Excellent
These first 2 episodes are very enjoyable to watch, as it deviates from the typical zombie series using absurd humor, well used without reaching the bizarre, it has a great visual production as an excellent construction of zombies as expected from a Korean series, if you have not seen it give the opportunity to see NEWTOPIA a series with zombies with the use of another type of resources, until now excellent 👌Was this review helpful to you?

A Promising Start!
What a start.First, if you're anything like myself and a fan of this genre as a whole- its for you. Gory fun, poking fun at its own genre the way the 'Zombieland' movies have all those years ago..we finally get our wish; more korean zombies content!
Setting this to take place in the heart of a large city makes sense, with our FML currently exploring this idea; scavenging for gear, weapons is always a fun aspect in these series & yes I can not wait for her to get her hands on that chainsaw
A hotel with floors above & below already overrun is also a fun setting; hotel or stairs? Stay confined or risk going out? Well, those fuel tanks aren't gonna fill themselves..
Cast. Its my first time seeing most of the cast, but I'm enjoying most of the characters so far. Jisoo is the heart of the show right now, a mix of being an overly polite shy natured girl, while also yelling at a crowd of people to help her pull a corpse stuck on her cars glass windshield. Its strange because I always prefer my FML to be more on the competent side for these shows(think the happiness spec ops woman) but she has been a joy so far & my favorite POV! Alex(smug CEO)casually going on his solo quest to probably saving us in the very end is also one to watch for.
Highlights:
- Setting(s) are fantastic
- Gory Fun, depsite the zombies being unserious there is a real sense of danger in these encounters
- Most characters, including side characters, are a joy(so far)
- Scavenging, a theme many of us enjoy in this genre is already being explored
Criticism:
- ML is the weak part of the early story. Coming off as an overly controlling boyfriend & not giving the audience a reason to care for him, its a shame because the script isn't utilizing a great actor
- Momentum is not on its side. We understand why they would release this weekly, but it will face tough competition in the coming weeks

It is so good
I don’t even know where to begin! I’m having such an amazing time watching this drama. Park Jeong Min as Jae Yoon is just the perfect mix of adorable and hilarious—his acting skills are top-notch, as expected. The storyline is so unique, completely different from the usual zombie series. What makes it even better is how they’ve managed to balance the thrilling plot with comedy, keeping viewers engaged and excited for what’s next. Now, about Kim Jisoo—there’s no denying that she’s one of the best idol actresses, if not the best. Anyone who says otherwise is just a hater, lol. From Snowdrop to Newtopia, her growth over the years has been incredible. Her on-screen presence has become so powerful, and she fully brings Young Joo to life. I’m beyond excited to see how Young Joo’s story develops! The writing and comedic timing in this series are simply perfect. This is a must-watch—trust me, you won’t regret it!

I really love newtopia
Newtopia is really unique from other zombie thrillers is its well-timed comedic moments. The humor feels natural and adds a much-needed balance to the intensity of the storyline. The witty dialogue, quirky characters, and absurd situations create a lighthearted atmosphere, making the more dramatic moments hit harder. It's rare to see a zombie series where you're not just rooting for survival but also for the characters to find joy and laughter in their chaotic world. Was this review helpful to you?

It's a comedy, fun zombie series
Newtopia, has been receiving mixed reactions, but it’s clear that the show was never meant to be a thriller—it’s a comedy. Those expecting intense suspense might be missing the point, but for those who appreciate the genre, it delivers well. The cast, including Jisoo, has done an incredible job bringing their characters to life with charm and humour. The drama offers lighthearted entertainment, and Jisoo continues to prove her versatility as an actress. If you enjoy well-acted comedy dramas, Newtopia is definitely worth watching! And Personally, I loved the cast and their performances—they did an amazing job!"Was this review helpful to you?
Newtopia: When Your Love Life is Deadlier Than the Zombies?♀️?♂️
Just two episodes in, and I’m already hooked—so much so that if I ever find myself in a zombie apocalypse, I’d want this cast by my side. Newtopia delivers a thrilling yet hilarious take on survival, making the dire situation unexpectedly entertaining. At its core, the drama follows “Sweet Jae Yun,” a late-drafted soldier, and his girlfriend, “Darling Young Joo,” who are on the verge of a breakup when a zombie outbreak flips their world upside down. What sets Newtopia apart is its fresh premise— a secret military airbase hidden within a high building in Seoul. The setting alone adds a unique twist to the genre.
The casting feels meticulously chosen to fit the narrative, with each character bringing their own charm and wit to balance the nail-biting tension with well-timed humor. It’s an unconventional approach for a zombie drama, considering most in the genre lean heavily into pure horror or dystopian despair. Jisoo and Park Jeong Min, in particular, stand out with performances that make the absurdity of the situation all the more engaging.
That said, no drama is without its flaws. The pacing feels uneven at times, sudden scene transitions can be jarring, and some CGI moments could use more polish. But honestly? The sheer energy, comedic timing, and chemistry of the cast overshadow those shortcomings—at least for now. I have high hopes that as the series picks up, it’ll smooth out those rough edges and deliver an even more gripping ride.
If the first two episodes are anything to go by, Newtopia is shaping up to be an exciting, unpredictable, and refreshingly lighthearted take on the zombie apocalypse genre. I’m definitely sticking around for the rest.

Newtopia one of my favorites series
Jaeyoon and Youngjoo, despite their deep affection for each other, face the usual issues of long-distance relationships—misunderstandings, communication breakdowns, and the frustrations of only connecting via sporadic phone calls and video chats. The ongoing zombie attacks create constant interruptions, making their moments of connection both hilarious and heartbreaking. Adding to the chaos is Jaeyoon’s relationship with his fellow soldier, Ra In-ho, whose antics provide plenty of comic relief during the most intense moments.Characters and Chemistry
Jaeyoon, the tough and stoic soldier, contrasts wonderfully with Youngjoo, who is trying her best to stay optimistic despite the separation. Their chemistry is undeniable, with Jaeyoon's vulnerability shining through during their video calls or brief moments of contact. The series excels at showing their love, even as it’s constantly put to the test by the chaos of their world.
