthy Masterpiece of Eternal Love, Hidden Truths, and Unthinkable Sacrifices
If you’ve ever wanted a drama where love burns through lifetimes and bleeds through sacrifices, Love of the Divine Tree is your answer. This isn’t just a romance, it’s a devotional saga of two souls bound together by destiny, torn apart by fate, and reunited through sheer will and sacrifice. The female lead (FL) is a rare gem, a protector, a warrior, a lover. Her love is not passive; it’s all-consuming, fearless, and eternal. She falls in love with the male lead (ML) from the very beginning, and even after reincarnation, with no memories of her past life, her heart still finds its way back to him. That’s how deep her love runs. She protects him with everything she has, even her life and her devotion is breathtaking. I really like her character from the beginning till the end. Such an Amazing FL!
And the male lead?
He’s cold, proud, and ruthless at first but when love hits him, it shatters his emotional barriers. He doesn’t just love her, he becomes her guardian, even when she doesn’t know it. After her death, he secretly protects her reincarnated self from childhood, hiding her true identity to keep her safe even from herself. And this secret? It causes her to misunderstand, thinking he’s in love with another woman, Mu Xingge. But the truth is, Mu Xingge is HER. Yes, the same woman he’s always loved, protected, died for.
His love is on another level, sacrificing half his core, suffering mantra backlash, extracting a strand of his own soul just to keep her alive. He chooses her every single time, even if it tortures him. It’s the kind of love that makes your chest ache, the kind that lingers in your heart long after the screen fades. His love is quiet but powerful, full of soul-level sacrifices. Honestly, their love story is one of the most gut-wrenching and beautifully written ones I’ve seen in a long time. So many “WTF just happened?” plot twists, great pacing, and action scenes that actually add to the story not just filler.
And let’s not forget the plot twists, mind-blowing and unpredictable. The villains? Twisted and layered. The action scenes? Epic sword fights, mystical powers, and intense confrontations. There’s never a dull moment. Romance lovers worry not. This drama delivers with beautifully crafted, emotional kissing scenes that feel earned, passionate, and full of meaning. Every touch, every glance has weight. You’ll feel the love, the yearning, the heartbreak.
And the acting?
The ML owns every frame he’s in. His performance is magnetic, raw, and unforgettable. He becomes the character you don’t watch him act, you feel him love. The ML’s performance is phenomenal, raw, restrained, and deeply emotional. You feel his pain, love, and sacrifices. And the chemistry between the leads? Explosive. The FL is equally compelling, graceful yet powerful. Their dynamic is unforgettable.
Best of all, it doesn’t break your heart in the end.
It’s a satisfying, heartwarming, happy ending that ties every thread beautifully. After all the tears, pain, and sacrifice, they deserve it and so do we.
Final Words:
If you’re into powerful love stories with reincarnation, epic fantasy, hidden identities, sword fights, devastating sacrifice, and love that makes you scream into your pillow. This drama will wreck you in the best way. It’s unskippable, unforgettable, and undeniably addictive. Trust me, once you start, you won’t be able to stop. And once you finish, you won’t be able to move on.

One of the best c-drama this 2025!!!
This drama caught me off by surprise. It's one of the best c-dramas I have watched this 2025. The plot, the depth of the characters, scenery and songs have all outdone a great performance with this drama. To all the producers, director, actors and actresses of this drama, thank you for making such a masterpiece. For those reading this comment, watch this drama because it will make you laugh, cry, and all other emotions that resonate how fate does not decide our future, but our actions in the present."When a tree is in front of a house, it is no longer just a house, but a home. When there is a home, there is love." — Mu Qingge/Xue Ranran and Su Yishui

10/10!
Love of the Divine Tree blew me away! The storyline was not that typical, offering a refreshing and emotionally layered narrative. Deng Wei’s performance was phenomenal—his character’s growth was portrayed with such depth and raw emotion that I was completely captivated by his journey. Julia Xiang was equally pleasing to watch, bringing charm and relatability to her role, making her character feel authentic and engaging. What I also loved was how the supporting cast wasn’t just there to fill space. Each character was well thought out and added genuine value to the story, contributing to the overall depth and emotional weight of the series. Every aspect of this drama was carefully crafted, making it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Not the usual master/disciple story which is so great!!
Had to change my rating after thinking about it for some time. I actually really loved this drama and find myself going back and watching clips for it and rewatching it.I think this was a refreshing love story between a master and disciple. It was not the same forbidden love story between them that has been done so much and seems to be the same story but with different actors. This one is not a forbidden love story and the disciple ends up being the master of his own master which is a twist.
Deng Wei/ Su Yi Shui
This is the best character Deng Wei has played in my opinion even though I do like other characters he has played. The first thing I want to say is love the costumes and the way they styled his hair in this drama. I really liked him having the wavy hair in Till the end of the moon and they styled his hair that way in this drama. Shui starting out in this has a lot of hate in him but after you find out what he goes through as a child with his family you understand why. When his master takes him in as a disciple he starts to get the first feeling of love and a home that he has never had. Starting the love story between him and his master. I just really loved Deng Wei as this character.
Julia Xiang/ Mu Qing Ge/Xue Ran Ran
This female lead is refreshing she is not a damsel in distress. She is the master of the male lead and does not need saving she actually tries to do the saving of him. She wants to keep him safe even at the cost of her own life. I really love her in red and she wears it for a little while until she becomes the disciple but she will start wearing red again near the end.
I found the love story between the two leads really sweet and it kept me watching all the way till the end. Granted there are some scenes that may seem repetitive and they do have the leads losing their memory of each other in the drama, but I didn't think it took away from the love story or made me bored with it. The chemistry and the fact that it is such a different master/disciple relationship I think is worth watching. If your tired of the we can't be together because we are master and disciple you may like this. What this master and disciple are willing to do for each other so the other can live and be happy is something. The biggest plus to this drama is it has one of the best happy endings I have seen in a while for this kind of drama, and they don't rush through the ending either. You get to enjoy it.

The best 2025 chinese drama so far
Already rewatched this drama 3 times. Never thought that it would be this good, but it became my favorite drama in 2025 so far.The story is fresh and well-written. The actings dan directing are very good. And most of the characters all adorable. This drama has a combination of romance, royal politics, hero's journey, and life acceptance.
Additionally, Deng Wei is super sexy in this drama. And this is alone can be the reason to rewatch this drama.

Touching Love Story - remarkable story and visual
ML & FL : Deng Wei (Su Yushui) is dazzling, green light ML, great acting, the hairdo is everything for him. Their chemistry is extra ordinary. Julia's smile amd laughter is so cheerfull. Most liked for Mu Gingge, captivating both of make up and costume. The ending is so perfect with impressive closing battle along story, lovely music matched with every part of drama. So far the best OST for xianxia drama.
Cant wait another drama.for Deng Wei and Julia Xiang.
So far Love of the divine tree is my favourite Xianxia drama after Ashes Of Love .

Nuanced Xianxia - best one in years
Love of the Divine Tree is Deng Wei's first ML role and a pretty traditional xianxia in story structure. The story devices aren't all that unfamiliar with rebirth, "saving the world", demons, amnesia, jealousy, etc. However, the details make it a gem in the genre, making it one of the best candidates for a rewatch in order to catch all the nuances of the story and acting. In particular, the pacing, and the set up for the characters and character development are the strongest I've seen in xianxia dramas. The contrast between the ML's cold, aloof, arrogant, "catty" character, with the FL's sunny, happy, warm personality made the couple very easy to root for. The acting can seem uneven if seen only in clips - however, DW's strength is in his strong understanding/empathy for his character in each scene and both actors come out pretty strong when seen in the grander story. Both actors are relatively new and don't necessarily have the experience of others in in the industry. However, both look very attractive and suit their roles very well. If nothing else, I think the sincerity of their efforts can be felt - they clearly enjoyed their roles, understood their characters, and wanted to make the best for them. The whole production actually feels very sincere - the screenwriter took care of many details to make a book with mediocre reviews into a nuanced cathartic story centered on regret and making amends; the director played with cgi with the best quality cgi in a cdrama I've seen so far; and the costumes are also beautiful in the many layers / fairy feeling they convey. All in all, I haven't enjoyed a xianxia like this for many years and am very grateful for the whole team to have put the production together. Was this review helpful to you?
