A drama with too much sweetness, I think I'll die of diabetes
Honestly, watching this drama was refreshing. I liked how they handled the age difference. I honestly didn't expect this series to be so romantic; it has many sweet and domestic scenes that make me wish I had a partner, haha. The actors managed to convey the emotions and love that their characters had, even though the actors themselves also have an age difference like their characters. Because in China, even if actors have a tiny age difference, the distance is noticeable and sometimes they fail to convey love in their series, but with them there was no problem. I could definitely feel the chemistry between them, and the age difference in the series and between the actors wasn't awkward at all.Actor Zhou Keyu (Li Wu) perfectly portrayed his character; I really enjoyed watching him act as a shy, sweet, and tender teenager even though he's almost 30, hahahaha. Although I am a woman, I saw myself reflected in Li Wu's personality. It's also worth noting that I liked how his personality evolved; he went from being very shy to someone very confident but still reserved. And despite everything, I still loved Ce Jin 😭❤️, I don't want, I need a Li Wu in my life... He's literally the perfect boyfriend; it's a shame he doesn't exist.
Actress Michelle (Ce Jin) is good too; I liked her character. She was realistic, and she and her character managed to convey that she loved Li Wu, But she didn't want to, and couldn't, clip the boy's wings so he could go abroad; it was painful to see how she deceived him and broke up with him, because she knew that the age difference did affect them; they loved each other, but it wasn't the right time. Besides, this girl was always throwing out facts, she told so many truths so that Li Wu would understand that he could love her and at the same time prioritize himself so that there would be no resentment between them.
With the secondary couple, you can tell their romance is very passionate and fun; whenever their scenes appeared, I always had a smile on my face HAHAHAHA. I really liked the girl, I mean Ce Jin's friend. I liked their relationship dynamic; it was entertaining to watch, a reserved and quiet guy versus an extroverted and flirtatious girl. I loved their chemistry so much that I hope they work together again, but as the lead couple 🫶🙏
It's a very simple, beautiful, and romantic series that's worth watching.

? Sniper Butterfly – Love That Aimed Straight for the Heart
Sniper Butterfly is, at its core, a romance drama wrapped in intensity. While the title sounds sharp and tactical, the real target of the story is emotion. For most of its runtime, the drama balances tenderness and tension beautifully. The romance develops gradually — not rushed, not forced. You actually feel the emotional shift between the leads. The small glances, protective moments, silent understanding — those are where the drama truly shines.
The chemistry between the main couple carries the story. Their relationship feels layered: strength on the outside, vulnerability underneath. The “sniper” element works more as symbolism — precision, patience, emotional restraint — while the “butterfly” represents transformation and softness. And honestly, that contrast is what makes the romance compelling.
The middle episodes are the strongest. Emotional stakes rise, misunderstandings feel real rather than dramatic for the sake of drama, and the slow-burn romance keeps you invested. The cinematography supports the mood well — soft lighting in romantic scenes, cooler tones in emotionally distant moments.
Now… about the ending.
It wasn’t bad — but it could have been better. After building so much emotional weight, the final resolution feels slightly rushed. Some conversations that needed deeper closure were shortened. The reunion (or resolution arc) lacked that final emotional punch viewers were waiting for. It wraps up neatly, but not memorably.
Still, the journey was satisfying for most of the time.
⭐ Final Verdict
Sniper Butterfly succeeds as a romance-driven C-drama with emotional depth and strong chemistry. It builds beautifully, even if the ending doesn’t fully match the emotional intensity it promised.
If you enjoy slow-burn romance with layered characters and emotional tension, this one is worth watching.

Worst ever
How can someone normalise a relationship with other person who once played a role of brother or sister... Worst ever... And the ML is fucking slow.... Slower than a slug.... First Sluggish ML I've ever watched in drama ........ FL is extraordinary.... But the plot and male lead are truly irritating 🤮🤮🤮... Not recommendedWas this review helpful to you?
Sluggish ML and a brilliant FL
That main lead casting totally pissed me off... Male lead was sluggish AF.... Female lead was decent but the chemistry didn't cook... Could've taken some other person as a male lead... Not that recommended... I started this drama because of the unique huge age gap concept which cooked really well in hidden love.... Expected this drama would atleast reach the line drawn by hidden love.. but worst ever..Was this review helpful to you?

I actually really wanted to like this drama!
I started this drama bc I kept finding people on tiktok saying it's the best drama of 2025 so maybe my expectations were quite high.Sadly I'm deciding to give up on it after watching the first 8 episodes and it's mostly bc of the production quality.
Reasons I wont finish it:
A major one was that the bg music kept annoying me. I wouldn't mind the "slower" plot if the post-production team hadn't tried inserting that low-quality background music every other scene. For me it took away from the actually really good acting.
Overall, even though i had no issue with the characters themselves and the age-gap between the leads, the post-production choices and the overall directing ended up making me feel like I was wasting my time trying to watch it.
I really wanted to like this bc I believe when a lot of people like something there must be a good reason behind the hype, but sadly I didn't.

Age Gap Drama
Sniper Butterfly is a carefully crafted addition to the age gap drama genre. In this narrative, love transcends age. It stands out by emphasizing the characters' personal vulnerabilities instead of sensationalizing their relationship. This is a drama for those who enjoy a slow burn, a more mature male protagonist, themes of second chances, and the significance of education over conventional romantic fantasies. Personally, I found the female lead's struggle to confront her feelings to be quite frustrating. The contrast between professional advancement and love is clearly depicted through her career. With strong performances and a thoughtful examination of education, career, romance, and family, it is recommended. Was this review helpful to you?

I enjoyed this a lot, but there are plenty of issues.
I watched this after Would You Marry Me and Dynamite Kiss. So maybe it's recency bias after having gone through those 2 horrible shows, but I really liked this despite some glaring problems. Maybe part of it is that 2025 had been a rather weak year for dramas..I have always liked noona romances & Sniper Butterfly's leads are much more amazing than what's the norm in this genre. Despite the actors having a 20? year age gap, they had wonderful chemistry & were most probably very fond of each other. Also Michelle was amazing in every way possible. She is so chic, lively & charismatic that is super rare for Chinese TV & also I really love how fit & healthy she is, my heart breaks when I look at actresses like Lushi -and many others- being pushed into malnourishment.. ML's great too, he is super tall & young providing the perfect contrast with the FL.
Anyway this drama is the prime example why in romance if the casting is strong, then many flaws can be forgiven.
E23 is a really odd episode, feels like 50% of the entire dramas plot happens in it. On one hand it's good that they get the past timeline breakup & the present timeline reconciliation into the same episode minimizing frustration, however there were a great many boring episodes early on, there would have been time to make the plot a bit more even, I don't even know.
I strongly dislike love triangles & this drama has one. However this secondary love interest only gets like 30 minutes of screen time total, so it's bearable. Though there are some rather bad moments involving that guy..
As for what I did not like:
❌ The nastiest noble breakup in my cdrama history, the FL really went out of her way to make it as bad as possible.
❌ The past timeline plot about ML's catchup repeat exam prep school is super boring & oftentimes weird.
❌ About one third of the drama is very boring, especially from ep9 to ep 17 or so.
❌ ML's makeup in the present timeline is crazy thick, though I understand why they did that.
❌ The super boring corporate plots
❌ I loved the younger secondary couple, but hated how little screen time they've gotten and most of their romance happened during the time skip. It's a shame, in the 30 episodes format they have done them dirty.
❌ There were several very forceful kisses & one of them was so bad that perhaps there are fellow MDL readers that dropped the drama shortly after. Yes stealing kisses & being assertive is what the Chinese audience loves to watch, but this was too much for me, even though normally I'm okay with this.
❌ While there is plenty of fun fluff in the final 6-7 epis, I'm somewhat unhappy with the ending, mostly it was just a very mediocre boring way to bring this to a close. Happy endings should pack more of a punch, even if we don't get a wedding or kids, at least walk off into the sunset or something, anything..

Average
I even preferred the relationship dynamics between Yiyang and Chun Chang. The drama dragged in the first 14 episodes. The actor who plays Li Wu is such an amazing actor and did an amazing job portraying his character's feelings. You can literally feel everything Li Wu's feeling just by looking at his face. He wears his feelings on his sleeve. The FL, however, beside her ML pales in her acting skills. Her expressions for everything we're basically almost the same. She even pretty cries. Like, I can't mess up my makeup. She looks perfect even when just waking up. Makeup and hair perfect. Like wtf. And I know you'll say it's normal in these dramas. I know but c'mon... It was just way too obvious in this one. She's the main reason I couldn't enjoy their relationship to the max. Li Wu carries that relationship. Not just with the acting but also literally(like in the drama of course). Cos there's an obvious power imbalance. No apology whatsoever, after 8 years for the heartbreak she caused him when she tricked him into going to the US. Now, i get why she did that cos bro kept making stupid choices, but c'mon. She says stop and that's it. She says "ok, I'm ready now" and he automatically follows along like a lapdog. As for Chun Chang, I initially disliked her. Cos why did she keep talking and acting towards Li Wu like that? Yeah, he was legally an adult but with his level of naivety back then, her actions felt paedophilic. And then, she started going after Yiyang and I genuinely don't like those tropes where the lady chases a man because of how they portray the ladies. They always come off as not understanding boundaries. However, after learning Yiyang's character and seeing that he was no pushover himself, I grew to start liking their dynamics. Plus, Chun Chang had a bit of character development too. Her tough girl act would literally all just melt away with him. Lol. I liked that.
Cheng Rui pissed me off when he got bullied to go after Li Wu in highschool cos no matter how they explained his reason for doing that, bullying is never justified. Apart from that, he was such a darling. His relationship with Wanwen was cute too.
Chinese mums... Omg. If you're Chinese or know anything about the culture, please answer this. Is it normal to just show up at your kid's house without any announcement whatsoever and actually have access to their house? I couldn't get over that part. Like, no privacy and someone's already punching in your door code. What the hell? Is that real?
With that being said, I also don't like that in cdramas, the kids get wronged by their parents but the kids are expected to make the effort to understand them and patch things up. I hate that shit. Makes my blood boil.
Well, that's all my thoughts on this drama. Bye.

100% romance
this is a truly romantic film that i a pleasure to watch. Bravo to the screenwriter, the main actors are perfectly cast , and even watching it several times doesn't get boring . It's also refreshing to see that someone can still write a normal script where real love is actually depicted . I recommend watching itWas this review helpful to you?
