unpopular opinion... I know many people love this series but honestly ive seen much better...the pacing feels really slow and it's been a struggle to stay engaged. It drags on in parts making it tough to actually finish. There are moments with potential but overall it just doesn’t hold my attention the way other shows have. I really wanted to like it but it just didn’t land for me.

The Drama that Finally Made Me Write a Review

I never really had the chance to write a review for cdramas I’ve watched before though I almost did for ALP I just never got around to it especially since the ending didn’t quite sit well with me.

But anyway for Love of the Divine Tree, this goes beyond my usual love for a series. That’s why I’m finally writing this review. They did such a good job building up Yu Shui’s character. Showed us clearly where his deep hatred comes from...how he was treated by everyone esp his own parents. His angst made so much sense.

I also loved the character development of both leads and how their love arc slowly unfolded. Almost every episode had meaningful details that I just couldn’t skip...I wanted to savor every moment even the scenes with supporting characters. I’ve been binge-watching this series from start to finish. Some might say there were episodes that could’ve been cut tbh I loved them all. The other characters helped highlight just how vast Yi Shui’s love for Ranran/Qingge is. And to think he had no idea his love was even reciprocated until the later episodes...

If there's one thing I would have wanted them to do is... I wish they had extended the part where they both regained their memories. That part felt a bit rushed because of Ye Xin. But still it was such a great watch. The CGI was impressive, the sword-fighting scenes were top tier! I especially loved that Mu Qingge had a signature fight move! That was such a charming touch and the fact that she was able to teach it to Yi Shui! That was epic for me.

The romance, the angst, the emotional payoff...it was all there. And I love how they wrapped things up nicely, unlike many other cdramas I’ve seen. It was truly a great series. Thank you for creating something so epic. I would love to rewatch this again and again.

I really loved this drama! The plot was so interesting and unpredictable compared to other dramas similar to this that I’ve watched this year. Every episode kept me guessing wondering who the real villain was and whoelse went back and whose side each character was on. I actually thought her friend and the ML might be the villain toward the later part of the series! Haha the storyline kept me engaged. It was a good watch and the actors did well too.
