I Tried for Jisoo...But then I had to Tap out
Okay, I really tried with Newtopia. I went in with hope, mostly because of Jisoo—thought maybe this would be okay after an okay Snowdrop (which I also barely got through). But honestly? I couldn't even get past episode 3. I gave it my best shot, but the acting… girl, Jisoo just cannot carry this role. Her expressions, delivery, everything felt stiff and forced, like she was trying to emote but wasn’t sure what emotion she was supposed to be aiming for.On top of that, the tone of the drama is all over the place. It's supposed to be this zombie apocalypse survival thriller, but then it keeps forcing in this weird comedy that just does not land. When it tries to be funny, it's exaggerated to the point where I physically couldn’t sit through it. Like… what are we even doing here? The drama doesn't know if it wants to be serious, romantic, scary, or just full-blown slapstick—and that messiness makes it exhausting to watch.
The pacing is a whole other issue. The constant flashbacks killed any momentum the story was building. Just when something interesting might happen, boom—cut to some drawn-out memory we didn't ask for. I was supposed to care about the emotional backstory between Jae Yun and Yeong Ju, but the way it was told made it feel boring and disconnected.
The supporting cast wasn’t doing much either. Most of the side characters felt flat or pointless, though I might have been into Aaron Park? Maybe? Not enough to keep watching, but he was at least mildly interesting in a sea of forgettable people.
Anyway, dropped it. No regrets. This one just wasn’t it for me. 3/10.

Perfect zombie rom com
People complaining didn't quite get the gist of this drama. It is supposed to be silly and stupid as well as a little gory and romantic at the same time and they perfectly balanced it. I am absolutely enjoying everything about the drama. started watching just for jisoo as i am her biggest fanboy and loving every bit of it and i will in future even rewatch it for funWas this review helpful to you?

I already watched it. And this is a new genre of zombie. I laughed so hard 😂 I like it!! Jeongmin we all know his acting. But Jisoo’s acting also incredible. A must watch series!
Absolutely blown away by the first two episodes of "Newtopia"! Jisoo shines as Kang Youngjoo, bringing depth and emotion to every scene. Park Jeong-Min's portrayal of Lee Jaeyoon is both hilarious and heart-wrenching - truly a standout performance. The supporting cast is phenomenal, adding layers to this unique blend of romance, comedy, and zombie apocalypse. The plot is refreshingly original, masterfully balancing humor with the horror of survival. Can't wait to see where this series goes next! Bravo to everyone involved in making "Newtopia" a must-watch.

Best Romcom ever!!
Where do i begin this is such a hilarious and entertaining show beyond my imagination. Jisoo and Jeongmin’s acting and chemistry is a chefs kiss. Having the same director as parasite it does not disappoint and really did exceed my expectations. I definitely recommend this for anyone interested in something funny and entertaining. Was this review helpful to you?
Newtopia
I know it's a zombie comedy series but never expected this funny and unserious 🤣 They are so funny and chaotic. Park jeongmin (jaeyoon)is lovely cutie and JISOO (yeongjoo) acting is really improving. She cry a lot in zomcom too. She's such a cry baby. The casts are also really doing good in their own. But what a shame from now on we will get 1 ep per week 😭😭. Please 8 eps in two months why why. Whatever Newtopia is my favorite now💕Was this review helpful to you?
MUST WATCH
I was a bit worried about this drama and did not know how I felt about it when watching the trailers however it’s a MUST watch it’s so entertaining and funny without being forceful. Jisoo and jeongmin have great chemistry and I love this show already I hope they make season 2!! Honestly, though I’m wondering why it’s reviewed so low as i really did see any negatives and feel like it’s been targeted for hate. Was this review helpful to you?
Park Jeong-min and Kim Jisoo have amazing chemistry as Jae-yoon and Young-joo. Their struggle to reunite in the middle of a zombie outbreak feels intense yet somehow heartwarming. What really surprised me, though, was the humor! I wasn’t expecting to laugh so much in a show about survival, but the comedic moments are so well-timed that they don’t take away from the suspense.
And speaking of performances, Jisoo is absolutely incredible! She brings so much depth and emotion to her role—I was completely drawn in every time she was on screen. Her character is strong and resourceful, but also vulnerable in a way that makes her really relatable.
Overall, Newtopia is a must-watch. If you love K-dramas but want something fresh, or if you're into the zombie genre but want a little more fun in the mix, this one is for you. Can’t wait for the next episodes!

Great Zombie and Comedy
This isn’t a melodramatic thriller, so there’s no need to compare it to anything outside the comedy-horror genre. From the very beginning, the visuals and music clearly set a comedic tone, so anyone with common sense would expect a lighthearted approach. Given the overall feel of the drama, I didn’t expect the zombies to be this terrifying!
I really like how the female lead strikes a balance—she’s neither overly bold to force a "strong woman" image nor too timid to appear fragile. The male lead is hilarious, and let’s be real, pretty girls often prefer funny guys. Plus, he steps up and shows a bit of leadership when the zombie chaos begins.
The first episode focused too much on the military side, which wasn’t my favorite part. I’m watching this for the female leads, but with only two of them in separate storylines, it felt a bit lacking. I hope the next six episodes give equal focus to the main leads and minimize the army subplot—I honestly don’t care about old men panicking over martial law.
